My wifey got me an IP for Christmas and I’ll probably never go out to eat again. My first dinner was garlic honey chicken thighs. I was so excited, that’s all we had - garlic honey chicken thighs. I totally forgot to make anything else to go with it. So we had chicken thighs and potato chips. But it was great.
I made Mongolian beef over rice the next night and that was even better reheated the next day. Fortunately I have a rice cooker too, so I was able to prepare the rice at the same time.
Love your instructional videos. Huge fan.

I've had mine for about 2 years. I love it so much! I bought a second one this year. Sometimes I am making yogurt or bone broth in one instant pot and cook dinner in the other. I have a small group of ladies from chruch that meet monthly at my house for dinner. I found out several of them had an instant pot, but had never used it. I had them all bring their pots to my house and we had an instant pot party. Made roast beef, baked sweet potatoes, mac and cheese, and dessert. It was so fun.

Just remember to wear cooking mittens whatever they are called When you release the steam**
I also acquired a microwave toaster oven that has all the bells and whistles. You can do toast, bagels, pizza, cookies, dehydrate, air fry, bake, roast, warm things up and ferment. Sometimes I don't even use the oven most of the time But I really do love the airfryer function!
But again cooking mittens! Long cooking mittens! I really hope I'm saying the correct name.

Yes, I have used mine and I was fearful at first and my heart was racing like it might blow up. LOL But I am sure it was because of growing up and mother used the old type of pressure cooker.
I have done, corned beef, stews many and sooooooooo delicious and the gravy ......omgoodness is out of this world. Pot roast, potatoes, carrots and hard boiled eggs are unbelievable. No more watching the water boil and hoping they are done. LOL
It is amazing! I love it and am getting ready to make your recipe. I will be 74 in a few months so old dogs can learn new tricks. I am thinking now how much time I have used in 53 years of marriage on cooking longer than I needed to! LOL I love the moist meat and no dried parts. I do chicken breast and then make chicken alfredo. It turns out so delicious. I dice a lot of the chicken up for chicken salad sandwiches all week or put on salad and it's ready whenever my husband or the rest of the family pops by I have something to offer them...........it's ready!
I love it absolutely. Last nite I did corn beef cabbage, potatoes, onions and carrots. Delicious and unreal how quickly it all went considering how long it used to take. Don't be afraid of it, it is the best thing that ever happened to the kitchen! All in one pot and clean up is easy! I am purchasing another one to take to our vacation home so I don't have to cook and make more heat in the kitchen on those hot summer days......it just makes sense in such a small space of a kitchen also. Love love love it!
Blessings and ty for sharing all you do!

My son has had an IP for a year and loves it. I have used a stovetop pressure cooker for many years and recently bought a Presto pot but it works the same as the IP. I cooked potatoes for mashed potatoes, made a chicken stew I used to make in my old pressure cooker, and cooked a roast with potatoes and carrots. They all turned out wonderful. I probably won't use it as much as others but it is a good kitchen tool. Thank you for the helpful videos and recipe ideas.

liliana Barajas I got one for Christmas this year too. You’re going to love yours. After you do the water test, you will get over your steam release sound. It hisses high and loud. Then you will feel more confident with cooking with your IP. I already made spaghetti, pot roast, apple cinnamon oatmeal and now I’m making baby ribs in it for supper.

    • @lilianabarajas7525

liliana Barajas The instructions say to do the water test first. Which is a good thing. The first time you hear the steam hissing you may panic for a few seconds. But after that you’re okay. Just remember to use one gasket for savory foods. And the extra colored gasket for sweet foods. You don’t want garlic taste mixed in with your oatmeal. You will love yours. I think people freak out because we all hear the horror stories of relatives and their pressure cookers exploding.

