Thanks for the one-year review! I'm coming up on the one-year anniversary with my GT-Line as well and I still love it. Fortunately I haven't experienced most of the issues that you and others have, so I've been pretty lucky. I absolutely agree about the dealership experience though; it's certainly not where it should be. I don't know much about the weather "pre-conditioning" aspect so I'm looking forward to your video and seeing if there's something I was supposed to do with our one week of winter we get here in Dallas. :P Thanks also for the tips & tricks section. I was already familiar with many of them but still learned a couple new things, which is amazing because I thought I went through all of the manuals and menus by now. Always happy to learn more about this car! Keep making videos and I'll keep watching 'em! Take care.
Thanks! Yeah besides the amp, I haven't been to worried. However, this 12v battery thing has me a bit worried. I just know it's gonna happen to my wife while she's out and about ha ha! However, in not sure I'm gonna sit around wait for a dealer to fix it. I may end up buying a nice battery but let's see what happens. It seems like it's becoming more common. As for pre-conditioning? Yeah I park 99% at home, drive mostly in DFW, and our winters don't get too bad, so I'm not sure it'll ever be a big concern for me unless I move or go on another wintery road trip. I still wanna learn about it as I do want to move back to CO at some point soon.
@@Emadifications Your video is the first I've heard of the 12v battery failing so I'm going to do some research on the forums. I learned the hard way a long time ago to always keep a battery booster in the car so I'm not *tooo* worried but certainly something I'll keep an eye on. Thanks again for the heads up!
Great video. It’s nice to hear someone with good things to say about the EV6. It seem like so many on the forums just complain. I’ve got almost 9K on my car, same exact one you have, and it’s been great. I do know that a lot of people only post things when they’re negative so we need more posting positive reviews. Thanks.
Thanks! I haven't seen too many negative reviews overall. A few of the same complaints, but overall I think people have praised the car. I have seen that a lot of people that have ended up selling the ev6 wasn't necessarily because it was a bad car, but because they just weren't ready for an ev. Or they realized that the Tesla infrastructure worked better for them due to driving habits. I don't fault them for that, but don't bash the car if that's the reason. Glad you like yours and thank you for the nice comments on the video! Injustnhit 16.1k on mine and still like it s lot.
Yeah it’s been kind of a mixed bag. I love my car. I think what keeps me interested is the slow trickle of mods that are coming out. Like every month I’m seeing new kits and it makes me excited to finally start some on mine!
The amount of suppot you have given other EV6 owners is utterly amazing. My gf has had 101 questions about our EV6 over the last 9 months and you have been there with ALL the answers. Thanks so much, fella :) If you are ever in Ohio and looking for a place to charge and hang-out :) No, we're not murderers.
Ha ha ha! Thank you so much! This was my first experience with an ev, so I always thought about things from the perspective of what would other regular owners wanna see? There's a million review videos out there. I wanted to just give a real time update on ownership but also be honest and not glorify it. It's not perfect but it's still pretty cool. I appreciate your feedback and words! One of my best friends also lives in ohio. But I haven't seen him in decades haha I wouldn't mind trying to make a road trip up there though!
Excellent sum up Emad👍. Absolutely love my GT Line AWD and done my own mods and wrap anyway. But very fair points. I do think you guys in the US seem to have more issues in all honesty and especially with the dealers and service/mark ups. Not had any issues with heating or 12v personally. But maybe thats just because I am fortunate. Today I took my beautiful EV6 to the dealer to sell. Been excellent 6 months with it and the dealer has been fantastic in all honesty. So sorry to see it go but timing is perfect and financially works well for me and just gave the go ahead on the dealerships GT demo, which I look to get in Sept/Oct when their new demo arrives. Got a great deal and excited to get the rocket. Albeit GT Line is very quick in deed and blows most cars off the line regardless. But your vid is spot on and honest and refreshing. For me I would 100% recommend this car and after owning a number of high end cars in the past, this definitely matches up to them. Brilliant vid and keep up the great content. 👍👍
Wow thank you so much for the praise and kind words. And at first I was bummed that you liked the gt line so much and was "why are you trading it in??" And then I read that you're getting the GT. That is so awesome. What country are you in? I am visiting Ireland right now and makes me realize that the range for the gt is more than enough in most of the world. In the US, everything I so spread out so that's why we get range anxiety. Plus our charging infrastructure sucks for the most part. The opening of the Tesla chargers will help. As for problems? Yeah the 12v problem seems to be getting worse. I hope I don't deal with it. But I mean, after market will fix it if kia won't. Appreciate the support and congrats on getting the GT. It's a beast.
@@Emadifications Hi Emad, I am from the UK but currently live and work in Sweden. Yes range factor here in Europe not an issue at all. Many guys here on my local EV6 forum have travelled from Sweden all the way down to Italy. Fair old distance but no real issues with charging. Just need to plan. Great you’re over in Ireland and I hope you have a fantastic time there. Scenery is beautiful if you get chance to travel around. Family from there so know it really well. The Guinness and whiskey isn’t too bad either. 🥃🤣🤣. Enjoy your trip and keep up the great work as your vids over time have helped many newbies on here. Yeh looking forward to getting the GT. If you haven’t tried it then do so as soon as you can. I think a few of your friends will be even more shocked with the ridiculous acceleration. 😲👍👍
This was a great in-depth video. As someone who's always been a gear heard, but yet to own or drive an EV, this was very informative and interesting. Thanks!
Thanks! I'm working to improve my production (font, consistent camera/audio quality, angles, etc.) But man it's a lotta work haha so I def appreciate the compliment. What kinda cars are you into? I'm a fairly big gearhead as well.
@@Emadifications I've always owned manual hot hatches and especially love JDM cars. In the early 2000s my first few cars were various years/models of SSS Nissan Pulsars. I've also had a 180sx, a first gen Honda Civic Type R, and more recently Ford Focus ST and RS. Looking to upgrade soon to either a Toyota Corolla GR or new Honda Civic Type R. Keeping a keen eye on the sporty cars that Hyundai and Kia have been developing over the last few years too, they've come a long way! I don't think I can make the move yet to EV though, I just can't go past the driving experience of a manual turbo! Maybe one day if engineers figure out a way to make a manual + clutch EV somehow with multiple gears then I'd be interested haha
Awaiting delivery on my '23 Wind AWD + Tech. Most reviews are like "I had this car for 2 days to review and these are my thoughts" So glad there's someone giving long term reviews and updates as you live with this car every day. Thanks for this!
