Ive never seen anyone shoot themselves in the foot like Blizz did, this is the best thing they ever copied from private servers AND they still managed to mess it up. They had no plan after phase 1 and it shows. RIP

20 man raids killed the game for me
It feels like the dev team has just lost the inspiration they once had at the beginning of SoD, it shows. Ever since they were tapped to focus on Cata, SoD has been put on the back burner where quality is concerned.

I’m really confused about the onyxia thing. They keep saying 40 man but adjusted for fewer as well. If this means like a flex raid difficulty scaling, that’s just dumb. Onyxia 40m was difficulty was already killablr with a 5-10m raid in molten core gear. And now we have runes and do 3x the dmg of a lvl 60 at lvl 50.
Ony and MC are 20 mans. The instanced world bosses are killable by a 20 man but you can take up to 40 people. That’s the way they are giving players an option to run 40 mans.
as long as shadow priest does more damage than the tanks in phase 4
I recommend changing the sound of the hammer of righteous to that of a wet noodle, as the damage it deals no longer deserves such an epic sound.

I hope you guys who are complaining non stop do realize they put this out AS A PTR in order to receive feedback and adjust things as time goes on. The last two phases launch were plagued with people abusing broken systems that weren’t able to be tested properly. Just give it a chance the game is going to be fun, 20 man raids are WAY more accessible than 40 man’s, there’s a bunch of dungeons to run for good gear, a new event, ony, MC, and world bosses available for raiding.
It’s not been perfect but what version of wow was? Vanilla was plagued with multiple issues and it’s the best version of the game IMO.
Honestly, SOD had and still could have, so much potential. The issue is SOD is donkey right now and I have little to no hope they will do what is right. They could start by reducing the damage of the rune abilities to be more in line with what classic would actually be. That would likely fix everything wrong with pvp as well.

Thoughts on Melee Hunter on Day 1 of PTR:
Hard to judge how good/bad it is, because you can’t summon a pet, Wyvern Strike doesn’t refresh with Chimera, Raptor Fury doesn't go past 1 stack for some reason, and there are MM trap issues as well. Please fix these so we can give it a try.
1) The Lone Wolf vs Pet problem is still there. You now have to choose between lone wolf and cobra slayer for example. So, the melee hunter will always have to have a pet, no matter what? Why? What if I want to do STV event? Am I going to have to rez/heal my pet every death?
This may be controversial - but why not simply add carve, chimera shot and explosive shot as regular hunter abilities and just add them all under the same CD. Why can’t a range hunter have both chimera shot and explosive shot at the same time? As long as they’re on the same CD, there’s no need to disallow it. Same with carve. Just let me carve when I’m doing AOE, without the whole ordeal of switching runes etc. I think the solution should be to make chimera shot, explosive shot and carve regular hunter abilities (all on the same cooldown), and then turn the hand rune into a choice between Beast Mastery and Lone Wolf (balancing them of course). This way, every hunter, regardless of playstyle/spec can choose between playing with or without a pet. I understand the math here would be tricky, but the way it is currently feels really silly. I don’t want to switch gloves every time I see 3 or more mobs running towards my raid.
2) Wyvern Strike doesn’t feel very powerful, which is ok, but I still feel a debuff should be applied to the boss in addition to the poison (or instead of if you feel I’m being too greedy). As things stand now, every single guild will insist that the hunters go ranged for Trueshot aura. If Melee Hunter is going to be a thing, it can’t just be a weaker Warrior. Then people will just take warriors.
3) Killshot should be a learned ability, not a rune. Ranged need sniper training and melee flanking strike. Unless you guys intended for KS to be a PVP ability? As things stand, flanking strike and sniper training can be deleted. No one will be taking them.
4) The range weaving with chimera shot feels very fun so far, except the refresh mechanic on wyvern sting doesn’t work. Please fix. Also, by running Chimera on the hands rune, it means we can't run carve, so no AOE ability at all. Meanwhile rogues are topping 2 DPS with their new blunderbuss rune on AOE fights. PLEASE give us explosive trap and carve just as abilities guys!!!!
5) Survival is supposed to the trap masters, not MM. Give us a talent that give us snake trap? And maybe the snakes act like homunculi? Wildfire bombs could be possible too. But we need SOMETHING that tells every raid lead “I need at least 1 survival hunter”.
6) Finally, the idea of an “aspect” is core to the entire theme of the Hunter and melee hunters don’t currently have one. Please create an aspect for Melee Hunter that compliments our spec. Monkey is for tanking and Hawk is for MM. One idea here could be to give Melee Hunters “Aspect of the Tiger”, which gives us and our parties (but not raids) the same 3% crit that feral druids give their parties (making sure that the two don’t stack, of course). This will will give us some much desired raid utility, and also allow Feral (cat) druids to play the Omen of Clarity build whenever they group with a melee Hunter, which I know will make them very happy. :slight_smile:
Conclusion: My main concern is that in order to justify bringing a deep Survival hunter (which, according to Aggrend on X, was the goal) you need to add a raid buff/debuff/utility. I would argue that if I cannot bring my melee hunter to raid without it being considered a “meme” then the development of the class has failed. Please give us ONE raid utility.
*** 1) My testing shows that Wyvern Strike 2H lags behind at LEAST 100dps (it’s more I think) than the dual wield Beast Mastery spec. Without some serious raid utility, no one would take a Survival hunter into raid.
It also appears that with chimera shot being required for Wyvern Strike, and with a 2H weapon you see a lot fewer attacks dodged (for mongoose bite), lone wolf will be the chest rune of choice for survival. Which means that the set bonus for the newly revamped Tier 1 Giantstalker melee set would be completely useless. You guys are on to something here, but it still needs a lot of refinement.
I mean one rune being hit is just so inspirational 😂. The devs really worked hard on phase 4.

