glad you are finally showing Big Boss assembling he deserves a lot of credit and we rarely see him work cause assembly and disassembly is also an art form.
This is a fantastic channel... Amazing repairs and best commentary ever... "that means we're going to charge the customer 6000 dollars" hahaha 😆🤣👌
Sometimes customers bring their car to my shop for diagnostics and it needs 1000 dollars in repairs before I can even safely test drive it!
Everytime I see a freshly replaced connector, I ear a voice in my head "solid, solid, solid, solid....".
Am I the only one?
🤣
Same 🤣 , first when i heard that it sounded like sully or Sull'it but i realised it's solid , the accent makes it sometimes challenge to understand
Having video evidence of what is wrong stops, people saying you are wrong. Well done on this video Alex
I see the screen issue all the time when a customer attempts to change the entire shell to something "cooler" like the transparent colors. The requirement to gently heat the adhesive and essentially peel the screen off the front frame seems to end in disaster more times than it doesn't. Most of the time a removal pick was slid directly into the ribbon cable and that's that.
did that on a really old DS Lite. Spent hours methodically and carefully replacing the shell, only to have the top screen flash and bottom screen not work at all. I couldn't find any damage and it may just be improperly seated ribbon cables (they looked finicky), but after hours I was tired of messing with it.
😂 $6000 for repairs, love it!!! Please send thanks to your dad for sending my order out the same day, I recently purchased the NF Short and 20V Charging Station back in April... excellent packaging and shipping was fast.
Better than factory! You are the best technician out there.
"Y'all know that i solder like superman" - what a sympathic way of being self-assured 🤣👍 absolutely love that!
Lol he gave you trash to fix, but said it was just a flat cable....nice, what a transparent integrity behavior. Well done, better than factory as usual.
I love watching Big Boss reassemble the device at the end of the video. Also I did order amtech flux from north ridge and it did arrive very fast.
Hi Alex, I had my full protective UV-light costume on with UV-light glasses while watching your video. I'm dissapointed that you didn't use UV light.
This is how Arnold Schwarzenegger will sound making a repair on UA-cam 😂😂😂
Great video! Big Boss like Big Boss of the videogame "Art of Fighting"?? LOL 🙂
"You can see the chip took its clothes off!" "You can see the thighs" Lol 😂😂
These are the type of customers that inform you they already precisely know what is broken and what to replace where, implying that they only sent it to you due to their time being too precious, otherwise they wouldnt be throwing money away, getting robbed by repair shops.
HOLY SHIT BIG BOSS ON THE SCREEN!
$6000 is not enough. The $6000 is just for giving you bad information. Then $10.000 for the repair.
I love the humour whilst watching the repairs.
In another universe he's a plastic surgeon. And when he's done, 'better than factory!'
4:51 "Beware of the Blob!" 😆
5:07 Your golden! 😂👍
My brother is psychic, he can found short without thermal camera and any tool! 🤣😁
Practice DOES NOT make perfect.
Practice makes PERMANENT. If you practice bad habits, they will become permanent, the same applies if you practice good habits, they will become permanent.
I love ya brother. Keep making them videos.
Thumbs are not fingers. You have 8 fingers, two thumbs. Ok 7.5 now
Big Boss looking ganskter as always
6.000$ $ is way too much for that repair even with ne2 screen.
Solder like Superman shirt?
😅😂😂😂Great job as usual, I just love it
6000 bucks, smashed a smile on my face :D
did the new screen the customer fitted cause the other faults
6:04 look that mxx or whatever is written on it . for me it looks little sus :)
i wish be like you good skills 💪
Solder like superman😂😂😂😂
You have nothing on me 😂💀
Nice job
Big Boss make it look easy lol I hate repairing switches i have big hands lol
Thumbs up, dude. That's all.
I wonder what the customer said when Alex said 6000 dollars. 😂
He said plus tax or all included ?
@NorthridgeFix I was expecting the customer to say, "I'll just pay for a no fix". Lol nope not happening. Great Video Alex as always. Thanks for the response.
That sounds like a we don't want to work on it price to me.
i wanna know what he said too "curiosity". 🙃
@@NorthridgeFix Seriously though, how much did the repair actually cost, including display and battery?
I have purchased many of your items from the shop and I agree with the speedy shipping and quality products Alex. Thanks a bunch for all your hard work and patience to teach. You and Big Boss are gems!
Does Big Boss ever lose any screws to the 9th Dimension, or after reassembly have spare screw left over? His counter I can see is very organised, it's amazing how he remembers the order in which components go in, and which screw goes where... You have an amazing team/family Alex. Thank you for sharing your repair knowledge and Big Boss's skills.
Doesn't work like that, it's the 9th dimension that brings screws to Big Boss.
