@@TrueGamer22887 They're not horrendous, they're.. fine. The overarching storyline was done pretty well, fight sequences were incredibly well executed, visuals were good, and characters generally made sense. Dialogue was really the only serious problem of the prequels, but it was the shortcoming of Lucas since the OT. I wouldn't mention the prequels on the same page with the sequels. The prequels were complete, coherent movies with meddling quality. The sequels were a hot mess that hardly ever made sense within their own established lore, let alone preexisting.

Its all for show. Its the "oh like me because im just like you". Quite honestly, still better than the prequels by along shot and I dont hear say that he hated them.
"Luke is a myth for the younger people, that's why we have to show him in the most miserable way" Great logic right there. Star Wars is fantasy adventure, as someone said, Luke could have been a great character like the Gandalf in this trilogy, instead you made him an extra in the first film, and a hermit who never leaves their island in the second film...and who does not train Rey at all, because Rey didn't need any training at all..and she would fit better in a team like the X-Men.
It wouldn't even be an issue that they showed him at his lowest point if they gave him a proper return to greatness. Instead the best they have him do is "He buys time for the resistance by projecting himself to the actual danger zone and then dies because he's too tired." But he's freaking Luke Skywalker, pretty much the Darth Vader of the Rebel Alliance from the eyes of the Empire's stormtroopers. Also Rose saving Finn because "I'd rather have us all most likely die than for you to sacrifice yourself so we can make our escape." was stupid. I haven't seen rise of Skywalker yet, but TFA was a decent start that could lead to a lot of good stuff, TLJ just smashed on all that with a hammer and said "Nah".
What the hell does he mean younger audience? Who the hell goes to see a sequel, especially of this proportion, without having seen what proceeds? You don’t have to explain Luke Skywalker. He’s a movie character, not a myth that hasn’t been spoken about for centuries. The dumb shit JJ says is mind boggling
Rey: "Luke Skywalker?! I thought he was a myth!" Me: But why? I mean he would be the most popular, as well as the most hated, man alive! He is rebel hero who confronted Darth Vader twice, and possibly the only person to meet The Emperor and survive. He revived the mother fucking Jedi Order. He would have a huge fucking fanbase who would crowd his house and ask him a million questions. And then there would be tons of bounty hunters who could make Trillions from killing him. Considering you live on Tatooine 2.0 you should hear a million people talking about him and thousands of people claiming to have met him along with him visiting your planet to make sure that there is peace and no threat there, and he would've had to go there at least once because something would happen that he needed to go on a mission there, the guys a fucking war hero. Luke/Jake Skywalker: "It's time for the Jedi, to end." Me: Fuck.......... smh
Bakub420m;gVLOG First of all Legends Luke is more Luke than Canon Luke is. Second of all I said Jake Skywalker as a reference to what Mark Hamill called him, it just takes a little research.

Kathleen went out of her way to lie to George Lucas, saying she'd give Lucasfilm and Star Wars the respect it deserved, only to completely ruin it and tear the fan base apart forever. She only wanted the company for the money and power.
Notice how she hasn't said anything publicly for months since The Last Jedi came out? What happened to all that talk of female empowerment and meaningless diversity?
George had an idea. That idea once planted, grew and encompassed several generations, redefining hope and the battle against struggle for so many people. And whilst he certainly didn't do it alone he is and forever will be the father of Star Wars. Lucas in a moment of emotional vulnerability through prequal trilogy backlash, entrusted his franchise future to KK. She never had the first idea how to respect and deliver upon that bestilled honour. But all is not lost, she will soon be gone and the repair can truly take hold.
See he's not dead; he's still alive and he deserves more respect than you lady. Do not ever say or believe he's dead. He's still alive and he still standing. Right George?
Tiber Septim Look, I love the prequels. Revenge of the Sith is actually my favorite Star Wars movie behind the Empire Strikes Back. However, the dialogue is still pretty bad in that movie and even worse in episodes 1 and 2.
Edward Brink Its a little suspicious if you ask me. She was indeed a decent producer in the past. I wonder why she is the way she is now. Did she have a shift in ideals of her own accord? Or was she maybe influenced by Disney?

