Ugh, no I HATE discs being housed in cardboard "pages"! It makes me so nervous every time I pull it out that I will scratch or damage the disc. Therefore, I have started taking those discs out of that awful packaging and just keeping the actual discs in separate protective sleeves, while the packaging still looks nice on its own.
Yeah. When I get this set later on, I’m going to put the discs into separate jewel cases that are used for CDs… AFTER SPENDING 20 MINUTES CAREFULLY GETTING EVERY DISC OUT. 😂😩
@@ZeloraYT Although they are definitely not perfect, I still think the 4K editions are better than the Blu Rays. The Blu Rays are INSANELY oversaturated and look like (for example) R2D2 has blue neon lights whereas in the 4K it actually looks like blue metal again. They are a bit dark, but I didn't find it *nearly* as much of an issue as a couple other 4K's known for being "overly dark". I still want the superior format, unless the 4K edition was REALLY messed up to the point that the Blu Ray is somehow better (i.e. Pirates of the Caribbean Curse of the Black Pearl and T2)

Such a sweet box set. I already own all of the Star Wars movies on bluray, so I’m probably not gonna pick up this set up even though I adore the original trilogy and have nostalgia for the prequels. Enjoyed the unboxing man! -Chris
The 4K Blu Ray discs look MUCH better than the Blu Rays from 2011, especially the Original Trilogy! The standard Blu Ray discs that are included are also remastered from the 4K scans, so that’s a plus! 👍
I definitely feel you with wanting to open the packaging/remove the shrink wrap very carefully. It's hard as a vinyl record collector too, because the cardboard jackets that vinyl comes in can be quite flimsy and very easily damaged! (though most of my records are originals where the shrink wrap was removed decades ago, but I do occasionally buy new/re-pressings)

I really hope they release the individual 4k films with slipcovers in the UK like they have in the US. While it's a lovely looking set, I am just not a fan of that style of packaging, even though it would make a good display piece.
Yes, I would imagine those slipcovers will surface over here at some point. Disney know how people go crazy for their various slipcovers, so I'm sure they'll want to make an extra penny or two!
I'm in US and I agree with you. I went out and bought all of them individually on UHD all because of the slipcovers they look great. Hopefully they become available to you.

bit of advice mate, slice the sides first, and then you can lift the cardboard piece and cut along without worrying about slicing underneath into the box :)
I own this colloction myself, I bought 3 6 disc blu ray empty cases to put ylrhem in cause I hated hoemw they was packaged in this collection housing wise for discs
I’m very iffy on this set. The packaging looks fantastic and I’m honestly not bothered by the lack of trays to store the discs. I just can’t bring myself to buy it yet. I have all all but one of the films on Blu-Ray and I’m honestly not too keen on the newest trilogy.... that’s one third of the price tag ya know? I really want to dig into those special features though, and the note from Mark Hamill is very nice! Really great breakdown of the set!
I very highly agree with you on saying The Empire Strikes Back is the best Star Wars movie cause it is!!!! It’s the Star Wars movie I’ve seen the most and not only that it’s also my favorite movie of all time!!!! I have a 1 hour review for it on my channel lol
I love physical media but I'm not a collector. I like to own DVDs and Blu Rays but I don't get excited by special presentation packs, steel books etc. so maybe I'm not the best person to comment. But this feels like the films themselves are a bit of an after-thought. Those horrible cardboard sleeves that the discs are shoved into are a very poor way to store them in my opinion. Anyway, just my opinion and I get why collectors might love this. Enjoying the channel - keep up the good work!
If the original theatrical cuts of the original trilogy and The Phantom Menace were included, the set would be complete. The Empire Strikes Back is my favorite, but Attack of the Clones is my least favorite.
Hey Elliot I also ordered this too from Amazon, weirdly i only got the inner box as packaging, so VERY lucky there was no damage. The Skywalker Saga is presented superbly here, as you say the quality of the box itself feels great, the letter from Mark and the overall presentation is awesome, my only gripe is the housing of the discs, but not sure how they could have otherwise accomplished the aesthetics of the set. I think i will purchase 3 x 10 way cases and pull them all out, as they are VERY tightly held in place, so you just end up with fingerprints over them, so you're cleaning them each time. Watched the first two films already, certainly an improvement over the existing blu-rays, i know some were 2K DI anyway, so just an upscale, but it is a professional one and the HDR makes the difference, looking forward to seeing A New Hope as i hear the 4K is especially well done on that. My favourite is also Empire, which sadly i hear isn't as great a 4K job, but still an improvement regardless. Thanks for sharing, and may the force be with you...always. Dean