You're welcome. That was the goal. I'd seen a lot of journalist reviews, and some long term reviews, but i wanted to capture what it was like to own the car, and really be transparent about the issues and good things.
I don’t know how I missed this video before. Glad to have found it. Thanks for giving the 1 year review…it’s much more reliable than the week test drive reviews.
Thank you so much! Next time I hope to have more consistent audio and video quality. This video just took a while to compile and film so there was a lot of different days it was filmed. Appreciate the awesome words, though! Makes it worth it.
Great video. We bought our EV-6 first edition in Feb., 2022 (It's number 1109 of 1500). We do not regret the purchase. It's the beautiful, fun to drive, and it gets great mileage. Given the right weather conditions, we have gotten in the range of 325 miles+ on a full charge. We have driven it twice from Seattle to San Fransico, with one side trip to Bend, OR on the way down, with no charging issues. We did find some chargers not up and running, which was a disappointment, but not a huge issue. It's glacier white with all the GT-line bells and whistles. It's also a major head turner, whereas the Tesla is pretty boring. Thanks for the reviews. This one showed me stuff that I didn't know about it. And I do agree, the dealer we took possession of the car through is less than optimal. KIA needs to work on that.
Appreciate the feedback and the experience. My biggest fear is being super low on range and pulling up to a charger that's not functional! That's the one insecurity i still have. I still like mine, although I'll admit my needs are changing to where a full EV may not be the best option but that's for the 2 year video I'm working on. Thanks for sharing and watching!
The tech on this is child’s play compared to a Tesla lmao. This car has one of the worst drive assist features on the market. It can’t even make wide turns on a straight road that curves without turning off the driver assist. Kia had to make up for its lack of advanced tech by adding tons of comfort features. You don’t get EVs without Tesla. Put some respect on its name. The lack of level 2 chargers and stations in many major cities is what makes these third party cars suck. I have 6 Tesla super chargers within a 20 mi radius in my city. There’s only 2 level 2 chargers that work with these third party EVs in my metro area (50-60mi). The warranty on these is also shorter than teslas.
Great review, as are all of your videos! I’m not at 12 months of ownership yet, but I feel it’s one of the best vehicles I’ve ever owned. My 1st EV, definitely won’t be my last. I have a First Edition, so in my opinion, the best of both models. I love the subdued outside styling, since the Urban Yellow really pops with the black trim. Inside, the nice grey headliner lightens up the black interior. The sunroof also gives quite a bit more light, too. I live in Kalamazoo, Michigan, so most of my driving is in the Midwest, yet I’ve taken a road trip to Bucks County, Pennsylvania, had no issue with finding chargers. My outlook on the chargers is a paradigm shift in how one looks at traveling. I’m ok with making some plans ahead of my trip. Looking forward to seeing more videos on your EV6!
The first edition is great. It has a good mix, you're right! I'm glad you like it. I imagine the infrastructure in that area is better than what we experience in the south. Hopefully it changes as I want to keep an ev but not willing to switch to a Tesla.
That's great. I'll be in Korea in April. I remember when I was there in June of last year, most ev6 I saw were taxis. It made me sad but makes sense in Korea. Can't wait to see more cars there.
@@Emadifications it seems like you've done ton of highway miles, has your body kit helped, hurt or not made and difference in milage? I don't see the ev6 kits on their website. But I'm interested.
Thank you so much for making this video. I have a Model X on order that will be delivered at the end of the month but I was considering canceling in favor of a GT-Line AWD. I even disclosed this with my local KIA dealer, finalized the numbers, and told them to let me sleep on my decision. After watching your video, I decided to stay the course with the Model X.
Model X and S are the only Teslas I would consider. Sorry to see you not get the EV6 but model X is a good bet. I still prefer the ev6 but good luck with your new car!
Great review! I am also a Stinger owner and am not yet ready for the EV switchover. My primary concern is the state of the charging networks around the country. And also I hope within a year or so the EV platforms will truly mature and become more mainstream. So, within a couple of years, I might be looking at the future version of the EV6. Best of luck!
I've owned my EV6 Wind RWS for about 10 months now. I really enjoyed this review, thought it was very honest and very useful. If anything else I love it just for the regen tip of holding the paddle shifter to get the max regen. Almost a year with this car and I had never heard of that!
@@Emadifications German cars are well built and shows off the persons social status. Something Koreans love to do. Anyways, looks like the US EV6s didn't get the ambient lighting option in the standard version. I have a rear wheel single motor version of the car but i have ambient light and every electric amenities the gt trim has.
Thanks for the warts and all review. I hope to take delivery of my EV6 in about 2 months time, it's been on order since July last year. I went for the GT Line RWD. Here in Australia it still just qualifies for a tax break whereas the AWD is just past the price threshold. Either way I'm really looking forward to. Love the look of the mods you've made.
Oh wow I didn't think of the MSRP and tax breaks. We have that here, too, now. Well, we have a lot of rules now (since August). Car has to be manufactured in the US, weight, power, price reqs. etc I believe. I know it's always had reqs but lots changed in August for us in the US.
I've done it and it shows "auto" but I didn't notice it was adjusting automatically. I only tried it for a few mins in rush hour but I will give it a shot again
Awesome review. I'd like to ask if your range was being calculated with the upgrade wheels (especially with them being the 20s instead of the 19s, and with the aggressive offset) and with all the aftermarket body upgrades? Reason I'm asking is that we have a stock EV6 AWD Tech model with the stock 19s, and we've gotten between 250 to 260 hwy miles traveling on the multiple road trips fully loaded that we've taken, and that's with 3 full sized adults and one 50lb 4 year old. Granted, where we traveled the speed limits are generally 55, 60, 65 and 70, and on average we set the cruise to 3+ the speed limit, except for the 70 speed limit which we keep to 68mph. Typically we charge to 100% then plot to charge when the SoC is near 10 to 15%. Haven't really done the city range as this is primarily the wife's transportation across states lines as she commutes daily about 45 minutes one way. When its just her...she keeps up with traffic at mostly 70 to 75mph, and we tend to charge around the 30% to 40% mark (up to 80%), and she still is getting around 220 to 235 miles range between charges. Those road trips I mentioned earlier have been in the summer with AC running. We've taken one winter road trip and the range was about 225 miles before stopping to charge (again around 12% SoC). Do the mods take that much range away from the efficiency? Id like to get her another set of wheels, still in 19s but im worried about losing too much range. Thanks again for the review!
