In italy we drink it by itself, without water....but then the morning after you usually wake up naked, with green hair, in another country...just sayin
+Jackson Catlett That stuff will hit you like a freight train. It's about 140 proof so it's about two shots of normal liquor per glass. For some reason it hits harder than that as well. One will not see the green fairy but they will get wasted pretty easily. The stuff tastes pleasant and not very alcoholic so it's easy to have a glass or two (or three) and it will knock you flat.
My stepfather was never a drunk. In fact, he was pretty uptight his entire life. However, one night he went out with a close friend of his, who was basically an uncle to my family. That night they had absinthe and got too drunk to drive themselves home, so my stepfather called his friend's son to pick them up. When they got home, my stepfather recalled that he had licked rainwater off of a car's windshield and found a man in a pink suit on top of a lamp post. Upon encountering this man, my stepfather said, "Hey, you're awesome." And the man replied, "No, YOU'RE awesome." After telling this story, my stepfather then threw up in the garden. Absinthe: Fun for the whole family.
Gretchen Evoquer all absinthe is made with wormwood. The reason it's legal again is because the original ban was based on a BS move by French winemakers who saw absinthe as a threat to their business. YES, wormwood has thujone, a chemical that can cause psychosis, but (as was proven with a bottle of pre-ban absinthe and modern chemical analysis, which helped get the ban lifted) it's only in trace amounts. You'd die of alcohol poisoning several times before you got enough thujone from absinthe to see things. Absinthe is highly alcoholic and smooth enough to drink quickly, which is why it affects people like it does.
Lekha S it actually is nice. You can buy it online, though you need to check the legal status of it in your country. I have a few "shaman" stores online I get my herbs from. Wormwood is a great, natural pain killer
Yep. Always the way. But then again Absinthe is wonderful. I once had 70% stuff here in the UK, and tried having a quadruple shot. It reached my stomach, but it closed up and wouldn't let it in, so it came back up then I forced it back down again. My voice was gone for 2 weeks afterwards, as it burned my entire throat. The 70%+ stuff is like American Moonshine - the stuff they drank here was probably not that high and they mixed it with water anyway.
Marka Biti that was funny but i don't think this happens. Absinth may be much more common to drink in europe than america but nobody is drinking it casually as their regular alcohol. At least not those who want a fuctioning liver after they turn 30 years old.

We mix the absinthe, but before we put in the water we dip the sugar cube in the alcohol in the glass, put it on the spoon and set it on fire. After it's caramellized a bit you dip the sugar spoon in the glass and you'll have a flame in your glass, it's very pretty and we usually turn off the lights once the fire comes into play. Its a very pretty blue flame. After a bit you mix in the ice cold water and put out the fire with it and it's ready to drink. It's a very eventful drink

This vid is already pretty much a placebo vid. The effects of absinthe are so exaggerated and misconstrued. It's nothing more than a good tasting booze, yet it made half these people go crazy after one shot? Wouldn't have happened if they told them it was something else
Absinthe, or 'The Green Fairy' as it is sometimes called, was hugely popular in France during the Belle Epoque (Late 1800s) particularly with the bohemians, writers and artists in Paris at the time. The common misconception that Absinthe causes hallucinations is mostly down to its associations with artists Vincent Van Gogh and Henri de Touleouse-Lautrec who helped to perpetuate the myth due to their rather strange and vivid depictions of life in their painting and works - not to mention their severe alcoholism (Henri de Touleouse-Lautrec is even credited for inventing the drink 'Le Earthquake' consisting of equal parts Absinthe and Cognac which he drunk during his bouts of depression). Claims regarding Absinthe's hallucinogenic properties in modern times have been utterly refuted, although cases where hallucinations were reported after consuming Absinthe during the 19th century are mostly down to poisonous ingredients added to cheap versions of the drink, including oil of wormwood and copper salts. Also there seems to be a placebo/psychosomatic element whereby people drink it assuming they'll experience hallucinogenic effects and thus interpret their inebriation in this way.
TheGroucho66 THANK YOU! well put. And the idea of Wormwood being hallucinogenic can be outright refuted by just looking at the plethora of spirits that are made from it.
Chewie Daniels Absinthe should be diluted with 3 to 5 parts water. Most pre-ban style absinthes were/are formulated to be drunk at that dilution, between 11% to 14%.