This set would be good if it was just the restored original theatrical cuts for Star Wars, Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi with special features, empire of dreams, from star wars to jedi etc . Id pay double what you paid for that. Seeing those other films in the box set devalues it in my opinion.
Since you bought the UK version, which is region free I think, could you please tell me what language and subtitle options the discs have? I would GREATLY appreciate it! The U.S. version only has English, Spanish, and French for language and subtitle options I think.

This collector‘s box is nice. But CD‘s will scratch when you pull it out. It has also the shit episodes 7-9, which I hate. The collector‘s box from 2011 is the best for me, because of the artwork.

Absolutely beautiful case and presentation. Such a shame it includes the sequels. If there was a 4k box set with just the prequels and originals I'd be all over it. Just my opinion.
Thank you for this unboxing video. The packaging is cool. But personally, I could never buy this box set, because that would mean that I would give Disney money for the abominations that are episodes 7-9. No way. If they packaged 1-6 with Rogue One, then I might consider it.
Presentation on the exterior is nice, but yeah those sleeves are not built to last. Inevitably will ruin (some of) that great artwork. Shame. I'll stick with my Harmy despecialized editions!! My favourite has always been Return of the Jedi, probably because it was the first one i saw as a kid on VHS. But undoubtedly Empire is the *best* film on every conceivable level. Excellent. Episode 9 is the worst of the lot. The ending to Mandalorian S02 E08 is what fans want to see, and (spoiler alert) really should be part of the "Skywalker Saga". Nonetheless, excellent looking collection you have there.
I have very mixed feelings about this release. The packaging is fancy and the inside pictures and Hamill’s letter are nice, but the cardboard sleeves, ugh. The 4K remasters suffer in some areas, particularly the Original Trilogy. What they’ve done is applied a lot of DNR to remove grain to make it look clean and modern or something? I have no idea. But it makes scenes look waxy and unnatural. Disney have had a history of applying DNR to their movies for Blu-Ray releases (if you’ve seen screenshots of the Blu-Ray of Cinderella, you know exactly what I’m talking about), and unfortunately Star Wars is suffers from Disney DNR. The Phantom Menace is especially the worst looking out of the bunch, but it’s been a problem even before the Lucasfilm buyout. Hell, I’m not the biggest fan of Episode 1, but I still think it deserves more effort and care than this. HDR isn’t mind blowing either like some other recent 4K releases, and there’s the absence of Dolby Vision, which I guess is because Disney just wants to cut costs. But the redone colour correction for the OG Trilogy look pretty great and are a lot better than the oversaturated colours that first appeared on the DVD release in 2004, that were carried over onto the Blu-Ray release in 2011. And I don’t have a problem with simply upscaling Episodes 2 and 3. Yeah, it’s disappointing that they aren’t true 4K, but they’re the best they’ve ever looked and Episode 3 looks amazing. Atmos tracks are all fantastic. Yeah, it’s kinda hard to recommend.
I enjoyed watching that so much I expect to soon receive an email from a internet blackmailer advising me they recorded me watching porn. I think opening both sides of the black outer box simultaneously would have replicated the opening text scrawl from Episode IV: A New Hope. I still remember going to watch Episode IV when it first came out in the 1970's and being blown away by the opening scrawl and the the rebel space ship followed by the Star Destroyer filling the screen. I went to see it twice in one week.
Nice to have them on 4k blu rays, but holy fuck i hate the packaging, you can store it nowhere, you have to flip through stuff to find what you want, nightmare, sorry to be a downer but i had to get it out

BluRay discs are scratchproof.

