I’ve tried your recipe and three other UA-camrs baked mac recipe each year for the past 4 years. Your recipe is the clear winner according to my family.
I'd never baked macaroni and cheese in my life, until I used your recipe. I grew up without an oven in the house, and my mother never cooked/baked for me. My granny said that it was the best macaroni and cheese she'd ever had! From the girl who's only had access to an oven for less than a decade, and no person to show her in the family! Thank you! Oh, and I'm baking it right now, again!
I disagree with using the preshredded cheese. I honestly don't detect a difference. Shredding cheese is labor intensive and I don't think it's necessary. I've been the resident mac and cheese maker of my family for over twenty years. I've shredded the cheese three or four times because the recipes stressed it because of the coating. Even with the coating, adding it to a hot mixture of butter, milk and Velveeta, it MELTS. I have to make multiple pans because the family eats and then want leftovers to take home. I also disagree with the idea of adding oil to the pasta water. After pouring the cheese sauce over drained pasta, there isn't an option for it to stick or not. It's literally baked together.
Then why are you watching this video? You already have your own mind set that yours is perfect and you can't use any educational value from her. . .😮@mzche1999

Ooh, I really appreciate the tip about the oil. I usually put oil in my water when boiling fettuccine or spaghetti noodles to keep them from clumping and to keep my water from boiling over. But the sauce I use on those is usually pretty slick itself so I didn't correlate the oil making the noodles too slick. I'm glad you said that before I went ahead and added oil to my macaroni noodles and end up clueless as to why my cheese wouldn't stick! Happy holidays, cheers!

I have ALWAYS added oil to my water and when I heard u say “never add oil cuz sauce won’t stick” I thought, “well, duh, that makes such sense and I have been doing it all this time, and y? Becuz my mom did. lol. Thanks for the tip, my oil days are done.
thenextbest790 and I have always done that also becuz that’s how i was taught but it does make sense that the oil would make the pasta slippery. It reminds me of a story that I heard about a lady that was making roast for her family for dinner and she seasoned it, cut the 2 ends off and put it in the pan the way she has done it a hundred times. When she was talking to her mom she said to her “mom, I made roast tonight and I wanted to ask u, why do we cut the ends off the roast before we cook it?” And the mom replied “idk y u do it but I did it becuz it didn’t fit into the pan.” It just shows how we can do something becuz it’s how we have seen it done and not becuz it’s a better way, so maybe the oil can be left out. I just remember that it’s supposed to make speghetti not clump together, which makes sense also. There is more then one “right way” to make pasta I guess. 😊
To keep pasta from sticking together: Save 1/2 cup of the starchy pasta water. Drain pasta. Put cooked pasta in serving dish or pot. Then stir in a pat of butter with the starchy pasta water. You will have pasta that is easy to serve - without clumping.
@Tasha Brown that's exactly what I was going to say. Thanks for the no oil advice🤗 It's so very logical now🤔 "Dont add oil to pasta because the ingredients don't stick as well. Cooking is a science"🤔🤔🤔
Girl!! My mom uses the same exact ingredient, especially the Velveeta and evaporated milk. And like you said people flock to her Mac and cheese, she makes it every time she has some gathering at her house.
I get the feeling that when I make this it will be my ONLY go-to mac and cheese. I really appreciate that you explain this recipe and list the recipe in the description box. Great job 👍👍👍👍👍 TFS
I tried this yesterday, it was the best I ever made! I made small changes, I mixed carnation milk and whole milk to lighten up that carnation flavor. I didn't boil my pasta all the way because baking it will cook it more. I'm using this method from now on
did it make it dry.. i always thought if you didnty cook it till its a little over cooked it would soak up all the wet and make it to dry.. let me know.

I made this today and I’m so thankful I decided to go with this recipe. I was looking for something simple yet delicious and this was perfect. I def recommend this for those that like Mac n cheese but that’s not too cheesy with the million different cheeses. Def gonna make this again in the future!
Looks delicious 😋. I can’t wait to try this recipe. I’ll probably be making this for Thanksgiving dinner this year. She’s right about the shredded cheese having a coating on it to keep it from sticking together and lasting longer. That’s why for years now, I’ve been buying the block cheese and grating it myself. It taste so much better and melts quicker than shredded. And it doesn’t take that much longer to grate it.
One tip on covering your pan with foil. Be sure to spray the foil with cooking spray before putting that side down on your casserole dish. It keeps the cheese from sticking to the foil when you remove it. I’m making this for an upcoming birthday dinner this weekend. Thanks for sharing!!! ❤️
This is among the BEST presentations I have ever watched! I looked at several videos and this recipe is the one I'm going with. I particularly like the roux idea. THANKS!

I would love to try your recipe as I am not a fan of velveeta either, do you use the entire pint of sour cream? How man eggs and is there a certain brand of mild/sharp cheddar cheese you recommend?
@@blanko221 If I’m making 32ozs, I use a whole pint of sour cream, a can of carnation milk, 1 stick of real butter and 3 eggs. I use any brand of cheese as long as it’s a block. And I shred it.

