Dave, everyone hates the printer.
Printer is my enemy! I'm not even joking. At work I always run into some kind of problem with the printer. Window shutters has joined it in its quest to defeat me, recently
I'm an INFP. I have ALWAYS said "I'm an ideas man." I'll give you A1 ideas all day long. Please, someone pay me to come up with ideas for OTHER PEOPLE TO IMPLEMENT. Please.
There are jobs like that. But they also expect you to personally supervise the implementation.
Sounds like the way to go. For example, architects don't grab a nail gun and head to the job site.
I have to say that I really admire the work you're doing in terms of researching and studying typology.

.....the printer. As a college freshman living away from home for the first time, surrounded by new information, new smells, new people, people doing the whole "college experience" better than me, my printer ran out of ink. And rather than admit I didn't know how to change the cartridge, I never used it again. Found out you could use the library printers for free and pretended that was my plan all along.

(note- I probably could keep track of all of it, but man, the potential reality has been stressful and daunting enough on its own to keep me from taking the plunge)
All of what you wrote, I relate with so much. I tell myself to focus on real life stuff that is in the present. However, I get distracted with my future plans and constant researching and information seeking.

My husband is a Printer Technician (23 years of it). As I write this, he is doing his online course work and writing his tests for ... not just ONE printer, but various Makes and Models. Everyday he and his fellow techs face a new problem/issue they haven't seen before with these machines; that have them scratching their heads! What hope do the rest of us have?? He laughs about how a lot of office workers/customers are so happy to see him...as if Superman walked in the door ... rescuing them from their evil printer nemesis. (Not all heros wear capes ... they carry tool bags. Lol)

THIS EXACTLY! When i started my new job at a callcenter they had no guide lines so i had to create "how to's" . I am great on the phone with people but when it came to tasks on the computer i needed intricate step by step details for what seemed like long processes. Basically how u guys say u only see your demons i could only feel the st when completing tasks and not how easy the nf was coming to me.
5:46 Those kind of videos are super validating to me as well, just destroying physical reality. Printers are some of the worst pieces of technology ever and it doesnt seem like they've gotten any better over the years
ST stuff can be the most insanely boring stuff, but if it falls under a topic you care about (mainly something creative), it's not nearly as bad.

As an INFJ, I always have to put extra effort on my Ti in your videos so that I get it myself cuz I just don't like the Te shades and I need to take time (or spend extra effort to cope with time) so that I can make everything fit into my system lol

Practical reality had been banging on my door so I went out a window.
I made a 49 step color coded flow chart for cleaning the apartment. Anything to give me a clear plan of action to make starting the job easier. Still didn't help my motivation. I just transferred all the info into an app to manage the rotation schedule of each task. We'll see if that helps. 😓
As an ST, I love watching step by step videos, Im at ease that they're there to help me out when I need to do something and need a manual. But I dont take notes like what Dave and Shan are doing, I just memorized it after doing it a few times, I don't want to look at someone's note and they won't tell me how to navigate thru it. You mean I have to figure out how your notes work, no, Illyjust watch a youtube video where there's a guy who can tell me step by step so I don't mess up 😂

I need to do this for the grocery shopping because i'm having trouble keeping to a budget. I kind of like to wander around the shop and get inspiration for recipes.

Speaking of email, does anyone else (especially fellow INFP's) HAVE to mark all email as read even if you don't actually read it? Plus, have folders and subfolders for them?
I wish the rest of my life was as organized as my inbox rofl.

😂 OMG. That doc. is great! I usually just throw the computer acrooss the room, cut myself cleaning up the shards, and then use a credit card to buy a new computer. It’s okay- I have lot’s of credit cards.

i dont know how i did it but i am improving in this area. i haven't gone as far as writing my own itinerary but i know when to use what tools i need and where to get them from. a combination of life experience and intuitively attracting life experiences that mould the process.
Well did such lists. But then forgot that I had them. Found them years later and was like wtf I totally forgot that I had them.

Do what I do. Just donate everything to the Goodwill. Less stuff means less stuff to look after. I would rather sleep on the floor and subsist on bread and water than make a spreadsheet like that. Really. The floor is surprisingly comfortable and water is delicious.

