@@markb3480 I keep waiting Patiently... I M confident it will be one of his future giveaway bikes... But I feel like there was a missed opportunity to have them in the shop at the same time.. For a side-by-side comparison of the RS an tuono 660
Dude if you're going to do this can you throw in something like a 675 or 848? It would be good to see how the larger capacity goes on more focussed bikes. Same with a more lazy 4cyl like a CBR 650 or something.
I'll take a GSX-R750 over any of these. Perfect split between a liter bike and a 600. $5000 less, with 130hp. Why they make these weak powered 600 bikes is beyond me.
Wanted the RS660 so bad but the Ninja 650 was way more comfortable. Happy that I chose the Ninja but DAMN every time I see the Aprilia, it hurts a little.
@@kevinhernandezretana2170 just to update, I totaled the brand new 2021 Ninja 650 by whiskey throttling and releasing the clutch instead of the throttle 4 feet from a parking barricade. Bike went airborne, I went down onto said barricade. 8 total miles of slow parking lot practice and then that happened. Full gear saved me from some bad injuries. Waiting for insurance to clear it all up and then I’ll hit the dealership again...
So my takeaway is that the R6 is more like the R6000 (because it's 1000% overkill for the street) the RS660 is like a miracle hybrid between a sport bike and a naked bike with great controls and rider modes... and the 650 is like when you get home and get to take ya pants off
I’d argue that anything with less than ~130bhp is never going to be “overkill” for the road. A Panigale V4?? For sure, but anything where you are really going to struggle to light up the rear tyres without TC engaged? Nah. This was supposed to be a video on “Best SPORTS bike”, not “Best Sports Tourer”. With these 3 choices, there is nothing close. I have a Street Triple 765 RS (naked) that will embarrass everything here except the R6. If you want to tour, get a touring bike. If you want a lunatic, fun, SPORTSbike, grab an R6. Or get a naked and actually learn how to ride. As for the R6 not being a great “first” motorcycle, my first bike was a K6 GSXR-1000. Any bike is only ever as stupid as the rider. I never intended to buy a K6 but it was (and still is), in my opinion, the best ever mass-produced superbike on the planet. No TC, no cat, titanium full system basically as standard and (legend has it) it’s the bike that BMW aped to create the S1000RR. Except they (in typical BMW style) managed to leave out all of the “personality” of the engine.
@@TheInfantry98that's ok by me. I hope most people don't worry about such things. For me cheaper insurance , msrp, less fan fare so cheaper to buy used too as well as the more usable power band make it better value. 😊
For the people that say that the zx6r was a better match, you are literally missing the point of the video. It is supposed to represent a softer fully faired motorcycle, not an equivalent to the r6... None of the bikes were in the same class you dummies.
Exactly, ones a traditional parallel twin, ones a 270 parallel twin that can rev a little higher, and ones a 4 cylinder. To the untrained, they're all in the same 600cc class. But in the real world, day to day commute I'd have the Kawasaki. Fun on weekends with some track, Aprilia. Track only, R6. Depends on where and how you ride. In town, stop light to stop light, Ninja would be better.
but it's priced the same as a 600cc supersport? If you value comfort, check out Honda and Suzuki. If you want the most power and speed, ZX6R. If you want a slow and uncomfortable cancelled bike, R6. Honda is as comfortable as Aprilia, faster, and won't have a mechanical failure after 3 weeks (see Yammie's newer vid on engine light lmfao)
@@sergeyzerkin8029 the CBR probably fits in between the ninja 650 and the rs 660, it pulls a bit harder in the top but the rs 660 is sportier, doesn't need an downshift for torque and has way more advanced tech and setup than the CBR. I would choose the CBR over the ninja 650 all day tho. I am still debating between the rs 660 and the CBR650R for my next bike
It demonstrated the most likely scenario a street rider would be in, and it showed the R6's weak point. If you want the best out of the R6, you gotta keep the revs in the upper third of its range, which isn't practical for most street riding situations.
@@willardivins3736 I don't live in the states, so pardon my lack of knowledge; by streets do you mean areas where there are traffic lights and you come to a stop every now and then? If that's the case, the way I ride, is completely opposite of what you stated. If I'm travelling at 40mph on the streets, I would keep it in gear 3, or high revs. If I need even more power, all I need to do is downshift. Only when I get on the expressway or freeway, then I upshift to lower revs to cruise more efficiently. As for the video, it still doesn't make sense to start accelerating at gear 4. A seasoned rider would know that if he needs to accelerate quickly and he isn't at the optimal gear, he would downshift (such as from 4 to 3), which wouldn't even take a second.
@@Cptjonmiller you are 100% correct. I think the makers of the video are coming from the standpoint of a new rider. New riders are really not going to know that you can ride in third gear on an R6. The r6 is the monster in the room. In reality the only weak points of the R6 is it’s comfortability from a experienced riders standpoint.
I couldnt agree with you enough, dude doesnt understand how to properly ride the r6. He's granny riding it and thats not why he's not getting the results he's looking for, I own a 2015 r6 .....

