Did you get the update that fixes the bug with 350kw chargers blowing the fuse sometimes? I’m due in next week and have been staying away from those for the time being.
@@hugegamer5988 I have all the updates. And so far no issues. The car finally charges to 100 percent now on level two. Where before it was shutting off and I had to restart constantly
I’ve had my FE since June of ‘22, have almost 20K miles on it. Best car I’ve ever owned! Constantly makes me smile while driving it, or walking away from it. As far as the frunk issue, with some creative loading, there’s more room than apparent. I have given numerous people rides to airports in Detroit & Chicago & they’ve all commented what a great ride the EV6 has & the amount of room.
Not sure you ever figured out that the radio/hvac touch control can be configured to default to one or the other at your choice. I have ours set to HVAC as all the radio controls are on the wheel or easy to see in center touch screen. ALSO WORTH NOTING: EV6 pricing is in the floor now. Most dealers are offering substantial discounts as they are siting on lots since Tesla dropped pricing. Even GT's are 3-5K under MSRP. Greatly appreciate the thorough and well thought out reviews though. Great to see folks giving the EV6 a objective view.
I love my EV6 and would buy it again. I don’t understand the issue with the lower control panel. I always have it on the HVAC setting and just control radio from the steering wheel / touch screen. You can in the navigation system settings make it only find CCS chargers when navigating and you can set the networks which are allowed. This was there from the beginning. However I do agree the navigation system could be better at selecting chargers, giving you alternatives and telling you how much to charge and how much range you will have at arrival. I hear it’s with the Ioniq 6 now so it should come as an update to Ioniq 5 and EV6 but I haven’t seen it yet.
US/Canada Map update in April added navigation to the first 4 chargers on a long distance navigation. No battery % estimates though like ABRP.. BMS update from dealer added battery preheat when using the car's navigation to a DCFC site. Search UA-cam for EV6 videos for more information.
I fully agree but if you are looking for mainstream critics and not facts you always find virtual arguments. I know ALL comparable cars in the Kia EV6 AWD class and as consultant I look for TCO but also ergonomy and good design. After 54 years of mainly German Premium and once scrap metal V8 which was absolutely scary named Ford Mustang the Kia is by far the best experience. Not one time in a Garage other than change wheels, perfect drivetrain concept from Albert Biermann who headed BMW M-Sports for 30 years and made up a driving machine here not only to drive straight forward but fit for Swiss passes and mountain roads or even trackdays that also have some curves. All that using on 15‘000 km only 17,0 kWh/100 km which is absolutely on Tesla Model Y level. Than because my wife has problems with touch screens on all appliances we love redundancy and it’s fully intuitive. In Europe the charge planning is now very professional compared to other carmakers but still not as easy as with Tesla. No reason however to change or only for the GT or IONIQ 5 N or 6 N! Actually I have no trust in Chinese Companies as long as they produce in China with their uncertain supply chain, might be only BYD because of similar vertical integration as Tesla but definitely they have a lot of appealing products available.
@@Lifecoach7Ra I’ve needed to bring mine in for recalls including the fast charge fuse blowing on 350kW chargers because of a handshake issue where too much current is applied. Supposedly can’t be done OTA. Did you get your notice and have to bring it in?
Alex I love your content so much. I came honestly because I was looking for something other than “yet another US-based white dude with a UA-cam channel” so my other favs are Throttle House and MotorMouth, but I love your format so much. You are smart, passionate, easy to listen to, know your stuff and communicate clearly about what is important to me when nerding out on or actually shopping for a vehicle. Thank you for doing what you do, and doing it SO well. High ten my friend 🙌🏻. Keep up the excellent work. Oh and props to Alexandria and everyone behind the scenes, your crew needs props too, they empower you and help you make it look very easy!
It would be better if the tire mobility kit, chargers & manuals all fit in the frunk, then the space under the trunk floor could be more open with room for an optional spare & jack, that an owner could buy on their own, or allow the floor to be lowered for more cargo room.
It's worth mentioning that some people capture most of the $7500 tax credit on an EV6 by leasing it, then immediately buying it out. You lose some of the discount in fees, which vary from state to state, but it should still be considerably cheaper in most cases than a straightforward purchase. You have to read the lease agreement very carefully to be sure you don't get screwed, though. Caveat emptor!
I got my 2020 ioniq in nov 2022 with 4k miles on it. Now it has almost 15k miles on it and theres no intention on getting rid of it. 160 miles of range is an absolute NON issue and idc that its an electric prius, its just super useful. So many of these big flashy expensive EV's are out there and I picked up my little guy for 27k.