Why do they think that the younger generation won’t know who Luke Skywalker is. He’s not exactly an obscure character is he

Brilliant I doubt entirely their argument about not knowing. It is very simple because they were the ones with the “forget the past” campaign, meaning THEY HAD TO KNOW ALL ABOUT THE SW BACKSTORY.
he's only a hermit because of what they made him out to be. Also, his name would've been legendary to the rebellion and to the entire galaxy for what he did in the original trilogy.
@@joeberger3441 actually in the lore the rebellion didn't advertise luke's name. They used him as a posterboy for joining the alliance calling him the "farmboy from tattooine who blew up the death star" also most military people only knew his designation of Red Five. A limited amount in the leadership and beyond knew his real name and only a handful knew he was a Jedi.
George touched on this in his interview with Charlie Rose, which I highly recommend you watch. The simple answer is that Kathleen and company wanted to "do something for the fans" from the get-go. This proposition, of course, soured any interest George had in collaborating with the new team. It was a very cruel burn on Kathy's part, especially given their decades-old friendship. In my opinion, George wants to tell a captivating story; Kuntleen wants to push an agenda and simply loves being the female-in-chief, ironically while basking in the light bestowed upon her by men.
When George said "they wanted something for the fans" it was a diplomatic way of saying fan service. The fans never wanted to see an old Han Solo and Chewie flying the Falcon and still doing smuggling.
who is luke? EVERYONE KNOWS WHO LUKE IS! Your talking about one of the most iconic protaganists. My6 year old cousin knows who luke is. He's not a myth
@@WinsteadB73 Even so it doesn't make sense. For exemple we all know who are WW2 heroes , Eisenhower , Churchill , De Gaulle etc and it was 80 years ago. How can't they know about Luke Skywalker the most famous hero of the Alliance 30 years after the event ? He destroyed 1 Death Star by himself and helped destroying another one by dealing with the Emperor & Vader themselves. He's the reason the Empire collapsed. Plus people would remember Leia & Han Solo but not Luke ? It really doesn't make any sense , it's just poor writing.
@@kalh5158 For the record I'm not a fan of any of the sequels really, a small few things I enjoyed, but full lots of bad writing, or really non-writing or anti-writing really! But of all the bad ideas they had in these sequels, I don't think portraying Luke as someone legendary and mysterious is one of the worst ideas. Across a whole galaxy, there's plenty of possibility that some people wouldn't know about him, or know if what they'd heard was true. So I wouldn't assume he'd be a household name on every planet. I think in some of the novels it even talks about how his name intentionally wasn't made public, they just knew about Red 5, but I'm not sure where I heard that.
Kennedy is Palpatine. She got close to George, pretending to be his friend. She convinced George to do something he probably would never do, sell his franchise. She promised she would keep his stories and protect his characters, only to kill them. She used George as a stepping stone for her own agenda. “Lucasfilm will be reorganized into the First Feminist Empire, for a progressive and diverse society.” When do we get to see George toss her down a shaft? Then Dave Filoni can rebuild the Lucasfilm Jedi Order.
She's a traitor. I'm not even a big Star Wars fan. But I'm a man of principle and what she's done is disgusting. Disney in general is reprehensible and needs to shut down. Above all else, they have destroyed Walt Disney's legacy.
@@disallusionment4449 agreed, I dont think they all needed to die, i think luke and leia should of lived but what's worse is how they died. Luke died because he was tried...FUCKING TIRED!!!!!
It's pure arrogance. The same thing happened to the Star Trek franchise with STD where CBS hired people who have no background or interest in science fiction.
Let's be honest.....George was a great visionary with absolutely amazing ideas and could create fantastic stories, but he cannot write the best script. I personally think that he should have overseen these new films, with his stories being told, but with someone else writing the dialogue/script.
The Phantom Menace and Attack of the Clones primarily. There are a lot of conversations that were pretty bad, in my opinion. While he does have his solid spots, there are also cases of undeniably bad or corny dialogue in my opinion.
Anyone who would come up with such a stupid question such as "Who is Luke Skywalker?" for their script dialogue has absolutely no business being near a SW movie, much less making one.
It's such a shame because Adam Driver is a really good actor who actually has a good career outside of sw with Martin Scorsese and Jim Jarmusch etc... and he seems like a cool guy. He was asked on a podcast his top 5 dream directors to work with and George Lucas was his first or second. There was this photo of him having dinner with Scorsese and Lucas and you could tell he knew he was in the present of greatness (unlike everyone else who treats GL like a meme).
Galen Starkiller Driver deserved to work with Lucas. Notice how he is the only member of the new cast who is very polite and keep his mouth closed. The others arrogantly defend their crap, especially MaRey Sue
To be fair, Oscar Isaac's not arrogant or stupid enough to go shooting his mouth off and he's also done good work outside Star Wars. As a general rule, I think the more humble you are, the more talent you possess. There are some exceptions - Harrison Ford's a brilliant actor but he also has a huge ego - but humility gives you a greater drive to prove yourself because you're self-critical enough to look for mistakes and learn from them. Incidentally, have you seen that video about Martin Scorsese's masterclass? He seems like a great guy to work with. Personally, if I could choose any director to work with, my first choice would be Ridley Scott because he's humble enough to listen to ideas and advice and doesn't let his fame go to his head. A couple of years ago he and Idris Elba teamed up to try and provide more opportunities for upcoming writers (unfortunately I missed the opportunity).
And Daisy Ridley is really nice, polite, and earnest. You can tell she really loves what she's doing. I feed bad that they ruined her character, I really liked Rey in Episode 7. :-(
Daisy Ridley's pretty to look at, but that's all there is to her. She's an airhead who also seems arrogant and snobby to me. Furthermore, she contradicts herself like when she said Rey wasn't a Mary Sue, but later said that she didn't believe in character flaws. And she's had three years to read up on Mary Sues so at this point, ignorance is no excuse.
Prince of Pickles should have let Kevin Fiege make a Star Wars Cinematic Universe just like with Marvel comic books and novels interpreted and transferred to the big screen