Already own the GT-LINE AND your review tops even those so-called pro reviewers. Great job. If you're not already a broadcaster, you are a natural. Smooth conversational presentation and a good voice to go with it.. Kerp up the good work.
Wow. I can't tell you how much that means, especially since I know my production quality (video and audio quality and consistency) is not the strongest. It really means a lot. I try to film videos as if I'm talking to someone I know about my car. I'm glad it comes off organic! Again, I truly appreciate it and thank you for the positive feedback.
One of the most informative video. I would choose a non sunroof trim for my sun allergies. And yes when my boss's Kia Niro EV needed a jump start from my petrol Hyundai, I was WTF.
His Niro EV had that issue? Was his main battery completlely depleted or it sounds like he had a regular car battery in there that had issues?? Thank you! Was a long video to make, but hopefully it helps someone out.
I'm thinking of buying an EV6, thanks to your videos, I have a wife and 2 kids so it seems like it would be a good size for our small family. And personally for me I love that I can have a sporty looking and powerful EV going with AWD model. I never thought a Lip kit would look so good on a Kia as-well, just incredible. thanks again for the video
Yes! It is a dang good ev with adequate power in AWD form. I love mine still, every time I drive it. Just make sure you get the level 2 charger and get the outlet in the garage. One time expense well worth it. Lastly, not sure how old your kids are, but about to upload a casual "car seats" video. The EV6 is a great size for a small family (perfect for a family of 3-4). It looks awesome, has good power, and nice interior features (despite some of the things I called out.) Let me know if you have any questions or anything, and thank you so much for the comment and watching the video.
Did the upgrades fix any issues? I have 2 EV6's. My 2022 Wind doesn't negotiate charging with my home Level 2 EVSE. It says "Charging Unsuccessful". So I have to go inside my car and turn the car on and off several times before I hear the "click" and it all starts working. My newer 2024 GT-Line does NOT have that problem.
@suserman7775 I haven't heard that one but could be that iccu issue people have, but that is more dramatic, as in just doesn't charge at all. Have you been to the dealer and gotten the updates done?
Love the EV6 and how it looks as well as the Ionic 5. I don’t think I could afford either so I have the Niro ev. Do wish I had awd because I’ve had it the past 10 years and others in the 10 years before that. Pretty cool to see someone go the tuner look with it. I’m more point A to point B now so I don’t like to standout anymore, and have people saying they saw me, or get a crowd of people when I stop somewhere. I spent 20 years in the racing world and it’s nice going under the radar. I get my thrills on 2 wheels. Much cheaper to go fast and much more fun considering traffic doesn’t exist for bikes. Love what you did with it though. I’ve never been a glamour car guy. I was more the guy with a clean sleeper stock looking Civic or Evo that can walk a Lambo. But I love a clean build with attention to detail. Like OEM+ type stuff. No stance boy stuff. So I really appreciate your work.
Appreciate it! The covers are something M&S will be selling. They're just aesthetic carbon fiber pieces. They are one of the most polarizing pieces of the kit. I personally think they would look great on a black EV6, but I'm using them on my car to show off the whole kit they are making. Luckily, You can pick and choose what parts you want to make it your own.
Lots of good info for sure. I've been following along since I bought mine in June. A list of the mods in the video description, or a link to them on a forum post would be appreciated.
Appreciate it! Most of the mods, such as the lip kit and springs, are not available yet, but will be soon and I will def post about it. The rest of the stuff is mostly the same from when I did my old video, and mostly just wrap, caliper paint, etc. This is good feedback, though. I will update the description shortly! Thank you so much
25:44 I loooove my EV6 wind, no regrets. One thing I would like to point out is using the “Auto Regeneration”. I found that it maximizes my range and increases my efficiency rating. You do it by long-holding the right and left pedal and you’ll hear a little “ding” and it’ll show “Auto”! It goes up and down depending on if a car is in front of you. I haven’t seen it break completely so just keep that in mind :)
You’d nailed it. I live in the northwest. And the one that bug me was the remote climate start changing to Celsius. It’s not the the end of the world, but come on. I got tired of changing it. I just leave it alone. Hopefully I can get it update on it soon. I’m at 6500k miles now. Gonna be taking it in soon for the 8k miles
You gave great information on the vehicle, I'm driving a 2019 Chevy Volt right now but seriously looking at the EV6. I love my Volt but being Chevy discontinued it and the Bolt and soon won't even be supporting them anymore is making me look away from Chevy EVs. Yes, I remember the EV 1, the Volt, and now the Bolt. Chevy has a bad habit of discontinuing their EVs vehicle even if they are good reliable vehicles.
Yeah it's crazy they keep doing that. I guess cause most of their platform is switching to an electric version, they're just now saying... Screw the old? Who knows.
You made a good choice, this is the coolest looking EV out there especially the way you have customized yours I hope Kia keeps up the good work, they have truly taken their brand to the next level I own a Benz and think this might be my first EV
Yeah it's a good one. Def recommend the 23+ models. I'm actually looking to try to get into my first benz. I'm a sucker for wagons and they seem to have some good "affordable" ones. This wouldn't replace the EV6, though.