I am 6'2" and have the GT. I find it very comfortable and with plenty of headroom. The reliability, build quality, and peace of mind that comes with driving a Kia is priceless.
Great review Alex! We’ve had our Kia EV6 for a year now, same color only white seats with black trim and we love it! Looking forward to when you can do a road test with the new Kia EV9 as we’ll consider trading in for that.
I would think the EV6 would be more reliable in reality. I know many people who have had lots of issues with Tesla. I do like the Tesla Model Y though a lot but I have to say I love my EV6 Wind Edition.
I drive rideshare. For 18 months I’ve been renting EVs since they’re highly incentivized but I wasn’t ready or sure I even wanted to buy. I finally got my hands on first a 23 ev6 then a 24. They are so sought after by drivers they’re nearly impossible to get once you turn them in, despite a lot full of Solterras Teslas and Polestars etc. I think it’s overall the best EV out there. I wish it sat higher, but that’s my only real complaint. I just bought an as new ‘22 Wind/tech pack for under 25K which qualifies for the $4k fed rebate (has to be 2 years old and under that price point.) Bought a few mods for things that bug me (the silver reflective center console is absolute murder on the eyes, reflecting sun like a mirror). Crazy design choice. Last owner put $1500 worth of all weather floors pads. Not a scratch on it. No noticeable difference from the 24. I scored big time.
I use the pizza box area to store my 100’ sjtw 300V extension cord for my 16A 120/240V evse that fits in my frunk. With the adapters I’ve made for both rv plugs, all three oven plugs, and the standard welder plug plus the 120V standard wall plug adapter it came with in an charge almost anywhere at 1.8 or 3.6kW. It’s awesome!
Absolutely love my 2022 EV6 Wind AWD. Fast, nimble and gadgets galore. Also it looks like no other car on the road. When I pull into a parking lot all the Tesla owners are checking me out. Fast charging network still can be a challenge but I live in Chicago and generally make it work with the occasional inconvenience of having to wait. Im curious to see how fit/finish and reliability pan out vs Tesla. Time will tell...
I couldn’t do the rear seat headroom while reclined so that’s not a usable feature. Never opened our last sun roof much so I prefer the panoramic roof of the 2023 IONIQ 5 AWD augmented with sliding and reclining rear seats for a nice passenger experience for our guests. The lease $7,500 came off the MSRP up front and should shelter me well from the NACS bite in a few years. I store all my cables and kits around the subwoofer and use the frunk for smelly leftovers we’re taking home. 22:46
Love your reviews. Very in depth. Quite often you mention lack of 4 way lumbar support. Is this widely available on most vehicles today? As someone with back problems I haven't had a problem with 2 way for comfort.
I really like the charging network, and seat to floor distance in Tesla but that’s it. The build quality and panel gaps are obvious and glaring. I also don’t like the lack of physical controls or things to touch in the vehicle. It feels like a store branded vehicle with an iPad. I went and drove it and it drove pretty well but there wasn’t anything about the interior or exterior that said hey you need this in your life. Every time I see someone say that they have an issue with vehicles that don’t have volume knobs but like Teslas I smile. The rear seat floor in many EVs is too high relation to the seat so I don’t know that I’m ready for an EV anyway.
Just a quick addendum from the soon to be snowy Northeast. I had a 2022 Kia EV 6 and it was a great car. Hella fun to drive and fast charged at warp speed. However, had a few quirks that for me personally ended up being deal breakers. The biggest being that if the car is at the target charge percent and plugged into a charger you can’t pre-condition the cabin to take advantage of the line power. Basically, you hit the remote start and the car starts just long enough to detect it’s at the desired SOC and shuts itself off. Probably not a big deal in warmer climates but not being able to preheat off the grid was a deal breaker for me. Ended up trading it in for another EV that could preheat and solved a few other specific issues I had with EV 6 regarding the tech stack and and connected services (could have lived with those).
Thank you for sharing, I had a similar unusual occurrence with my Model 3 that I haven't replicated yet. When plugged in (Level 1) and at full charge it didn't use the outlet power for pre-conditioning but it did pre-condition. -Travis
Would you mind sharing your other minor grips and concerns more like the ''tech stack'' you get much better pricing in the used market for the EV6 through the Hertz Sales program which occassionally sell these from the 2023 model years in the regular WIND Trim featured in the video, but I like the quirky bonus feature of the pull out foot rest of the IONIQ 5 and rear passenger seats that also offer a reclining position.
