literally a pro tennis player's retirement is to play pro pickleball
I hope so.
If the popularity and money swing the other way, that could swing the other way as well. Give it twenty years.
Sock is an outlier. He didn’t just instantly switch, he was play high-level pickleball while still on the ATP Tour
@@nunyabidness3075 no, tennis is far more physical and mental than pickleball
@@teostrong6973 mentally? No. I’ve played both. I don’t know where that even comes from. Being older than a spring chicken, I can tell you that the future is unknown. Also, it’s a lot easier to go around a PB player. Singles may become a game for the fast, tall, and young. We won’t know until we see a few iterations of kids being raised to be PB players. And, we don’t even know yet what really makes a good PB player as far as build.
Any ranked tennis players can easily master pickleball without much training.
Haha. It shows. Look at Genie
I think it’s vice versa lol because I’m the one who play pickle ball first
@@jasonwu3988 I wish this was more common! I feel like Pickleball is a better way to introduce people to racquet sports since it's easier to jump in and have fun, but if you want a real challenge (and a better workout) I'd definitely encourage advanced players to try their hand at tennis.
A few years ago yeah, now adays it takes a few years of practice to catch up, still easiest transition of any sport
Correction. Any person can master pickleball without much training. It's a family sport with no skill involved
I sometimes start a pickeball video to see if I can change my mind, and as soon as the first racquet hits the ball I go "nope."
I will always hate that sound...
Maybe we will get you in 30 years. Check back with us.
funny, the sound and feel of the hit is the best part of the game to me
It just feels and sounds exactly the opposite of the way hitting a tennis ball does. I kind of agree with him but I’ve gotten over the arbitrary dislike of pickleball
Lmao. That is so clssic. Well said Who invented the lame ass ball ? And more importantly that lame ass name?
combined with the fact that it's a made up sport for old people
I wonder what would happen if this Ben Johns guy grabs a tennis racket, walks into a tennis court and challenges Nole.
You're smart.
I played tennis with him before he played pickle ball. he hit a forehand on both sides
he could probabky score one or two points
Top 500 would be a better bet
@@RamsBereitBen Johns wouldn't be able to beat the last ranked guy in neither ATP nor ITF. It's a completely different sport. It's like comparing table tennis and tennis. Tennis is WAY more complex than pickleball
No hate to those who like this sport, in fact I actually liked it around 10-15 years ago when I was in middle school, but this is the worst sport to watch, it’s somehow slow while actually being a fast game, the margin for error is so low, meaning unless you play like jack does (like a tennis player) it just feels like dinking back and forth. The strategy every point is basically the same. It really feels like a sport that shouldn’t be taken to a pro circuit and taken so seriously
Jack Sock is the Nick Kyrgios of Pickleball 🤙🏼
We need that.
Except Jack isn’t a terrible person that throws hissy fits for quite literally no reason
@@colesmith7509 cry
Nick has been seen on pickleball courts, for a while now. He’s coming over 💯
They played a left handed point on a semi final.. even the #1 player thinks this sport is a joke.. ever seen that in tennis prolly not even in exhibition tennis..
Haha
Wow! Good editing ... fun to watch. Thanks
This is basically table-tennis but the players are standing on the table
Nah bro. Table tennis is crazy fast. Pickleball is slow. Pro tennis players won’t stand a chance against protable tennis players
wtf? Table tennis is really fast with a most spin of all racket sports.
having played both table tennis and tennis, I can tell you that table tennis at a high level is it's own game, whereas pickle ball is a legit piss take
@@randominternetuser72 completely agree with you but also think pickleball looks fun to play with with a group of friends and its got an easier learning curve.
@@dragndorf9 100%
Jack is literally the only one that can make me watch this ish!
It’s pretty fun to play.