Well, to answer the question of "What would George", I'll just say that he would continue the story that Return of the Jedi left off at, and wouldn't make the OT main characters runaway cowards, he wouldn't have made their achievements in the OT meaningless, we'd have new characters and plots that would be interesting and there would've been an expansion of the series as a whole. But, that's just my stab at what George would have done.
He would definetly progressed and expanded the lore of the Star Wars universe. Honestly the new episodes seem rather pointless in their direction....i dont know what the plot fabric is about...rehashes
I dont remember where but i read that he would do film about origin of "force", not a sequel. I really dont understand why he had to sell part of his soul to this.... I cant find any words for it. Or who knows maybe he was "forced"...
He had a sequel trilogy planned out and he gave the blueprints to Kathleen Kennedy but I guess Kennedy decided to take a fat shit on them instead. He was going to base the sequel trilogy of the iraq war. The republic took control but there is still a power gap in the Galaxy and it would heavily focus on the underworld aspect of the Galaxy. Like sky walker would train the future generation but it wouldn’t be until the last movie that there would be an actual new generation of Jedi. Princess Leia would become supreme chancellor. Darth maul would be the leader of an underworld organization and Darth Talon would be like darth Vader in the sense that she does whatever darth maul says

That's not it. They never really cared about what George Lucas considered canon. They set out to make their own canon and Disney foolishly bought into this. Thankfully the control has passed to people who support George's vision for the franchise. They are being listened to now.
Kathleen Kennedy single handedly destroyed 2 franchises, it is unreal how Disney kept this old woman, who had absolutely nothing to do with the original creative process, as President of Lucasfilm.

more proof Kathleen Kennedy, Jar Jar Abrams and many others involved with the ST don't know nothing about what they are doing: KK said Kylo Ren is young and is in the midst of adolescent angst, BUT, in the new canon Kylo Ren was born in 5 ABY and The Force Awakens happens in 34 ABY, so Kylo is 29 years old. "all the stories are real??".....because two generations of fans didn't grow up with Rebels and Clone Wars. Battlefront games, comics etc....and in universe characters wouldn't have had Luke as some kind of renowned hero.....there was so much to build on and they chose ignorance.....in some ways The Mandorlian kind of made the same mistake. Luke's name should be everywhere. The new republic should be using it as propaganda. Then somewhere by the end of the sequels everyone knows who Luke is???
Kathleen Kennedy and JJ Abrams have no idea what they are doing. They are actually too focused on characters. George Lucas always made it clear that the OT was about a small group of rebels fighting against the tyranny of an empire to bring democracy back to the galaxy. That was the fabric which he then interwove his characters into. And the prequels were the story of how a galaxy with democracy lost all of it to a dictatorial Emperor. Again, that was the fabric and Lucas interwove the characters into it. Episodes 7, 8, and 9 should have been about a galaxy that reclaimed its democracy and Senate only to fall into a civil war. Force use could have been outlawed in the galaxy following what happened with the Emperor and Vader (and the Jedi's failure to stop them). Leia would support this because she was always for peace and democracy. Luke would obviously be at odds with her and would train Jedi in secret. And then as the two sides of the civil war emerge, it can be revealed that one side is training and using Sith. Then Luke and his Jedi could have revealed themselves for an epic showdown. Unfortunately this new trilogy doesn't have any such fabric or background like this to build the characters through. Everyone left Force Awakens saying stuff like "who is the First Order?", "isn't the Rebellion the Rebels?", "where is the Senate, aren't they in charge again?". JJ Abrams was too rushed to get stormtroopers and a dark figure in a breathing mask back on the screen that he ignored natural story progression. This whole sequel is a failure.