Sometimes it's about the feel and the look though too, at least for me. It's the experience of a sportbike for me! You're not wrong though! I do hate as a sportbike fanatic that people do tend to lump us all into the *Go fast, like an idiot* crowd that middleweights have attracted in the past.
@@Blottski I went from SV650 to street triple and JUST bought my first sport bike. I went current gen ZX6R, after i was 1 million percent convinced I wanted an R6. There is just no denying the ZX6R is PERFECT for how I ride and what I like to do, but I think the R6 is the most attractive bike in its class. People just have to be real about what they are looking to get out of a bike. They all go 'fast', some just get to fast a lot quicker than others, and some don't get 'fast' until you're at 10k RPMS. Just pick the right tool for your specific job
Yeah I got into motorcycles because of fate lol all my elders loved them my poppy and his brothers and all and I just love the culture (stunting especially) the ease of a little companion that's easier to work on than a car cheaper everything lol. I feel like a motorcycle is your dog like a best friend and a car is like a horse whether you have a compact like a donkey or a truck like a mule or a race horse, Kind of a weird analogy but I'm weird.
Rule No. 1: Never sell a bike. Ride that side until it dies. It would devastate me to ever see (or even imagine) someone else riding a bike that I loved ;). I don’t know how people sell bikes that they love. Cars?? No problem but there is just something about motorcycles that mean I never sell one I love. It either dies; or I wrap it around a tree ;).

