It worked! I just made 8 meals in 8 minutes … cost £4. That’s 50p a meal!! And it’s really healthy. No boiling water, no large pans to lift, no forgetting it on the stove, no mess! Thank you so much x
I’ve heard so many people complain about the burn error. I like meatballs in my spaghetti and I put my meatballs on the bottom then layer my spaghetti as you did then add water then sauce. I set time for 6 minutes slow release 5 minutes then fast release. It turned out excellent. I never liked pasta until my wife cooked it together. I love it now.
I love cooking with my Instant Pot, especially when we travel in our RV. I’m constantly learning how to cook stovetop recipes in the IP to save time, dishes and, in the RV, counter space 😊 I love that you shared the cook time formula for different types of pasta. That inspired me to subscribe to your channel. I love your simple, informative style and the options you shared! We use cassava flour pasta so I’m hoping the cook time formula will still work 😊 Thank you and I look forward to learning more from your future videos!
I’m going to try the pot in pot method with pasta and Velvetta cheese instead of sauce to make a quick mac and cheese. Thank you for your instructions!!
Thanks, just made for a quick dinner and I didn't know how to do it. Helpful next time to say out loud what buttons we are pushing! Pasta is done perfect but it really watered down my homemade sauce so I had to add a lot more. Next time I'll only put half the sauce in and add cold sauce at the end and put the lid back on and possibly use less water but an awesome way to do pasta fast! Thanks again
Made spaghetti pie with the leftovers. Delicious! Just added two eggs, half pound of maple breakfast sausage, pound of ground beef, and mozzarella cheese. Baked until the cheese melted. Another hit at the dinner table.
I just tried the spaghetti dish (with Rao) and well, it's really not any faster and has a downside of cooking the pre-made sauce. I found out long ago that cooking a pre-made sauce changes the taste; it loses some of the sweetness of the tomatoes. About the only advantage is it's a 1-pot dinner, but that doesn't matter when you have a dishwasher. But I made it anyway because I wanted to use my new Instant Pot Pro😜 Browning the meat takes the same amount of time. The preheat/cooking/venting takes longer than boiling a pot of water, cooking, draining, and adding to the sauce and browned meat. I only heated the sauce, careful not to cook it. When you add the hot spaghetti it's all ready to eat.
People love doing pasta in the pressure cooker because you can set it and walk away and do something else. You don't have to worry about noodles boiling over on the stove. But every recipe isn't for everyone. Have fun with your new Pro. It's a great pressure cooker.
You can do it either way. Add just enough water so the noodles absorb it (which is really great when I'm in my RV and don't want to drain the noodles. Or, add more water and drain it after cooking.
Always add cheese after pressure cooking. Layer it in your serving dish and let the heat from the pasta melt the cheese or top it with cheese and pop it under the broiler.
@@PressureCookingToday thanks! What is the benefit of adding after? I ended up adding it under the sauce and on top of the noodles and it did turn out well.
It hate pulling it off too, but I still almost always remove it and clean it. Sometimes if I'm cooking more than one thing in it in a day (like rice and then something else), I won't clean the lid until I'm done with it for the day.
I have been using my IP for months and have never cleaned the sealing ring or lid. I just shake the water off in the sink, then let the lid air dry each time. The small side handles on the lid are designed to fit into the small side handles on the pressure cooker, like a key in a lock. The lid will be perpendicular to the pot. (Not sure how to describe that well, but I saw it on another video.)
Where are you finding pans that will set inside of your InstaPot pan? I have the 6qt pro and I can't seem to find springform and cake pans to fit inside properly.
Hello, thank you for sharing this method. 2 Questions: 1) what size of pot did you use in the video? (6qt or 8qt?). 2) Does time calculation change based on the pot size? Greetings.
Sounds like your IP may not be working properly. Do a water test and measure how much water before and after pressure cooking. You should have an evaporation rate of 2% for every 10 minutes.
You'll use a zero minute cook time. If your pressure cooker doesn't let you set it for zero minutes, as soon as the time show up on the display, hit cancel and release the pressure.
@@PressureCookingToday you missed the point. It's not about making a spoon dirty. It's the fact that the pasta didn't even move when you "stirred" it. The point is "stirring" raw pasta in water, in that small confined space doesn't do anything. You'd have to use force strong enough to break the pasta, which defeats the purpose. Just pick it up and swish.
Sounds like you're either not using enough water, or you're losing water as it cooks. Do you see steam coming our around the edges of the lid as it cooks? You could do the water test and measure to see how much liquid you're losing as you cook. www.pressurecookingtoday.com/instant-pot-water-test/
You show 4 minute cook time with one method, so without any cook time information for the other methods, I'm going to have to assume 4 minutes is the standard for all?
Time depends on the pasta you're using. Use 1/2 the package time minus 1 minute. More information on this post www.pressurecookingtoday.com/how-to-cook-pasta-in-the-instant-pot/

I'm giving this a shot right now!
Kids loved it. I thought it was a little too runny. Tasted good, though.
Glad it was a hit - the noodles will absorb a lot of liquid as it cools.
@@PressureCookingToday it absolutely did. Very surprised how much they absorbed.

