Buck once described Don as having a perpetual smile. It is certainly very infectious. I'm sure we all smile while watching these videos. Buck was great , the buckaroos were awesome but Don was just perfection.
I was eleven years old when this show was on in 1966. This was a must watch in my household! Buck Owen's 8 track was always played in the truck driving to the barn to ride our horses. Great memories and great music! God bless real country music!
I remember watching this as kid. Country music shows were a staple around my house. We didn't have a color TV though, so I missed the pink outfits. My Mom used to joke that Buck looked like the Wolfman. 🤣🤣
The Ranch shows with the original Buckaroos is the real essence of Buck and the Buckaroos. With Don, Tom, Doyle and Willie the pure Bakersfield sounds were born. The harmony of Don and Buck is what really made the superb sounds of the Buckaroos and made them the top band for over a decade. RIP Buck, Don, Doyle, Tom. You set the standard for country music.
Real country music!! I SO miss all those old singer/songwriters. Nobody today even comes close. Proud to say I’m a Bakersfield boy and I miss ol’ Buck! I now reside in hell, I mean Phoenix.
Dangerous Don was the best second in the business. He could have been a superstar by himself. And Buck respected him and gave him top exposure. He got lucky when he found Don Rich. Don took a couple years to make the decision to join Buck. Thank God he did. Unfortunately it ended the way it did
I love to listen to the harmony of Don and Buck’s voices together. Good ‘ole hurtin’ songs as well as tunes that make you happy...that’s the power of good music!
Don was the real star that made Buck I loved the songs but I always listen for Don's voice ,I think Don made it pop I always with a smile and a little cutting up was so great I feal that something died in me wen Don passed and I always wondered what if he had lived wear he would have gone with his great talent R.I.P. Don
Don was one of the most talented musicians ever. He was also just gorgeous and as a little girl, I had quite a crush on him. So sad that he died so very young and so tragically.
I think if he had lived Hee Haw might not have taken place. And if it did, Buck's right hand would have been Don and not Roy. Roy might have been a guest star often, but no one would have taken Don's side position.
That's funny. Everybody in Oildale had it on, and played it loud, and that's all you could hear echoing through those streets, and people sitting on there front poaches and virtually no cars on the road. And yes, no one would admit that they watched Hee Haw, I loved it then as well as today, its timeless.

Don Rich is not only a great guitarist, but his harmonies are spot on.
I wish I had a brother (or sister!) that would sing with me like that
Don Rich OWNS the high third.
He's definitely an under rated very talented artist. He makes it look effortless an aways looks like He's having a great time.
Amazing fiddler too.
Solo expert also, great all around. Today's players should take note.
An era where musicians had class and pride in both their appearance and music
Wow. Don played the heck out of that telecaster. What a talented bunch.
Yes he did.💯👍
Buck and Don were awesome together. They both were at their best when singing together. You cannot beat that harmony.
Everytime I watch Don Rich I giggle with him! Greatly missed.
