    Super helpful video. Thank you so much and huge congrats! I wish all the NP schools would set up clinical placements for students. I find it outrageous that they are getting away with charging money for us to reach ourselves, and plus we are paying them to set up our own clinical preceptors. You provided a lot of great info and I will 100% check out WGU. Best of luck to your future endeavors ❤

    Hello, I am completing my BSN through Capella and should be done in roughly 6 months. I am trying to decide on an FNP program and WGU looks like it will be the winner. I was hoping for more of a hybrid option, but the "brick and mortar" options are few and far between. And EXPENSIVE. I am also a Floridian and wanted to know how you went about locating preceptors? I am concerned about this as I have read horror stories about this online. Also wondering about the job outlook here in FL. I see that the salaries appear to be very low just doing general NP job searches. Is this what you found as well? Sorry for all of the questions, but I was excited to see someone from FL take this path

    • @ItsDanaKay
      @ItsDanaKay  6 місяців тому +1

      Hey thats fine totally good questions! The school was online except for preceptors.
      I have a whole video series on preceptors because it was tough. Check them out and let me know if you have more questions. But I was able to find what I needed.
      The salary for fl ranges anywhere fore 100 to 120k for family practice office new grad. But there are other options if you wanted to work in hospitality type role or you have specialty experience like oncology/GI/ surgery experience you may be able to tailor your resume for a better acute hospital role.
      Hope this was helpful.

    Thank you for this video! I’ve been trying to get some insight on WGU’s FNP program. I finished their MSN Leadership program in 2021 and I plan on applying to their post master’s FNP program. I’m glad to know that clinical is in the final semester. Do they allow students to use clinical placement companies such as NPHub if students have trouble finding a preceptor?

    • @ItsDanaKay
      @ItsDanaKay  Рік тому +3

      There have been so many changes I would clarify with the clinical team. I would feel horrible about giving the wrong information. I did have to pay for one of my preceptors but there was no paperwork stating I could not at the time. Also if you have connection or option you could “secure”your clinical before you started. I did not use the hubs. It was so expensive.

      The exams are pretty difficult especially the the 3 ps and the majority of certain classes are just one pass fail exam. The terms are six months long just like the terms in the BSN program you can accelerate the first term. If you look closer at the video I talk about how and what classes I was able to celebrate in my first term the transferable msn classes that are found in other courses for wgu i was only able to accelerate those nothing NP reLated. You can also call them and see if they’re still accelerating and for what program. My last three terms I was not able to accelerate, and I completed the program and a total of two years.

    • @ItsDanaKay
      @ItsDanaKay  6 місяців тому +2

      That is such a good question. I guess it depends on the individual state and employer. There are more online degrees in many fields today. Also it’s not 100% online. I did have to do over 600 hours of clinical rotation. One trick you can do is look up the company that you were applying for on LinkedIn and look up employees in the field from that company and see where they have their degree.