A minor clarification. It is not the tires, it is the wheels that hurt range and efficiency. The GT Line has less range and is less efficient because of the larger 20" open-spoke wheels that weigh more and are less aerodynamic than the 19" wheels. If you love the look of large, heavy open-spoked wheels and must have them, you will pay for them with range and efficiency.
i love my EV6 awd wind. it looks so good and drives Amazingly. Had many long road trips with it. The only time I would consider selling/trading it with another EV6 if they update/refresh EV6 with bigger better battery for an AWD that goes at least 350 miles. That alone would make huge difference.
Even with heavy discounts by Hyundai/Kia, Model Y costs similar or cheaper with higher EPA range. I really like Ioniq 5, but it was really hard for me to choose that over MYLR.
Reviewers should stop saying that you get the tax credit when you lease. You don’t. Dealers are just reducing the capitalized cost of the vehicle you are leasing. That’s not the same as giving you $7500 cash, and actually, if you lease-to-own, you’ll still pay more than sticker in the end after the “credit.” For purposes of saving money, Leasing is really just for businesses that write off the payments for tax purposes.
I’m still po at Biden for doing this. There are better ways of protecting American businesses it just goes to show they prioritize American company profits over the environment.
Thanks for the detailled video! One question: Never heard of the "battery heater mat" (18:18). How to find out if this comes with a specific model? Do you mean the optional heat pump?
I just rented one from Hertz. Question - when you type in a destination I see the mileage and time to it. Is there anywhere that shows how much battery you have when you get there?
Alex, I have had nothing but trouble with Hyundai dealerships trying to get my Genesis G70 fixed. How is Hyundai supposed to survive long term if their customer service is literally worse than Nissan?
Hyundai & Kia Doesn't Care! They build cars with known issues and expect for you to pay to have them fixed - They don't give a damn about you! Our 2016 Kia Soul that we have taken very good care of is an example. The catalytic converter is 'bad' after they flashed the software and they refuse to make it right. No more Hyundai / KIA - Toyota is my choice!
Lease to get the tax credit. Buy out the lease in the first month with a nice low interest rate loan from your friendly neighborhood credit union. Just make sure there is no early pay off penalty.
12:59 I think this is fantastic. And, it looks like the new Mach E is duplicating this with a single knob that does both volume and temperature based on mode selection. I set the car to a temperature and then I don’t touch it. I would be surprised if I changed the temp in my car a half dozen times in the last year. Makes dedicated temperature controls feel like wasted space.
I just want to add a clarification - there was a UI update not long ago, and it affects ALL Mach-Es. The dial will always change volume, unless you adjusted the temperature within the last ~5 seconds or so, in which case the dial will adjust the target temperature, then switch back to volume.
The EV6 is more like a small hatchback, and if you need a bigger 3-row SUV, the Palisade or Telluride might be a better fit for you. They offer more space and comfort, which is important for those longer trips or when you have a bigger crew to haul around. EV options are growing, so who knows, there might be a larger EV SUV in the future that suits your needs!
I have a 2019 KIa Niro EV. It's a great little car and very fast. I drove a 2023 Kia EV6 Wind. I was disappointed as it was not near as quick as my Niro. it was RWD with 250 HP motor. Would I have to go to the GT lIne for comparable speed as the Niro?
@@jamellionaire12 I didn't. That's the GT line and I'm sure it's faster. It also stickers at $55K. I was comparing Apples to Apples and the Ev6 fell flat. My little KIa Niro ate a 5.0 Mustang's lunch for about an 1/8 of a mile. That thing rips. That was in ECO mode. I think the Niro is lighter by weight.
@@textech4056 the Wind and GT Line are both 225 hp for the RWD. The AWD bumps it up to 320, so those are quick. And of course, the GT is a 576 hp monster.
I’m with you on the Palisade. That is the best car on the market for the money. My wife drives our 2020 Palisade. It is remarkable with the power it has and still gets about 26 mpg on the highway, That’s excellent for a large SUV.
With Hyundai passing along a similar discount to the Tax Credit on the Ioniq 5 and 6 right now those models are fairly compelling. I wonder why Kia isn't doing the same with the EV6?
That is correct. He showed it. It’s smaller in the AWD version he showed but it still took the cables. In the RWD version it’s double the size, I have plenty room for cables and other stuff.
@@tomm5936 the internet explanation (not sure if it is correct or not) is that US regulations would require an interior release latch in the larger frunk, in case a child is trapped inside. So they just use the small one. Although, I certainly have never known a child both small enough to fit in a 52 litre frunk and mature enough to operate a release latch...
@@amperformance7998 OK that makes sense as an explanation. That release is not mandatory in Europe and people laugh at Tesla and other that have it. I agree no child could fit in the frunk and be able to operate the release.