More Italian - Czech drinking drama: In Prague, 2002, last year of high school, had pure shots plus the flambe’ version with an absinthe drenched sugar cube set on fire inside a shot glass. You tap the glass with your palm, then slide it underneath a bit until it reaches your fingers. Then you spread them apart just a bit and take a full breath of those fumes and drink the rest. Ended up doing pole dance with my computer science teacher and another couple of friends. Then the whole class took a local bus back to the hotel. In the bus we realized one could remember where our stop was, and the only person who was able to communicate a bit in Czech was me. Made it safe as Absinthe speaks all languages. Amen.
Yes! That's exactly what I thought of. When he has the trippy dream about the turkey taking him on a trip that mimics "My Neighbor Totoro". The show is hilarious
in portugal we drink 57.5% alchool absinto shots on every party I once entered in a alcoholic coma because I drank 8 absinto shots. You may ask "how do you remember that they where 8? if you where that drunk" because a guy that I have never seen in my life (i thought) told me and then I went to the bar again and a lot of people told me the same exact story
Totally. It my be a slightly different drunk, but not tripping. And not as strong as they made it out. It is thought in old times it contained led, and that is what made people trip. Being slowly poisoned.
Insidious_void it tastes like pure turpentine lol. Me and my friends used to do it years ago for house parties and 4 disgusting shots later we would all be wasted.
reecejam same, my friend had just gotten back from spain and she had poured herself a pint of it and was handing it out to anyone that would take a gulp of it. no sips allowed.
I recently took a shot after downing several other drinks and shots, but there was half absinthe and half tequila. No sugar. I didn't even know that people do that in some places xD My friend threw up but I didn't notice any major changes in my level of intoxication, but I'm sure my liver did! Thank god I can hold my liquor. xD
Bingoliath i dont know. i know it lacks the original recipe's drug effects, but comparing the drunken effect between vodka pure and absinthe pure.. it IS different. why? i dont know, but it is very different. tho the upside is i tend not to have as much after sickness from absinthe..
old absinthe is so nice! the absinthe you can buy today have one ingredient less then the old version... good old absinthe, in germany some farmers has those old ones. its the good old wormwood thats missing.... good old "green fairy"
you can still get it with the wormwood in england i also distilled my own absinthe i found a very old recipe from back in day man that gets you wasted bad
That may be part of it but the wormwood which is the thing that causes hallucinations and the high is only in some absinthe mostly Europe also my boyfriend took like one shot of this and like died
It's strong. But that is also very important to notice and respect. Two shots of 6cl whisky and you are probably ok. Two shots of 6cl absinthe (68%,,,) you might say it's close to 4 shots of whisky 6cl times 38%.

"...izjjssh alcohol" I believe is what the lady said
"You people are crazy....but correct"
That's why they refer to alcohol as spirits! It's outside most liquors store you see.
I feel like that was a silent cry for help XD
You have to dilute it?! I've literally been doing shots of absinth for years and I never you had to dilute it! Goddamn!
Chewie Daniels Absinthe should be diluted with 3 to 5 parts water. Most pre-ban style absinthes were/are formulated to be drunk at that dilution, between 11% to 14%.
I never knew you had to dilute it. Just drink it straight from the bottle
Nae Nae well at least I know I'm not the only person who will die from alcohol poisoning from this
They sell it in shots here so that's how I thought you drank it too (England)
Chewie Daniels Well if you were in the right country everyone would tell you that haha
“I feel like I’ve deiscoverrd my reflection for the first time.. except there’s no mirror... just alcohol “ LMAO
shut up
The problem is... Zach and Keith are always like that 😂
true
Oh this glass-2017 Keith
meanwhile in germany I'm shaking my head. I know people who drink this pure.
Yep lmao
Günter TV well i thought you are supposed to drink it pure ?!
@@annelenz2674 you are, but americans don't get it
Drinking it pure/neat is a real man lol 😂
Just here to point out that out of the top 10 strongest alcohols America invented like 6 of them
More Italian - Czech drinking drama: In Prague, 2002, last year of high school, had pure shots plus the flambe’ version with an absinthe drenched sugar cube set on fire inside a shot glass. Amen.
This is their job... Just let that sink in.
Yes! I just posted something similar. I bet the turnover rate is 0. I mean how can you do any better than this? Lucky SOBs :)
+Lukeys Minion I can only imagine if one of them lost their job. The job market I think would be rather bare for them..
