Good tip with the bolts in the floor panels 🍻 Thanks!
Hi Mike thanks for the update and sharing this video coming along nicely. 👍👍👍🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
....bloody hell, I'm going to have to sign up to your Patreon soon....as I'm going to do a complete stripdown and rebuild of my '96 Defender 90 in a couple of months (along with a chassis replacement) and will be using your vids as a reminder of all the bits I'll have forgotten to do.. :)
Thanks Eric and indeed thanks for the Patreon - glad to help and build a library of fixes for you guys - guess what - the parts came in about an hour ago!
Mike
Another great video Mike. Thank you. So relevant to both my project and that of my lad. Am keen to do Patreon also but wish to avoid Paypal. Any ideas?
Stuart,
I think if you want to do a one off, then you can by credit card with Pateron as I have seen a few 'day Patreons' pop up - even for a monthly donation I know they take credit cards and not PayPal
I also set up a Subscribe Star account as Pateron was getting a bit political and some guys wanted an alternative
The links are in the description
Thanks
Mike
I recently fitted one of the Britpart rear door cards and have to say how pleased I was with it. Easy to fit with just a little fettling around the lock and stay. Please be careful slipping it over the inner lock handle though as it would be easy to snap the moulding at that point. Thanks for another excellent video by the way.
Just got it today and it looks good! I have the dovetail for the spare wheel latch so I have to do some cutting, but looks niceMike
My 110 was leaking like hell. Tried to fix leaks with water ingress manual but still there was water in some places. Finally i got some marine grade sika, removed everything inside and sealed all the gaps and cracks and it seemed to work.
Right now i want to fix roof lining and make some sound/temperature insulation.
Hello! Thanks for your videos...i have a question...how do you seal the ceiling gutter ?
Hi Mike, motors looking great, you said the other day when you were future proofing with extra wire "its there for if someone wants it", this led me to think you will be selling her when done, i did think you was going to keep her given all the effort your putting into her. Also do you know the part number for Defender Td5 front door seals, they have them on Bearmach but not sure if they are the right ones.
I sold this last year to a Montreal dealership and they asked me to give it an urban / classic look - so not knowing what customers want as extras, I put more wire in before the trim
Hi Mike, do you have any advice how to stop water coming through the foam seal/gasket that sits between side panels and hardtop roof on defender 110. Thanks.
Replacement is the only way, apart from caulking - use genuine seals to avoid disappointment
@@BritannicaRestorations appreciate the reply, can you caulk it with silicone sealant? Thanks again!
If it is dry, you could give it a try
Hey Mike you mentioned the roof lining, is it the original?
I'm asking because I'm trying to buy interior trim for my 130 and it all looks horrifically expensive.
La-Salle trim looks promising, do you know of them or any other places to get the trim bits?
Tom
I re cover the old head linings with a material that I get from the US - I think it is impossible to find the original material used by Land Rover and theirs was press and / or vacuum formed
The stuff I use is quite stretchy and works well, but only comes on 60 inch widths, so some roofs are tight to do (centre section 110) 64 inch would be perfect
I once fitted a LaSalle head lining in a 110 that a customer supplied, and personally I would not fit another - this was a few years ago and maybe their products are better now, but it was not a straight forward re fit = there were no cut outs for the alpine windows - you had to work that out yourself and glue some inserts in
It screwed to the internal gutter - just didn't look right
In my opinion, they still needed a fabric cover as the finish reminded me of a toilet cubicle
Calculating the cost and the time needed to do all the modifications and fitting, it would have paid for an original head lining

I just checked the supplies in the UK and this came up

expensive but the right size and quality
Hi Mike, what brand Dum Dum do you use? Where do you get it? Thanks!

@@BritannicaRestorations Thanks, Mike
Do you know how to give me the brand and name of the putty "DUM DUM" or a link where I could buy it. Well thank you
Look for 3M sealing caulk strip - nearest thing we can get to it now
you can send me a link, there is a very weak selection of 3M in Slovakia, thank you
I have always been curious if all water leaks should be sealed before applying sound deadening. It seems like if water were to get in it could get trapped under the sound deadening and hold the moisture in and cause rust. I did see that you mentioned moisture in the footwell from boots and that you sealed it all up, but if you ever have to cut it to remove a panel how could it be resealed? More dum dum? haha
I always fit the sound deadening dry AND use the roller - you get more pressure than doing it by hand
And you can never have enough Dum Dum!'
Mike
Do you think that water could get under the sound deadening after it is installed? I have been holding off on sound deadening until I can get all of my leaks stopped.@@BritannicaRestorations
Hard to say as it is a sheet of butyl rubber so it should mould and seal, (like flashing) but with any Land Rover, water will get in anyway, but getting under this stuff? Hard to say as water can come from above and below. Time will tell - BUT far better than any felt that is for sure
Where in the uk can I get dumb dumb putty