@@Keo Ahh Yes
Stole some Screw from Alex and bring it to me 😂
@@Keohes a big boss at 9th dimension🤣
😂😂😂@@Keo
Thats my switch, so to start off i wasnt trying to fool anyone on the description. i did my best to explain what was wrong from what i knew. i dont have all his fancy tools to diagnose all that other stuff, thats why i sent it to him.
i bought that switch brand new on launch day so its a couple years old. its not custom or a special addition or anything fancy. but has all my info and saved data on it. only thing was the original plastics where allready breaking apart so i ordered a new shell and atempted to change it my self. bent the connector pins and thought that was all since it was working fine before i took it apart other then the shell falling apart. i did take it to a local repair shop and dont know if they caused extra damage or if it was me. but they said it was not fixable. but glad to see alex was able to get it fixed 😁👍🏽
$6000 tho?????
@@Aamer91it wasn’t $6000. 😂
I'm a retired tech and I watch a lot of repair videos. Alex is the best I have ever seen on or of the internet. Thanks for all your hard work.
The customer is also faulty! 😅😅😅😅😅😅🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I remember I once had a very badly cracked screen on my phone that I went in to get replaced. Despite it being very hard to read the screen, the tech checked every little last detail of the phone painstakingly making sure everything from the calling, wifi, sound, etc and all general function of the phone was OK before doing the screen replacement. Even checked voltage draw and charging. I didn't really understand why he went through all that trouble for simply a broken screen I asked to be replaced, but after watching some of these videos, I understand fully now.
so you mean there is a short in your new screen which has been replaced ?
The CUSTOMER is never wrong. Now, that yahoo who brought you guys this busted Nintendo…. well…. that’s another story entirely! 🤣
My old boss would say ' rule#1 = the customer always lies '
The most true saying is “The customer is NEVER right”. Over twenty years in retail taught me that.
LOL. you always get a laugh out of me.. thanks for the good times and lessons at the same time.
Your soldering and repair skills are on a whole different level. I really enjoy your videos.
I have to agree, its just wild seeing it done so precisely by a human. And I worked in the industry for decades.
that's what happens when you unplug the screen cable without unplugging the battery, the customer fried 3 components trying to change the screen bezel.
I see that a new Nintendo Switch retails for around $300. How often does your repair invoice exceed 75% of replacement cost?
I'm really curious about this too, is it even worth it to repair something like a switch rather than just buying a new one?
Fotos, fotos, fotos y fotos .....videos. todo lo q digas despues son solo palabras, tienes q tener pruebas para defenderte y no hacer videos con nada.... quedando como principiante.
Wow only 6,000 dollars, that's not expensive at all. Great work, love what you do.
Here in the UK, the favourite customer and/or ebay seller phrase is 'probably an easy fix'. If you ever see that or the infamous 'untested' - RUN!
Yep! Or they tell me "I saw a video and it's just a five minute job." (yeah, that 1hr and 5min video they edited down to ten minutes, right?) or they say "I used to fix this stuff but I don't have time anymore, but I know it will be easy for a guy like you." 🤣
There is a translation for "it's probably an easy fix". It means "I've already tried to have it fixed at 3 different shops and now it is completely ruined" or "it has layers shorted and traces melted, eventually with exploded holes in the motherboard".
That's all I can think of when I read "it's probably an easy fix".
or «just for a check-up»
'Yesterday it worked perfectly!'
@@Dandan-tg6tj lol yes exactly.
Soldering Superman indeed , now I know what S state for on his shirt lol , عاشت ايدك والف رحمه على والديك
nice job alex ...
unfortunately in electronics repair this is the nature of what we deal with.
i run into this a lot more than i care to but one simple fix sometimes does turn into multiple things that is generally caused by the customers involvement beforehand.
i spend more time than i care to repairing their mistakes just so i can get to the real problem.
great video , keep em coming 🥰
I dont understand .. new nintendo switch is like 1k,, why 6000 $ ? that is more then 6 time of new switch... this does not make sense
$6000 dollars for the fix........? you are joking right ?
Troubleshooting hardware can really be challenging. I appreciate the methodical way in which you diagnose a problem.
Hey. I got to this video when it was 5min upload time and already had 26 likes. After watching there were 115 likes when clicked. Alex ...yr videos are too addictive.....well done. 😊
I would charge $10.000 for the better then factory job!
Maybe in 50 years time, its a collectors item worth $50k
You never know!
holy cow.
bad battery
bad screen
bad connector
bad max chip
Haven't watched a video of yours for awhile. The time lapse of Big Boss reassembling the device is a nice addition.
Every customer: "It's probably just a loose wire..."
"...and one little more cable I ripped from the motherboard (wi-fi connector actually) ... and if you open it anyway, check those two little insignificant small components I managed to break with the screwdriver and I don't know what they are... and maybe the screen is still working even if I dropped it and it is cracked a little bit..... and maybe the battery needs replacement, I don't know but the battery is just a little bit swollen, no big deal. The whole thing might still be be working after all with no intervention, as far as I'm concerned".
Yes, I know what you mean, I get consoles pretty often from clients saying they only need dusting and the thermal paste changed while the consoles don't show any image whatsoever. I learned my lesson and I am filming everything.
As a system manager I hear this all the time, looks like a simple thing to me, me saying to the person that came to me for help, Why are you here with me with a simple problem in your eyes. If it is simple you can fix it by your self. If not than it is not simple and let the people that have the knowledge to fix it work on it.