Is this what Bob drinks in that Thanksgiving episode of "Bob's Burgers?"
yes lol
Natalie1729 ahhh I love Bobs Burgers:D my fav
IT ISSS ❤️ that my fav show
Natalie1729 TWIN I found you!
Yes! That's exactly what I thought of. When he has the trippy dream about the turkey taking him on a trip that mimics "My Neighbor Totoro". The show is hilarious
"Oh my god, but I have work to do."
I died.
I'd like to try Absinthe. But don't feel like melting my face off today. Maybe on Christmas day.
@brdman Even better if the family reunion is on Christmas day!
@Johnnie Walker Good ol placebo in full effect I see
ABSENCE CAN MAKE YOUR HEART ACHE BUT DRINKING ABSINTHE CAN CHANGE YOUR MIND STATE.

Only here for Keith and Zach
Same
Do a video on "The most fit BuzzFeed employees try Navy SEAL BUDS training" in Coronado California.
+Kenneth Cruey lol
second that
I had to do something similar for Football at the base in Coronado this last summer and I almost died😂
THE TRY GUYS
Eugene would win
in portugal we drink 57.5% alchool absinto shots on every party I once entered in a alcoholic coma because I drank 8 absinto shots. You may ask "how do you remember that they where 8? if you where that drunk" because a guy that I have never seen in my life (i thought) told me and then I went to the bar again and a lot of people told me the same exact story
yha podes creer é bue fdd
african child eles bebem 3 shots e ficam todos fdds
Oh u r cute
Drinking absinth shots is barbaric
Absinto Rodnik's 85, se é para beber à tuga, é para beber com álcool a sério. À venda no El Corte Inglês.
it just makes you drunk! I DRINK IT ALL THE TIME AND I HAVE NEVER HALLUCINATED
Right. It's flavoured alcohol of the strong type
miaumiaumiau miau I've had absinthe and it was a nice high but didn't make me act like I was tripping. Everybody in the video was over reacting.
Totally. It my be a slightly different drunk, but not tripping. And not as strong as they made it out. It is thought in old times it contained led, and that is what made people trip. Being slowly poisoned.
It's because they were expecting it to have these unusual effects, like a placebo effect
You drink it all the time? Good luck to your liver ✌️
"You people are crazy...but correct" Thank you!!
It would have been awesome to see Eugene try that XD
probs already has
Now drink Absinthe without the added stuff!
Insidious_void it tastes like pure turpentine lol. Me and my friends used to do it years ago for house parties and 4 disgusting shots later we would all be wasted.
reecejam Exactly. xD
Insidious_void Thats what i was expecting them to drink it pure. And i was like that'd be way to strong for them to handle.
Insidious_void tbh, I disliked the smell more than the actual taste. Is that just me lol?
reecejam same, my friend had just gotten back from spain and she had poured herself a pint of it and was handing it out to anyone that would take a gulp of it. no sips allowed.
Did anyone else crack up at 332
"Oh this glass"
The last one was so funny for some reason lol
Tate Norvell yeah lol
3:57 is my mood for the rest of my life
You should try shots of absinthe
with or without the sugar? if no sugar then hell no haha
Bullpup Baggins without! Haha
i did some last saturday, and i can't remember half of the evening
I recently took a shot after downing several other drinks and shots, but there was half absinthe and half tequila. No sugar. I didn't even know that people do that in some places xD My friend threw up but I didn't notice any major changes in my level of intoxication, but I'm sure my liver did! Thank god I can hold my liquor. xD
No you really shouldn't.
ive been drinking the green absinthe straight this whole time instead of diluting it, FML.
+sal sanchez same...
+sal sanchez LOLOLOL
Does 60% whiskey count as well ???
If so
Guilty..
+sal sanchez they were supposed to burn it too....
mmmkeklol no you're not.
Omg Justin killed me, "My eyes are so... SMALL!"
"Crazy, but correct" is a good description of absinthe.
'What's happening to my eyes?!' You were born like that.
恵美 // Emi are we still saying SJW in 2017 though yikes
ZolaMagic25 lol
finally someone said it lol
About time someone said it
I was looking for that
Placebo effect 100%
True😂
They're drunk
+Bingoliath to a point yes. absnthe pure does have this fast working effect though. :)
ndaemon1718 But it doesn't make people high.