Not gonna lie both SoD 4 and Cata are horrible. They totally dropped the ball with releasing Cata, and it shows as it seems like they totally lost the touch with SoD and its playerbase.

Cataclysm is not horrible, but Cataclysm killed a lot of specs, because of 10 man raids. For example, if you wanna play with DPS warrior the only option you have is to play with Arms. I always wanted to have good fury warrior on cata, because i played Arms warrior a lot of times back in days and even on private servers, so i leveled fury warrior to 85 on Cataclysm classic, But with fury spec could not even get raid spot in Baradin Hold man. So in 10 man raids, you only pick 1 class in raid and all raid leaders DEMAND the spec that does most dps, not the one that you like. Fury warrior does pretty decent dps if you have caps, but Raid Leaders doesn't care, they DEMAND you to play arms (which i didn't want) so i quit Cata and never going back again.

They annihilated my main class yet again - melee hunter. If I don't end up rerolling I might just quit. Pretty disappointed.

This shit pushed me to quit. Why was this stuff pushed back? Only 1 new rune slot? Fuck off, they aren't even good for the 1 for most classes. Just more useless runes no one will use that they will call "content" meanwhile everyone is still waiting on those new dungeons/raids instead of just reskinned bullshit.

I dont really understand the weapon skill runes. They dont change anything. If im an orc with +5 on axes by default, ill just fucking put on the extra +5 on axes aswell. This shit doesnt make any sense. Devs dont play this game.
Honestly, until the lopsided pvp servers are fixed, the game is effectively unplayable for factions on certain servers. Alliance has full control of everything on Living Flame - US, they need faction based queues I guess? They limited character creation to try to balance but forgot to take into account characters not being played anymore... So when the servers started, they were pretty balanced. But favoring alliance as a whole across the phases really showed. Giving alliance a portal to BFD, the camped the raid entrance. Gnomer... Already in alliance pvp zone... So the can walk uncontested to portal and then camp. ST wasn't so bad I guess... But alliance still camp the portal with zero intention of actual raiding. I have tried to transfer off a few times, but never have been allowed due to wild growth balance... Seems horde are leaving in flocks... And it was felt before the game died

In p3 there are literally classes doing 4x the dps of others, and the neckbeard metaheads are more prevalent than ever, with their mentality seeping into the casuals. Try to find a raid spot with even mid pack class in p3. Goooood luck.

Heroic MC... ugh, so dumb. This is classic, not wotlk/cata/retail. I'm disappointed that they couldn't just keep it easy. If i wanted difficult content, I'd play retail. Classic is fun because you can get pugs together and clear. Now it's basically over because everyone will want to push heroics.

I really doubt that. New raids can just be harder overall. Why make two separate tiers? Each to their own i guess. Obviously some people like this, since it exists its Wotlk/Cata and Retail. But I’ve always hated it, since it enforces the sweaty min/max culture and gatekeeping even more

I saw something called feral specialization
gives you +5 feral combat skill which will reduce glancing blows by a bit and you only need 6% hit instead of 9% hit to lvl 63 bosses

more runes more imbalance, more items more imbalance! Thank goodness blizzard runs a long PTR, they should be credited for that! It will be very exciting to see how blizzard solves everything!! It's a good direction with heat level 2 /3 but hope legendary items don't become something every 5th player runs around with! Legendary should ideally be 1-4 servers only! otherwise it will not be unique to have them.

so do the new weapon skills stack with existing racials?
I think they mentioned a while back that it won't stack, but you can pick a different one and have both. Think the example given was something to the effect a human warrior can use it to better with their bow instead. We all thats not really a big win, but the intent behind this was to negate people having to pick a race for the meta. On the flip side some races now effectively have 1 less racial but I think over all it's a good move.

Missed opportunity for a lot of raids. BFD was fine but not switching SM/ZF and going for the dungeons people tend to stay away from was a fucking idiotic move. That temple fight in ZF woulda felt so cool lmao
Brd raid is literally mc. Not only that but brd encompasses WAY to much leveling content for that.