Tbh I like all the 3 bikes. The 650 is a good sports tourer that can do track riding and will keep u satisfied for a long time. The 6r is a track beast and the rs660 is a great middle ground between the 2.
As a 29 year old who started on a 2006 Yamaha R6 and has never ridden anything else, yes it gets uncomfortable after riding for a while, but the full throttle acceleration, tight handling, and styling are addicting. With that said, I love my bike and have no trouble commuting on it 20 minutes to and from work or taking it out on a weekend ride for a few hours. But my next bike will definitely be something more comfortable!
06 R6 was my first, got up to 55k miles. I thought I got a crappy choice. I was wrong. Wanted a Gsxr 750 like almost every idiot out there so I would be fast but the R6 is fast from mid range to redline. Just sluggish under 6k rpm. However the bike shines as being the best handling sport bike. I have a 14 zx6r 636 now. Its fast. Has low end torque. Spins tires. Horribly uncomfortable. And doesn't like turns.
I'm 16, gonna be 17 in 2 months and I'm saving for the 06 r6, went ahead and got a job so my parents don't have to pay a dime from license, registration and the bike itself. I literally can't wait to buy it, I know its a bit too much for someone my age but as long as I ride under 6k rpm I should be fine, once I get the hang of it, I'm gonna let the beast out [safely of course] haha
3 days and 700km with the RS 660, second bike after mt 07 - amazing looks, it has 2 sweet RPM spots - 5k - 8.5k, easily maneuvrable at around 3k-4k RPM, the quickshifter is great, the cruise control allows you to go kilometers by just balancing your body using no hands on the handle which is cool, if you're the type of rider that doesnt wait for the traffic you just edit the Individual Mode (next to Commute and Dynamic) for you bike and leave it that way, then there's the race tab with lap timer, it has a wider 180 wheel which means more lean, stability is great, bike feels planted, 3 headlight modes (LED runing lights, meeting/short light, full beam). Since it's new, I didn't force it above 220 km/h, which it reached pretty easily. 0-150kmh is few taps of the quickshifter, you won't even notice the difference between high RPM bikes, it makes up on it before they get to 12k RPM, and it's much better for overtaking on commuting roads at 4k rpm. I did sit on CBR600RR, which had a nice feeling to it aswell but it was less maneuvrable, and on a 650 Ninja, which felt like a naked bike based on your position, has a very cut tank, not comfortable for long time speeds. tl:dr - RS660 is great
@@nomoreluke ...currently at 6500km, the balls are supposed to be yours, not the bikes. It goes 240 top, by that speed is as fast as any R6 before stopping their production, you probably havent ridden one, yet RS is more comfortable, modern and road oriented
@@razvanzav9341 That's kinda the point... I will never ever purchase a motorcycle that doesn't scare me. This thing didn't. At all. I couldn't give the slightest shit about a top speed... How often are you using the top speed on (as you call it) "a road-orientated bike"? A 10-year-old R6 would absolutely eat this for breakfast on road or track but that's not the point - I understand that they are not comparable motorcycles but... It's how you get there (acceleration, handling, etc.) that counts and, having test ridden the RS660 for 3.5 hours, it wasn't anywhere near as exciting as I was hoping. I've always desperately wanted an RSV4 and, while I obviously realise it's not going to be THAT, I was expecting it to be a lot more of an exciting ride. I have a Street Triple 765 RS that is a shitload more exciting than that RS660, plus cheaper and more comfortable. And a K6 GSX-R1000 but I won't start comparing that because, in my opinion, that's one of the best road-going superbikes ever made. The absolute dealbreaker for me with that RS600 is the handlebar setup. It's AWFUL. I literally have no idea why they came up with that solution! What are your opinions on that? Wouldn't you prefer a standard clip-on system. It's not like you can't get raised clip-ons... I don't get it.
I honestly listed it for sale at some point and started looking for a 2012 gsxr750, than I had such a sweet ride on the RS660, I decided keeping it for one more season. I havent ridden any R6 but one, around town, for like 10 mins, quick swap of bikes, so I didnt feel its power but strong throttles here and there. I'm 1.83, the handlebars are fine, or perhaps I dont know what better means yet. Drove it over 600km in a day, It feels a lot like holding urself into ur triceps when not crouched under the windshield, but I dont mind, as a gym veteran, I actually find it like a little wokout that I enjoy. I like the fact that it is really responsive at any rpm and it just goes when u gas it. I do a 35km road back and forth on a daily almost, sort of a circuit looking setup, fastest I did it was 15 min, but I can pick a minute or two faster now, around 140kmh average, which is what the romanian pros pull on the circuit. The point is, I feel the bike can be as fast as any high rpm crotch rocket on twisties, unless you are comparing top speed, which it lacks. 0-160 around 0.5 less than a r6, do you really feel that the difference goes in favor of the Yamaha, for a street daily bike?
@@razvanzav9341 I'm genuinely glad you love it mate and that's the important thing. I guess I just didn't fall in love with it (and I was REALLY expecting to). My issue with the handlebars is that, as far as I can tell, they look pretty un-adjustable. Am I wrong? You can always make fiddly little changes to regular clip-ons but these things look pretty set in stone and are more of a "touring" position, which I don't love on a bike like that. Anyway dude, I'm glad you love it - it'd be pretty boring if everyone loved the same motorcycles. I've got a Hypermotard SP on order for July and I can't wait. If you've never swung your leg over one and you have a Ducati dealership nearby, I strongly suggest to wait for a sunny day and give one a blast. I went in with the intention to order the Panigale V2 but 5 mins on that Hypermotard and I was grinning like an idiot. It's almost impossible to keep the front wheel on the floor!! Haha. It's kinda a really weird cross between a Supermoto and a Superbike. It's not something that I EVER imagined would work but fuck me it's a laugh!!! Haha.
Between the Tuono content, all the track videos, and Yam's memories of the R1, I have a feeling the next expert bike is going to be a proper liter bike.

i agree, the ninja 650r is the most practical bike with lots of low end (useable) power. thats what i hated about my R1 and zx12 i used to own, is i had to rev it way up before any power came on, i rode in the city a lot and hardly ever got into the power band, and when i did the cops could hear me coming. the 650 is also great on longer rides, very comfortable and i can get 50mpg on highway with cheaper regular octane gas.
I got old R6 as my first bike for about a 2 years. I wanted super sport without any compromise, tried GSXR, Ninja, but R6 oh man... This is it, not gonna change my Yamaha R6 for anything, maybe for R1 :)