Bingoliath i dont know. i know it lacks the original recipe's drug effects, but comparing the drunken effect between vodka pure and absinthe pure.. it IS different. why? i dont know, but it is very different. tho the upside is i tend not to have as much after sickness from absinthe..
i love these guys they really just act like themselves and dont ever put on a funny persona or whatever. they are just naturally hilarious
3:31 This is why I love Zach and Kieth 😂
Keith and zach became the rich best friends and it was amazing have all the try guys locked in a room and drink absinthe
+Jen W yes I would love 2 see that
old absinthe is so nice! the absinthe you can buy today have one ingredient less then the old version... good old absinthe, in germany some farmers has those old ones. its the good old wormwood thats missing.... good old "green fairy"
you can still get it with the wormwood in england i also distilled my own absinthe i found a very old recipe from back in day man that gets you wasted bad
wow, i need to visit england
I've never reacted this way to Absinthe. It's quite lovely on occasion, actually.
+Chorrell Klaverweide well, everyone is different when drunk :). tho drinking absinthe pure and un-diluted can have a ver yfast effect on you :)
ndaemon1718 I've experienced that, yes. It was quite....interesting. :)
Chorrell Klaverweide yup.. my poor father drank a whole bottle of absinthe pure in one go.. eh.. he was very sick for a day or so haha :)
ndaemon1718 At least he survived it, without any further complications, by the sound of it.
ultradream eh, we nordic people are used to heavy drinking :). but yeah, that was surely pushing it haha .
Always gotta come back to watch this video the past 3 years😭😭
I just watched it again.
Ladies & Gentlemen: The Placebo Effect
HAHAHA yes dude yes
+Taylor Ford or bad acting
That may be part of it but the wormwood which is the thing that causes hallucinations and the high is only in some absinthe mostly Europe also my boyfriend took like one shot of this and like died
how old is your boy friend...
I feel like Keith would make an excellent housewife.
I'm laughing way too hard😂
You sir, I like you.
oH THIS GLAAAASS
HAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHA YES
trinalps WHEN HE SAID THAT I ACTUALLY CRIED A LIL BIT
Zack and Keith lol "Can we talk about this glass? Yesss this glass" damn. 😂😂😂
That absinthe is not hallucinogenic
Drink enough and you'll see
@@hamedmmk3589 It's my go to drink, and I'm a light weight and super sensitive to stuff. It's not hallucinogenic at all
If it has the grand wormwood in it, it could be
American absinthe can’t make you trip because wormwood is illegal here
@@potatertots2060 Yeahh America loves to legislate morality, but that doesn't mean you can't access...
Wait what. "A straw is just a urethra" what
lol
+Jamie Sly it's a correct medical term. if you say to a doctor your straw is itching he know's exactly what to do.
I got more confused at "if you're gonna drink this make sure to shave your pubes"
+Veneta Beqiri it means she knows she's gunna be take advantage of
+Skate4lifedgkyoloswag Oh thank you lmao
their reactions are a normal day for me, consequently, my friends think I'm constantly on drugs
Same...
+The Pixel Panda Same :L hahaha
+The Pixel Panda Thanks for that, can you tell us again?
same 😂😂😂
+Emmaline Weeks hahaha, lies :)
Zac and Keith don't seem any different XD
Why does the old Buzz feed crew give me the same nostalgic feelings as the SNL cast of ’06
when i had a absinthe, i felt light like a feather. the world was soft, but no, i was not hallucinating.
same, the colors seem more sharp
Raul Gomez thats like me when im fuckin Gorked.
colors getting sharper is a sign of high thujone content. where did you get that stuff +Raul Gomez
order it online.
Léa Racine you're french?:3
"There's no mirror, there's just alcohol"
Alcohol = Nature's mirror
+David Belcher Oooo I like that
+David Belcher Oooo I like that
Why don't they do one where they don't tell them anything...cuz this could be a placebo effect. 8D
I want this...
I am going to search and buy this..
oh god plz dont or at least dont drink too much xD
I'm pondering which bottle should I pick at the moment. Good grief, they are so expensive.
oh gosh how much? lol
It's strong. But that is also very important to notice and respect. Two shots of 6cl whisky and you are probably ok. Two shots of 6cl absinthe (68%,,,) you might say it's close to 4 shots of whisky 6cl times 38%.