I don’t know if this has been pointed out but Mark’s letter is most likely printed on a material referred to as vellum paper.
The letter from Mark Hamill is also on the blu ray box set. I didn't even know it was on 4k till I saw this. I'm going to get it now.

Since you bought the UK version, which is region free I think, could you please tell me what language and subtitle options the discs have? I would GREATLY appreciate it! The U.S. version only has English, Spanish, and French for language and subtitle options I think.
LooseyLuz it is the exact same for the UK edition except there’s horrible age ratings on every disc and packaging and there is no digital download

Is the non 4K Blu-ray box set for the Skywalker saga using the same master as the 4K/Disney+ transfers just in 1080p or are they using the 2011 masters? I can’t seem to find that information anywhere on the internet
Yes, the standard blu-rays are the new disney transfers in 1080p and not the old 2011 masters.

This collector‘s box is nice. But CD‘s will scratch when you pull it out. It has also the shit episodes 7-9, which I hate. The collector‘s box from 2011 is the best for me, because of the artwork.

Absolutely beautiful case and presentation. Such a shame it includes the sequels. If there was a 4k box set with just the prequels and originals I'd be all over it. Just my opinion.

Thank you for this unboxing video. The packaging is cool. But personally, I could never buy this box set, because that would mean that I would give Disney money for the abominations that are episodes 7-9. No way. If they packaged 1-6 with Rogue One, then I might consider it.
Presentation on the exterior is nice, but yeah those sleeves are not built to last. Inevitably will ruin (some of) that great artwork. Shame. I'll stick with my Harmy despecialized editions!! My favourite has always been Return of the Jedi, probably because it was the first one i saw as a kid on VHS. But undoubtedly Empire is the *best* film on every conceivable level.

Excellent. Episode 9 is the worst of the lot. The ending to Mandalorian S02 E08 is what fans want to see, and (spoiler alert) really should be part of the "Skywalker Saga". Nonetheless, excellent looking collection you have there.
That's a lot of money for 2 1/2 good movies out of 9
I have very mixed feelings about this release. The packaging is fancy and the inside pictures and Hamill’s letter are nice, but the cardboard sleeves, ugh.
The 4K remasters suffer in some areas, particularly the Original Trilogy. What they’ve done is applied a lot of DNR to remove grain to make it look clean and modern or something? I have no idea. But it makes scenes look waxy and unnatural. Disney have had a history of applying DNR to their movies for Blu-Ray releases (if you’ve seen screenshots of the Blu-Ray of Cinderella, you know exactly what I’m talking about), and unfortunately Star Wars is suffers from Disney DNR. The Phantom Menace is especially the worst looking out of the bunch, but it’s been a problem even before the Lucasfilm buyout. Hell, I’m not the biggest fan of Episode 1, but I still think it deserves more effort and care than this. HDR isn’t mind blowing either like some other recent 4K releases, and there’s the absence of Dolby Vision, which I guess is because Disney just wants to cut costs.
But the redone colour correction for the OG Trilogy look pretty great and are a lot better than the oversaturated colours that first appeared on the DVD release in 2004, that were carried over onto the Blu-Ray release in 2011. And I don’t have a problem with simply upscaling Episodes 2 and 3. Yeah, it’s disappointing that they aren’t true 4K, but they’re the best they’ve ever looked and Episode 3 looks amazing. Atmos tracks are all fantastic.
Yeah, it’s kinda hard to recommend.
I enjoyed watching that so much I expect to soon receive an email from a internet blackmailer advising me they recorded me watching porn. I think opening both sides of the black outer box simultaneously would have replicated the opening text scrawl from Episode IV: A New Hope. I still remember going to watch Episode IV when it first came out in the 1970's and being blown away by the opening scrawl and the the rebel space ship followed by the Star Destroyer filling the screen. I went to see it twice in one week.
Nice to have them on 4k blu rays, but holy fuck i hate the packaging, you can store it nowhere, you have to flip through stuff to find what you want, nightmare, sorry to be a downer but i had to get it out