Love the 18-month review to confirm which features actually got use. I just have one question... Why are you storing a gallon of milk in the center console?? I mean, I do love the idea of chugging large quantities of whole milk on my way back from Home Depot, but a gallon seems decently excessive.
Interesting comment, but for people who live in the SouthWest, or the summer's in general, maybe fitting a whole gallon of cool water via electric/usb inulation containers is more cost effective than 2.00 to 3.00 bottles of water at half the size ?
One huge strike against Kia is the horrific dealer experience. I just returned a Niro EV and it was far and away the worst dealer experience I’ve ever had. I will never consider a Kia just because of that.
Trading off front length for interior space then trading off interior space for low profile sleek design nets out to trading off utility for style. I like the looks of the car well enough I guess but these are not tradeoffs I would personally accept. OTOH I do think trading a little range for better tires is a positive exchange.
not quite true, as a lower profile creates less drag and better efficiency. "frontal area" is a thing and it heavily influences efficiency, apart from coefficient of drag.
@@protovack How much efficiency/range does the EV6 gain over its stablemate the Ioniq 5, which one would assume from looking at it has a considerably higher Cd? I'm seeing EPA range quoted for the Ioniq 5 as 220-303 miles depending on the model, 252-310 miles for the EV6. If these numbers are reasonably representative of the cars' real-life performance, this seems to me to be a poor tradeoff between range and utility, and I think my point about the Kia variant essentially trading utility for style is substantially correct. This is of course assuming there are no other differences between the two cars confounding the comparison, such as different output power curve programming, different battery packs, differences in driveline components, differences in total vehicle weight, etc. This seems to me to be a valid assumption but I'm not absolutely certain about it.
@@MLHunt Yep, the EV6 gets slightly better range. Its not a huge difference, but its there. If you want the taller roof, get the ioniq 5. I'm 5'8 and my wife is 5 ft, to us our ev6 is cavernous inside :)
I'm 5'10" and recently took my family of four on a two week road trip. Despite the low roofline, we had plenty of room for passengers and luggage. The EV6 may trade some interior space for the style and aero of a low roof, but it still retains plenty of space for any realistic use case.
Unless you want a sedan I personally (for our use case) can't think of a good reason to trade in my EV6 for another car. I did trade my MKZ hybrid car for a Niro PHEV 🚙 probably other PHEV that are nicer but not much choice in used cars.
Minute 19: Very very important info for 1st EV shoppes like myself: ??? Does anyone know anything more about the 2022 or 2023 EV6 or IONIQ 5 abilities to truly fast charge on a ''Majic DOCK'' 400KW and above charging speeds via TESLA stations ? (which of course are potentially more abundant in the coming years with more majic dock availability since Tesla know's full well, it's market share will only be diluted more and more as years go by and it's cutting edge charging network is in the end it's long term safety net)
I did consider this and Hyundai when buying an EV.. in the end, I went with a Tesla M3 Performance. This was before any Fed incentives. Dealing with dealership and their mark ups is horrible. Direct selling with Tesla, and I get exactly what I want is spoiling me. I wish all Automakers can use the build function of their websites and can order directly, as per the 'build'.. and not just looking for a similar trim within the area. Having a great system is better than the product. I think this is superior than a Tesla, but doesn't have great buying system. Analogy: I love Wendy's products better than McDonalds.. but Wendy's app is horrible. So, I usually buy McDonald's, as it's convenient, and a just ok product.
The side tappers in towards my head. 5:40 That alone would prevent me from getting one. It’s a nice and comfortable car. Quality interior. Besides the head space, the size would prevent me from buying one. I prefer an XC40 or Crosstrek size.
Agreed, the top end Meridian sound system has very little bass even through the rest is fine. I swapped the subwoofer for an active one and that transforms the sound for under $250 They really should address that when it comes to refresh the EV6. Oh and the seat belts rattle if they don’t lie against the seats but touch the trim. They could revise guides to fix that. But literally that’s all I could complain about, everything else is staggeringly good, it’s an amazing car!
Mine does, not as much as I thought given it's not actually that soft. I wouldn't drive for more than an hour without a quick break. But with those quick breaks I was able to drive 12 hours in a day. So doable. But it's butt specific.
