I just love a young man like this talking about "back when I was a kid". I'm not being mean, I remember those days pretty well myself. The terrifying part is how fast the years go once you get out of school and such. Good onya Josh!
Replacement arrived!By the way, I did forget to mention that the original lure did have a decent strike however as most anglers will attest you can get a hit ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxCbNOWAGmn6nfbCbJDmasvBq7J38KZNw2 and fish will hang on and release lure. I used the replacement lure yesterday and ran thru a Shimano Waxwing, Kastmaster, Bobber (set to sink). I found the does run deep (I casting on the flats 3.5'). Make sure you adjust your rate of retrieve and rod tip angle (up) to prevent getting snagged on bottom. Used it a couple of times and action was very lifelike (looked like local bait fish for trevally), craftsmanship very good....however eyeball fell out. I asked for replacement and it is on it's way! It was very easy to change out treble to single inline hook.
Another fantastic video Josh! Nice concept of bait vs plastic. I'd expect the live bait in particular to outfish the plastic, but personally prefer using the plastic due to ease of availability and not having to preserve the livies. Actually, I'd be happy just to go fishing again now that restrictions are being eased........yipee!!
Yeah I had a couple people suggest doing a bait vs lure challenge. So I thought I’d make it happen ;). And I also like you said prefer how much more convenient lure fishing is. Just pack your stuff in the car and go. No worry about getting your bait and what not
G’day Josh, what a great challenge mate. I’ve done similar myself years ago when I first started fishing with lures and results were very similar to yours. I do love using lures. Great video mate, keep them coming.
Josh, stumbled across this video quite by accident, so glad I did. Love the cinematography, commentary and overall ethos. I think you're going g to go far, I hope my sub contributes to your future success.
Amazing yet again love your challenge videos. I know I have asked in a previous video but any chance of a light tackle talk and lures u use light tackle fishing and medium set-ups
@@joshdfishing yeah would be interesting but I think allot of people would like to see your main 10 rods and reel combos and what lb line is on them and what u use them for and the lures u use with that set-up yewww
been waiting for some bait in a while now! though your vids actually made me get back to trying lures again lol👍 btw at 4:18 all that stuff on the ground is samphire- you can eat it and its really good if you want to do catch and cook
Ive swapped predominantly to circle hooks for the same reason, too many fish hooked in the guts and I like to release all mine. Great vid mate, keep em coming
Yeah I’ve had a couple people tell me to use circle hooks. But at the same time if they get swallowed they do even more damage then the hooks that I was using do.
@@joshdfishing The main issue with circle hooks is finding one that's designed well (or correctly) and getting as close as you can to the size that's just right for what you're targeting. Its made even more of a pain due to the fact that there is no size standard. A #4 in one brand can be a #8 in another. Sometimes that #4 can be physically the same size as a different brand's #2 on the other end.
Josh, a great way to spend a day - as you said the big problem with bait fishing is the inhaling of the hook making a release really difficult. I have been using Gamakatsu Shiner hooks - mainly size 2 and 2/0 - and have found that not only are they a great shape for baiting with yabbies but the shape of the hook has resulted in better than 90 per cent of the time hooking either in the corner of the mouth or through the bottom jaw. The are easily removed and make for little harm and an easy release.
Hey Josh, I fish bottom in Alaska If I need to put my rod down by choice or otherwise, I have a leash about 3 foot long with a clip to hook into the rod eye, tying the rod down. It prevents any rod loss. Anything worse than losing a big'un is to lose your gear too.
hey josh, I’ve been getting really unlucky with the flatfellas but coming into warmer months I think I’ll get a couple more, what would be ur best and most reliable lures for them. Also congrats on 2k subs 🥳

Great video mate. Can you tell me what area you are fishing? I would like to find somewhere to fish where there are no people because most of the places I go to fish, every man, child and their dog are there. Thankyou
Hi Josh, hope you didn't have too much back or hammy pain next day after pumping them yabbies,my question,I noticed you didnt have a swivel on the bait set up and just had running sinker to hook, what's the reason for this please?also did you try putting the live yabbie on a jig head?
Gday Shannon. I was lucky enough to have no muscle pain the next day🤣 and I used a running sinker because I was lazy hahah. I usually would use a swivel but yeah. Got lazy with it.
Hi Josh I am wondering if you could tell me what the program is that you use for Tide and weather is you showed in this Video. Keep on fishing like your vids you do. Kim

I got caught up in everything and forgot about the flounder ahah I landed a flatty right near him and he wasn’t there. So I’m gonna guess it swam off🤷
