Sadly, this delayed US release will severely increased demand for pirated versions. Japanese Anine and Asian Drama fans have been adding their english subtitles to video for 20+ years.
They probably didn't include English subtitles because they likely already had distribution agreements in NA...
I can’t wait to get my hands on that! I’m so excited I’m buying a new tv this year and that’ll be my 1st movie on it!!
Saw it 5 times in theaters, came in just wanting to experience a toho movie in the theater for the first time and then as I finished me and my cousin both agreed that it was one of if not the best movie of 2023. I hadn't seen Oppenheimer up to that point but from everything I had seen it was an easy conclusion to make and now after seeing Oppenheimer this year, those two movies work beautifully together and I can't wait for the Minus One bluray release in the US so I can watch both movies back to back. I hope if it comes to the US we get a release similar to this cause it looks awesome and I'd be more than happy to pay a premium for it since it is such a good movie.
Saw it eight times in theaters, including once in IMAX, four times in AMC Prime. Saw the Minus Color version too. My only regret is that i couldn't see it in Dolby Cinema.
I watched 3times too.
I'm from Japan.
Takashi Yamazaki did great job! Because, He did director and VFX and script writer!
Disc comes in full screen or black bars
Very likely they won’t do an international release with English subtitles or if they do it’ll be a while.
Godzilla minus one is special on its own in Japan
Janus Films (who own Criterion) already announced that they have acquired the US home media rights and are planning a release for this year.
@@trevorriches136 yeah but very likely a long wait. Japan has been trying to keep Godzilla Minus One as it’s own independent thing instead of a international which it should.
@@jdlizzard62They're just really backwards with this stuff, always are. Then, when everyone and their aunt has pirated it and doesn't buy it they'll be scratching their heads at the relatively low sales.
@@primus209 low sales? Their products are doing good in sales lol especially with their minus one merch.
@@jdlizzard62 I said relatively low sales. They must be impacted by this staggered release. It's unquantifiable, so we'll never know for sure though.
I mean it is a Japanese movie. So if they don’t have subtitles it is what it is.
No subtitles? Hmm, I wonder if this is to take advantage of the collector market ensuring that those people will buy the Japanese version and the, I'm guessing soon to be released, subtitled version for "completeness."
I don't know why you were expecting english subtitles in a home release that's clearly meant for the Japanese market. It's a very stupid thing to call them lazy about not adding non-native subtitles to their releases.
Because they already fi wished translating it and had a full subtitle already made. It makes no sense to not use the existing one. It doesn't take them any more time.
It’s true, they could’ve just added the English subtitle by default because when the movie came out here in the US on Dec of ‘23 in theaters you were able to watch it with English subtitles
Does it have Dolby atmos?
I ordered mine and waiting for it to get here, but the one I ordered looked different. It has gold paper wrapping and the box art is different. Is there multiple versions?
There's also a 4k version with 4 disks. Did you get that one?
I'm pissed off! No English subtitles!
Yeah I was a little shocked there weren't any English subs especially considering we know there's a fully finished subtitle for the movie already since it had a US theater release. Makes no sense.
Aspect ratio full screen or black bars??
Black bars top and bottom
So this works in American 4K players like the Sony x700 4K player?
Of the hundreds, if not thousands, of 4K discs available in the world, there are only around 3 that are region-locked. 99.9% of the time when you buy a 4K disc, you’re getting a region-free version. I think it’s actually part of the UHD Alliance standard that all discs have to be region-free, so I’m not sure exactly why there are a very very limited number of region-locked sets. You should be good to buy this version, though! :)
And Japan uses the same region code as the US for blurays. It's DVD that they had a different region for.
Thanks for the information@@evilzombie