"Having to wait for the power sucks Dick!" that's exactly how I feel about 600s (race reps). I've always felt that for an intermediate to advanced street rider the V-Twin 1000s were really where it was at. Hammer the throttle and instant power, for either lofting the front wheel or just pulling out of a corner like a freight train. Honda SuperHawk VTR1000, Suzuki TL1000R, and SV1000S the old Aprilia Tuono/RSV MilleR etc. all were so great.
Why should you get rid of it-it did the fastest 0 to 60 mph of the 3-all that crazy topend speed will just get you killed or ticketed and jailed and the insurance companies will drop you too.
It was in 4th gear just like the other 2 bikes. The gear indicator is at the bottom right of the tach. If they'd been in 6th for that, we'd still be waiting for that R6 to hit 80 lol
@Unai_79 It was specifically a fourth gear roll on test to show the differences in torque between the bikes. It was in 4th gear just like the other bikes, which is precisely the gear that it should have been in.
@Unai_79 It's not an acceleration test, it's a roll-on test. The whole point of a roll-on test is to show how much torque an engine produces in the midrange. The R6 is notoriously gutless in the midrange, and that's partly why they did this test; to show how the other bikes have more midrange grunt than the R6. Of course if they started the bikes from a stop and allowed the R6 to immediately wind up to 12k RPM, it'll accelerate faster than the other bikes, but for real world riding, that kind of test is completely irrelevant.
The R6 was my first bike. I wish I had got an SV650. It took many months to become bored of it and my back muscles to acclamate to the bike. But........those times when I could ring it's next and bang 166mph down a straight in the CA desert, that was indescibable how awesome it was.
Some nice bikes, Im glad I went with the yamaha MT09 for my first bike getting back into motorcycles after years. Its comfortable and has more than enough power and get up to go so far.
When I decided I was going to buy my first motorcycle about 2 years ago, I knew I wanted to get a fully faired sport bike. As I began to look at my options I quickly learned that my choices were either a 600 class supersport beast or something a lot less powerful in the 300 cc to 650 cc range. I eventually decided on a Ninja 400 which I loved and rode for 2 years and over 18,000 miles. I recently upgraded to a Ninja ZX-6R. I always wondered why none of the big 4 motorcycle manufacturers had produced a bike that combined the best of both worlds. A comfortable, fully faired sport bike ( like the Ninja 400 or 650 ) with the power of a supersport. Looks like Aprilia has done just that with the RS 660.
the RS 660 is a middleweight, the zx6r is a race bike with a little more mid end power, and more comfortable ergos. Not the same thing. The zx6r is definitely in class with the r6 gsxr cbr600 etc. Being slightly more comfortable, doesn't make it more tame like you said. I don't think those things make the zx6r any easier to ride, but definitely more bearable.
Was he intentionally lugging the R6 from 4k rpm to do a 40-80 pull? That’s very misleading. I’m not that surprised that the r6 hit 0-60 in 4 seconds because the launch plays a factor, but I am pretty impressed with the Ninja 650’s 0-60. I did not think they were that quick off the line.
Yeh and if he had taken two cogs on the r6, the camera would have pointed skywards and the time 60-80 reduced. But then the roll on is a better real world test.
I have actually seen the ninja do it in less than 3 in another video. All those 0-60s were a bit disappointing. I can definitely say, my 2021 650 is faster than this video made it appear.
I think constantly labelling it as a beginner bike is a bit obtuse. It's a perfect training bike for what we call direct entry in the UK (unrestricted license), but any rider can enjoy it. That engine has a long pedigree and the chassis (especially since they sent it to the gym) is now very good indeed. Also, a ~3s 0-60 is fast enough for anyone.
When I was growing up in the 80’s, a guy in my neighborhood got a Ninja 600. He immediately became the hood’s hero and I wanted one so bad. I have a Softail but would get the Ninja as a 2nd bike because I would love to have one. Not because it’s the greatest 650.
I own an r6 and for some reason it's true that the zh2 is more friendly and easy to ride. Let me explain, in the zh2 you can 0-60 and call it a day more applicable on the streets, in the r6 you need to be at least 60mph and you're in the space X program and the moment you look at the dash you'll be around 80-100mph.
Bought a 2021 Ninja 650 as my second bike about a month ago. (my first was a 2006 Ninja 500 that I pretty much rode to death over seven years and 48,000 mi of four season riding)
Definitely. Power doesn't do nearly as much to the mindset while riding as being comfortable. The MT10 has a lot more balls than an R6, but sitting upright on it made me feel much more confident than being hunched over. I'd happily take an upright bike with 500hp than a supersport where I feel contorted just to sit on it (or more like "in" it)
I think it's just more to do with usable power at sane speeds. Ninja 650 is making a ton of power at 45mph, but none at 100. R6 is making a ton of power at 100, but at 45 it's anemic, something like a R1 or zh2 makes tons of power everywhere.
I gotta say, as a beginner with auto-immune arthritis who is currently riding a 440cc single scrambler style bike, the ninja 650 is sooo appealing, I want to try a faired sportbike but I can't live with the harsh suspension and riding position.
honestly seems like these guys try to make the r6 out to be some slow piece of junk if you aren’t on track. I think the only downside to the r6 is the very aggressive ergonomics over long rides can be rather uncomfortable especially if you’re just cruising a highway for miles on end. I only ride my r6 locally and I never have trouble with the torque down low while riding through the city, stop light to stop light. Once i get out to the winding twisty roads it’s a blast. I didn’t buy an r6 to ride long distances and be comfortable, I drive my car when i need to do that. I bought it because it looks incredible, sounds amazing, handles greats. Overall i got the bike because it’s tons of fun and every time i get off of it i ALWAYS look back to see it and it just makes me smile.

