    We started using generations this school year cuz of your recommendation. You talk about it all the time and I looked into it thoroughly. I love especially their history and Christian literature stuff. I was looking into history for grade 1 and most curriculum companies don't really do history at that level but if they do its more like "social studies". I like that its very biblical and everything points to God (not just a few verses added here and there).
    Best thing is that most if not all their curriculum/books have pdf or e-reader versions. It helps cuz shipping to Canada (even through the Canadian site) is expensive. The colors are super pretty in the textbooks so we just read from my tablet.

    I want to thank you for pointing me toward this company. Right after I watched your first video of this curriculum, I immediately bought the first grade history, The Story of Jesus' People, and the reading /Bible curriculum, God's Big Story 1. I couldn't be happier. When you announced their 50% off sale, I bought the 2nd grade set as well. The books are BEAUTIFUL and very high quality. My daughter is learning so much, and she is enjoying the coordinating workbooks. I really had a hard time keeping myself from buying all the elementary levels. The next sale, I would like to pick up some books for myself.

    I love Generations 🥰 I just wish I found it earlier for the 2 I graduated. My daughter that graduated last year is reading all the high school books that my others are doing. I ordered all the science and history through Generations and the next sale I'll be getting more 😁 We will be using this for many years. 11 kiddoss I still have to homeschool, youngest is 18 months and oldest is 17. I wish they had a math but for now we're using Khan Academy cuz they're free. We used TGATB but it was just too fluffy for my kids and I wanted something more solid in biblical doctrine. I sold all the history and science from the TGATB and then Generations had the 50% sale. I took that as a sign from God 😊

    • @mandy-maltz
      @mandy-maltz  Рік тому +1

      It was way too fluffy for me too, plus the Biblical issue. I didn't use them but for 3 months one year and I was done 🤣

      Masterbooks has a good math program with Biblical/story lessons. My kids have enjoyed them. We have enjoyed them because:
      1. My one kids likes to sit down and have storytime with me ( he is six)
      2. The worksheets are not crowded with a ton of problems
      3. It is not overwhelming (due to the above)
      4. The solid Bible/moral focus
      I have heard critics say they are a grade level behind, etc. in their math. I have not found this to be the case. But, I am also an advocate of starting later not earlier so 🤷

    How does their history works? Like is it all world/ancient history to early and American history? I’m confused at how they had set it up. Next question! Science, do the lessons include experiments or hands on activities? I was settling on apologia because you can purchased the corresponding kits. I know for fact that without a kit experiments aren’t happening with me😕 What did you thought about the reading comprehension exercises? Even if I don’t do a complete package I’ll be interested in the reading set and read aloud for 4th grade. Thank you!

    Looking for literature for my daughter in the next year or two as she gets into middle school - do you use Teaching the Classics as well as Generations Literature? Did your children get overwhelmed at all by the amount of reading for each subject. Id love to hear their ages and how you are doing each subject. Does your child read out loud. Do you read most to them? Also, how did you choose the order of literature reading. Im not seeing a guide for that. I Bought this to start 4th grade the upcoming fall.

      @@jenniferdecker4288 my kids are 10, 5, 3, and 1 ... we are only using History from Generations this year. I went with the grade 4 to start because we are also learning about missionaries this year (reading YWAM books) and a lot of them went to Asia. I read the lessons out loud during our Table Time (like morning basket) while my kids play with Playdoh or color. I try to take the Charlotte Mason approach to short, sweet lessons and not try to drag it out too long. We can get through about half a chapter of history each time amongst the other subjects we do together. The history really holds my kids interest. It’s written in a very engaging way. And they love the beautiful pictures!
      I don’t know about the literature course since we haven’t done that yet, though I do really want to incorporate that next year. Unfortunately not many people have reviews of Generations on UA-cam so it’s hard to know how others use that course.
