Congratulations, I am so happy for you. Continue keeping us updated on your journey. it is very inspiring to many of us. Looking forward to your next video.
Awe this gives me so much hope! Like you I started out at a preschool and I didn’t feel like it was the best fit for me. I’m starting teaching classes at WGU soon and my biggest worry was being taken seriously with an online degree but now that worry is gone. I hope to fill out a teaching position soon to help out with all the shortages.
Thanks for your inspiration! I just started WGU and we were in about the same boat for classes and goals. I am following your path and am two weeks in and have finished four classes!
Hi girlfriend! I’m currently going to school at a local university for elementary education but I’m looking at WGU for my masters….. thank you so much for this video! I was so worried about people not taking my degree seriously because it’s online. Love your story❤️
I have seen your videos. For the past weeks and you have inspired me in so many ways. I have applied for WGU and I’m in the process of getting registered. Congratulations!!! 🎉 on your first teaching job and good luck in your up coming classes.
I loved your video! I'm thinking of transferring to WGU for elementary education. Does the school provide resources or help finding student teaching opportunities and certification to teach for students who want to pursue those things? Thank you so much!
I am currently taking a break from teaching so I am not sure what program I will be doing when I return to the field. However, I was looking at WGU but they won't allow me to do a job embedded program in Tennessee at the moment. Middle Tennessee State University and University of Tennessee Knoxville are other programs I have been looking at.
I have a question, I commented on your previous video as well. How were you able to skip student teaching and go straight into taking your praxis? Also, what was required after you accepted your position to get started teaching immediately?
I got my bachelors in Educational Studies and then took the Praxis Exams. I didn’t do student teaching because I was out of my home state when I finished my degree and didn’t want to get certified in the state I was currently living in. I am now having to teach on a job embedded license where I am taking classes and being observed every now and then to complete my “student teaching”.
I want to get my Masters in Educational Leadership but the US Department of Education site says WGU National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education is no longer recognized. Is this still a good degree if I want to be a principal or in administration? I don’t want to be a teacher.
What’s the difference between your degree and the certified teaching degree being that you did teach 3rd, kinder and 1st grade ? I’m asking because I am about to start elementary teaching bachelors in WGU soon
The only difference is that WGU will not sponsor/recommend you for licensure. I had to get an emergency teaching permit sponsored by my county and state in order to teach.
I'm just now looking at WGU, is there a reason you weren't able to student teach? Because I thought I saw somewhere on their website that it is part of their program.
I’m interested as well. I’m still not really hearing how you officially got licensed? You had a Bachelors degree, went ahead and took your praxis after you graduated, then just applied at a school that gave you an emergency permit? Does this mean you have so long to get a license or you lose your job?
From what I understand a lot of people do it because student teaching is usually 3-4 months and non paid as to where to go this alternative route you can immediately start teaching while getting paid instead.

Thank you! Will do!
You have been my inspiration! I start with my bachelors of education in educational studies august 1st! 🎉
Thank you so much! Hope all goes well for you in your degree!

Did you end up attending WGU? If so, how'd it go?
@@marcz239 yes I am still a student. It’s going well! I did end up leaving the education program and switching to IT for personal reasons
@@FromMotherGaia was it hard. I'm very interested in this program but scared it'll be too challenging

if i’ve never been to college and want to be an Elem school teacher, can i do all this at WGU?
If you are interested, I would contact the admissions at WGU, they can definitely help out and give you a little more insight than I can!
yeah what Master program are you looking into doing. Im planning the same after my BAES

What was the praxis like?

I chose not to because I was not in the state I wanted a license in yet.

Hi! I am interested to know why you went the non licensing route? Was it faster to do it that way?
I'm curious about that too.