@@thenextbest790 y'all are just so cute. I've never heard of this!
@ try it girl...😃
thenextbest790 and I have always done that also becuz that’s how i was taught but it does make sense that the oil would make the pasta slippery. 😊
I'm a single divorced fellow who was drafted to make the mac-n-cheese for Thanksgiving. This looks like a Bingo. Thank you.
You boutta show out ☺💃 1🖤
flysubcompact how did it come out
@@MzTeeL My cheese sauce was not quite wet enough, so the finished product was a little dry. Folks are it though and not deaths. :)
@@flysubcompact if they let you have a next time. Stovetop Kisses got the best Mac recipe.
flysubcompact lol that’s good. 😂😩
Thanks for the NO OIL while boiling pasta tip!! Never thought of that❤
To keep pasta from sticking together: Save 1/2 cup of the starchy pasta water.
That was an amazing tip! I definitely caught that!
I didn't know people added oil to their pasta water.
@@jonjoe89 The boiling water so many people add a small amout during boiling. 👌🏿
I appreciate this love happy holiday's queen, peace, love & blessings to you & yours! 💞💞
When its Thanksgiving time and you trying to find the best Mac n cheese so your family can say how bomb you are 😉
Same sis.. same

Same lol
Girl!! My mom uses the same exact ingredient, especially the Velveeta and evaporated milk. And like you said people flock to her Mac and cheese, she makes it every time she has some gathering at her house.
Have used velveeta in it for many years
Question for you! First time making mac n cheese, do i use the entire block of Velveeta????
I use the whole block. I cut it into small cubes to melt
While at work (haven't had lunch) browsing food videos and this one just made my tummy grumble! This is everything! I need this in my life LOL
I made it last year. I’m coming back again today because I’m making it for thanksgiving dinner tomorrow. Much love to you queen ❤
I used this recipe the other day, and it was absolutely the best Mac and cheese I’ve ever made. I’m doing it again for Christmas dinner.
Anyone else regretting watching this on an empty stomach...

I get the feeling that when I make this it will be my ONLY go-to mac and cheese. I really appreciate that you explain this recipe and list the recipe in the description box. Great job 👍👍👍👍👍 TFS
I've been using your recipe for past few years... you've definitely helped me today this THANKSGIVING. I owe it all to you. Thank you ❤️
I tried this yesterday, it was the best I ever made! I made small changes, I mixed carnation milk and whole milk to lighten up that carnation flavor. I didn't boil my pasta all the way because baking it will cook it more. I'm using this method from now on
Cause carnatin milk taste a lol foul to me.I like that u mixed it
did it make it dry.. i always thought if you didnty cook it till its a little over cooked it would soak up all the wet and make it to dry.. let me know.
I'm going to try the mix with whole milk. I didn't enjoy the carnation flavor coming through.
I made this last year for thanksgiving and everyone was in love with it! Thank you so much for this simple yet tasty recipe.
I tried dis recipe & it is da best mac&cheese I ever made My family think my recipe is good dis is better hands down my kids LOVE IT!!! THANK YOU SOOO MUCH FOR SHARING ☺☺☺
I’ve tried so many Mac and cheese recipes! My mother always used evaporated in her mac n cheese. I tried half n half etc. Evaporated milk is the BEST!!
I think thats to rich, that's probably why i never like it in the caribbean shops. it always looks good, but taste horrible. im sorry, but that looks sickening
She says she's from the Caribbean, but that's good old Black American, "Southern Soul Food!! LOOKS DELICIOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Who's ready to show off their cooking skills for Thanksgiving and Christmas this year.
THANKS!
everyone is here for thanksgiving, i just really want mac and cheese right now

Hey I’ve been using your recipe for a year now and when I tell you it’s a game changer. I never made Mac and cheese before and decided to look at this video and I have been making it bomb every since. Thank you!

I’ve been baking Mac and cheese for years. My recipe is very similar. I use eggs and a pint of sour cream along with a combination of mild and sharp cheddar cheese. I’m not a fan of velveeta cheese except when making rotel dip! Lol…. Looks great!
@@kerrib1000 okay, I’m definitely going to try it this way. Thanks for sharing and responding 🥰
I made this last year and it was a HIT! Back again for 2023.
And 2024!
Oh my golly! It looks delicious! I’d add in paprika, just because I don’t have a clue what that stuff she used even is.
Hi you can buy the Annette in the Spanish section at your grocery.
Store it is not expensive and it comes in a orange box
Good luck with it. I use it on my chicken. Homemade soups.

I plan on just using the paprika because I've already got some in the pantry & I don't know what the coloring stuff is either 😅
@@joelove1987 Anatto is a plant that grows in the carribean an Mexico they come in little packages on the spice shelves like blackpepper you can add 1 table spoon to 1 half cup of oil heat it on a low heat for 10 minutes and the colour is a rich golden colour. The computer will give you more information. I heard a dr saying that Velveeta is junk food he said it is not even cheese, so I have to check it out on the comp
“We use our hands to measure.”
