    I graduated with my BSN from WGU in 2023. But am considering going back for my FNP. But this program is no longer 22k it’s actually closer to 35k now as the rates will be going up accordingly to my alumni meeting with admissions last week. Super helpful video. Thank you so much and huge congrats! I wish all the NP schools would set up clinical placements for students. I find it outrageous that they are getting away with charging money for us to reach ourselves, and plus we are paying them to set up our own clinical preceptors. I am curious about FNP programs; hence, a search showed your video. I am a student of WGU, presently in the MSNED program. I was not aware that WGU now offers BSN- FNP. ( my BSN was done at a brick-and-mortar school, SUNY, Downstate).----- Congrats!

      Thank you. I have a friend who did the MSN ed and loved it she went back for FNP and a friend who did FNP with me and went back for PMHNP. Depending on where you are in the program you can switch if you've done the core MSN classes you can start the NP. Speak to your program mentor. It was as difficult as any other program and you will need 3 preceptors in Family or PMH. You will need 600 hours which is 100 more than any other program and that 100 is a lot of hours. I would still recommend the program but the price has risen. ANd I graduated in 22 so I would call the school for updated information. Good luck to you :)

    Did they help you find preceptor placement? I'm did their Prelicensure BSN program. Then went to West coast pmhnp program hate the influx of WEEKLY assignments. Not for the working adult. Trying to figure out if I should go back to WGU for MSN leadership then do their pmhnp postmaster or go straight to their pmhnp program. Thoughts?

    Hello, I am completing my BSN through Capella and should be done in roughly 6 months. I am trying to decide on an FNP program and WGU looks like it will be the winner. I was hoping for more of a hybrid option, but the "brick and mortar" options are few and far between. And EXPENSIVE. I am also a Floridian and wanted to know how you went about locating preceptors? I am concerned about this as I have read horror stories about this online. Also wondering about the job outlook here in FL. I see that the salaries appear to be very low just doing general NP job searches. Is this what you found as well? Sorry for all of the questions, but I was excited to see someone from FL take this path

    • @ItsDanaKay
      @ItsDanaKay  11 місяців тому +1

      Hey thats fine totally good questions! The school was online except for preceptors.
      I have a whole video series on preceptors because it was tough. Check them out and let me know if you have more questions. But I was able to find what I needed.
      The salary for fl ranges anywhere fore 100 to 120k for family practice office new grad. But there are other options if you wanted to work in hospitality type role or you have specialty experience like oncology/GI/ surgery experience you may be able to tailor your resume for a better acute hospital role.
      Hope this was helpful.

    Hi. How do employers feel about an online nurse practitioner degree? I have heard mixed reviews but I’m really interested in the masters in fnp from WGU.

    • @ItsDanaKay
      @ItsDanaKay  Рік тому +3

      That is such a good question. I guess it depends on the individual state and employer. There are more online degrees in many fields today. Also it’s not 100% online. I did have to do over 600 hours of clinical rotation. One trick you can do is look up the company that you were applying for on LinkedIn and look up employees in the field from that company and see where they have their degree.
