And in the only IROC race ever shortened by rain. But he was not the only truly great NASCAR driver that had a poor record in IROC. Richard Petty also had a pretty dreadful record in IROC, given how great he was. Petty was the only one of the top NASCAR drivers of his era never to win an IROC race.
@@cjs83172 I mean, at the time Petty was racing in IROC it was well and truly after his NASCAR heyday as well, so it's not like he was kicking ass in one league and not in the other. Petty was well and truly burnt out from age by then

The mid-to-late 1980s when IROC returned or in the 1970s, because he did not do nearly as well as his NASCAR contemporaries did, even in IROC's first run from 1974-'80. If you're referring to his run in 1989, I would totally agree, because he was not competitive at that time. But he also struggled in IROC in the mid-to-late 1970s (especially compared to Pearson, Parsons, Yarborough, and Allison), when he was still piling up wins and championships in NASCAR.
1998.. man those were the days.
Sad for Dale Sr knowing in 4 years he'd be gone. Dale Sr was the best of the best.
