Yes, but she is not very familiar with asian foods. It doesn't matter about the race or ethnicity. I am Japanese and is used to eating natto, but if I did not eat natto in my childhood, I would think it's disgusting when I am an adult.

I don’t know, it’s just the concept of eating feet just grossed me out personally. Feet are what we walk on, and same for chickens. It just seems dirty to me, even though they’ve been wash it, after the chickens were killed. But y’all do you, and I’ll do me.

@@sophie4221 well they cleaned them before cooking them obviously. And in my place we cut the toenail. They taste like chewy bland chicken. Btw if you want to try it I advice you to soak the feet in ice water for a couple of minutes before cooking to make the skin loose.

Chicken feet are a bit common to in some Latin American countries. We use them for soup, which doesn't only give it a great taste, but it's really healthy, too. Great for colds and hangovers.

Durian is one of my favorite Asian foods. The smell is actually very very VERY pungent for those who are not used to it,, but it is very tasty because the pulp is very creamy and sweet. You can eat and drink it.

Lightweights all of them. I haven’t had straight durian, but durian mochi is pretty good. It has an odd buttery taste, and varies in smell from like a nursing home to like warm fruit in a garbage can (but much milder).
Natto is straight up delicious.
The only ones I’d be mildly concerned about trying are balut and sannakji only for fear of food poisoning.
If you think Natto is exotic, I don't think you understands the concept of famine food.

durian is an acquired taste! either ya hate it or ya love it. durian for me is so sweet and creamy and literally the best thing ever. as a malaysian I know friends and family members who hate it while the other half love it. I've also seen throngs and throngs of caucasian tourists waiting in queues at our many roadside durian stalls so yano. it's an acquired taste yall❤

Emmy the japanese/american youtuber made a nice video about how to actually enjoy some rare/exotic foods because it seems these people are not eating it correctly. Fermented soy bean I think she said is eaten in small amounts but as an addition to rice or rice congee, first add soy sauce abnd fish broth and mix until the gelly part is white then eat small amounts.

Normally your suppose to eat durian immediately after directly taken it from the fruit itself, and not pack it in plastic packages, and from what I know, durian was suppose to taste like sweet meat.
it will give off a very strong sour smell and taste overtime that even asians would not like, it will also become more dry and bland when kept in sealed packages for too long, making it tasteless or bad tasting with the smell, and what's more trapping all that smell in the sealed plastic would make it even worse.
but it's one of the few ways to transport durian all the way to america since the fruit is so spiky. I doubt americans in america would be able to enjoy durian properly, heck even in singapore too, since the fruits are also imported and package sealed.
Zack Tan Durian can be purchased here (in the U.S.) whole, from specialty markets. I froze it before eating it and it didn't smell bad to me...But, it didn't sit out long enough to completely thaw. It basically tasted like mushy sweet onions. ._.

Yeah, but even if there are such markets in america, I don't think it can easily found or easily known by people in general.
Besides, durians don't typically grow on western areas, transporting durians whole may make it's fruits fresher, but it's sour smell will still be quite strong then and it's not really productive and convenient in many ways. Therefore, a lot of the markets choose to pack the fruits in packages anyway.
Also freezing it would make it's fruit quite soft and bland even if it can take away the smell but it will taste mushy sweet as you said instead of being chewy like sweet meat. -_-

dak bal is really popular for korean with extremely paste sauce, for me it is the best part I've eaten on chicken.
I am asian but not so narrow minded. Like why you guys so offended by their reaction? I find it very funny. I lived in Indonesia and i called durian a gross fruit and no one feels offended. Like guys, they're americans! What do you expect them to do? That food was not common for them. It was a normal reaction for god sake!

Thank you!! I'm Indian, and the times that they try Indian food, I see so many comments from Indians who are like "they're so rude, Americans are so closed off blah blah blah" and it's like, I'm American as well, and so I've grown up with both cultures. It's like, people have different tastes.

its funny how people in this video act as if the durian smell is poisonous but in many asian countries the smell is like some sort of heavenly perfume that leads to great taste, but its probably down to how used they are to it
The one I want to try is Sannakji. I have not been in the presence of a durian. But as for stinky cheeses, most that I have tried taste good if you can get past the smell.

vivace reuben Durian is not a typical Chinese-only thing buddy. Many Asian countries have durian as a fruit and Thailand and Malaysia is EVEN MORE FAMOUS for Durian than China. I can understand that because of that strong smell, people either love or hate it with occasionally exception. But it is THE SAME everywhere even in China and I believe in many other Asian cultures as well. My dad is a 100% Chinese and yet he hates it but my mom and I just love it. CAN I ASK YOU AN HONOUR NOT TO HASTILY GENERALISE EATING HABITS BEFORE U REALLY GET TO KNOW CHINESE, and can I ask you an honour really not to phrase your sentence in this kind of unpleasant, ambiguous way? Oh please, I know you guys have loads of criticisms on China and while I only partially agree, I could still understand why you would think that and really respect your opinions. But dude, can we just not simply hate China for everything even for a harmless, not-even-really-major habit? It's down to personal preference really in this case rather than nationalities, I am afraid. Like I really can't get the point of eating hamburgers that often now but yet I can accept it. If you really don't like it, just don't eat it, no one will really say anything about that.

I love Chinese food a lot as well as some other Asian food. If you think I am overreacting, I am sorry. But I really hate people when they criticise my country for nonsense, where I think great progress has been made and is still being made.