RE: Range. Slow down to 65, make fewer charging stops and get there in about the same amount of time as driving at 75 and having to stop and charge more often. One other benefit, driving at 65 is far less stressful than driving at 75 or greater. IMHO :)
Helpful video! My two biggest gripes are the weak sound system and the crazy cheap plastic seat backs exposed in the back. I just don’t get that. I’m eager to purchase an Ev6 or maybe the ID4 but I’m also curious to see the advanced w EVs this next year. Thanks DFW neighbor👍🏾
Yeah the sound system isn't bad once you mess with Poweramp or really just any equalizer software on your phone. I'm gonna try to find one with my wifes iphone for iOS. The plastics are cheap but it wasn't a deal breaker. As for id4 vs ev6? I think the awd gt line or wind are just better performers. The id4 was bland to me. The look is also a bit more bland but some people like that part of it. Interior was okay. But it left a lot to be desired. It was still nice, but wasn't for me. And i agree.. the ev world is growing fast. Part of the reason I'm holding off on making any changes from the ev6.
Glad you still like it! I had mine for a year and sold it. Liked it but wasn’t driving it as much. Especially out of town due to the ccs charging network. The price of the Performance Y as I write this is 54k. Thinking about it. Charging network and OTA updates and space are three reasons why I am considering the model Y and Performance! It does qualify for the $7500 tax credit but sadly, I do not. Obviously I give up uniqueness!
if i was driving less than 10k miles a year, not sure i'd keep it either. but we are average 15-16k miles a year, and it pays off. I agree, Kia (and others) need to step up to compete with Tesla.. but also, Tesla has had a 10 year advantage haha
I go the same EV6 but I got black for a color. Love the car can't wait to upgrade to EV9. I got the Emporia EV Charger Level 2 and that works awesome just FYI.
Thanks for all the info. I really like the dark wheels on the white car. I am considering the GT which is now only a couple thousand bucks more than the GT line at one dealer near me but was wondering if I could paint those neon green brake callipers so thanks for showing what they could look like in a different color. Would love to look into the N version of the IOnic 5 but its not out yet and will be a high markup item for about a year afterward. Good to know that you could buy firmer springs for the Ionic as that could be a game changer in that car thanks.
If you have the budget, I would definitely recommend the GT. Just not sure what your range expectation would be so just make sure you pay attention to that. The GT is a beast. I also really like the green calipers but yeah you can change them if you want!
Thank you I purchased the EV6 limited edition 2023 three weeks ago and have been reading a lot and talking to people while charging. Thanks again for the 1 year update
@@EmadificationsYeah, the limited color scheme looks great. We wound up sticking with the red, which my wife decided she preferred, but she and I both think the forest green color looks awesome. The metallic paint really pulls it together...wish the red were available in metallic.
Great video! Very informative! I actually joined several facebook groups before I listened to this! I may be in your group! 😎 My wife has the EV9 GT Line, which she had the EV6 Wind first and I just purchased the EV6 GT Line!
That's awesome to hear.. really have my eyes on the ev9 but the lease deals aren't that great right now. I appreciate the kind words. My 2 year video is a bit more updated so I encourage watching that, but youRe already an ev6 owner, so a lot of it may be obvious to you. Thanks for watching and commenting. Awesome to see people who like this platform
Thank you! Glad you found it valuable. We still love our EV6. I love the outside of the ioniq5 but think the EV6 is slightly more of my style inside. That being said, I'm patiently waiting for the ioniq5 N to be announced....
Right now that only works with the magic dock for us. Not all the superchargers are open, right? Just the ones with the magic dock work with the kia. I know rivian and Ford can use any supercharger though.
@@Emadifications yeah just magic dock right now , but I noticed all the stations around me have been seeing different vehicles now . I mostly only charge at home or EA in a pinch , but I’m going to check it out now that I’m seeing other vehicles
Great information, and very valuable. I appreciate this video, and eapecially as a current ‘23 EV6 Wind AWD owner. Love the vehicle after 1+ years of ownership myself, but I agree with a lot of the points you made on the few frustrations inside and out. Do you know if it’s possible to get the Tech package installed by KIA after the fact, or is that only possible when the car is actually being made? I opted for the Wind AWD w/o the tech package, and that’s only because the specific dealership I was at only had a few EV6 options in stock, with mostly GT-Lines, limiting my choice. I did my research on the Wind and I couldn’t agree more that it certainly is the right choice all around for the price you pay. I test drove the GT-Line after the Wind, and although I absolutely loved the convenience and uniqueness of the tech package, it ultimately wasn’t a big enough of a dealbreaker for me, as my EV6 had everything else I preferred at the time. If you know anything about possibly getting the tech package installed, or if that’s even possible, please let me know! Loved your insight and really enjoy the videos. Keep up the good work, and thank you kindly!
@@Emadifications If you have a EV6 along with a 6+ KW gasoline generator and an emergency solar array that puts you in a decent position to weather the outages you just need to fire the generator up under load for about an hour every 6 months. I use a space heater as the load.

To push back a little (as you predicted), I chose the RWD GTline. I'm in the Australian market, so our options are different, but after driving the AWD GTline, I couldn't justify the massive price increase. $10,000 more than the identically equipped RWD, just for a couple seconds off the 0-100. Especially when the RWD version is already faster than most cars in the real world. Add in better handling and steering with the lighter RWD, and a slight increase in range, and I think the RWD is the best version for the real world. If the price difference was less, say $2k-$3k, or if I had to deal with lots of snow or mud, maybe my choice would have been different. If anyone out there is trying to decide whether to stretch to AWD, drive both if you can, be realistic about your needs versus your wants (more acceleration is never a need) and remember the RWD is plenty quick.
What an awesome car! Recently, I passed by the Hyundai EV/battery plant under construction close to Savannah. It’s an incredible facility! Clearly, the future is electric in one form or another. Count me in.
Very informative! thanks for posting. I am an EV 6 owner and enthusiast. Recently my ev6 was in the shop after an accident and I was driving a Toyyota Camry. NO! I will never own a combustion vehicle again, I'm back in an EV6 and I agree with you, KIA swing for the fences and it's a wonderful car.
I have the gt-line. I actually turned off HUD. Find it distracting. Hardly ever use the sunroof. Too noisy when open.. I love the quiet of an EV. Not sure whether the heat pump makes a big mpgE difference but the GT-line has it and the Wind does not. I find the seats too hard for my bony body. The ride quality is so much better than my 2015 Tesla which I traded on the car. And sadly, I paid a premium for the gt-line Aug. 2022 but did get more for my trade than Tesla was offering so it ended up being a wash. Since you did this video the downtime of Kia's servers has improved. P.S. Electrify America continues to have serious reliability problems even after the six months that have passed since you posted this video. There is only (1) ONE, ONE EA super charger in my state. It is always crowded and usually 2 of the chargers require a call to support to get them to connect. Never had this problem with Tesla chargers.