I use it every morning for oatmeal. I wasn’t sure I would be able to eat it cause of the texture thing. But it’s the best. If there is any leftover I put in the fridge and if my husband has an early work day he takes the time to eat it when he normally just run out the door. And no more minute rice in this house. Hi Kristen. I got my InstantPot from a friend for Christmas and used it for the first time today. After watching many of your well done videos I decided a simple pasta dish would be my first meal. It turned out great. When it was finished in the IP, I dumped it into a casarole dish, blanketed it in Mozza and baked it for 15mins. The cheese melted and browned up perfectly.
I did panic a little when I first started it on pressure cook (manual) because there was a bit of steam coming from the top and I was worried I did something wrong and everything would be ruined.
As it turns out, this is normal, but something no one on UA-cam has told us about in any of the "How To" videos. The small steam loss is simply the IP bringing itself up to pressure right before it seals and starts the pressure cook portion.
Once I figured that out it was so simple. Just fill, press and wait.
Thank you for all your videos. I enjoy watching them and really learn a lot. I also just want to say, I find it so cute the way you say the word button. Because of your slight accent it comes out sounding like you say it "buttin". Makes me smile everytime I hear it.

After isolation I wanted to return to the Y , but still fix great meals in. I asked a neighbor who doesn’t use her often to borrow hers promising to share the finds and fixes with her. After 6 hard cooked eggs and one 3 ingredient recipe, I was hooked. When I told my son about it, he sent me one for my Birthday! Oh, did I say I had NEVER cooked with a pressure system ever before? And I am 74!!! Have not screwed up once!

I bought a pressure cooker in the early 2000s,and used it a lot! But then I had to upgrade because I couldn't get gaskets for it anymore. Last year I upgraded to an instant pot 8 quart, my other pressure cooker was 8 quart. My old pressure cooker had all the buttons too, most of them that the instant pot has. Happy using this one for Year but I'll just confess that I like my old one better. It came up to pressure a lot faster than the instant pot. Never burned anything on the bottom like the instant pot has a couple of times, using the same recipes I used for my old one.

Thank you for your recipe. I got my Instant Pot Duo plus yesterday. And I just threw in some basmati rice, 3 cups of broth for 1 1/2 cup rice then some sweet potatoes, bunch of spices and 2 frozen cod fillets. 4 minutes to cook it all, yes it did worry me as it took a long time to get pressurized but you explained it would. Then I had to let it depressurize naturally. It was worth the wait. Yum and I look forward to your Monday recipes.

Since you are cooking with pressure, the times for halved recipes are pretty much the same. I make full recipes and after they cool I label them and freeze. Veggies are great, but you have to experiment with the times a bit. You'll get the hang of it . I love mine for cooking for one.

I LOVE my IP. It took a couple of years for me to buy one. But then I literally made oxtails in it right out of the box! Now I’ve had 3. The first one died of overuse and I ordered a second one ‘instantly’! Then O ordered a small one which I use almost on a daily basis. I cook everything in it. Thanks for all the IP recipes. And the mac and cheese? The best!

You can actually just cook it for 1 minute! I was so shocked! I tried the 4 mins...then 3, then 1... and it was perfect! Even still more leaning towards soft rather than al dente.
Edit.... You don't have to use the saute feature. The heat and warmth from the pot itself will melt everything perfectly!

Ok so it takes about 15 minutes to pressurize and 4 minutes to cook in the pressure cooker.
4 cups of liquid takes about 6 minutes to boil on the stove top (less on induction) and for elbow pasta, 9 minutes to al dante.

I have been using my Instant Pot since October 2019. We've made several items in it. Pulled Port, Split Pea Soup and more. We even used it for Thanksgiving dinner. We were going to go out when we came down with a bad cold. I ended up making Thanksgiving dinner with turkey breast, mashed potatoes and stuffing all in the Instant Pot. We just used it for a Christmas party. I made stuffing as part of our pot luck obligation. It was easy to make, transport and keep warm during the dinner. I am getting brave to try more as I watch your videos. Thank you for all the great, simple ideas!