It's a shame you didn't have the CBR650R with you. 4 cylinders with the seating position between the RS 660 / Ninja 650 and almost as much horsepower as the RS. No riding modes, just traction control and a divine sound ;-) I would see the bike between the RS and the R6 and I'll buy that CBR650R too :-)) But still a nice test that confirmed my opinion! Thank you friends ;-) Greetings from Germany
Mention the dealer support networks. Aprillia has like 8 dealers in the US. If you’re lucky a Ducati dealer can work on it. This is a big consideration when buying a bike in this class.
yes, but if they cannot make them reliable people will not buy them. R6 and other Japanese sport bikes will still sell more just because you don't have to worry about your engine possibly knocking after just a few thousand miles.
It's not really underrated, everyone is in awe when they see an RSV4 for example, it's more that they aren't practical for most customers. The RS660 is the most practical and economical bike they've made, and even then, if you want a dependable all around commuter bike are you really going to choose Italian over Japanese?
As current owner of Aprilia, and Triumph. I can confirm that build quality of aprilia is no match to Big Four (I've owned Suzukis and Yamaha), or even Triumph.
@@venomulimited 100% agree, do you think yammie was just trying to lead more riders to the 650s? Bc as a track rider there is no way he doesnt know how to ride that r6 to its fullest.
Andrew did not include the right clips for the 40-80 pull. The point was to show each bikes low RPM pull capability in 4th gear, it was to demonstrate how the R6 is gutless
Idk about yall, but I love the R6’s power band. It’s easy and chill to use on lower rpm’s, I like the lack of too much torque on the bottom end, and whenever you’re in traffic, 9/10 times you’re not gonna keep it at less than 5k rpms, to avoid shifting frequently. I usually cruise around 7k and once it opens up then I’ll bring the rpms down low.
I know you guys had the CB650, but you should check out and include the refreshed CBR650R sport bike! I have the 2018 older model (CBR 650F technically) and love it as my second bike!