SuperJackster01 Unfortunately I think you are right. Sexism goes both ways and it seems that Kathleen Kennedy has made Star Wars her personal soap box. And while I think it's important for freedom of speech and for people to fight for what they believe in, using a Star Wars movie for that was ill advised. It obviously alienated millions of fans. So I do recognize that she is sexist and that has made its way into these movies, my biggest beef is that the story is just atrocious. I don't care that they wanted to put women in all the hero roles in this movie, but you can't make all the men bumbling idiots, because then the women are only great because they are babysitting morons. Instead of being leaders in a strong organization where they have risen above the very best.
Henry Caspersen your plot run down makes so much more sense to continue the progression of the Star Wars saga. I would ratger watch that then see the rehashes we have been given

Thank you, JJ.

If Kennedy and Abrams wanted to know what George Lucas would do why didn't they just ask him? And why did they throw out his story treatments?
George touched on this in his interview with Charlie Rose, which I highly recommend you watch. The simple answer is that Kathleen and company wanted to "do something for the fans" from the get-go. This proposition, of course, soured any interest George had in collaborating with the new team. It was a very cruel burn on Kathy's part, especially given their decades-old friendship. In my opinion, George wants to tell a captivating story; Kuntleen wants to push an agenda and simply loves being the female-in-chief, ironically while basking in the light bestowed upon her by men.
because they are just trolling you and George Lucas.
When George said "they wanted something for the fans" it was a diplomatic way of saying fan service. The fans never wanted to see an old Han Solo and Chewie flying the Falcon and still doing smuggling.
Or Luke becoming an insane old hermit on a remote island.

true, but bright isn't on that list
Daisy Ridley's pretty to look at, but that's all there is to her. She's an airhead who also seems arrogant and snobby to me. Furthermore, she contradicts herself like when she said Rey wasn't a Mary Sue, but later said that she didn't believe in character flaws. And she's had three years to read up on Mary Sues so at this point, ignorance is no excuse.

But, that's just my stab at what George would have done.
you mean they made the male characters cowards, and idiots. females were great cause it's a gender biased feminazi movie.
Jared Wignall agreed.

George Lucas gave us Chewbacca,Vader, hands solo,Luke Skywalker, introduced us to Ralph maquarry(probably spelling it wrong) had John Williams make his absolute BEST MUSIC to Grace our lives, donated MILLIONS several times before he donated BILLIONS he got for underselling his franchise to keep it alive, and put mark hammil and others on the map and did so much more, such as make movies what they are today(cgi being so good now because of him,thx sound system in every fucking movie practically, his revolutionary sound system and so forth).....but I geussing Bob Igor, and cuntleen Kennedy know star wars better then it's own maker, and in their infinite wisdom threw out his treatments, causing the long overly harrasses and bully sweet old man to give up on his own passion project and retire.....you people make me sick, Walt Disney rolling in his GRAVE because of how evil Bob Igor is. Can't wait till he's not running Disney anymore. Hopefully his successor fires Kathleen. K.......huh......innitials kk......very close to kkk.....fitting for that bitch.
What would George do????...not like he handed her/Disney a treatment for his ideas for the sequels that got unceremoniously thrown in the garbage......also Who Is Luke Skywalker??? In this post war world where he rebuilt the Jedi....saved the galaxy from a planet destroying weapon should have statues all over the place...his sister is in the new republic and a revered war hero along with her husband.....like what in the f?? ...
JJ Abrams and Kathleen Kennedy, monsters!
Henry Caspersen Kathleen Kennedy is a feminist and a disgrace to Lucasfilm and Star Wars. I bet that if George Lucas had known what she was gonna do (and ruin) to his franchise, she’d be the last person he’d put in charge of the company.

