How’s this for a BMW showdown?!
We’ve once again got our hands on Evolve’s almighty 1,000hp BMW M4, and it’s going head-to-head against the incredible BMW M1000RR super bike!
So let’s take a look at how these two beasts stack up. Starting with the BMW M4, it’s the xDrive edition, which would normally come with a 3-litre straight-six twin-turbo that can put down 510hp and 650Nm. However, this car has had SO much work done to it! It’s now housing a built engine under the bonnet, along with a whole load of other upgrades, which means it can now put down 1,000hp and 1,000Nm of torque! As for the weight, it’s the same as the regular car, coming in at 1,775kg.
Then we have the M1000RR. It’s powered by a 1-litre 4-cylinder engine that can produce 212hp and 113Nm. Power is sent to the rear wheels only, and it’s SUPER light, coming in at just 192kg!
So what do you think - can the M4 really beat a bike over the 1/4-mile? There’s only one way to find out… LET’S RACE!

Please get a set of basic starter lights with random time to go green. The arm drop is very predictable, Matt predicts it and the competitors wait for the full drop.
And it’s safer too. No person standing in middle of track.

He isn't jumping, I played it back frame by frame, and he goes as soon as the starter's arms start going down. About 33ms reaction time which isn't really a reaction time, it's just preemptively starting.

I think they should use a flashlight for these drag races. Mat jump starts every time. It is not fair at all for a guy that drags for the first time against him.
U really think that would make a difference? Tuned cars on carwow underperform everytime I've seen tuned m3 and m4 with less hp posting a 8.9 quarter mile

If you put the video on 0.25x it shows that he only jumped barely on the third race.
My 7 year old was watching and as soon as he started moving she said "the guy driving the car started way too early." If a child immediately picks up on it you know there's an issue. Terrible race really.

That bike needs a full system titanium Arrow Exhaust and dyno tune. Those two changes alone could make this a very different outcome. If you tune it to keep the intake flapper open and go with the sprint racing filter the car doesn't have a chance. All these changes are simple and quite affordable is the best part.

The bike reaction is a bit slower on the start, he goes once the hands are already down and Mat is already flying while he waiting for the hands goes down

The naked version of this same bike has done a 9.8 quarter mile on the fastbikes youtube channel so this bike definitely has more to offer than 10.4 the last model of this bike has done 10 seconds dead on this very channel and this bike is faster and lighter than the last model. Being 2.5° doesnt help the bike either.

Can the person doing the start wait a random amount of time before bringing the arms down so it's a more fair race?
Mat has memory reaction at this point from doing it so often, guests use their reaction speed as they react when seeing the hands go down which slows them an additional bit always at the launch.
They do this in F1 too just before the lights go green.
They should have some portable race lights instead of using a person.

Remind us of all the drugs used in motorsport? I couldn't work under the trees in 40 degree heat 2 summers ago. They go places 44 while wearing a flame suit, gloves, liner and a helmet.
I got home both those hot days and went past an empty building site. I was lucky to be working on a rich persons house with shade.
Then they jump out of the car after 2 hours at 180mph? When I get a bad back going for a bacon roll in my girls A5 in Dynamic suspension.

That M4 is mad, not what I expected at all. Crazy! What an insane vehicle. I think Mat definitely jumped the starts, really would wish the team would draw his attention to that, but they might have and it could just not have been in the video. I also think it wouldn't have changed the result, but it might've been closer. Still cannot believe how the M4 flies off the line and down the road! Thank you for making this video! Had a lot of fun watching!

You guys should make a video of the most powerful 1.6 liter engines all against each other. For example the Hyundai i20n vs Peugeot RCZ R vs the Toyota Gr Yaris. The Yaris has an advantage of the all wheel drive but can it keep up in the rolling race with the Peugeot?

The BMW car was heavily tuned running an extra 500bhp. Far from stock.
If I'm not mistaken the car didn't break down. They had the wrong map on.
The surprise is that the (stock!) bike had an issue.

BMW has lot of issues with bearings in later M/S1000s, they went lead free and reliability in cars/bikes went out the window.
Also lot of them have top end issues too... just generally unreliable or poor qc
Welcome back Chris! We missed you! A bike can't start as a car does, it has to control the wheeling... anyway that car is insane. Mat started much earlier (did he jump the start?) That bike can do the quarter a mile in about 10 seconds, it means very close to that car. Thanks for the video, Mat!
The bike can do a 9.7s 1/4 and a 2.5s 0-60 but clearly the M1000RR was broken for the entire race, it just didn't sound right and the times for it are relatively slow. You also hear the bikes clutch slipping badly at 5.04.
Did not expect the tuned car to perform relatively well and the stock bike to break. Color me surprised 😂
Surprisingly even the Ford GT 2006 can outrun the 2023 WSBK bikes in a drag race like Axel Bassani's #47 Motocorsa Ducati.
That bike is a press bike . So many journalists used and abused that bike previously.