Good video! In 2008 Aprilia did something similar. Launched between boring naked bikes and hardcore Triumphs they launched the Shiver 750. It had Brembo brakes, adjustable suspension, 95 hp, rider modes, Italian styling, abs and a good front end feel.
Wish I could get the rs660 with Honda reliability / serviceability , too many horror stories for me to consider it seriously. I’d like to have my bike in the garage ready instead of the dealerships
I’m green with bikes and this particular category is where I’d like to cut my teeth. Can you enlighten an absolute newbie as to what kind of issues plague the Aprilia? I was really interested in them but if I can avoid inadvertently biting into a shit sandwich I’d be deeply appreciative.
@@blackonefifty just look up RS660 problems. You’ll see engines exploding, crank cases cracking, multiple issues including oil pan leaks, Water pump leaks, gas tank leaks.
The perfect bike I’m my opinion is the Sv650s, it’s an older bike that just keeps running. It’s comfortable to just cruse on the streets and it’s also great for riding aggressively. The Sv650s can be a great weapon at the track and great street bike at the same time
Something went wrong with your timing on the ninja 650, the clock goes from 3.23 seconds to 4.0 seconds even when you slow it down to .25 playing speed. I really dont think its .77 of a second faster to 60 than the rs 660… for reference, the ninja h2 is about 3 secs 0-60. not complaining just calling it how i see it
It's a great platform for the 600s. Real 600s. Not I2 engines like the other two. Even though it is the slowest 600 it is the most agile. And I had no complaints in comfort like this video proclaiming. I'm cramped on a 636 ninja.
i JUST traded in my 2011 ZX6R that i've had for 11 years because it's so uncomfortable on the streets and i'm not on the track much these days. Traded it in for a new SR660, the test ride was great and it was so comfortable compaired to the ninja. Can't wait to collect my new SR660 next week.
Yeah. I want that alongside my Ninja 400. Bet the R7 will be superior to the R6 too because people want something comfortable these days with a little punch. Those speed bros got those 05- 09 sport bikes nobody wants anymore
@@amac_ so I'm pretty sure that is what everyone who wants the r7 actually wants. Right? Mt 07 is a great bike throw plastics and a tiny bit more aggressive riding position on it and it would be perfect in some people's opinion.
Having rode both the Ninja is much more uncomfortable than the R6. Faster, more electronic nannies, less agile, and all low to mid end power. Rather the R6 by a lot.
@@EjinRenos All Low to mid end power? A 636? You sure of your claim? Sure it is less peaky than an R6 but it is more powerful at ANY rpm (including the top)
@@Stratocasterhead51 So is a Honda s2000 versus a Nd2 MX5 but the Mx5 still delivers the power better and manages to be faster. I've owned both motorcycles I meant ion: 08 R6 and a 13 636. The R6 I ended up with right around 60k miles and the ninja is just at 17k. Don't care how much more power the ninja delivers, I will still take the R6 any day. Much more comfortable especially on longer rides. Less vibration. Doesn't run as hot. Easier to diagnose and maintain. And while it isn't as quick on the low end, given the R6 doesn't really move until the secondary injectors kick in at 6k rpm, it is an overall better motorcycle for turns and curves.
I think the one thing that is rarely touched on enough is the engine types and how they make their power.. parallel twin 650 is going to be different than a v-twin or an inline 4 that also had 650cc. But i guess thats more of an advanced conversation bcus you have to bring in things like compression, bore & stroke, cam timing, gearing and also tuning to get the big picture
It’s also personal choice when it comes to that sort of thing… I know they are more difficult to ride (at least on the road) but I MUCH prefer a motorcycle with a more pronounced “power band”. It probably comes from a childhood of riding 2-stroke motocross bikes but I “personally” HATE bikes with loads of torque down low. If a motorcycle allows you to be “lazy”, then invariably you will be. I’d rather sling my leg over a bike that makes you work for it, with ALL the power over 8k but aaaaaall in one digraceful, smile-inducing lump. I don’t want to be able to pull away in 4th thanks.
its the r6 for me fam. always been the r6. its just the sexiest bike in the line up. it sounds the absolute beans. its the fastest. and it handles the best. the r6 is the clear choice for everything except comfort where the r6 comes dead last. but my commute is like 25 minutes and im used to sport bike ergos so really for that amount of time the r6 is perfectly comfortable for what id use it for. making it the clear winner in my book.

All great bikes! But, I get it, the Ninja 650 is not a ZX6. But, to say it is a beginner bike only, might be a little off the complete truth. I have ridden and owned Z900RS Cafe, KZ750's, CB 750's and a lot of miles on a Road King. I have done some track time, but 50 percent of my riding is commuting. The rest of the time is multi day trips to the mountains. Nonetheless, the Ninja is a great bike for comfort, and to me, tons of fun. Unless you are willing to risk getting some paperwork and points, at 53, it's the best of the bunch.