Soooooooo what's the deal with the EV credit these days? I'm going to be in the market to swap my Ford Fusion Energi hybrid for a full electric in another year or so, but I keep hearing different things about the tax credit. Did it go away? Was it reduced? Will it be coming back if it's gone?
Car has to be manufactured in the US under a certain price point. Kia and Hyundai's are obviously out on those. Really just need to find out what cars are manufactured in the US. $55k MSRP cap, among many other things. Read this: www.kiplinger.com/taxes/605081/ev-tax-credit-inflation-reduction-act-2022-changes
@@Emadifications Well, that's terrible for me. The next car I was looking towards is the Hyundai Ionic 6. First Trump obliterated the first time home buyers incentives mere months before I bought my first home, now the government is cutting back on buying incentives on the very EV that catches my eye. Life/fate does NOT like the thought of me saving any money apparently.
I was also initially interested in the GT-line. But I'm too tall and didn't fit with the sunroof. I'm happy with my Wind AWD with technology package. I miss having the pop-out handles but I like having buttons over the touch surfaces. My amp went out in September. It took 12 weeks to get it replaced.
Basically my experience with it all, haha! Thanks for the comment. It makes me feel better when some of my comments can be confirmed by real owners! I'm short so no issue with sunroof for me, but I do wish I had it. The cabin is so dark!
good video -- I've been going back and forth between tesla and the EV6 -- pretty much settled on the EV6 wind, and I didn't hear anything that scared me away!
Definitely get the EV6! It would be a shame to get a new vehicle that looks like a budget vehicle from 2O years ago with a stripped down interior and a tablet glued to the dash. Get something you can be proud to drive if you are convinced you want to go the EV route.
My 2024 Wind RWD after 9 months just got its highest charge range at 375 miles using an Emporia charger set at 9.4 Kw of charging power. Hardwired using 52 ft of Wirenco 6/2 metal clad wire. The previous highs were 367 and 365....😎
Unfortunately I wish mine was a Gt! It’s a wind awd but still love it! Bought it way before the GT came out. Thank you for watching and yes I’d pick it over Tesla as well… unless I was constantly doing road trips
@@Emadifications I will keep my Tesla. My neighbour's EV6 is good, but he complains about the infrastructure. He has had two battery replacements, and he is not happy with the dealership. He was amazed at Tesla OTA updates, apparently it is hit or miss with Kia. We went on a 760 mile trip and the tesla efficiency was better, but I say the ride is better in the EV6.
If infrastructure was a priority, of course my choice right now would be Tesla. And yeah I agree there’s some issues and I’ve been fortunate enough to not deal with most of them… but it is the first year and can really only get better from here. For my use, I would keep the EV6 and then next would be a Q8 E-tron
Having put 24k miles on an EV6 Light I bought in April 2022 I can say this is a very comprehensive review and everything you’re saying about the car, good and bad is spot on. I am very happy I bought the car when I did but since the charging infrastructure and preconditioning is not nearly up to Tesla’s level and I do in fact road trip my car a bunch I’m going to sell my car and look at a Model 3 or Y to replace it.
Yeah unfortunately it's the nature of the industry. Have you considered holding on due to the Tesla network slowly opening up? Appreciate the comments and kind words!
@@Emadifications I definitely had considered holding onto the car to see if the magic dock SC enhancements would be forthcoming and how much that’s going to materially affect my road trips. So there’s a few issues. One is temperature. I live in Ohio and about 6 months out of the year I’d need preconditioning to help assist charging. Apparently it’s not coming from Kia. Two is the fact that apparently EV6 and the SC combo is not a brilliant one and leads to relatively slow charges. Nothing like 175 kW max I’d see at EVgo or EA. Third it’s only going to be useful if they put magic docks along routes I actually use and need them on. I’m not saying that’s three strikes against me getting useful road tripping from the car, because I managed to rack up 10-15k miles in road trips in 2022 and maybe EA will fix their stuff here and there. But certain sites are actually worse now than they were 9 months ago. EA let Sheetz take down the Wytheville Virginia site and didn’t try to accommodate access to it for almost 6 months. That’s unbelievably bone headed. Meanwhile Tesla is building out the SC network and will apparently double it in the next 24 months even though it’s already the biggest network by far. Good for them and their customers. If you don’t mind dealing with the quirks and features of a Tesla then the bonus of the network is pretty overwhelming for an interstate junkie like me. 🤷🏼♂️
@@TomTomdog all of them, huh? You sure it wasn’t like 10% of the supercharger sites? Because that’s what Tesla actually publicized which happens to match what the White House said too.
14 months of owning the GT-line here’s my range: Summer 4.4kWh/mi is typical. Winter 3.6kWh/mi is typical. That’s mainly motorway (70mph) driving with moderate headwinds & temperature around 3-15C. At 20C and no headwinds i can achieve 400mi range at 70mph.
@@Emadifications depends, if you live in the Lake District with hills all around then maybe that’s accurate versus Manchester/Oxford that are completely flat. My car never leaves eco mode, but I don’t drive slowly. I’d say my 16,000 mile average is 3.8mi/kWh
No its dumb rearwheel drive is all you need for acceleration, you sacrifice range and get more complexity so disability electric car for what? For short acceleration 😮 stupid Only valuable when you don't need the car and then then just buy gasoline v8 you get Sound and acceleration
great video :) I ordered my earth RWD this month. was so surprised Kia added to the 2023 version many things by default (heat pump, ambient lights..). I think Kia learned from the issues the first versions had and the newer versions are now stable. I have a question about the frunk. Does it become hot there? In hot temperatures outside or by long driving. Is it actually safe to carry the 12V battery starter or the V2L adapter there?
It's absolutely fine. Many EV6 owners store their 12-volt boosters in there, as you should, as these EVs drain the hell out of those batteries. Better safe than sorry. Congrats on the car. I've had my EV6 First Edition for over a year now and it's been flawless.
