In one of the biggest surprises of the Championships, a late charge by Ehtiopia's unheralded Ibrahim Jelian takes him to victory over Mo Farah of Great Britain.
Everyone talking about how the guy didn't win instead of how amazing the guy is who won.

All the attention on Mo Farah. I feel sorry for the winner, what terrible commentary
I never supported him. He shouldn't have changed citizenship. He sold his soul
It’s the English broadcast and he’s from England this is a world event so the Kenyans would have been covered by a different program
@@juliemoise5795 what? Stfu he can do whatever he wants
@@juliemoise5795 Citizenship is one of the worst metrics to determine loyalty. In my country, many citizens just drink , gamble and while away their life while destroying public property. Foreign people of my country on the other hand send in precious dollars and provide a leg for the economy.
Not everyone is like that, of course, but I would rather choose a contributing foreigner than a local good-for-nothing citizen.

In this race I think it's the other way round

'
Nobody knows anything about 10.000m racing, so they pick the one athlete they know and ride on it. In the 2016 olympics the brazilian narrator did the same thing with Mo Farah, and why? Same reason. They should get a retired athlete to help, but usually don't. It's worse in the winter olympics.
One of the commentators is Dave Moorcraft former 10k WR holder! You are more biased than the commentators. 😂
@@neillgowans4350 still, crappy commentary.
What u on about obviously they’re biased cos he’s English in every country is the same
Not quite, its also tv reasons, Mo Farah is the headline win and the favorite. Same way they do it for bolt. Which can also get annoying at times but i understand why. And most people watch from Farah's or bolt's perspective
As an Ethiopian even after 9 years my eyes got full of tears everytime i see this video😍😍😍

As an African, me too. Buy then again, Mo Farrah, Sifan Hassan, and now Athing Mu and many first and latter bgenerations in their adopted countries must evoke some excitement of a connection kind, me thinks. Superb achievement from the likes of Karsten Warholm and Rai Benjamin in the men's400 meters hurdles this year as does the rivalry between Sidney McLoughlin Delilah Mohammed in setting new world records.
@@eldonbrand I agree but most of time the Kenyans and Ethiopians win over the other Africans that run for European or America. Only sifan hassan this year cause there wasn't really a good Ethiopia or Kenyan in the 5000m and 10,000m. I really expected Helen obiri
Correct me if I'm wrong... Why is nobody talking about that dude who the winner overtook in the end, he (the winner) was ahead of him by over a lap, wow!!
I was surprised too
I think he was behind by a lap
Sam Fielder yes that’s what he means, he was a lap ahead whilst winning

well this was 8 years ago so...
Jeilan was such a random runner. Came out of nowhere in 2011 then 2013 did still well but after that I didn't hear anything about him until 2016 and now again haven't heard about him in ages
Well Ethiopia (and Kenya) are long-distance running factories...
@@siddharthmishra48 Yea, I've heard that some Kenyans and Ethiopians are genetically better at running. I don't know if it's true, but it's crazy how fast they are and for how long they can run!

One of the greatest races I've ever seen, and most likely one of the greatest comebacks of all time.
Yes I agree that was unbelievable comeback in 10 000m race the will and determination is just priceless
The Ethiopian runner comeback should be hailed as the greatest comeback that was si amazing. Those East Africans have serious stamina can never get tired of watching
The video title should be dedicated to that brave Ethiopian guy he did an amazing job and a shown a great performance
Yeah but this video is from the British commentators perspective so of course they are going to be talking about the British competitor
Brave? Bruh he runnin round a track.
“And he’ll have to settle for silver.”
IN THE OLYMPICS. Relax man.
True, but he did have gold in his hands
Honestly silver IS a disappointment for him
This was the 2011 Athletic World Championships in Daegu; not The Olympics
First of all, this is a diamond league meeting. Secondly, if you can have gold, silver is never enough
My guy it’s 9yo
The commentator said "That is what he has been practicing for " lol
@R15 Rider well hey this guy is like 30 or something and is an fking legend

People just want to hate I guess. Or if I'm not to judge, people hear English and think "international" and not specifically the U.K.
True but they do need to commentate a teeny bit better
I don’t think they realize this is a British channel. Maybe they think these are just the official event commentators. Even with this being a British channel, the amount the talked about Farrah and only him was still a bit excessive
Greatest comeback I have ever seen! Never give up!
The perseverance of jelan. U made mama ETHIOPIA proud.💪💪💪
This was so intense. Gosh I wish they’d talk about the man who won. That is phenomenal. The mental discipline here is just amazing.
Wow the Ethiopian athlete who won gold was amazing 👍🏾👍🏾
The best come from behind I've ever seen. Simply amazing.
That dude overtaken at the end... having to run one whole lap while the winners are celebrating and in the showers
Yeah but in the grand scheme of things he is a winner. Like the very last place finisher in PGA golf. They might be 400th out of 400 in PGA list but Of all the billions who have swung a golf club they are in the top fraction of a fraction of a %.
Still can call themselves an Olympian, and probably the best in their country, crazy really
In 2023, still goosebumps everywhere and tears. Ibro's never-give-up attitude makes my eyes full of tears, and my back still hurts from a lot of excitement.
Btw, Mo Farah has the time of number 23 among all-time runners. Kennenisa Time is still number 2. I just want to say Mo Farah was winning because he never had a good competitor from our side or our neighbor's side. That is a fact.
Imagine running sub-30 9600m and then a 53 second 400m.. Truly incredible what these men can do!

I gotta give Jeilan some credit. I was watching the whole race on TV and at the startline Jeilan was jumping all the time and raise his arms and said something, before the race were even started.., Clearly to see that Jeilan really wanted this title. Now he has been the World Junior Champion and now he is also the World Champion. The Man who wanted the most won today. Amazing!Mo Farah sprinted all he could to get away, but Jeilan just didnt wanted to give up.! Jeilan 52 sec last lap. UNREAL.!!!
What he said in the beginning of the race was exactly what he said at the end of the race ALLAH AKBAR. God is great
HOLY MACKEREL!!😰 Despite the title, I was not expecting THAT; never saw this before! WOW! THAT was EXCITING!😃
I hope people realise the winner (Jeilan) and Farah isn't "kissing the track" they are making sujood (prostrating or bowing) to God and most likely thanking him for their achievements. Which I find amazing!
When I'm tired I watch this video for inspire
Masha Allah jeilan you was amazing! Great ethiopia!
If anyone is stupid/not educated like 90% of the commenters here, the reason the focus is on Mo Farrah is because this is uploaded by a British TV channel, the commentary is done by British people for British audiences, this UA-cam channel is from the British TV channel and Mo Farrah is a British athlete.
The more you know 🤦♂️

Well said bro,It's always been either of us,
How the hell is it possible for someone to run the 10k with a 26:17
Yup, 26:17 WR by the legend Kenenisa Bekele will take years to break and kinda puts this race time in perspective. Yet the media will have you believe Farrah is something special lol. And in case anyone wonders if it was a one off fluke, Bekele has also done 26:20, 26:25, 26:28. The top 4 out of 6 fastest 10,000 meters of all time belong to him.
porksniffer I'm happy with my 37 minute 10k haha. I mean sub 30 would be nice too xD
porksniffer Mo Farah needs to run times... Kenenisa Bekele although got those times in the Meets with pacemakers designed to run fast times rather than in the championship- which is tactical normally until the last km where they up the pace nowadays