What type of bowl did you use for the sauce?
We cooked the sauce in a 7x3 inch cake pan amzn.to/40Y0nid (affiliate link).
Yes. Quick thx
THANKS LADIES, I wondered how to cook noodles in my insta pot
Our pleasure!
Great video! If I just wanted to make the pasta, let's say for a casserole, do you drain the noodles or is the water absorb by the noodles?

What size (dimensions) is the container you used for the sauce? I would like to get one. Thank you

Very helpful, thank you! If I wanted to add cheese to this, where would I layer that in?
Always add cheese after pressure cooking. Layer it in your serving dish and let the heat from the pasta melt the cheese or top it with cheese and pop it under the broiler.
@@PressureCookingToday thanks! What is the benefit of adding after? I ended up adding it under the sauce and on top of the noodles and it did turn out well.
If the cheese settled to the bottom of the pressure cooker it would burn and prevent the pressure cooker from coming to pressure.
@@PressureCookingToday oh gotcha, thanks so much for all the tips :)
Looks delicious. Question….. Do you clean the sealing ring after every use? I really hate removing &cleaning it. Thanks.

Is there a way to cook the angel hair pasta with water without sauce on top?
Yes, just omit the sauce and cook angel hair for 1 minute.
Where did you get the pot you put the spaghetti sauce in ? Amazon?
Yes, Amazon - we use it all the time. It's a great addition to your PC. amzn.to/4aGYPhu (affiliate link)
Great, informative video! Straight to the point wirhout alot of chatter. Thank you! I am just starting to use my instant pot for pasta. : )
Thanks Chris! Glad it was helpful :)
Can I use this method for other sauces like Alfredo or Vodka instead of Marinara?
Yes, heating other sauces in a pan on top of the pasta will work well.
@@PressureCookingToday Okay, thank you!
Good job. Good to know. Merci, gracias, thanks. :)
I would just use the sautée function and boil the noodles, yes?
You can use the saute function to boil noodles if you prefer.
Will this method work for gluten free pasta as well?
Yes, it does work with gluten free pasta as well.
I appreciate your video, just learning to use my instant pot ultra!
Thanks - have fun!
i like pasta recipe first got your channel subscriber monal
how much water?
Add just enough water to barely cover the past in the pot.
Great video,my 7 year old Granddaughter loves her pasta with butter instead of sauce so the pot in pot is ideal for us
That's great - thanks!
Hello, thank you for sharing this method. 2 Questions: 1) what size of pot did you use in the video? (6qt or 8qt?). 2) Does time calculation change based on the pot size? Greetings.
We use a 6 quart. Since you're using the same amount of water for a 6 or 8 quart, the time does not change when cooking pasta.
Sure. Let’s have little kids start cooking with a pressure cooker. Great idea.
Other than that comment it was a good video.
Glad you enjoyed the video. Jenn's son is 11 and has grown up around pressure cookers.
So five cups of water for the spaghetti but only 4 cups for the penne ?
I thought all pasta took the same amount of water, is this not correct?
Typically you'll just barely cover the pasta with water, so you do need more water with some pasta.
I don't know what to say about this. I do know I will sent this video to some friends just to piss them off 😅
Nada, my pasta CONSTANTLY burns, there's PLENTY of liquid in there but I've only been able to make pasta in the instant pot one time. So frustrating

Breaking pasta 😱😱😱😱😱😵💫😵💫😵💫😵💫
Sometimes a girls gotta do what a girls gotta do lol
Why did you put 5 cups of water for spaghetti but 4 cups for penne?
After making both many times, spaghetti needs more water to cook evenly.
❣❣❣❣
What if the pasta say's 1-2 minute cook time?
You'll use a zero minute cook time. If your pressure cooker doesn't let you set it for zero minutes, as soon as the time show up on the display, hit cancel and release the pressure.
@@PressureCookingToday Alright, thanks!

Why can’t anyone do a video on plain noodles without the sauce?
We show how to just cook the pasta starting at 5 minutes. Just don't cook the sauce in the pan on top.
I don't understand when people try to stir the dry pasta in the water? Just pick up the bowl and swirl it, geez....
If I'm going to stir it/dish it up in the end, I'll probably use a spoon, but swirling it is a good option too.
@@PressureCookingToday you missed the point. It's not about making a spoon dirty. It's the fact that the pasta didn't even move when you "stirred" it. Rule number one for American, don’t break the pasta. Mama Mia
Unfortunately you have to break spaghetti for it to fit in the pressure cooker.
Number one rule for Europeans: don't offer your opinion, no one cares what a euro thinks.

Geez it’s easier to do it the normal way. Boil the noodles. Add the sauce. 🤷♀️
One of the great things about doing it in the Instant Pot is you can leave it unattended without worrying about it boiling over on the stove.
