Thank you!! I am a substitute teacher. In my state, we only need Bachelor's degree, clearances, fingerprinting, and a 12-part course. I started WGU on June 1st, but I couldn't officially start classes till the 3rd. This is a second BS degree for me.
I just applied to the teachers college at WGU for the elementary education program. Today I spoke to my admissions counselor and all I have left to do is submit transcripts, get financials figured out, and do orientation! I plan to start classes in fall this year!
Hi! I'm hesitating in going to WGU, I read a lot of bad reviews, also very good ones... but you know always the bad things tends to get more weight in the mind ...
Depending on how much financial aid you get, it could cover it, as well as grants and they offer scholarships. Papers can be essays or answering questions, they provide a rubric for what you need to do. Previous college credits can transfer as long as they are what you need toward your degree, I had 3 of my community college credits transferred. Hope this helps!
It is such an easy process to enroll and they are so helpful when they call you about the programs. They give you all of the necessary information. If you have previous college some credits may even transfer. You apply online and there usually is a coupon to apply for free!
Thank you for this video, I will start at WGU December 1st and I’m doing elementary education and special education. What tips can you give about your experience so far and advice please?
How exciting! I have graduated and am in my first year of teaching! Work at your own pace and try to finish as many courses as possible in a term. This will save you money. Also, try pre-assessments early on and if you pass them, I would try the final assessment. You can pass a class in a day if you know the content:)
Hi Emily. About the Teachers College, must you be a resident of the United States to enroll. I plan on starting August 1st, and I originally wanted to study English. But that option wasn't there. So I switched to Elementary Education Degree. But I wanted to know, is it for only US residents, or generally anyone can take it and get a degree.
This would be a great question to call and ask. I did a quick search and all I could find was information that WGU can only have students in the US or who are in the military stationed in a few different countries. I am sorry I don’t have more information!
Yes, I have to complete all of the required state licensure tests to apply for my license. The masters programs depend on the program. My state does accept teachers to complete their Masters through WGU.
How is the math classes is it hard? I start April 1st. I am in my last two weeks of Academy for PACA right now. And im nervous to start hopefully i can buckle down and get it done in two semesters or even 6 months! I also need to figure out a good study method for myself. 😬😬
@@emilyg1460 At my community college i had went to it was very difficult especially for the degree i was going to be getting. Im doing at WGU my Elementary Education Degree also. When you first start what do you get i was told they send you some sort of box with information is that true?
I start on the 1st! I’m only worried about the math. If you are ever interested in being a online tutor for someone and make some extra money please let me know! I would love to have someone who went through the same program
That is awesome! I am rooting for you! If you feel like you are struggling in the math, let me know! I may be able to help depending on the areas you are struggling with 😊

Hello Have you taken educational psychology and development of children and adolescent ? Im like struggling to pass it., was wondering if you have some advice for me.
Have you made a plan with your instructor? The thing that helps me is going through and retaking all of the quizzes and unit test, and writing down vocabulary that I struggle with. Use the pre- assessment as help on what to study as well. Sometimes you can find flash cards on quizlet as well!

Does your program include state certification? Do the masters program include it? This is critical in getting a teaching job.

How many courses have you been able to finish per semester? I know everyone’s different but curious what’s even possible to strive for.
I have done up to 11 courses in a semester. My goal this semester is 14- I have already passed 5 within a month.
Otherwise pretty good video
Don’t do this, make sure that you are using Office and Notes for everything. Keep everything organized. Very specific folders.
I am always open to advice, thank you.