Not one of your better videos imo Alex - more just another review which we already have plenty of. I thought you might have some more insights into things that owning the car for 18 months would provide. Had my GTline awd for 2 weeks now and I am still figuring things out but so far it gets a serious thumbs up for smoothness, perfomance and comfort. Little issues: I haven't seen where you can route plan in the UI and voice recognition for anything is truly hit and miss. I have had to press the microphone button on the android auto screen to use voice prompts for directions and phone calls not in my contact list seem to need a lot of trial and error. Now those touch buttons for heated and ventilated seats are truly a mistake as they are incredibly easy to turn on accidentally, The physical buttons on the Wind and GT trims need to be carried over for the GTline. In fact I find that many of the features on the GT line which thought I wanted are not useful for me such as the directional cameras that I can't see well thourgh the steering wheel so don't trust or use, and the heads- up display which I don't care about, Thought I wanted the handles that presented open when unlocking and maybe I would miss that but they also let everyone know that "hey my car is unlocked come and look". I do agree that I wish you could option out the moon roof as that headroom is definitely tight with it and I would prefer the extra 2 1/2' height that would provide and they just bring in extra heat. One last thing is the sloping front windshield brings in a lot of heat and heats up that large black dash to where it is hard to keep the car cool enough so getting some serious infrared film put on this week and doing the moon roof as well. And yes I am getting between 3.4 and 3.7 miles per kwh with mine and ever more in the mountains surprisingly so much better than 252 range.
I just struggle paying $60K for this car. You could buy a really nice hybrid for that money. Plus, I don’t live in CA (born and raised there though). The charging hassles aren’t worth it here in KY. Great video as always!
I loved my 2022 EV6 Wind until two months ago when the car died and has been with the dealer since. Parts on order for the ICCU module and I'm getting paid out under the California lemon law. Real shame, probably never come back to Kia.
You haven´t even removed the screen protector from the ventilation/media panel, after a hole year?! I have done it instantly on my own EV6, and its not that easy to peel off (only use your nails, and peel from the top corners of the panel) - but the result is all worth it! It looks really glossy and shiny! 🤩🤩
You’re not supposed to remove that screen protector! It’s there to avoid fingerprints, unlike the right too screen. There’s a reason it was so hard to remove. 🥴
I wish that was my experience with my 2023 EV6 so far :/ I've had my AC go out (With parts on a ??? eta backorder), the ICC acting up so I can't DC fast charge at 800v stations, and now even L2 charging is failing pretty consistently because of a well known temperature sensor issue on the charge port. At this point, I'm most likely going to contact a lemon law specialist.
@@charliethesupebeagle the AC was fixed, but all of the E-GMP based vehicles seem to have charging issues due to a faulty design. There’s a class action lawsuit you can find going on about it /: My car has been at the dealership so long I’ve started the lemon law process.
You sound pretty bias with the Tesla! It’s funny cause every UA-cam video on the ev6 vs model y the ev6 wins across the board. Kia is made much better quality wise that the teslas that have crappy interior and ride quality is garbage! Tesla is mainly a status symbol
You'll get it wet. In all seriousness, the battery and drive unit are sealed so that wouldn't be the issue. What would happen is, depending on how steep this standing water is, you would be exposing a lot of electronics (similar to an ICE vehicle) to water they're not designed to handle. It's never a great idea to drive a vehicle through deep standing water.
@@AAutoBuyersGuide Condescension aside, I suppose we could define deep. I think most of us are able to effectively use discernment in a standing water situation. Anyway, If you round a corner on a local street to find standing water(up to a foot) during heavy rain and there is a median preventing a turn around, usually a gas vehicle will be okay to go through it. But I wasn't sure if an EV would be okay if the water level reached the bottom of the car briefly or if it would almost definitely cause a problem. I do recall recent footage of EVs being on fire in deep water that had resulted from a hurricane. A different situation, but it raised the original question in my mind nonetheless. I probably could've been more specific with my question.
It is hard to judge if a question is being asked in good faith. So often ICE car owners come to the EV content to moan and criticise - most of the time based on erroneous information. So you have to forgive the EV enthusiasts for any nervous ticks😊
I haven't experienced wireless carplay myself but I can think of 2 reasons why: less likely to have connectivity issues vs cable and charging wirelessly while driving the carplay will heat up your battery a lot more, decreasing it's life, not to mention it will change it slower
Sorry, but I'd like to point out a few discrepancies in this review. for starters you should point out your height when comparing headroom, that way your viewers can make a better assessment based on their own height... Also, you say you don't like the glossy finish but didn't point out that the wind and light versions have the same matt chrome finish found on top of the start button... As for the radio/temp panel. After 18 months and claiming that the ev6 is the car that your coworkers favorite then you would think someone would have figured out after all this time that pressing and holding down one of the "switch" icons for 3 seconds gives you the option to select a default so if you want it to stay on temp control it will do that after after 2 seconds when you have to change the radio station, or vice-versa...most people just use the steering wheel for the radio and leave the panel on temperature controls. Also, there are other ev UA-camrs that have tested the magic dock on superchargers and they said (and showed) that it gets capped at 100kw on the ev6. Maybe the one you used was faulty, or your battery wasn't pre-conditioned... Anyhow, I've been driving my ev6 wind for 5 months now and would never trade it for any kind of Tesla... I've been hearing Tesla owners complain about the littlest things and their customer service has steadily declined over the years... And lastly, I don't know where you're located but you placed the ev carpool stickers on the wrong location, unless it's different for each state.🤔...anyhow, I wouldn't put any of those hideous stickers on any ev. They all clash with the color of the car.