So true about me. I hate doing the practical details to make stuff work. It is like drawing out the exact sketch of the design like an architect.
The doc with the links is super impressive and I am now going to do the same thing myself.
I enjoy ST work, even play micromanagement games and create charts for them, but that list wouldn't work for me (NT). There is always the possibility that I will find a better model or better price elsewhere. I cannot miss opportunities for improvement, but then I do suspect I am consume first. :) Sleepy Dave must conserve his energy.

I use Trello app rather than Excel for documenting equipment, paying taxes websites/steps. For something to be printed like a by month checklist like April for Spring cleanup, etc. Excel would be better.

I'm fairly certain that I am Ni/Fi SBCP and I've realized that I tend to date ST types because they will handle the ST chaos that I dread. I am notorious for turning to my ISTP boyfriend and saying things like "fix this" "open this" "deal with this" and he does it all no problem, but for me it's the most stressful thing in the world and if I dont have him to do it then whatever it is just doesn't happen.
I also loathe the printer, and wine corks... wine corks are the worst thing ever invented! How am I supposed to get them out?! HOW?! I HAVE TRIED A THOUSAND TIMES, IT DOES NOT WORK. I have resorted to smashing open the top of the bottles if I cant get help.

I must be NiTe. I have this strong belief of "performing a principle" or "organizing my world as I would my spirit". I talk in terms of generalities, and I suppose it can be a tad boring to all my specifics-inclined peers.
As an ENTP, I actually related so much to those final two videos, except I related with the person throwing the printer/coffee machine. I absolutely suck at interpreting practical instructions hahahaha
It's not just you. I have been led to believe I'm Ni/Te with demon Se... I'm actually ok with a number of different tool repairs, but printers are my demon technology. I dread printer errors because I never know what it's going to want, haha. Very curious to take classes in your program, I've been eating up the UA-cam videos, and I'm pretty picky about content (demon consume seems likely).

I don't think I have as much trouble with stuff as Dave. However, I like the idea of the docs. I like the idea because it would be nice to remember how to solve a problem that took an hour before and if I could remember it I could do it in 5 minutes. And asking for help, I feel like that guy on the video. Some people at work I can say the simplest thing 7 times in a row and they won't get it. I want to shake their head and tell stop thinking about it, just listen to every word I say, do it and then realize you didn't have to reinvent the wheel. I might have a control issue there. Lol

Well shit. My work excel spread sheets look exactly the same. Because I was absolutely running in to the same issues.
Also, the printer rarely works when the moment counts. But works at random other points in time.
I certainly love to be in a dreamland, live by my values and care about big ideas, but I am also very anal and detail-oriented. It’s not something I had to work on. It comes naturally. I am a perfectionist with all the small things. I believe myself to be an INFP. I’m also an INFP with a science background 😒 what functions would be responsible for looking at a big picture but also being very meticulous?
I'm an NF, but I make sure a lessen my abstractions so that everyone understands what I'm saying.

Ahh white board land! Trips there fml, and are brilliant in equal measure. I get this. Thru the years I've had to compulsively concentrate on the st ing. The day job in esthetics forces me to be on my toes with science. And I dig me some science. It is active hard work to solve this stuff. In that realm, st, shes my bitch. But that is not who I am when I am at home. At home in my jammies I'm in the white board land with my coffee, characters, keyboard/typewriter and books. Lol I will say this though, the science is just a place to start. Imho. Someones skin is like a personality. Nuanced. So much is Subjective. If I didnt live in white board land and take on each new client as an island, I would not be serving them well. Practicioners who do the science without concidering the person only see some measure of success because at the end of the day, Science is just what we as a group assume we "know". Im not knocking it by any means. I like the knowing. But there is sooooo much we can't know in this way because it is specific to the individual. These are fluid variables that deserve concideration. Thus, We need white board land to do it right. Since this lockdown, omg. Very little st going on bruh. Im tired just thinking about getting back into it. But I will make st my bitch again, and it will feel so freaking satisfying.

I'm an NF that grew up in a very religious household. To debate those beliefs with my pastors and teachers, I had to develop Ti. That skeptical outlook lead me to stay clear of New Age, astrology, chakras etc. I think NF's waste so much of their well-meaning energy on junk science and ideas that "speak" to them. Blegh! Let the truth speak to you!

I am an INTJ whom hates politics (it is full of greedy liars and cowards.) I love science in all of its forms, but not all of its applications (GMO and toxic pesticides and various environment destroying effects.) I even love the weird shit. Creepy pseudoscience is fun to research and analyze.
