Hi ALEX ,I like those video's the best. When you repair stuff if you DON'T run into problems the video is great for a repair on the same make and close model of the item. BUT when you run into one that makes you fail a few times ,i learn HOW you are making a decision on where to look next and why. When the 133x component read close to the same on both ,that was great.we could see your disappointment. At that point the next step was where we all learned with you.
It is a pity that the manufacturer does not provide professionally registered establishments such as yours with the circuit diagrams. Okay, I understand copyright, etc. But, you are providing an excellent service and the manufacturer could provide you with screens too. Plus much more. Well done. I am a professional at nearly seventy years young and still employed in the electronic service industry; I find it be be interesting and really enjoyable and a challenge. Brilliant and logical fault finding, thanks for sharing, as always.
@@Gigaheart Auto manufactures have admitted more than once that a vehicle can relatively easily be developed to last a million miles with minimal maintenance. That's including chassis and drivetrain. Good Call Alex. I had a feeling that was the problem from my own experience building ham radio gear for myself. Great video. It's really satisfying when we learn together. I think I was as happy as you were. LOL I gotta get me one of those soldering pens!!!
52 years ago my brother in law had a portable Sony TV that stopped working. I asked if I could look at it & he said yes. I took a spare wire and attached one end to ground and started touching the other end to resistors. I touched it to one and the TV started working just fine so I soldered that wire in place. Some times all you need is luck, I was 11 years old.
All useful vehicle tuners are expensive. If it can be fixed, it's well worth it. I spent 700 on one for my Honda 11 years ago, still have it (and the car). I want to get another for my truck, but I don't really want to mess with too much on it besides firming up shifts so I haven't justified the cost, because it's just as expensive.
WoW! Another outstanding video repairing stuff, and that Red Camera you showed prevously is something to die for. Say, if I get this Red Camera and other tools, will I be able to repair this stuff too? Lol! Most likely not, I could buy the hotest car on the market, and I still wouldn't be able to drive it. Really enjoy watching you, though!
Who would have though it was that simple inductor. Great fix as usual. It would be nice if you could find somewhere that makes screens that work for the mini max. I am sure you would put in a large order if someone had good ones.
I’m a bit confused . It came in with a aftermarket screen , presumably replaced in the past , but replacement screens are not available ? Perhaps the manufacturer just changed suppliers ( like with the red glue ) ? Nice work as always
Did the inductor test ok out of circuit. If its there to quiet the pulse of AC? letting Dc through clean, was it damaged inside? or just too much resistance now?
Why not replace the chip on the new lcd with the one from the old screen? There is usually a firmware in the chip on the old screen to that married the screen to the board
Replacing the diode was the key step in figuring out the problem. Heat was not detected on the voltage controller / inductor before the diode was replaced.
It's normal for the diode to heat up as well as the two other components on top of the board. That is based on my finding inspecting many good working tuners under a thermal camera.
Asus ROG Strix SCAR III G531GU (Black screen issue, CPU and keyboard and sound Every thing is working . Even secondary monitor also working when HDMI is plugged to laptop. I gave my laptop to one of the Asus service centre, they said like some chip problem is there with it and then they said I can’t work on chip you need to replace a new motherboard)🥺🥺 Any other way ? Please help me out
Did you test the customers screen after this. i know you have experience but isnt it at least worth trying instead of just defaulting to charging the customer seems shady
I love what he says. "He is not the bad guy." Let us not hurt his feelings." LOL Like Bob Ross the painting guy says. "No mistakes, just happy accidents." That is rare that an inductor was bad.
Could have used the Oscilloscope :) it would have given you an idea on what component may be impacted based on the signal. :) they should really send you the schematics.... I would love to move to Northridge and start working with you. I would need temporary housing ( a mattress and a room ) for a few days until i got paid and be able to rent a room. I am US citizen that lived in Germany for 25 years. Send me a bus ticket and I come over Alex ! :) insha ALLAH everything will work out !

Man having the spare boards is so valuable.
Thanks
The Inductor was the 'Bad-Guy'...Great Differential Diagnosis, without a Circuit Diagram !!! Good Work !!!
Nice, but why you didn't check with the customer display? :)
You are definitely a master of your trade , I'm trying to change an HDMI port on a 3070 graphics card at 900° with low melt and it will not budge😢
Good find, I would not have thought a broken Inductor was the problem. Very unusual fault!
Hey Alex! This is how occasionally we repair boards as well. Good work!
Good Call Alex. I had a feeling that was the problem from my own experience building ham radio gear for myself. Great video. It's really satisfying when we learn together. I think I was as happy as you were. LOL I gotta get me one of those soldering pens!!!
Inductor core probably cracked when it was dropped and changed the inductance. Happens when they overheat too.
You have the stamina to find the bad guy, keep up the great work, love the videos
Unusual fault, but totally explained in the end, by the customer description (MiniMax tuner sustained a hard drop). Hard to find though :)
Right. I fixed a TV that was dropped and the flyback broke the pcb. I guess it was the right angle and the weight.
I would have tried the old screen, once the issue had been identified and fixed; just to be sure there were two faults, and not just one.

Very informative video. Fault finding with visual inspection. Watching from Kenya
Did you try putting the customer's screen back on to see if it actually worked?
Yes it didn't work. Just displaying a white screen.
I just checked the online cost for these devices. Approx $650 in US - I can see why repairs are cost effective.

That inductor was discolored from start, that should be enough hint to change it, ive noticed it from 4:38 in the video. Nice work however.
It was damaged when dropped.
Love your accent an your channel and your tweezers!!!

D2 is a BAT54 Schottky diode in a SOT-23 package. Which variant I'm not sure but probably variant 3 where both diodes point to the one leg at the top.
well done

Hi. Learned a lot.
Thanx
Hey Alex, if that screen looked different than the og . Is it possible that it was a replacement maybe a different part number

Good job mate 👍
The multimeter PeakTech 2025 A has a PC software that displays via the PC, maybe you want to use it for your videos?
What made you think of the inductor? You measured it previously.