When u are listening to the vague critics is just useless. Just feel the car cuz car reviewers are just blinded. What is practical for u guys? Its not the same for someone else or me.
I like the KbackwardsN EV6. I don't like touch buttons. I really hate dual purpose touch buttons. There is a lot of piano black plastic in my older Toyota. Piano black is a designer's dream and an owner's nightmare. It always looks dirty. Stop it! Just use textured matte plastic instead.
A standard range Model Y is around 42k (including destination) vs Kia EV6 which is 59k. That's almost 50% more expensive...no additional comments needed lol
Seems this video sped up by like 1.5x - Guy sure talks faster than most normal people, like he did a line of coke 10 minutes prior… Maybe a good thing in this rather wordy case though.
You lost me when you said you work colleague was silly because she liked something different about the EV6's layout. You arrogant so in so!! You just made yourself look silly. 👎
With no tax credit and the huge Kia depreciation hit, you'd be throwing away about $14,000 as soon as you drive off the lot for a car with 80 fewer miles of range than a Model Y. It doesn't make sense.

Exchange your comment with ‘black dude’ and hopefully you see how racist this is.
It would be better if the tire mobility kit, chargers & manuals all fit in the frunk, then the space under the trunk floor could be more open with room for an optional spare & jack, that an owner could buy on their own, or allow the floor to be lowered for more cargo room.
I moved all that stuff in my Ioniq 6 to the front of the car.
I keep mine in the front of my EV6
The EV6 RWD have a bigger frunk where all of that will fit
It's worth mentioning that some people capture most of the $7500 tax credit on an EV6 by leasing it, then immediately buying it out. You lose some of the discount in fees, which vary from state to state, but it should still be considerably cheaper in most cases than a straightforward purchase. You have to read the lease agreement very carefully to be sure you don't get screwed, though. Caveat emptor!
What exactly am i looking for in the lease terms?
@@UA-camrktbuyout/residual value of the car at the end of the lease agreement. (A lease is basically a long term rental agreement).
We have been using a wireless usb adapter for android auto in our Ioniq 5 and now I have it set up it works great never get a broken connection.
Have you taken it on any road trips? Is insurance expensive?
I've got it on my cheapo '18 CR-V EX. I also have a boatload of safety features.
Wow! What a fantastically comprehensive and well presented review. Thank you!
These are plunging in price in the aftermarket. Saw a '22 Wind trim with 8,000 miles for $29K.
I bought a mint '22 GT-Line AWD with 24K miles for $29K this week.
-Travis
Would you mind sharing your other minor grips and concerns more like the ''tech stack'' you get much better pricing in the used market for the EV6 through the Hertz Sales program
which occassionally sell these from the 2023 model years in the regular WIND Trim featured in the video, but I like the quirky bonus feature of the pull out foot rest of the IONIQ 5
and rear passenger seats that also offer a reclining position.
Do physical buttons cost more for car makers? Does the piano black cost less? Most people like physical buttons and hate piano black. So why?
It's all about that showroom look.
i love my EV6 awd wind. it looks so good and drives Amazingly. Had many long road trips with it. The only time I would consider selling/trading it with another EV6 if they update/refresh EV6 with bigger better battery for an AWD that goes at least 350 miles. That alone would make huge difference.
I am really looking forward to your long term ownership of the VW ID BUZZ.
Even with heavy discounts by Hyundai/Kia, Model Y costs similar or cheaper with higher EPA range. I really like Ioniq 5, but it was really hard for me to choose that over MYLR.
Including the 7500 tax credit? Or do you not qualify?
@@TobyCostaRica Including the tax credit MYLR was about $42.5k, which is what AWD Ioniq 5 costs ($50k minus $7.5k credit)
I bought mine because of the real sun roof!
It does look a bit weird when opened, I wish they had made it hug the roof more. Tiny nitpick on a great car though.
I got the same car but a 2023 2 months ago and have been enjoying it!
