I have NEVER seen such a meritorious capture on such light tackle from the rocks. Ninety Nine out of a Hundred anglers would have either been spooled, broken or chaffed off. The manner in how you managed your rod and reel by turning the fish to where you wanted to play it out and change direction to suit you was just amazing. Josh I have said it before but your productions and skills are amazing. Thanks for sharing such a wonderful video.
Im 71 years old. Have done a little fishing in my time. That has to be the best display of fishing ability I have ever seen. That was amazing to watch, Josh, you are a fishing machine! Well done lad, and I hope all is well with you whatever you are up to these days. Thanks for the entertainment.
Awesome capture mate. A memory that will last a life time. I am 61 now and still remember when I caught a 72Kg yellow fin tuna off the rocks at the Blow Hole at Kiama, back in the day when you could catch them off the rocks. I still remember that moment to this day like it was yesterday. One thing I would like to see you do thought Josh is start wearing a life jacket and proper rock fishing shoes when fishing from the rocks. Glad you are feeling better and making more vids, keep up the great work mate.
if i had a time machine i would go back in time just to fish big stuff out of the rocks its kinda sad how my uncle used to catch octopus same size as him like 30 years ago just inshore now when i go to that place its just some small saddled breams .
I've watched a lot of fishing videos, but never any as exciting as this. This was a proper battle with smart play. Outgunned, Smarts vs Braun. Absolutely magic stuff mate.
This is one of the most intense and highly entertaining fishing videos I have seen on YT. Great skill and resolve! Congratulations and thanks for sharing!
Every once in a while you witness someone who is head and shoulders above the rest. Skill, Knowledge, technique and instinct. This youngster is Mike Tyson in his prime of fishing. Amazing performance.
Very well done Josh, 👏 great tuna and great to eat! Sushi 🍣 or tuna steaks, I caught Very similar at Julian Rocks Byron Bay, and have got 80 pounders Yellowfin tuna at Bermagui, cheers 🍻 tight lines ❤❤😊
Awesome catch mate that was serious angling getting that in! What an exhilarating video.. can only imagine how much fun you had out on the rocks. Love that kind of fishing!
You kid, can fish ! I love it the light gear is what makes it such a great challenge. I not long ago caught an 8.5ft bullshark on a tld 25 size reel with 30lb braid and 90lb wire took me down to the backing and took 2 hours but Ill never forget it.
You went above and beyond to land that Tuna. It takes great skill to do what you did. It was always going to take awhile but you handled it admirably by tapping into your fishing bag of tricks particulary feathering the bale arm. A Meritorious capture.😃🤙🎣👌
Ok its so impressive that you didn’t get spooled in the first place. Here in North America we use size 8000+ reels for tuna and we use those rods for light tackle striped bass and largemoth bass. This deserves a sub man, and I hope more tuna videos will come in the future.
Mighty impressive capture Josh!! I honestly didn't give you (or anyone!) a chance in believing that a fish of that size and fight could be landed on such light gear from that location!! I had sweaty hands every time you and the fish got close to the edge of that ledge, especially each time a large volume of water would sweep over the rocks under your feet!! Hope you were wearing a floatation vest, I'd invest in some rock cleats too just in case..... Hope you guys enjoyed a fine feed from your efforts and catch!! Stay safe and well!!
Luck counts Mr Josh. But we can't deny the skill it takes to make the most of that luck. I remember the 71 cm steelhead trout I landed on #6 line loaded on a 63 cm ice rod. I needed some luck on that one...and not to make a mistake. That was some fine angling you did there. 👌
Hey josh, when I first started watching you you were only at 400 subs. You have come along way since then! The quality of your videos and fishing skills is absolutely phenomenal! Anyway, here in Hervey Bay right out in the middle of the bay We have something called the fairway. Sooo many sharks and paradise for a mackerel fisho ( if you don’t get sharked) we also have the urangan pier which is overfished but if you are lucky you can catch heaps of tuna. Stay safe mate. I look forward to the next vid! Cheers,
Wow. Just wow. Amazing fishing. Unbelievable result. The Tuna must of been a paid actor or something😅 My heart rate was pumping while watching your vid. Nice fishing mate. Your game was perfect. Please.. Wear rock fishing shoes.
Josh, Been a subscriber for a while now and I love your vids and only just came across this tonight. I don’t normally comment on videos but WOW that was an amazing effort. I only fish light and the amount of times I’ve lost out to big fish off the stones, I give you 1000% respect for landing this. Hope your health issues are behind you mate 👍
What a fight Josh, that took courage. Many would have just stood in one place waiting to be cut off on the rocks. Unlikely you will beat that fight but your still very young.
Great catch on light gear! If it was a king your vid would have been a lot shorter, they fight dirty. Well done for being so patient and letting it run the way you did 👌. Having top notch gear and a little luck keeping the braid from sharp objects always helps. Nice work 👌 🍻
well done noodle arms one top catch for around these parts was that saturday? something was busting up little garfish where i was fishing that morning (nearby)but i dont think they were that big the only other time ive known about tuna in our area was long ago in the 80s when there was a school of them jumping along out the back off the surf spot just south of there(name withheld) truly epic and well deserved
