I subscribe to your statement!!! After having learnt the alphabet (3 first videos) and configurated my keyboard for wiritng the language, I am now "atacking" the video n° 4. It is amazing how similar Yiddish is to the German Swiss dialect spoken nowadays! Both pronounciation and spelling show the common origin of the two languages (i.e. Mittelhochdeutsch by the end of the Middle Age).
Ok, since I already speak German I feel more at home. So, when pertaining to nouns, they are-the same. Nouns could either be Masc, Fem, or Neutral, and plural-always Fem. Same as in German. Like rules in modern English; Yiddish just needs to be learn-like one would memorize mathematical flash cards. I enjoyed this mini lesson.🙂
@@watchmakerful Not quite. German uses 'den' in Accusative and 'dem' in Dative, whereas in Yiddish the masculine definite article is 'dem' in both Accusative and Dative.
Hahahahaha me as a german watchinig this: Hmm, what could be so bad about the articals not having rule? OHHHHHHHH english only has one and everybody is panicing 🙂
These are some of the best Yiddish tutorials I have ever seen in my life. Thank you so much for posting these. You are a really good teacher!

אדאנק
א שיינעם דאנק!
For those Hebrew derived words, does the gender match that in Hebrew? Because those were obvious to me.
Yes, they do. And the plural is the same as in Hebrew (different pronunciation though)
asdjfhskjghsd this is genuinely hilarious thank you so much. (also very helpful)
I think that google translate also has Yiddish now, not sure though.
It does have Yiddish, but there's place for improvement.
Where does the word ״דעם״ come in?
'der' becomes 'dem' in Accusative and Dative. Please check out my video about the case system for further information about this topic.