That's awesome. Congrats on the purchase! Yeah first gen is always used as a guinea pig to some degree, it seems. I mentioned in my video that I think this platform will get better and better, esp EVs in general. It's exciting. But at the same time, manufacturers find ways to make you "upgrade" but switching out trim features. So let's see. But to answer your question? I'm not sure it gets too hot in there. I had it in there all summer with no issues, and I live in Texas. But I also park in a garage 90% of the time. Either way, it's fairly tucked away and there's no engine so it doesn't get very hot in there at all.
Thank you so much. I love hearing stuff like this. My goal was to be up front and honest about the bad and good. I don't think this is the car for everyone and wanna make sure anyone who watches understands some of my pros and cons.
So many haters in the comments here, i don't understant. I feel like most of people criticizing about being no match to tesla are probably driving corolla or cars like that anyways. haha Just wanna let you how beautiful i think ur ride is, rad built, it's just awesome.
I appreciate it a lot! There's still a pretty strong stigma against EVs. Add to that the fact that it's a kia, which people still treat like spirit airlines, you've got a recipe for lots of hate. The ones that this video was meant for got what they needed out of it. And also thanks for the compliments on the car itself. A year and half later, I still appreciate this car. Just itching for the GT now!
You guys in the States seem to get a better deal pricewise than here in the UK. I got my EV6 GT Line S in June 22 for £51k, about $66k, and we get no government subsidy here for cars costing over £35k. Having said all that, I love my EV6 with all its whistles and bells, and even in a British winter I still get 260 miles on a full charge. in winter I never use aircon. my car has a heat pump and if I switch to air recirculation I get heat from the batteries into the car. Great video by the way.
That's awesome to hear. Kinda sucks about the 35k limit but ow we have restrictions as well , since August. Cars have to be majority made in the US, under a certain price, etc. So EV6 does not qualify anymore. I'm in Ireland right now and have seen 3 ioniq5 and 1 ev6 so far. Lots of ID4s. In wonder if the id4 qualifies for subsidies.
I was considering a Kia, owned a BMW, VW, and Honda, visited the dealership and totally felt that subpar service level, just with the interaction with the sales, nobody cared to help me, talk to me, etc. When I went to BMW, VW, and heck even Honda (to a lesser extent) the interaction was pleasant. I am not saying this alone would be the deciding factor but it's something I've already noticed.
If that's the priority, that is fine. I just think the performance you gain, the benefits of awd, is not worth losing for the 30-40 mile gain. Even if you're not a gear head. But I could see how that could be used against me about the gt. So much more power but s loss of range to where I'm not comfortable... And that's some peoples perception or rwd vs AWD non-GT.
Your mods are very nice and the glacier white works super well even if I don’t fancy that colour. You turned an oncle Joe car into a nephew Jimmy one😅. I have. Tesla Y performance with 21 inch package and I also like the torque. The precondition is so important for us northern users. That’s were Tesla really shines. Good honest review!
Just checked out a Tesla today and an EV6 last week. I feel like the EV6 is superior tbh the Tesla feels like it is built so incredibly cheap. Really surprised me because you see so many on the road now. If I do go electric it’ll either be EV6 or Nissan Ariya
I agree with you 100%. The only reason to buy a Tesla is due to the supercharger network if you travel a decent amount. And on road trips , that's a peace of mind. It's possible with other EVs, I'm just not as confident as i would be in a Tesla. However, every other aspect? I would not consider one. Nissan has been off my radar for a while due to their awful ICE cars as of the last few years, but I heard the Ariya is nice. The new one at least.
Wrong, Tesla's range, speed, smooth driving, one-pedal driving, zero-issue OTA updates, superior software, better efficiency, Excellent voice command recognition for just about every setting and feature, and looks better than this. And I'm not a fan boy. Hate that crap. They wouldn't be number one if it were only because of the charging. Own before commenting
Wind RWD owner here, bought in Late July ‘22: I bet the performance of the AWD would impress me, but I’m pretty happy with how my RWD performs. But that’s also partially a bit of copium for me because back when I bought this in a rush to beat the passage of the IRA, the car I bought was the only EV6 I could find to buy in my entire urban metro. I’m very happy with it, the color, and the fact that I didn’t have to spend an extra ~$4k for awd, but I bet I’d change my tune if I had the heat pump and extra power. On the plus side though, without that front motor I could swap out my front trunk box for a larger tool box to get more front storage! Ya win some ya lose some.
Let me know if this helped & check out my 2 year ownership video for updates:

IMO your car is what the factory GT line should look like. I especially like the clean and simple looking rear valance. Great job 👍👍👍
Thank you! I wish I could take the credit but def appreciate the compliment.
Thanks also for the tips & tricks section.
This is the coolest looking EV6 I’ve ever seen!
Ha thank you! I love it. And look forward to maybe doing more to it.
The "celsius" bug is just another message for you guys to switch to the right scale. Freezing point is 0 degrees not 32 :)))))))

Ha ha I'm visiting Ireland and have a rental. It's a trip driving here at first. My balance and blind spots are all off.
You're preaching to the choir. I grew up overseas. Why is 32 freezing? Why are we using that scale? Haha
@@Emadifications Because we can.
Why do people around the world drive on the wrong side of the road and car.
This is the best looking EV6 I've seen so far. Great Work man
Thank you! Means a lot to hear it..it's def been a fun one to mess with.
@@Emadifications Is the 12 V issue a problem with the battery, or is it with the Traction battery to 12 V stepdown controller?
@@Emadifications Hi Emad,
I am from the UK but currently live and work in Sweden.
I just did my 2 year video, too! Hopefully the production and all is better. Check it out and thanks for the nice comment!
One of the best reviews i have seen so far. Good job!
Thank you so much! Next time I hope to have more consistent audio and video quality. This video just took a while to compile and film so there was a lot of different days it was filmed. Appreciate the awesome words, though! Makes it worth it.
Your mods made the car look even better. I parked next to a matt coloured stock GT yesterday and it looked much nicer than the Hyundai.
Thanks!
@@HaveyoueverbeenswallowedTesla is tied to Elon the autistic monkey though so it’s gay.
I live in Korea and ordered one last year. Your video was very helpful in understanding more about this car.
