100% agree with the Jekyll and Hyde comparison. I've got the brokie m1k without all the carbon and it's been my favourite bike I've owned. The absolute 0 compromise of this bike is what makes it so great imo. Also as an aside, I've owned a ZH2 and a Tuono and they're both perfectly fine as a city bike. These days all hypernakeds are perfectly tame at lower speeds in my experience
It is, it gets 10% better fuel economy over the Ducati V4S. Stock the Competition comes with just about 95% of what a custom bike comes with. Has cruise, has a fuel gauge, has heated grips, has the smoothest quick shifter I have ever used.
Nice bike, mods, and review! I also found ilmberger to be one of the top carbon fiber suppliers for my bike (Tuono V4). The fit is OEM and finish is like OEM+ haha And I'm with you in keeping my electronic suspension in manual mode. In the future, I'll probably consider a non-electronic suspension model and just upgrade from there with the money saved.
I just purchased a 2024 M1000R Competition last December 2024. I was a little intimidated by the bike, but after my first ride (I didn't want to stop riding it, but its winter) I can confidently say that this bike can be used for whatever purpose you have in mind...track, street, or touring. When I'm on it I just don't want to get off of it. I have a few hundred miles before my break-in service is due. I can only imagine how it will feel after a few mods i.e. Akrapovic EVO 4-2-1Titanium Header and a Bren Tune Stage 1. Please keep the M1000R Competiton videos coming. Thank You for your insights on this incredible bike.
Congrats! Man you're gonna be blown away when you get that thing uncorked. I can't sufficiently put into words how fast these bikes are. It took my brain a few weeks to catch up, absolute sensory overload. Enjoy it!
May not look as sexy as a Ducati V4 Pani or SF but your nuts will thank you at the end of every ride. I hated the heat from my V4 S Corse and though it was raw and quite the thrill riding it and got more looks and attention than my current MR, the MR is easy to approach, easy to wring out, and way more comfortable from A to B. Every. Single. Day.
I own a few Harleys and ended up buying a Ducati SFV4SP a few years ago, thinking I was too old for a sportbike. Now I own a few sportbikes as well 😛. If I had it to do all over again, I would have gotten the M1kR instead....its just a lot more REFINED bike. The Ducati is basically a stripped down Panigale V4 with a comfortable seat. It doesn't like running below 5k at all. Its not meant for being in town, its meant to be being ridden aggressively. The BMW simply has perfect manners when you want it or you can light the fires once you are over 8000 rpm...its perfect all around...and can perform any function REALLY WELL. I have a few friends that own this bike so I have spent a decent amount of time on them...if you can only own 1 bike, this is BY FAR the best all around IMHO....
I wish you were closer so we could swap for a ride. I'd like to see how that M1KR is compared to my '24 V4S. Beautiful bikes regardless. I do think that my SF doesn't mind city riding. It's very well mannered at low speeds. I actually describe it to others like you do yours.
Thats great to hear, I've heard similar from friends with them. I think what I should have hit on more is that the Beemer just seems to be more "civilized" with the cruise control/gas gauge etc. I should have mentioned it in the video but just a by product of me winging everything I'll miss things. I need to spend some more time with the SF at some point and really compare them. Most of my Duc time is on the Panigales. I think they are both fabulous bikes. On the other side I think I prefer the V4 motor by a smidge to the inline 4 even with the heat. I think it just comes down to which bike is a better fit for you
@@DongYonder I don't think either would be considered a "Bad buy". The color way on that M is really something else. I love my Nero Gray but that Beemer is just gorgeous.
Good Video, Thanks, I have both BMW and Panigale . The difference is in the comfort BMW wins, Over heating BMW wins, long distances BMW, also smoother controls and Gears. Ducati Panigale (V2 and V4) are Racing Bikes with mirrors, have a God all mighty Torque and Launch, Loud and aggressive posture. I have both instead of choosing over the other because I think folks should have more than 1 Bike so they stop comparing their one Bike with others, All Bikes are different. Or try to Frankenstein their 1 bike to be like an other Bike.
I honestly do miss my M1KR, but the V4 SP2 is such a different, fun animal. The more I ride it, the better I get at controlling it, and the easier it is to ride it slow. And I can't explain the number of heads it turns. I might have to make a competition video about my Ducati.
Man TWM gas cap is a game changer!! LOL. I am used to the fobs as all my Harleys have been keyless for a decade, but they have keyless gas caps. I added a TWM to my M1kRR and I cant understand how I went so long (35 years) with keyed gas caps.... My new honda is keyless and I can tell you that besides a tail tidy, the gas cap will be the FIRST thing I replace!!!
@@DongYonder Realistically if your bike is stored indoors and you dont have a ton of people looking to do something damaging to you, what is the liklihood of something happening? @@redrider0151 definitely. It's more just if I go in somewhere for a few hours it makes me nervous with that bike sometimes. I've seen people mess with nice cars personally before in mall parking lots so it's always in the back of my mind. It's not that I'm just going around side eyeing everyone, for sure I very tiny percentage of people. The other two bikes don't get left anywhere so those I would swap. The Duc actually has a good middle ground with the Rizoma cap. Doesn't need a key but has its own little tool to unlock it.
I think, if you want one bike, Triumph Rocket 3 is better. The GT version is a great cruiser with linear power, but it can be a monster if you want to take off.
I Had a Rocket 3, and sold it and placed on order this bike. Totally two different bikes. I did actually find the GT very sore on my back, but the Rocket 3 R was a lot better. The handlebars are far too wide, makes it almost impossible too lane filter in heavy traffic and actually got sore upper and arms on longer rides, and the exhaust on the right, I found I had to widen my foot stance in slow moving traffic or when stopped as it was too hot to keep normal leg / foot stance (I really hopped I got use to it, but ended up tradining it in) I did love it, but just not suitable, I was also coming from a Speed Triple 1200RS. Now going to a 2025 M100R. Looking forward to it...
I’m glad that you love your bike because that’s important. But for me personally I could never buy BMW. These bikes don’t have the best reputation for being reliable. Not sure about this model but the S1k is trash 🗑️
There’s a lot at play there, especially since the BMW’s out sell all the other brands by a huge margin so there will be more failures numbers wise just from that alone then add in the social media dog pile everyone likes to have. I’m not saying they don’t have problems but I truly don’t think percentage wise they are that much more common failure wise than some of the other major brands. I’ve definitely seen the videos, but also know several people myself included that have new model Beemers and they’ve been flawless