Did you experience any issues with yours during the 18 months ?
Thanks for the detailled video! One question: Never heard of the "battery heater mat" (18:18). How to find out if this comes with a specific model?
Do you mean the optional heat pump?
I’m against the EV revolution, but the EV6 is one of the hottest vehicles on the road. Glad that people are enjoying it.
They don't care - they cater to an average Joe who is from lower working class and will eat whatever you offer him. Joe doesn't mind.
Another great review!! Talk about the accuracy!! Spot on!! Thank you
The EV6 is more like a small hatchback, and if you need a bigger 3-row SUV, the Palisade or Telluride might be a better fit for you.
Did you try the AWD Wind for the EV6?
Cross shop, Kia will match, they did on mine and even better. Same company at the end of the day
I think all EV6s do have a front trunk, even if it is glovebox sized.
That is correct. He showed it. It’s smaller in the AWD version he showed but it still took the cables. In the RWD version it’s double the size, I have plenty room for cables and other stuff.
@@tomm5936 the RWD version has a bigger frunk in most markets, but in the US the RWD and AWD use the same small frunk.
@@amperformance7998 really, that’s surprising to me. I didn’t know.
Hardly ever saw any here in SoCal, maybe 3 top. More Ioniq 5 though, almost see one every other day!
Love the 18-month review to confirm which features actually got use. I just have one question... Why are you storing a gallon of milk in the center console?? I mean, I do love the idea of chugging large quantities of whole milk on my way back from Home Depot, but a gallon seems decently excessive.
Interesting comment, but for people who live in the SouthWest, or the summer's in general, maybe fitting a whole gallon of cool water via electric/usb inulation containers
is more cost effective than 2.00 to 3.00 bottles of water at half the size ?
@@amperformance7998 Fair enough
Unless you want a sedan I personally (for our use case) can't think of a good reason to trade in my EV6 for another car. I did trade my MKZ hybrid car for a Niro PHEV 🚙 probably other PHEV that are nicer but not much choice in used cars.
What was the sell price?
Did I miss what he sold it for or was it leased?
"Completely flat floor making it easier to screw...scoot..." Freudian slip? 😂
Minute 19: Very very important info for 1st EV shoppes like myself: ??? Does anyone know anything more about the 2022 or 2023 EV6 or IONIQ 5 abilities to truly fast charge
on a ''Majic DOCK'' 400KW and above charging speeds via TESLA stations ? (which of course are potentially more abundant in the coming years with more majic dock availability since
Tesla know's full well, it's market share will only be diluted more and more as years go by and it's cutting edge charging network is in the end it's long term safety net)
new intro 👌
Very nice car Alex! What's next? You mentioned Outlander, but I thought that had been in your fleet for awhile already..?
Should get the GT
"Dealing with dealership and their mark ups is horrible."
But you didn't buy the EV6 so you really don't know this, right?
Good review as usual.Kias are really nice cars now. Please quit doing reviews before they start jacking the price up.
Isn't the new 2025 model will intergrated with Tesla's charging standard? That was my reason of waiting to get that model instead.
The side tappers in towards my head. 5:40 That alone would prevent me from getting one.
It’s a nice and comfortable car. Quality interior.
Besides the head space, the size would prevent me from buying one. I prefer an XC40 or Crosstrek size.
Yeah the cabin space is cramped - it's almost the size of Chevrolet Spark.
The sound system is better on the ev6, ioniq 5s was very disappointing to me.
Both a crap quality sound wise.
Agreed, the top end Meridian sound system has very little bass even through the rest is fine. I swapped the subwoofer for an active one and that transforms the sound for under $250
They really should address that when it comes to refresh the EV6. Oh and the seat belts rattle if they don’t lie against the seats but touch the trim. They could revise guides to fix that.
But literally that’s all I could complain about, everything else is staggeringly good, it’s an amazing car!
Why you prefer wired?
How's the seat comfort for a longer distance? Like, greater than 4 hours of driving, does your rear get sore?
Mine does, not as much as I thought given it's not actually that soft. I wouldn't drive for more than an hour without a quick break. But with those quick breaks I was able to drive 12 hours in a day. So doable. But it's butt specific.
It's not good. One of the reasons we are not buying EV6.
I recently did a 5000km road trip in my GT-line and the seats were excellent.
Tesla does not pass along the tax credit for leases.
that thing isn't supposed to come off.
I wish that was my experience with my 2023 EV6 so far :/
I've had my AC go out (With parts on a ??? eta backorder), the ICC acting up so I can't DC fast charge at 800v stations, and now even L2 charging is failing pretty consistently because of a well known temperature sensor issue on the charge port. At this point, I'm most likely going to contact a lemon law specialist.
