I have a bigger family. I usually use 2lbs of meat and a whole box of noodles as well as olives and mushrooms. What time setting should I use? Still the 8 minutes or will it take a little longer. This is my first time using an instant pot. I just bought it yesterday.
Is it a 6 quart or 8 quart? I use 6 qt. I don't think the time really changes but noodles swell up and get puffy and big so all I can suggest it to just try it and learn from it. I've never ever done a whole box of noodles but I have used extra meat. I'm sorry wish I could tell you for sure. But time wise shouldn't make a difference on it cooking, just the space in the pot.
@@WhatsUpwithDJNow yes - 2 lbs thawed ground sausage, 1 box of noodles broke up like you said, 1 onion diced, 2 cans mushrooms (drained), 2 jars sauce, 1/2 jar of water - 10 minutes & it was perfect!
My only tip for you would to be pull the veggies out and toss the ground beef in directly without breaking it up for the first few minutes. It will help you brown the meat more and get that malliard reaction. When you break up ground beef, more steam is released, reducing browning because the steam will lower the temperature of the pan. It will add a lot of flavor, so highly suggest it!
Hi thanks for watching. You turn off the saute button when you're done browning your ground beef and onions if you're doing onions with your ground beef. Saute is only when you're going to be browning something ahead of time so you just have it on long enough to do the time that it takes to do that. There are some things you cook that you just put in, but for spaghetti this is pretty easy. After you brown your meat then just layering the rest. The pressure cooker is a great machine. It does so much. I just cooked a 5lb corned beef in 70 min. Tender and juicy.
I usually reduce the amount of noodles in a given recipe for spaghetti. So for the instapot recipe do I need to reduce the amount of water (this recipe called for 2 cups) if I'm using fewer noodles?
No you always need 2 cups of water in the instant pot because the sauce alone doesn't account for any of the water. I don't use much noodles but if you want even less that's fine. But still use the same water as that's needed. You will just have less noodles and more sauce and meat. But I actually have a good even mixture of noodles along with the sauce and meat. Funny your commenting today I'm about to make spaghetti here in about 30 minutes. Today I'm making a blend with ground beef and Italian sausage
Hi. Because I'm cooking for just myself and noodles poof up and expand as they cook and I prefer my spaghetti more saucy and meaty and with only using 1lb of ground beef and 1 24oz jar of sauce it turns out great. Gives me a good couple days of leftovers. You can put more stuff in your pot, but just realize that noodles get big and expand and with one 1 jar of sauce you won't have with saucy spaghetti. As for the noodles just remember they expand and if you do too much they will over crowd the pan. I never make more then the measurements I indicated so I couldn't tell you or confirm how it would turn out. All you can do is experiment and try. Some people who put too many noodles send up with dryer spaghetti with less sauce. Just experiment if there's a reason your wanting such a larger amount.