My every Saturday routine is finish work at 8.30am, drive home and be home 8.45. Get the breakfast out and on the table with a Coffee. 9am rolls by I get the notification, 9.05 I’m at the table clicked the notification, watching the carwow upload being amazed that somehow there is a brilliant competition week after week. Tremendous viewing.
That "weaving about" is probably torque steering. So nothing necessarily wrong with the differentials just the car scrambling to keep in a straight line while doing an AWD burnout.
I don't know how it works in England, but does the Evolve with 1000 hp have MOT? Here in Germany that would be important, because otherwise the car could be gone for a while.

What's funny is its just carwow. My buddy has a 880hp g80 m3 and runs a 8.9 quarter mile. Uses it as a daily too 😂

Agreed I own a S1000RR and I'd want at least 50-60 in second gear.
That and the bike seems stock with wheelie control & all aids on. Comparing modded to modded, the bike with a stage 2 & some bolt ons would have been a world of difference

It’s true power was to be unreliable and a prima donna that was really awesome in an open road like an autoBahn It would’ve popped in backfired gone into limp mode at 50 miles an hour and the bike or even a Honda Civic would be 20 miles in front of it ! in the artificial environment of “let’s stop until we flashed it and fixed it “ of course it is very fast, but that’s not the real world. And yes, I know quarter miles are not the real world.

Next time get the same bike but have it tuned with an ECU flash these bikes are heavily restricted and I know thats stock because he has a stock exhaust. The throttle valves aren’t even open 100 percent. So when you twist the throttle fully wide-open, you’re only getting like 50% throttle valve.

There is room for everyone to thrive and share their work/passion. If you used your words wisely, you could have recommended someone else's work without saying Evolve is "meh" and I would have researched about your recommendation. In the end, we are all here to watch fast cars, listen to a good exhaust note and cheer good content.
@@marcuscto and I hear what you’re saying but I’m not the one that charges silly money for parts (compared to competitors) with no additional appreciable value. They charge $3k for an m3/m4 intake. Infinity designs at minimum matches their quality and is $800 less. Dinan is $1,400 less. I could go on and on about what they charge in parts compared to competitors. Of course they’re a business and have every right to do so and apparently many people buy their products so there’s that. I just have less respect for those that do that. That’s all.

Botti is and just did 8.91 with that! He also has the worlds fastest stock bodied/chassis bmw (8.1 at 170) and the worlds fastest Zupra.

For those that don't know, the S/M1000RR do not have the stated power or speed without a derestriction tune. This is the case with all modern race bikes meeting the ever tougher Euro emissions standards, including Japanese bikes. Still it was a fun enough race, and shows how much money you need to put into a car to beat a bike, meaning most things on the road still won't come close to the bike, in a straight line or in corners.
I'd rather have an m4 than any motorcycle
The last run needs an * because that was an early start. Wheels rolled before the downward movement of the arms even started.

if you've watched motogp vs rimac nevera, you would know motogp launch like crazy, almost side by side with nevera at launch, 320hp hayabusa didn't even stand a chance, let alone h2r, but I'll get more motogp against everything else which I like 😄

The problem with bikes is they will do wheelie if pushed too hard. Cars won't. Some drag race bikes have their swing arm lenghtened significantly which allows them to go much harder at the beginning. Then tire friction comes to play, which cars also have better ;)

i'm seeing quite a few videos of people with new M1000RR's and the engine blowing and BMW giving them a hard time on warranty. insane when you think about the price of those bikes.

So what I've learned many times over at this point, is that it basically takes about a *THOUSAND HP fully built car on semi-slicks* to just barely edge out a completely stock Turbo S on the 1/4 mile.
Nah. A lot of cars destroy the overrated Turbo S. McLaren, Lambo, Ferrari etc.. Also there is a M3 on this channel with only a software tune *destroyed the Turbo S on both dig, lunch and brake test.* That M3 despite being all stock but only a tune was WAY faster than this 1000HP nonsense.
M3 is the better car anyway. More space, manual option, sound better, better weight distribution, both 4x4 and RWD, way more agressive, way cheaper. The S58 engine alone in tuning potential >>> Any Porsche that exist.
Again you don't know what you are talking about. This engine was design to have 1000HP from the factory due to GT3 FIA official racings. Look at Rebulls M4s, running 1K+ HP on stock engine 🤫. Heck even 700HP M3s do a way better 1/4 miles than this one 😂. If you were listening, the builder himself said it was the FIRST time this car did a drag race. Many ajustement to come. Stop downplaying BMWs, sound like a future Porsche fan if you know what I mean.
