    Turned out great. I've never left my potatoes whole or such large carrot pieces so will have to try. I like to sear all sides of the meat and thanks for the tip on when the meat is ready to release!

      Select one of the settings, for example pressure cook and then use the plus or minus to adjust the time. One pressure cooking is finished and you have the Keep Warm setting on, the time will start to count up instead of down.

      Hi Dave - it could be very normal depending on what you have in the pot. To speed up the process and get it to heat up faster, use the saute function and then when it's hot, switch it to slow cook.

    Hi, Your video was really helpful. I have tried to use the pressure cooker, but every time I do it doesn’t come out of pre-heating phase. It stays on this mode? I have to manually try and cancel it. When I do eventually open it, the food has burnt on the bottom?

      Generally if that happens it means you're not getting a good seal. Are you seeing steam coming out around the edges of the lid? Does steam continually release from the float valve?

    I used this recipe to make cheesecake for the first time in my Instant Pot....SO EASY! Which makes it dangerous, as I'll probably be making this often! I actually made two at the same time, and they both turned out really well, and no cracks. You're right, It really is better making sure it's fully chilled, as it tasted even better after chilling overnight in the fridge. Great tips and recipe, thank you!

    Why I don’t see you pressing the keep warm button before u press start. Thought is default. Shall I ignore it too? I was cooking soup and water to the max line. It kept saying preheat and the steaming was so loud and long. I cancel it. What shall I do. Why is the steaming out when the vent is lock

      The Keep Warm button is on by default and you don't need to turn it off and on each time. I generally leave it on all the time. You can ignore it too. The steam will come out around the float valve and push it up to lock it closed. If you see steam coming out around the sides of the lid, your gasket isn't in place properly.

      @@800lovette No 15 minutes does not sound normal. There will be almost no steam during preheating until the liquid is boiling inside the pot. Then steam comes out for a few minutes, the float valve (silver metal) rises and seals, then very little steam should be released. Do you see the float valve rising?

      @@PressureCookingToday yes the silver metal does rises but the steaming release was so strong and powerful but once preheating stop the silver metal drop. I cancel the whole process and pour the broth to my normal pot and cook it on top of the stove. I never use it since then

      @@800lovette check the metal float valve and make sure it has a small gasket on the inside of the lid holding it in place.     I wonder if you can answer if you can do cold start yogurt? I can't figure how to skip the boil settings and go to 8 hours of fermentation. I'm tempted to just put a couple cups of water than when its done with boil put in my premixed milk and yogurt.

      No once the pressure cooker has reached pressure, you should see almost no steam being released. If you're seeing steam around the edges of the lid, that means your gasket is not in place properly.

      Unfortunately, this model the lid can get stuck - you have to get the pin to drop to open it. Others have had luck with a firm rap on the lid if you're sure the pressure has been release.

      You can use 3 cups, but it isn't necessary and it takes longer to come to pressure and you won't want to use that much liquid with most recipes.

      Most models don't have an oatmeal or porridge button, so we rarely use the preset buttons. Preset buttons are generally just a recommended time.

    For the smell, what I've done on my previous instant pot is when I'm not using the the pot for anything, I'll use a cup or two of Heinz White Vinegar 6% acidity, straight - not diluted, and pressure cook it for however many minutes/hours (because why not), and do a quick release. If the smells are still there, I might do it again and allow for a slow release. Depending on how strong whatever odors are, it may take 2 or more times. I might discard the first cup(s) of vinegar and use fresh on the next go around. Also, might add some fragrant spice like a little rosemary, or whatever is not unpleasant to you.

I have other older ip suits a bit of a learning curve I've made yogurt with ultrapasteurized milk and starter using the yogurt button for 10 hrs. The instructions for this ip and yogurt button are different. Have you made yogurt with this ip and can you tell me what I need to do differently. Thanks

    4/9/24: Wow, 20 minutes! I'm a newbie when it comes to making chicken broth in my IP, but it makes me wonder if that's enough time to fully extract all the flavors, especially after seeing tons of other videos on this subject and they're all cooking their birds and/or parts for 2 hours or more. And you did yours with no chicken feet, hmm.... I'm baffled to be honest, and while everyone does theirs differently, respect to all, thank you just the same for sharing your technique, but I think I'm going to cook mine for a full stretch of time.

      If you want to make bone broth, then you want to use chicken wings (or feet) and cook it for a longer time, which will give you a thick gelatinous broth when refrigerated. If you want a flavorful chicken stock, you don't need to cook it that long. Enjoy!

      Most all of the buttons are just preset times, so you can use the Pressure Cook button for anything you want to cook. Just set the cook time. I believe the preset time for Porridge is 20 minutes. What type of Porridge are you making?

    I love your videos, soooo helpful! I have an instant pot duo nova but need to invest in different one. Can you tell me which model or models have a yogurt option that I can adjust the time AND temperature? I want to make fermented dairy (SIBO yogurt) but struggling to find one that I can use. I bought the new rio wide 7.5 qt and tried using the sous vide button but it keeps turning off after less than an hour. Please help???

    Soooooo what is the natural release? Keep warm is the natural release? Can I setup the amount of time for the natural release?

      A natural release occurs when the pressure cooker stops heating and the temperature inside the pot falls until there is no pressure inside the pot. You don't have to do anything. The pressure slowly drops and when it drops completely, you can open the pressure cooker. The Keep Warm feature does not turn on until the pressure inside the pot has dropped. So you can turn on the Keep Warm feature on or off. You cannot set the time for the natural release, how long it takes depends on how much food is in your pot.