@@rafalbuijs5061 In most cases, I think it's largely their hope over my experience. Perhaps this is an easy job, cheap fix, etc. I try to be as kind as possible when I tell them that such a symptom is pretty much never a 'loose wire'. I mean, loose wires are still thing in 2023 - but not on these devices lol.
Alex is down to 7 fingers this week.
I have ordered a few times from the store and always happy with the service. Quality products and shipping is always fast! 5* every time!
I have purchased a few items from you guys. Always fast and they arrive in pristine condition.
Ebay Switch, savaged good parts and replaced with faulty ones. Then customer bought it, send it to you for repair, and discover half of the device is broken. 50$ switch now mutates into a 6000$ one.
And probably still has more parts broken.
Nice job as always, experiences pays off.
I've checked my comic book collection. There's no indication that Superman has any soldering skills whatsoever....
A M A Z I N G JOB 🎉 that soldering on the hdmi is just art
He didn't solder an HDMI port. The hell is wrong with your brain? The LCD connector is not the HDMI connector....
prob should not say it cost 6 thousand dollars, a ton of potential clients are going to run away and not use you if they dont understand sarcasm or jokes. i hope that was a joke anyways
"we're gonna charge the customer for 6 thousands" this one got me laugh hard LuL
Good Job. You aren't using your technique of wicking using hot tweezers. It's practical is narrow areas. Keep going
Everyone knows Superman has insane soldering skills. So when Alex says he solders like Superman we know exactly the level of skill he is referring to.
LMao He turned to Dr. Phil after so much solder smoke :))
The Customers wrong? Never! 😏
Alex your soldering skills are eclipsed only by your humility regarding your soldering skills 😂
I've had My Broom 25 years, its had 6 new heads and 3 handles
So the screen is faulty, the battery is faulty, the chip is faulty, what does that mean? That means we gonna charge 6000 dollars for the repair lmao hehehhhe
Add some flux to your wick makes desoldering a breeze. Not to much ofcourse only the length you think you need.
HAHAHAHA 😂 I just lost it when you said you are charging him $6000, that’s one expensive Nintendo Switch.
Selamaleykum
What brand and model measuring instrument do you use to measure short circuit?
Look at their shop. You'll see a picture of it there. Everything they use on the benches, is carried and sold in their shop.
So true, if the customer "was always right"... They'd fix it themselves
$6000 lol
In this day and age everyone is a specialist..... They "know exactly" what is wrong because it looks so simple, but by just putting in a cable upside down and turning the device on the whole bloody thing can, and will, go up in smoke. Then, and only then, will they send it to a professional repair shop. Customer is, in general, always wrong - and I have been a customer too - lol. I can fix any electronic device, but don't ask me to work on your car.... honestly, don't ask me....
Cars nowadays, are rolling computer systems, and you just aren't used to the environment that mechanics work in. They now need to understand some computer basics, like (CAN) network troubleshooting, tracking and reading data sheets to follow circuits.
"They "know exactly" what is wrong because they studied it and were taught some very important concepts, that cannot be learned by working on tech. Some things you just have to get an education on, to know what you're doing.
My favorite item I've purchased from you is hands down the chargeable grinding pen.
Goodness Alex, this switch had a bunch of problems. Persistence pays off along with experience. You and Big Boss ,the boss of all bosses, what a team!
Hell yeah charge him 6 thousand dollars everything was broken the screen battery and motherboard.
As a good practice I always take a photo from the area I'm going to work on in case something blows up or goes to the nineth dimension ... it takes you only a second to do but can save you hours of guessing what was where!
6000 dollars ?
Alex handing out a surprise bill. Surprise the audience. The customer most likely is satisfied with Alex's generous heart.
Everything was working when I opened it up. Yeah? Then why did you open it up?
Damn $700 microscope.
I'll just squint.
Mr Alex, really 6k for the fix or you just joking? Im from greece, i dont know about the costs in us..
Obviously joking
12:03 The stronger part is the one you did not mention; when people think with their crotches.
bro with $6000 u can just build a pc that will emulate switch games at 60fps
I wonder how many Switch you can buy with $6000USD?
So i had same issue with some customer, and at that point repair plus all those part will cost as buying a new one
You mentioned about the component and smoke. I was told a long time ago that all electronics runs on smoke, if you let the smoke out they quit working
You made my day with that joke, or I can better say my night.
*Ha, ha! Welp, you won this thread. Cheers!*
Who let that secret out!!!
As a mechanic never trust another diag. It will screw you every time.
The "just the connector" story is always strange to me for a console like this. If there was no other problem, why did you disassemble and damage the connector? For fun? Who believes this?
so thats my switch. and yes acually i did replace the shell for fun i have more then one btw. but that one the shell was cracking and its a v1 modable switch that i got on launch day, so i want to save it. it WAS working fine before i took it apart. just the plastic shell was falling apart its normal for those v1. and i did damage just the connector itself when i was putting it back together. i dont know if that caused all the other issues that he found and fixed. i did also try a local repair shop so dont know if they caused more damage to it. but thats why i sent it in for them to fix. i had no idea all that was wrong with it after i damaged the connector thats all
