I like your philosophy about how a person should look *natural* post-op. My biggest fear in getting a facelift is looking like I had one and the two giveaways are the pulled mouth with the extended horizontal lines at the commissures and the disfigured ears.
Completely agree - Dr Kopelman's videos are the best on PS. He instills so much confidence with his no-nonsense (no gimmicks!) approach. Also enjoying his videos where he critiques misinformation - so helpful for patients wading through and trying to distill a ton of information.
Thanks for this information. Im recent from a face and neck lift with am excellent surgeon. I was expecting lots of tightness but find im overwhelmed by a very tight, deep line above my adams apple..3 " long as directly across the front of my neck. It is very painful and ive been given extra meds for the pain To help me sleep and swallow. Which has had limited success. I'm using warm compresses instead of cold ice packs because I'm 10 days out now. I don't feel one bit different than I did from the first day and it's beginning to terrify me. I'm trying to keep control of things but struggling between a cement-like sensation in my cheeks and neck, the pain and the worry. I have talked to my surgeon and he has been responsive. He says this is all normal. As well my left eye it does not lift after the upper left and lower bleph. It can lift about halfway , so my vision is affected too. I have read that this will resolve itself with time. If it doesn't, do you happen to know if this is a fixable thing? I guess to be honest none of this was what I expected even though I did a lot of research. Do you have any advice?
I completely understand how overwhelming and stressful your experience has been, and it’s natural to feel concerned when things don’t progress as you expected after such a significant procedure. From what you’ve described, the tightness and deep line on your neck, along with the cement-like sensation in your cheeks and neck, are common post-operative symptoms. Healing after a face and neck lift can feel daunting, especially when pain and tightness persist. It’s reassuring that your surgeon has confirmed this is all part of the normal healing process, but I understand how difficult it can be to endure. The tightness and discomfort you're feeling, particularly the line above your Adam's apple, may be due to the natural tightening of the muscles and skin in that area. This should gradually improve as the swelling decreases and the tissues settle, but I understand how frustrating it must be. If the warm compresses provide some relief, I’d recommend continuing them, but it’s also essential to listen to your body and not push yourself too hard during this phase. As for your left eye, it’s common for there to be some asymmetry or limited movement immediately following an upper and lower blepharoplasty. The swelling and bruising around the eye can cause temporary muscle weakness, affecting movement and even vision. In most cases, this resolves on its own as the healing progresses. However, if the issue persists after a few months, it’s something that can typically be corrected, either through minor revision surgery or other interventions. My best advice is to stay in close communication with your surgeon, continue with your current care plan, and give yourself time to heal. Recovery can be slow and unpredictable, but many of these issues will likely improve as the swelling and tightness diminish.
I am getting a face lift on the 20th of November . I’m nervous yet excited at the same time. I just want to look fresher. I’m 58 years old and just want my face to suit my personality. Fingers crossed 🤞 I will be ok. I still want to look like me but a fresher version x
I have just had a deep plane 4 weeks ago now. I developed a hematoma and had to have boudets and then a mesh. I am now home recovering. I have 1 little lump which feels fluid but he says its fine. Is it normal to still have a lot of face swelling 4 weeks down the line. I just cant move much my fsce and though my dr says its normal...im still scared its not. My cheeks at the end stitches on the zygomastic area are still numb. Any of your knowledge would be grateful
Temporary numbness is a expected outcome of facelift surgery.Swelling in some patients can persist. There are many causes of the swelling and it is difficult to determine the cause without evaluating your face.
All options are on the table. You can still have a facelift even if you are bald and get superb results. It requires fine care with the incision and closure so that the facelift looks natural without any visible scars but completely possible to accomplish if you are bald.
If you are getting seromas from dissecting too deeply over the parotid gland you should cconsider using tumescent anesthesia which will elevate the pre-parotid tissues to prevent the violation of the parotid fascia.

Most surgeons who perform facelifts are aware of the corrrect vvectors to elevate the face without creating a wind-blown appearance.
@@drkopelman Thanks. I would *hope* so, but I'm on a face lift Facebook forum and I'm not happy with some of the results I'm seeing in regard to that.
I agree, especially regarding the disfigured ears, pulled almost sideways with completely amputated tragus 🤦🏻♀️
Great video. Can you have a SMAS face/neck lift under LA due to CKD?
Thank you Dr. Kopelman for your informative and in-depth videos!

Doctor, what are the facelift options for bald men?

Sir i am a young plastic surgeon hiw to manage seroma after facelift surgery some of my patients have prolonged seroma

@ ok thank you sir I did that
@ how to decrease this Seroma which is already coming in this patient sir
Where are you located?
New York City. But if you live out of town I do virtual appointments for anyone who is going to come in for surgery.
Does a face-lift improve marionette folds lines.
Facelifts can improve marionette folds in many people but not all.
@drkopelman why In some people but not all just curious
Why don't you use the hemostatic net on the face as well?
The hematic net can be used on the face, neck and brow.
Who can afford a facelift in America? The prices are through the roof, for God's sake!!