I'll take a GSX-R750 over any of these. Perfect split between a liter bike and a 600. $5000 less, with 130hp. Why they make these weak powered 600 bikes is beyond me.

Oh man. Remember the top 5 days?

Well why then not CBR650R 2021?
@@sergeyzerkin8029 it's a 4 cylinder. That wasn't the point of the video. They did a casting call. The Ninja 650 and R6 is who showed up first
but it's priced the same as a 600cc supersport?
I think 40-80 for the R6 wasn't really fair. Rider didn't make use of R6's top end and started 40 at gear 4. Should have been on like gear 2 or 3.
Bottom line is the R6 deliver it's power at higher RPM
I rode R6 in the past and I am so glad now to have RS660 in my garage. It is perfect do it all bike and I can ride it for hours without any pain.

You can always make fiddly little changes to regular clip-ons but these things look pretty set in stone and are more of a "touring" position, which I don't love on a bike like that. Anyway dude, I'm glad you love it - it'd be pretty boring if everyone loved the same motorcycles. I've got a Hypermotard SP on order for July and I can't wait. Its the only thing I didn't agree with. 2nd, 3rd Gear tops is what I ride around on when I need to boogie.
The R6 runs where boorish all around. I know my R6 didn't really start to build any power till 6k rpm but this seemed like someone held back a lot on the R6
@@EjinRenos The newer model (I tried the '17) didn't get on the cam until about 10-11k, wherein it turns into a different bike. At the low end it feels like a very smooth small parallel twin. Very gentle pull.
7:15 talking like that about the ninja, people are gonna think it's slow, it's still very fast, it's just that the other 2 are even faster
You know a lot of people missed the point of the video when the top response is "That's not the point"
Ayyy I have a 2013 ninja 650 with 21k miles, full gp exhaust so it's super loud and it runs extremely good!
i agree, the ninja 650r is the most practical bike with lots of low end (useable) power. thats what i hated about my R1 and zx12 i used to own, is i had to rev it way up before any power came on, i rode in the city a lot and hardly ever got into the power band, and when i did the cops could hear me coming. the 650 is also great on longer rides, very comfortable and i can get 50mpg on highway with cheaper regular octane gas.
I have the 21’ 650 and I love riding it will keep it and give it to my son when he’s 16
I got old R6 as my first bike for about a 2 years. I wanted super sport without any compromise, tried GSXR, Ninja, but R6 oh man... This is it, not gonna change my Yamaha R6 for anything, maybe for R1 :)
Heavy agree.
My r6 was a dream bike.
True supersport. Missile on two wheels. An old carb fed missile that demands respect.
Grown beyond.... I've been riding for 11 years now and I can still thoroughly enjoy a 50cc scooter. People grow out of ENJOYING slower motorcycles?
We had a Ninja 650 and had great holidays on it.. I think it's a beginner bike that can be enough for a lot of people as a forever bike.. although I'd love a RS660
Have the 650 and have had it for 6 years now. Came from a gsxr 600 and tlr 1000. Love the 650. Went 2 years ago to "upgrade", tried a gsx750 (which was the best I tried) a r6 and fz1000/1, and ninja 1000 and a few others. End of day, made me appreciate the 650 even more. 23,000 miles in and still happy.

@@jedioutcast888 I am currently doing my licence on it and I really fell in love with this bike. I think it was a great choice. It handles really well once you get used to it.
Best intro ever - It's about time.

