Hello, I just turned 60 and I’ve been searching 45 years to know what I have. I just discovered this a few weeks ago, I didn’t cry but jumped for joy because I finally understand and still don’t understand what this is. I thought I was deformed, it cost my marriages, never going bathing, dressing out in bathrooms, shy, ashamed, etc…. I’m at 160 lbs but always had the toughest time loosing weight. My legs are so ugly, my butt is big and my skin looks like it’s hanging, full of hail damage, as I call it. Thank you for helping me feel like I’m not alone, there is hope for all of us who suffer with this condition. 🙏🏻💖

I remember when my mother unfortunately passed away, her body had gotten so thin from her disease, but her arms and thighs were still huge. When I first learned about lipedma, that was the first image that came to mind. The top of my arms and thighs NEVER thin out, and I'm so grateful for all the information starting to become available

WOW!!! Very impressive information all in one place!!! This is exactly what I need right now! I recently went to a free vein check clinic and asked evaluator if I could possibly also have one of the fat disorders. She said she didn’t think so but the person who was going to fit me for my compression could evaluate me for it. I made the appointment and have went just one time and seeing her has completely opened doors to discovery of more health issues I’ve been having. She suspects I have lipedema but isn’t for sure as yet. She did one lymphatic massage on one leg and next appt will have full massage and then be wrapped. Going to go twice a week for starters. After I have worn compression awhile vein clinic is sending me for a leg ultrasound to check the veins. Massage therapist said I will know everything I need to know about my leg conditions after the ultrasound. I am eating up all the information I can find! I am happy and excited that someone is listening to me no trying to help me. I feel God is really blessing me through this. I have a torn minicus and damage to same leg knee cap so now what I am pondering is if while starting this massage/wrapping/compression if I could also go ahead and see my orthopedic concerning my extremely painful knee. I cannot kneel on it due to the pain and yard work season is upon us! One of my passions for exercise. My ortho dr more then likely is not knowledgeable on fat disorders and surgery. I would love to be a part of a face to face support group that involved someone knowledgeable on lipidema. I am 64 years old and my body changed began with fibrocystic breast disease in my early twenties. I used to have problems GAINING a weight as had a fast metabolism and was always extremely thin. What a change. Looking for family involvement and had an aunt who had fat issues plus in immense pain. Also my maternal grandmother who was also a diabetic. In her last days she suffered miserably with huge legs. The word needs to get around about such conditions so people can get help. In my late thirties I asked my PC why I had nodules under my arms. She did all kinds of labs finding nothing more then high cholesterol and dismissed it after that. I now have nodules in my legs that are very painful to the touch. Thank you ladies for all you have done and gone through in bringing this information forward and to the light. May the good Lord continue to bless you and strengthen you as you work to support and inform all of the Lippy Ladies!!! 🦋

Thank you. I'm just learning what's wrong with my legs. I'm so embarrassed by them. I don't wear shorts and I live in Florida. I won't date. I've been single for a long time. I use to have nice legs and butt when I was younger but I do recall they were thicker than the rest of me. I've always had hormonal issues. My legs are heavy and thick and it's getting harder and harder to walk. I bought a mini trampoline to help me move since I haven't exercised in quite awhile since my knees and ankles go out on me. Hopefully the trampoline will help. I just put it up. If not, I'll be looking into liposuction. Hopefully my doctor will be on board. Good luck to all.

I have type 2 diabetes and am on Mounjaro and am starting to lose weight which is helping, too. Thanks so much ladies for this video! So helpful! I read the title and started screaming "Where?" I am in agony and believe all people deserve to feel beautiful and should be able to move freely. Pain free is how we ought to be!
Lipoedema is curable with fat removal. Why are American doctors not doing this? 😒
In high school I had a 24" waist and a 36" butt... Now I am significantly larger.. My thighs are huge and heavy, and so are my upper arms. I am in daily pain.
NO ONE SHOULD EVER GET TO STAGE 3 MUCH LESS STAGE 4! In China you pay your doctor when your well... not when you need an intervention.
Why are we not more aware of this disease? It was first mentioned in the 40's. Doctors should not be considered doctors if they ignore the Lymphatic system and know nothing about it... Sorry, just a bit bitter!

