Unboxing the new Japanese 3 Disc Bluray release of Takashi Yamazaki's INCREDIBLE Godzilla -1
This is a Region A release with NO English subtitles.
It does however contain the Godzilla -1/-C ( minus colour) re-edit of the film.
Absolutely my favorite movie of 2023 and has fast become my favorite Godzilla movie thus far...
I picked this up from Amazon Japan, there is also a 4K UHD release available too, and in some cases that version came bundled with a bonus steelbook case.

Thanks brother, was just on my way to check out your 4K set unboxing! Given both the version I got and the one you went for cost near enough the same as the ( now cancelled) KOSM disk-less version that was planned. Feel the Japanese editions are absolutely going to be THE nicest editions out there! There was an empty Steelbook that came bundled with the 4K but it was mental money when I looked. I ordered the 4K one as well as the Blu-ray box sets. Beautiful expect they are pinched a bit on the open sides. I see yours is doing it too. The open side of the slip box, like if you squeezed with your fingers, kind of bowed in. Oh well. Not a huge deal.
So since neither of these have English Subtitles, and I bought for the packaging with the intention of putting US discs in them someday when get off their ass and release them.
In the meantime, I am Torrenting the movie just so I can watch it. Ugh

@mg-ThisHandleIsSoStupid nope. Rumours say not till 2025. Others say it’ll be released in the autumn in the U.K. but nothing confirmed yet
This is extremely awesome, I got me the 4K Ultra HDR version and simply love it! All discs are compatible to play in US 4K player but obviously NO English subtitles but if you seen the movie a couple times already then you really don’t need it! This became my favorite Godzilla movie above all the other ones, 10/10 ❤

Truth, none of the Japanese -1 releases have English subs. Neither the 4K or the one in my video. Depending on your 4K / Bluray player you can add English subs via usb stick, but not every player offers that function.

@charliebronson1274 no worries, hope you get lucky! not every player can. Supposedly some Panasonic and oppo units are the most likely. Neither of mine do. But I’ve seen the movie a few times already at the cinema so didn’t really miss not having subtitles and in time I’ll swap out the discs for English friendly ones after they get released. I mostly picked up the set to be able to see the minus colour edit of the movie and it didn’t disappoint!
Just saw this, my first Godzilla movie ever. Great film. Is there any other Godzilla movies you would recommend? I'm looking at Shin Godzilla, is that any good?
you started with a very high bar, definitely also check out Shin Godzilla, the 1954 original, Gareth Edwards 2014 American version and if you want to dip your toe into the Showa era, I'd say start with Invasion of the Astro Monsters or Godzilla Vs Mechagodzilla and see how you find those.

I would love to order this on Amazon instead of watching on Netflix, but how to watch without English Subtitles??
I prefer physical media too and don’t have Netflix. There are a few options:
A) some Bluray players ( Some Panasonic models and Oppo are the most common) allow you to add a subtitle track from a usb stick (or HD attached via usb )
B) rip the Bluray into a MKV file and add your own subtitles using VLC player then watch via computer or burn a new disc ( I don’t have the ability to do this one)
C) watch the movie on Netflix for now and order the Japanese set as it’s in stunning packaging and you can swap out the disc for a eventual official physical media release when Netflix releases its stranglehold on it later this year or next.
D) buy a bootleg version from eBay or sloppy seconds.
E) if you have the patience. Wait for the eventual Bluray release in the West.

cool looking boxset, really hope we get a release date here soon, havent seen it yet looks amazing, shin godzilla was awesome so this should be, hopefully lives up to the hype, did go and watch godzilla kong and it was ok bit of fun, rather watch this though, maybe one day
I hope so too mate, sure we will eventually. I preferred this over Shin Godzilla ( which I also really enjoyed) Minis One is a much more accessible story, I did really enjoy Gareth Edwards Godzilla (2014) and thought King of the Monsters and Skull Island were both ok, but
Really struggled with Godzilla Vs Kong, Godzilla X Kong and the Legacy show. I know they have their fans, but they fell short for me. Had much higher hopes for Godzilla X Kong, I really dig on Adam Wingard’s earlier movie The Guest.
@@TheFanaticalDragon for me you can never beat Toho but i take the legendary series for what they are over the top dumb fun and i love Godzilla and have since i was a kid so any fix will do, still need to to watch the netflix animated films and series, awesome boxset cheers

It will, Japan and the USA are both region A in general, But this particular release is region free.

As I explained in the video and the description box, No English subs. it plays in US Blu-ray players. No DVD’s are included in this set at all.
You need a BluRay player that supports external subtitles

huh? Not sure what the second half of your question means, but yes, You can play this bluray in a bluray player.
Japan and American both use Region A disc encoding, but this release is multi region, It'll play just fine in any player.

This version? Add Eng subtitles via USB stick if your player supports that function or else wait until it gets a English friendly release.

Thanks brother, I totally regret mentioning Godzilla X Kong in the video at all tbh, lost a bunch of subscribers and received a whole bunch of angry messages from people who don't like that i didn't have the same opinion on the movie that they did. I should have known better.
in hindsight, would have been much better to just focus on the box in hand.

I wouldn’t call Godzilla X KONG a piece of 💩, then you might as well refer to the SHOWA ERA as being the same, which IT IS NOT! Godzilla can be a mindless , fun , experience as well, enjoy 🎉
I hear that comparison quite a lot, i don't agree with it at all, I adore the Showa era Godzilla ( and Gamera) movies. Godzilla X Kong didn't remind me of them whatsoever. The Showa era movies had a whole lot of heart. I find no meaningful comparison to be made between the American made Monsterverse movies and anything coming out of Japan. I found Godzilla X Kong to be extremely soulless and worst of all for a monster movie, rather boring. but like i said in the video, if you enjoyed the movie, great! I didn't at all.
That shouldn't remotely bother anyone who did enjoy it in the slightest. It's crazy to me how much it seems to.