I've got an '18 Ninja 650. I absolutely love it. Honestly, I'll probably never get ride of it.
you are right, they are keepers, i have had LOTS of bigger faster bikes but none of them were keepers like the 650R.
Why should you get rid of it-it did the fastest 0 to 60 mph of the 3-all that crazy topend speed will just get you killed or ticketed and jailed and the insurance companies will drop you too.
The R6's time from 40-80 mph is not really comparable, when you did it in 6th gear
It was in 4th gear just like the other 2 bikes. The gear indicator is at the bottom right of the tach. If they'd been in 6th for that, we'd still be waiting for that R6 to hit 80 lol
@@mogthemoogle_160 Your are right sir, my mistake 😄😄
Dude these videos just get better and better! Love this new approach yam n crew are taking ;)
Umm...Honda has had a bike to fit that role for years
@@diamondheat9 which one
the RS 660 is a middleweight, the zx6r is a race bike with a little more mid end power, and more comfortable ergos.
Every bike above 40 hp is fast 0 - 100 higher hp is only useful for roll ons
I have actually seen the ninja do it in less than 3 in another video. All those 0-60s were a bit disappointing. I can definitely say, my 2021 650 is faster than this video made it appear.
The ninja650 rules off the line because it makes it's best power in the low to mid range where as a bike like the ZX-6R picks up in the high range.
I went for the Kawasaki 650 I almost sold it but kept it no regrets.
Yeh, they are really trying to sell the Aprilia, but they don't mention parts and the cost of maintenance.
I think her opinion on the Z-H2 means that sometimes, the safest bike for you is the one you are very comfortable to ride with.
"I feel like a gargoyle. "
That made me laugh 🤣
honestly seems like these guys try to make the r6 out to be some slow piece of junk if you aren’t on track.

Nice, I have a 2018 ninja 650. Great for me (second bike). Drooling over the Aprilia, though for the $5k I paid for the Kawi, it is light on the wallet and easy to ride

It's a shame you didn't have the CBR650R with you. 4 cylinders with the seating position between the RS 660 / Ninja 650 and almost as much horsepower as the RS. Mention the dealer support networks. Aprillia has like 8 dealers in the US. If you’re lucky a Ducati dealer can work on it. This is a big consideration when buying a bike in this class.
aprilia is such an underrated and underaprechiated brand. they make some of the best bikes
yes, but if they cannot make them reliable people will not buy them. R6 and other Japanese sport bikes will still sell more just because you don't have to worry about your engine possibly knocking after just a few thousand miles.
You need to see the FortNine video about quality to understand why no one likes it. (Italian quality is bad).

Wouldn't the 40-80 test on the r6 have been more accurate if you dropped a gear? I could be wrong but just wondering.
Yea yammie cred is kinda dropping. A r6 can easily do 0 to 60 in 3 seconds. An r6 is way faster than what was shown today
@@venomulimited 100% agree, do you think yammie was just trying to lead more riders to the 650s? Bc as a track rider there is no way he doesnt know how to ride that r6 to its fullest.
That's what i thought too. He starts the 40 run in like 3k rpm. He drove it like a 2 cylinder.
Andrew did not include the right clips for the 40-80 pull. The point was to show each bikes low RPM pull capability in 4th gear, it was to demonstrate how the R6 is gutless
@@yammienoob But why not also include that it is only gutless if you dont know how to ride to correctly?
Idk about yall, but I love the R6’s power band. It’s easy and chill to use on lower rpm’s, I like the lack of too much torque on the bottom end, and whenever you’re in traffic, 9/10 times you’re not gonna keep it at less than 5k rpms, to avoid shifting frequently. I usually cruise around 7k and once it opens up then I’ll bring the rpms down low.
I know you guys had the CB650, but you should check out and include the refreshed CBR650R sport bike! I have the 2018 older model (CBR 650F technically) and love it as my second bike!
As a Harley guy that might want a sport bike, this broke it down great!

Literally just look it up. It’s been done so many times... ZX-6R wins. It’s not new information
Same thought, zx6r should be on the list not N650 :)

The perfect bike I’m my opinion is the Sv650s, it’s an older bike that just keeps running. It’s comfortable to just cruse on the streets and it’s also great for riding aggressively. The Sv650s can be a great weapon at the track and great street bike at the same time
Dang. That Ninja 650 still has paper plates but you can see it has aftermarket exhaust already.
Something went wrong with your timing on the ninja 650, the clock goes from 3.23 seconds to 4.0 seconds even when you slow it down to .25 playing speed. I'll be honest, I did not expect the lower hp 650 to be faster 0-60 then the R6 and RS660
The ninja650 makes it's best power in the low to midrange-you can get to the legal speed limit quicker on a ninja650 than most bikes out there.

Would have loved to see the ZX6R 636 in there too because it's definitely a little less aggressive ergonomics than the R6 with more streetable torque.
Best video format ever keep this going!!!

GREAT song for the intro. Love that song. Good taste 👍🏼
We need an R-9 with the triple cylinder engine...it would be a sick bike
Absolutely
Now this makes since. Great trio.