That's great. I'll be in Korea in April. I remember when I was there in June of last year, most ev6 I saw were taxis. It made me sad but makes sense in Korea. Can't wait to see more cars there.
Lots of solid insight.
I suspect this video is very boring for someone who is not purchasing or has an ev6, so I appreciate it!
I have a GT Line RWD, and love it. I do like the pop out door handles, ambient lighting, sun roof, HUD, and extra technology.
Yeah great car all around. Wish I had the ambient lighting and sunroof.
@@Emadifications it seems like you've done ton of highway miles, has your body kit helped, hurt or not made and difference in milage? I don't see the ev6 kits on their website. But I'm interested.
You can get a white interior in the Wind. It's what I have because you're right. It makes the interior feel much more open than an all black interior.
?? Really? You're in the US? I didn't know that was an option on the Wind.
I own a 2020 stingergt2. I will wait and see what happens with the ev platform also.
Yeah we bought this solely for around town and short road trips. I agree with you. I'll stick to my other 2 ice cars in the meantime
I've owned my EV6 Wind RWS for about 10 months now. I really enjoyed this review, thought it was very honest and very useful. If anything else I love it just for the regen tip of holding the paddle shifter to get the max regen. Almost a year with this car and I had never heard of that!
Yes!! That was my goal! For one person to make that statement. You just made my day ha ha
EV6 owner in Korea here! Few things are different especially trims. But I love my EV6 too
Glad to hear..I have some co-workers in Korea and they all are obsessed with German cars. Which I love also, but they don't appreciate the ev6.
@@Emadifications German cars are well built and shows off the persons social status. Something Koreans love to do. Anyways, looks like the US EV6s didn't get the ambient lighting option in the standard version.
25:23 Regen question. Can you hold the right paddle down to get the regen into "Smart" auto mode, which adjusts regen based on the traffic you're in?
You did a great job on exterior looks. If I get the ev6 I would take many of your inspiration in upgrading from stock
Thank you! Hopefully my videos can help where needed. Otherwise feel free to always reach out!

Thank you! Appreciate it.
Not really. The parts don't integrate well. They look like an afterthought, like the rear mudflaps. Generic bolt-on looks

I have used the USB update 3 times now, no issues, I use 128gB SANDISK stick
Did the upgrades fix any issues? I have 2 EV6's. My 2022 Wind doesn't negotiate charging with my home Level 2 EVSE. It says "Charging Unsuccessful". So I have to go inside my car and turn the car on and off several times before I hear the "click" and it all starts working. My newer 2024 GT-Line does NOT have that problem.
@suserman7775 I haven't heard that one but could be that iccu issue people have, but that is more dramatic, as in just doesn't charge at all. Have you been to the dealer and gotten the updates done?
Enjoyed it, very detailed. Drove the AWD at Harrogate, I had to give it back !! Drove dead straight at full sport power, eggscellent.
Yeah even just the basic AWD is a hoot. Let alone a GT.
Well looks better than all the ev6' I have ever seen
Thank you so much! i love lookin at it!
Excellent video. Could you share specs on the aftermarket wheels n tires you got?
Thank you! 20x9 +35 avid sl02 and tires are 255 45 20 kumhos
Great video! Really helpful too - nice to get the honest views. I’d love to know what those covers are on the rear charge flap and the opposite side.
That body kit looks so good, something out of a magazine cover
Thank you! It is def unique and I agree, it looks awesome. Really changed the look of the car..
Thank you so much
best looking ev available right now IMO. This simple bodykit of yours even make it look better. well done
Thank you! Means a lot. One of the main reasons I bought the EV6 was cause of the looks.
I tried this and seems that reaction is fairly slow. I haven't used it since the few seconds I tried it but I'm gonna give it another shot.
That looks SICKKKKK!!!!😍😍😍
Thank you!
I'm taking it in next week for my 16k and I'll update after. It's stupid that it's an issue and can't be fixed ota..
Who knows.
And thank you! EV6 is great. Competition is def stepping it up. But I think the EV6 still stands out
You made a good choice, this is the coolest looking EV out there especially the way you have customized yours
I hope Kia keeps up the good work, they have truly taken their brand to the next level
I own a Benz and think this might be my first EV
@@Emadifications Are you using the PowerAmp Equalizer or the PowerAmp Player. The Player needs to be purchased for $6.99. Thanks
Love the mods you made
Thank you! 2 years almost from when this video was made, not much has changed. I took off the stickers. That's about it.
Same
Glad you still like it!
I remember you from kyle's channel. Thank you youtube algorithm.
Ha ha I thank the YT algorithm sometimes as well
@@Emadifications how do you feel about the ioniq 6/7
I go the same EV6 but I got black for a color. Love the car can't wait to upgrade to EV9. I got the Emporia EV Charger Level 2 and that works awesome just FYI.
Nice! I'm eyeballing the ev9 but honestly really waiting to see what happens with the Ioniq5N
I would've absolutely regretted not getting the ambient lighting.
More than anything else, that's the one thing I hate not having to this day.
Those wheels are beautiful
Thanks! It's probably the longest I've kept wheels!
Thank you I purchased the EV6 limited edition 2023 three weeks ago and have been reading a lot and talking to people while charging. Thanks again for the 1 year update
Green exterior and desert tan interior? Congrats! Such a good color combo!
@@EmadificationsYeah, the limited color scheme looks great. We wound up sticking with the red, which my wife decided she preferred, but she and I both think the forest green color looks awesome. The metallic paint really pulls it together...wish the red were available in metallic.
I love the red as well. That and the blue are my faves.
Just got the 2024 EV6 Very helpful video.
Thanks! 2 year video is coming up as well.
Well, your video just talked me out of buying an EV-6... thank you for being honest.
Ah bummer to hear. I was hoping my video would make people feel better about it, aside from some small issues.
Wow! I can't thank you enough -- this was very useful. I don't have an EV yet but the Ioniq5 and EV6 are high on my list (target date ~ a year out)
Thank you! Glad you found it valuable. We still love our EV6. I love the outside of the ioniq5 but think the EV6 is slightly more of my style inside. That being said, I'm patiently waiting for the ioniq5 N to be announced....