Just curious if these issues have finally been resolved for you? Or did you get rid of the car?
@@charliethesupebeagle the AC was fixed, but all of the E-GMP based vehicles seem to have charging issues due to a faulty design. There’s a class action lawsuit you can find going on about it /:
My car has been at the dealership so long I’ve started the lemon law process.
@@michealgreen7205 thanks that really sucks. Appreciate the heads up..
You sound pretty bias with the Tesla! It’s funny cause every UA-cam video on the ev6 vs model y the ev6 wins across the board. Kia is made much better quality wise that the teslas that have crappy interior and ride quality is garbage! Tesla is mainly a status symbol
What happens if you run an EV through deep standing water?
Alex, please tell us WHY you preferred the Wired Car Play to the Wireless. Is there something we're all missing?
I haven't experienced wireless carplay myself but I can think of 2 reasons why: less likely to have connectivity issues vs cable and charging wirelessly while driving the carplay will heat up your battery a lot more, decreasing it's life, not to mention it will change it slower
You are missing.
This video looks more like a regular review than explaining why it is being sold.
Sometimes I get carried away LOL
Alex is going back in the trenches with the next long-term!
EV6 is NOT an suv crossover it is a hatchback car. Stop it people
A standard range Model Y is around 42k (including destination) vs Kia EV6 which is 59k. That's almost 50% more expensive...no additional comments needed lol
You can get the base EV6 for $43k before tax credit if leasing.
Or buy a Ford and they will be on the Tesla charging network
MachE takes much longer to charge when road tripping.

Will that car fit into a garage 94 inches wide?? LOL
Reliable and Tesla shouldnt be on same sentence LOL
Never find them, kia, that sporty nor good-looking bodystyle. It's rather a dull vehicle to look at.
I think the exact opposite. Love this style. I have the last gen Sportage, but don't like the new ones that much. But this EV6 is slick.
With no tax credit and the huge Kia depreciation hit, you'd be throwing away about $14,000 as soon as you drive off the lot for a car with 80 fewer miles of range than a Model Y. It doesn't make sense.
I can't stand Tesla dash choices so that's just not an option for me.
ppfff and the truck is gone
Very uncomfortable seating in the back - a real deal breaker...
You are gonna get ioniq5 n.... aren't u?
No, I'm thinking Nissan Versa actually LOL
@@AAutoBuyersGuide 🤣 actually last night i saw lots UA-cams of ioniq n, it gave me a goosebumps.. couldn't find any words to describe what i was feeling... but the one thing for sure is it was so powerful images.. so.. when do u think u get a chance to drive in north america? Hope anyday soon.. thanks by the way, always appreciate what u have been doing. Have a good weekend.
I would rather see an Ioniq 6. If I was in the market it would be high on the list.
Why would he get the same car? You do know Ioniq 5 and EV6 are same cars?
For a $53k car, it doesn’t even have the sunroof. Lmao, 😂😂😂😂 Kia can keep all these hot garbage, fair value is $37k
The ABG logo makes me think Asian Baby Girl
Yawn. 😂
Please make your videos match your titles. This is just a Kia EV6 review, not a retrospective ownership experience with reasons why you miss the car after selling it. That's a really quick way to lose viewers for your new ABG channel.
I've just realized the strange shape reminds me of ye old Nissan Juke
this video adds nothing. you are just repeating your entire ev6 review, with auto buyers guide branding, so you can take down previous things. thanks for nothing.
Yeah I was really expecting a full ownership experience, this was just a review as if they've been driving it for a week. He really didn't even follow through on the video title...why exactly is he gonna miss it? Cuz... it's a good car? 🤷♂️
Then try & buy it back if you miss it that much already.
i don't understand the MachE comparison. it's a stinking crossover. the EV6 is a hatchback car imo.
They’re both crossovers and compete in the same segment
The mach E has less ground clearance than a regular mustang sooooo yea they are competitors.
The size of this thing makes it a crossover. It dwarfs a GTI in comparison.
For EV, there is Tesla and nothing stands close to it. PERIOD
No Apple Carplay = No go.
That dash design is unusable for me. Not on the list.
This is really a no go for us: it's so cramped - it's basically a small hatchback - pathetic. We need a full size 3 row SUV. Until then Palisade/Telluride will be perfect.
Just wait for the EV9!
Not every car is for every driver? Why are you attacking a car for being smaller than you need?
If my job was to protect the worst traitor my country has ever seen, id quit too. FDT