Unfortunately I think you are right.
This whole backlash is about politics and gender....is it really about Star Wars?
Henry Caspersen your plot run down makes so much more sense to continue the progression of the Star Wars saga. I would ratger watch that then see the rehashes we have been given
Thanks CMONCMON007
Much appreciated. I've actually written 3 movies in my mind along this progression. I guess that's my therapy, my way of dealing with this horrible trilogy.
How could any youngster think "who is Luke Skywalker!???"....if they are in the cinema watching Star Wars wondering that then you aimed your film at the wrong people you shitheads!...what a ridiculous pair of fools sitting around posing questions like that. Did this all really happen!???...the new trilogy I mean??...it didn't go down like this surely!??...Disney may as well have just picked out my mother and put the weight of success on her shoulders!.She would say shit like "Hmmm...do children know who Luke Skywalker is??????"..
'Adolescent angst' - Proceeds to cast a thirty-something year old. (Can't complain though as Adam Driver as Kylo is my favourite thing about this trilogy)
To her, every man is an adolescent that doesn't know any better / can't be trusted to make important decisions... regardless of whether they're 6 or 60.

And they need pink haired mistresses
"Who is Luke Skywalker" was code for getting rid of the character.
For me the sequels were all about filling the screen with as many explosions and lightsabers possible. The characters had all the charisma and allure of wet cardboard, and the storylines made Transformers look like Citizen Kane. "My name is Rey, Rey Skywalker". Roll credits. We got there in the end. Thank you, JJ.
What would George do? Gee, why don't you just ask him instead of wondering? It's not like he's dead after all.
"Mic drop". Hollywood is _SO_ hip.
If only Mr. Lucas would make one more Luke film with Mark, where we can dismiss 7,8+ as a dream/nightmare/alternatereality
LifesmythTV If only...
Dismiss it anyway. It's all fiction, so what does it matter?
LifesmythTV that would be incredibly disrespectful to Carrie Fisher. Ironic how you guys say the Kathleen Kennedy disrespected Star Wars.
God, the guard pigs at Jabba’s palace are more physically appealing than her
"What would George do?"
I don't know. Ask him

Uh, I don't know... Maybe actually look at the story treatments he gave you when he sold his beloved franchise to the money machine. Or just posit rhetorical questions in interviews to make you seem not as coldblooded. Either one, really.
It's a pity SW is in the hands of these cheap hucksters, now.
i know an indie movie producer who would make a more interesting story then the last jedi, might be low budget so less high quality graphics sounds and shit but i'd still watch over what disney did
Some of the indie movies are astonishingly good, and with vastly better writing than we're seeing from Disney.
"And Kathy's like, that actor who's only known for forcing himself on Lena Dunham in that shitty HBO show. We're like, Mic Drop!" - Jar Jar Abrams.
He's not a bad actor, but Kylo Ren is a terribly written villain
Yeah he's a great actor but he looks nothing like Leia or Han. Sorry but that bugged me about the film. My opinion. Maybe he was adopted and we just don't know it yet?
These two are clueless.
Disney: throws away all of George Lucas's notes after purchasing
Also Disney: What would George Lucas do!! 👀
Guy's, when she says "What would George do" She is not asking that question as if she would like to try and emulate him. She's asking it, because she would like to do the opposite of whatever George would have done.
K.K. think of what you think you should do,then do the opposite, similar to George Castansa.
They might have been asking themselves what George would have done...
But they sure didn’t know the answer.
The fact that they even had his original scripts for the sequels makes me more pissed off at this interview
“I’ve been planting all these clues that the butler did it, then you’re halfway through a series and suddenly thousands of people have figured out that the butler did it, and then you say the chambermaid did it? No, you can’t do that”
"What would George do?" I don't know... maybe try asking him instead of asking Pablo Hidalgo?
'They're corporate types. They don't have any imagination...or any creativity.' - George Lucas
I think Kathy was sincerely asking who he was because she had never heard of the character before.
Only Disney deals an absolute
A true trainwreck & dumpster fire !
How does she have the AUDACITY to disrespect George Lucas as a myth
"What would George do?" Well, for starters, he wouldn't discard his own treatments. Unless she was asking the question so that they would do the opposite (and considering what they've done and released so far, that's the only logical assumption).
what would george do? what *DID* george do?
Literally the Sith of directing
These two clowns. Ruined so many childhoods😂😂😂
Let’s not forget Rian Johnson as well