Lipedema is NOT curable. Fat "removal" surgery is mostly only cosmetic and has side effects like INCREASED edema from fluid. You can literally give yourself lymphedema on top of the lipedema you already had. Lymphedema is already a complication of late-stage lipedema, but why rush to get sicker?

    • @ladylove1
      @ladylove1 2 роки тому

@@robinlillian9471 Certainly. With each surgery, the risk of lymph damage increases. The aggressive suction of liposuction doesn't seem helpful.

Thank you so much for all of this. I have lymph swelling on both legs and now wear foot to knee Velcro bandages and am walking and have lost 13 K I now weigh 60k but still feel so heavy and so so so sore after walking. I am doing the breathing. Also my skin on my legs is like a snake and rough. If I exfoliate my legs bleed. If I brush my legs bleed. I have now found a nourishing crème and am using it twice a day and if I miss out one session the roughness comes back. I have had here TIA a with falls causing concussion. I have a monitor in my heart now to check on me. Oh well I try my best but just do not know where to find this type of help here in Israel. I do go to a therapist and she is great. I am now trying to get into a swimming program with a physiotherapist. I am trying to find out about those pumps and am looking for my lymph at age massage on my legs. I do do very light drainage with my hands twice a day. My legs don’t look anything these women you have shown TG but just don’t want to get worse. I also have fibromyalgia. Just lying here with my legs raised filled with hope to find all the help I need.

When I was 8 years old, I had to do a school physical. The doctor said, "Boy! For a skinny girl you sure have fat legs!" I will never forget what he cruelly said. No one helped with it my whole life. I was very active, and rode horses alot. I had to have special boots made with triple wide calves. 😭
I know about it. I have it. Everybody gives info on everything except how to treat it! Even my doctor is super demeaning and does not treat it! I am so frustrated! I can barely walk. I am 72 years old. They all say I'm just fat and need to lose weight, or do more exercise. My legs got super bad so quickly when I quit smoking, after losing 75 lbs. on Keto four years ago. Now my legs are blowing up and nothing I do helps! It's getting more and more difficult to walk the 2-5 miles I used to walk three x a week or more. I use a walker now for a bad back too. Old age is no excuse! Why is so little known about this disease, and why can't doctors help??? 😡

And after confirming everything was fine on that regard, he informed me on the diagnosis and kindly told me to lose my extra weight (which was 40-45 lbs from my starting weight) at my own pace for us to see how much of the fat was irregularly restored and we could talk about next steps (I guess he meant liposuction)

You’re so confidently and horribly misinformed, it’s hilarious ngl. Lipedema fat tissue is quite literally impossible to lose. The body is unable to access the disordered fat cells and break them down due to it also being a connective tissue disorder where the said tissue is too loose. You can reduce the swelling and fluid retention that comes with it (which can be a lot of what’s visible) and prevent the progression of the disease but it’s currently incurable and can only be ridden off by liposuction

I tend to be a medical talk junkie. If it had not been for a video regarding lipedema popping up on my feed, I would have still been questioning key componants the medical community has ignored in my mother for over 70 years.
She was the only obese child in her family. She has had the classic bat wings, heavy thighs, cuffs, connective tissue and chronic pain her entire life.
She never brought sugary foods in our home. She remainrd obese on the so called health foods doctors & health associations told her to eat.
Wheat breads, Shred of Wheat, oatmeal & a banana. She loved her veggies, she walked, she swam & she could never get below 250.
I now know this is also my story & can see it in my slim daughter & her hypermobility daughter. My son also carries the Marfan gene, a connective tissue issue.
I found out over a decade ago how healing removing grains, seed oils pufas, sugars, etc., could be. Yet, those foods are still touted as health foods😢
Keto saved my life a long time ago. If I would have listened to doctors then, I probably wouldn't have made it this far.
Thankfully, one of the top Lipedema specialists happens to be less than an hour away.
    Now to start this journey❤