Long range trips have gotten even better now that the supercharger network has opened up for all
Right now that only works with the magic dock for us.
The V2L is worth thousands of dollars as a backup for critical loads at your home or business.
That was the first time I ever hooked it up. We had crazy storms in Dallas last night and I was prepared to use it. You're not wrong.
@@Emadifications If you have a EV6 along with a 6+ KW gasoline generator and an emergency solar array that puts you in a decent position to weather the outages you just need to fire the generator up under load for about an hour every 6 months. I use a space heater as the load.

Just got a 2024 Wind; I can't see the speedometer steering wheel blocks view, Can speedometer be moved to center of display?
Unfortunately no. The screens are not customizable. It's a dumb design.
It's fun in it's own way. Will it replace a large V8 rumble? No. Will it still be fun to drive with all it's torque? Yes.
Thanks! Glad you like yours. I know there are some imperfections, mostly tied to software issues, but overall, a great car that will just get better.
I caught that Doug Demuro reference haha👌
Ha yes! Only the second person to mention it
looks so good on that angle in the intro but in person the shape doesn't do it for me somehow
Hey it's not everyone's cup of tea, no harm done there.
I’m kinda sad, although happy for the mods I’ve made because of you, that I bought the RWD and not the AWD. I found your channel after my purchase 😅.
Read this:
www.kiplinger.com/taxes/605081/ev-tax-credit-inflation-reduction-act-2022-changes
Yeah I've been waiting for the ioniq5 N... So I feel you. It was a big bummer when they annced it. I guess it forces people to buy American?
@@Emadifications WE should.
@@Emadifications I also like having the 19 inch wheels on my Wind vs the 20 inch on the GT- line. (I like the efficiency)
good video -- I've been going back and forth between tesla and the EV6 -- pretty much settled on the EV6 wind, and I didn't hear anything that scared me away!
Hopefully it gave you an honest perspective. But I also would highly recommend wind with tech. Makes things much nicer.
Definitely get the EV6! It would be a shame to get a new vehicle that looks like a budget vehicle from 2O years ago with a stripped down interior and a tablet glued to the dash. Get something you can be proud to drive if you are convinced you want to go the EV route.
Thanks!
Wow, thank you so much! Means the world
My 2024 Wind RWD after 9 months just got its highest charge range at 375 miles using an Emporia charger set at 9.4 Kw of charging power. Hardwired using 52 ft of Wirenco 6/2 metal clad wire. The previous highs were 367 and 365....😎
I can’t live without HUD, I’m accustomed to seeing the speed limit and my current speed.
Yeah I have never really had it except in an older GMC Acadia I used to have. It's a nice to have for sure.
I want this EV6 GT over any Tesla!! This is one EV beaut!
Im sorry but I think that the Tesla Model Y is a better design for me . Ev6 looks like a fish to me 😄
The model Y looks like a bubbly tadpole ha ha. Model X looks good to me. Model Y looks out of proportion
Tesla signed the deal with Biden. All EV chargers including Tesla chargers will be open to all vehicle
@@TomTomdog all of them, huh? You sure it wasn’t like 10% of the supercharger sites? Because that’s what Tesla actually publicized which happens to match what the White House said too.
@Skye Borg Im not sure about 10% but they just agreed on opening 7500 supercharger stations to all public access. I dont know what percentage is 7500.
damn, i currently have stinger gt line but im considering getting the ev6... im lost lol
Ev6 AWD will be a lot quicker than the stinger if that's important. You can also watch my 2 year video and it may help you decide

That's awesome! Congrats! What color? And thank you!
This looks sick
Appreciate it!
Man I usually get between 2.9-3.4. I must drive horribly.
@@Emadifications depends, if you live in the Lake District with hills all around then maybe that’s accurate versus Manchester/Oxford that are completely flat. My car never leaves eco mode, but I don’t drive slowly. I’d say my 16,000 mile average is 3.8mi/kWh
Bomb video! Very informative! I’m looking at getting one today.
My 2 year video should help a lot , too! Thank you!
No its dumb rearwheel drive is all you need for acceleration, you sacrifice range and get more complexity so disability electric car for what? For short acceleration 😮 stupid
Only valuable when you don't need the car and then then just buy gasoline v8 you get Sound and acceleration
@mmuller2402 umm okay
This is one of the worst takes I've seen
great video :) I ordered my earth RWD this month. was so surprised Kia added to the 2023 version many things by default (heat pump, ambient lights..).
The car looks awesome
Thank you!
Great honest review with lots of info! May have made me a believer.
Just itching for the GT now!
kia and hyundai are really one of the top ev line right now.
Every airco is a heatpump 😛
I would think the extra “ambient lighting” would diminish visibility at night…
Yes, there’s a setting to diminish amibient ligtning when driving. When the car gets to a standstill the ambient lightning will get brighter again.
Yeah the dealer I go to is very good. Very accommodating etc. But I've had plenty of awful experiences.
I love your daughter impersonating Doug Demuro!
Ha yeah it took a bit of practice.
Very detailed review. I loved it. But the more miles with RWD is a solid reason
Defaulting to Celsius is not a bug
Your mods are very nice and the glacier white works super well even if I don’t fancy that colour. You turned an oncle Joe car into a nephew Jimmy one😅. I have. Tesla Y performance with 21 inch package and I also like the torque. The precondition is so important for us northern users. That’s were Tesla really shines. Good honest review!
I agree. Preconditioning if you drive a lot and are in cold climates is a no brainer. I also didn't know modely had a 22" factory package option!
@@Emadifications sorry for that 21” are expensive enough don’t need 22” 🤥
@@Emadifications yeah the Tesla charging network is the most enticing thing about Tesla and it is a pretty big deal 👍🏻
yea i tested out tesla too and the interior is cheap looking. people buy tesla because 1) fanboy 2)supercharger 3)it's cheap pricing.
Where do u kit your kit? It makes the car looks really cool
It was made by M&S. I don't think they sell it anymore. They stopped selling products in the US.
Woo hoo, Wisconsin repping it! I live in Fond du Lac. Keep up the good wprk.
i used to live in MN (twin cities) so spent a lot of time traveling WI for work. Always enjoyed it, esp Madison, parts of Green Bay, etc.
