      Are you Romaniote? There are not many left. There is an American-Jewish guy I know from New York, who is of Romaniote background, though. It used to drive him crazy because both American Jews and Israeli Jews would confuse Romaniote Jews (the Jewish population that lived in Greece before the Sephardic Jews came in 1492) with Romanian Jews. He'd say he was Romaniote Jewish -- and people would say "Oh, from where in Romania?" and then he'd say "No, we are Greek Jews" and then some people would just be confused (not knowing that there were any Jews at all in Greece) and others who knew just a little bit more would say "Greek Jewish? So you're Sephardic!" To make it more confusing, his wife was actually Romanian (half Romanian non-Jewish and half Romanian-Jewish) so their kids were Romaniote *AND* Romanian.

      Sephardi Jews are pretty much unheard of in the US. Since something like 95-98% of American Jews are Ashkenazi, we're the ones that pop into mind when Jewish is talked about. Also, a lot of sephardic food is just Arab and North African food that they picked up.

      Pardon my ignorance but what’s the difference between the types of Jewish people? Like what separates you guys? Ideology? Interpretation? Ethnicity? The only things I really know about the Jewish people is that there are Hasidic and orthodox and then there’s people who observe the holidays but don’t live as radically as the orthodox? I’m not sure tbh I live a few towns over from the biggest Hasidically (is that a word idk?) populated town in the world next to Jerusalem, (Lakewood New Jersey) and here they do not have a good reputation so being Jewish is kind of looked down upon.. for someone who lives so close to a hub of Jewish culture I know next to nothing about it except that I can drive through Lakewood peacefully on a Saturday only

    I've had it! Jews have been here before anyone. We are a race. Not just a religion. There is both scientific and historical evidence. We lived in alleged "Palestine" before anyone else. We left, and when we wanted to return because we realized that it was our only safe land we found that we had to do something different. We had to use force to get it. We don't want everything. We just want to have our own country with just Jews living together peacefully. Nothing wrong with any other religion (well, some) but if the Middle East let us have our original land back, *our* land, then we wouldn't have any interaction with them what so ever. We won't got to war with the Middle East. As a great person said "If the Arabs put down their weapons, there would be no war. If Israel put down their weapons, there would be no Israel". I won't let *anyone* take my Judaism, my Eretz Yisrael from me, so BACK OFF!!! If you are about to comment about everyone being peaceful and that we are not a race or that we are evil or want everything, then don't even try commenting. For those like-minded thinkers, feel free to chat, have a coffee or maybe some hot cocoa, but for you stupid, disgusting, anti-Jews, OUT!

    • @mordechai-
      @mordechai- 10 років тому

      For the Holiday tonight I have made three types of chicken (we're having 12 guests over on Friday, the second day of the Holiday), several side dishes, my own recipe of gefilte fish (somewhat spicy), pareve ice cream (i.e., no dairy), and we're going to have potato kugel, apple kugel, challah (of course), Kedem wine, not Manishewitz!, and whatever else that I can't recall.

    • @mordechai-
      @mordechai- 10 років тому

      For side dishes we had potato salad (not particularly Jewish, I suppose), white rice, Lukishin Mit Braizil (pasta with fried bread crumbs), both gefilte fish (my recipe, as I mentioned) AND baked salmon, and other stuff I can't recall. The three types of chicken were Crispy Bake Chicken (sort of like the old Shake-and-Bake Chicken), Louisiana Deucy Chicken (chicken coated with corn-flake crumbs on a bed of sweet potatoes and zucchini, all doused with melted margarine, and baked), and Chicken with Mushrooms and wine (which is oversimplifying the recipe, of course). Of course there was wine and challah before it all. Of course.
      On the first day of the Holiday we ate in THEIR Sukkah, but i can't really recall much of what they served. It was all delicious, though. They have a more complicated salmon recipe than I use.

    My wife is Jewish and I’m Italian-American. I crave Matzo Ball soup, Stuffed Derma/Kishka and Kugel. I love Gefilte Fish. These kids need to get out more.
