Big changes in my life and a changing UA-cam algorithm are forcing me to change directions and honestly that is probably a really good thing. One thing that has always kept me coming back to your channel has been honesty, because Honesty goes the longest in anything, business, youtube, life. I bought the Jackery 240 because of your channel. I'm sorry to hear what has happened, and am of course willing to support your channel still, for every responsibility you have in life you've shared with us, I commend you, it's not easy to make ends meet. Not to mention you did what you had to with your channel when you didn't want to in order to take care of yourself and your family. Mad respect to you. I hope all works well for you man!
Thanks! That means a lot. I definitely did what I had to do but never sacrificed honesty. Did some things change over time? Yes. Some companies I honestly promoted early I also warned about later (BigBattery). That was simply just not having enough information in the beginning. But even that stuff bothers me. How many people bought their products because I said so? And now I know they used Grade B cells.
I don't think its my fault, but I do share responsibility. And the only way to avoid that in the future is to not promote any brands. MillerTech will have to be one exception since I sell their products on my site. But I think I have been very fair and honest with regards to their products.
Anyways, thanks again and I hope that I can continue to provide honest content.
@@LDSreliance Totally understandable, they know their product better than you do. There's things you couldn't have known throughout that crazy road of opportunity. It's the same reasons why some people that join gaming teams in the gaming community on youtube end up leaving, because there was more hassle than it was worth, but in the end, those companies grew with them.
It's a rough time for you but I'm sure your channel will continue to be awesome ❤

It sounds like you could have some fun times ahead, getting an opportunity (and need for) putting all those skills into practical implementations in a homestead! Won't miss the product reviews, in fact I hate them as a viewer. I have unsubscribed from a lot of channels that I have not felt was honest about them (some even not mentioning they are doing a product review, but pretending they bought the stuff). Still a subscriber here so obviously I did not get that feeling with your way of handling them, and your change of focus is right up my alley. Hands-on practical implementations of cost effective self reliance solutions is exactly the stuff that I (and i bet a lot of other people) are interested in. Especially in these turbulent days 🙂
I hope so. These changes are against the grain of mainstream UA-cam so I hope that it will resonate with some people and still reach the people who care and want to see that kind of content. I guess we will see. Thanks for staying a subscriber!

I came to the channel years ago for the well made educational content. tbh I am not a fan of paid product review videos in the past year or so and stopped watching new videos from the channel (quite a common trend for well established youtube channels turning into vendor paid shill channels).

Yes, it was not something I wanted to do at all. It is tempting, though. When you get dozens of companies contacting you every month willing to throw expensive free stuff at you and pay you for your time... it is hard to say no. But can you really be objective in that scenario? I tried but I don't think I succeeded. Unfortunately a couple of the products I recommended ended up not being that good in the long run and the companies have vanished. And that kind of thing keeps me up at night. So that is all over with.
Good luck with your acreage. Sounds exciting. Your solar content brought me to your channel years ago... Will your store still be open during the changes?
Yes, the store will remain open. And there will still be solar content. It just may change to some more hands on, application-based stuff instead of just theory and explaining stuff. Although I may still do a little of that here and there.
sorry to hear that your life is going upside down - sure you can make it work - keep up the good work you've done and work on getting a better life for you and your kids - now what about millertech batteries? inverters? solar? wind? DIY ? - moving how far from home since you have 1/2 custody, you can't get too far remote?
Thanks, Steve! I really appreciate the support. I won't be going too far away and this doesn't affect anything with my web store and MillerTech and the topics of the content. Just the nature of the content will no longer be about individual products and companies and things (for the most part) and more projects, builds, how-to's, experiments, and things like that.
I'd to see an exact system breakdown, including links to buy all of it. The simpler the better.