@@PickleballHighlightHub grew up playing tennis, no comparison to me personally. Rather play the real thing lol but Jack is just amazing
I think describing jack sock as a "good" tennis player is a bit understated. I would call him 2an elite tennis player who might be the best doubles player of his generation. To your point though the athleticism/racket skills of top tier tennis talent entering pickleball should continue to challenge experience/pb specific skill vs pure athleticism/racket skill
He was not a good tennis player nor an elite tennis player.
@@waholoopesorry74 LOL he was top 10 at one point how is that not elite
people that think jack sock was just a "good" tennis player don't know anything about tennis. jack sock was ranked #8 in the world. He won paris masters. He won multiple doubles 3 grand slams, wimbledon twice and us open and davis cup sf. He certainly was an elite player. Even just making the top 100 is incredibly difficult, there's estimated to be over 1000 players, most people involved in tennis consider top 100 and certainly top 50, top 20, and top 10 to be elite
@@waholoopesorry74 how would you define elite tennis player?
not to mention jack sock made sf of atp finals, a tournament reserved for TOP 8 players in the world, it can't get more elite in that
When I'm bored with table tennis I might consider this sport
The thumbnail though 🔥
Ai. Thank you though.
I want to see a pickleball pro switch to tennis and challenge the #1 player. How well would that go?
That would not go good. They would get killed. A lot like these tennis players trying to come in. Jack sock has played PB for 6 years.
Let them challenge the best player in their town first 😂
Ask jack sock how it is playing Djokovic.
And had almost no BH on tour. Huge forehand though. PB is good though more people can get into it with less skill or training. But I still prefer tennis any day.
let me answer you: horrible LMAO
Is Jack Sock the future of pickleball?
probly. his tennis is way better to watch if only he put in the work off the court that it takes to stay in the top ten. He is a great talent tho.
Nah it’s Patriquin
As someone that watched him play tennis a few times I can honestly say, he never came close to his full potential. I never understood how he approached his matches but there was definitely a lackadaisical element in the last match he played at Indian Wells last year. He needed some good coaching.
Probably Quang Duong giving he is 18 years old
I couldn't stop smiling watching this.
The fact they played a point left handed tells you about how serious this sport is 😂
Imagine Federer playing pickleball.. with his sort of touch, I cant imagine how good will he be lol
That was fun to watch! I think Jack sock's game is really well suited to pickleball
I find it crazy that some people say pickleball has better athletes when a guy who was a pro tennis player picks up the sport and becomes one of the best pickle ballers in the world in such a short time. Imagine a pickleballer trying the opposite. lol.
I can't imagine someone who's played tennis at a 4.0+ level would ever consider saying pb in the same realm of athleticism/difficulty. The reason pb is popular is because virtually anyone can tap the ball back to the other side and feel like they've accomplished an athletic feat. Meanwhile, the learning curve and skill level of even being able to consistently rally with someone in tennis is almost impossible for the majority of people who try it.
Look at the shots he was hitting lol
I absolutely love Jack, I think he will be the one to beat in the end. I also love Ben John’s game always so cool calm and collected. Thanks for the video!
Couldn't agree more
Jack Sox playing is a must watch!
sock on fire :O
If Jack feels happy playing a different sport, let him follow that path. He seemed frustrated to me during his tennis matches for some time. I hope he is finding the joy in competing, whatever that may be.
That is what a good tennis player can do.
Then why don't they?
I mean, because tennis autonomically tennis is more of a fun sport, you have more control, more power, more space, more movement, more freedom, more variety. It’s hard to give that up
Eventually Ex-tennis players will dominate pickleball and change the game more like tennis.@@RichardABradley-ze9qn
They will and eventually Ex-tennis players will dominate pickleball and change the sport more like tennis.@@RichardABradley-ze9qn
@@RichardABradley-ze9qnLOL…because the good tennis players are playing tennis, where in one tournament they can make more prize money than a pickle baller could make in more than a decade.
Pickelball is an effort by government to defeat individual sports that require physical fitness. Take away tennis courts, irritate people. It's done well at that.
To be fair, if you play singles, you will move quite a bit. If you play doubles, you're better off going on a brisk walk if your goal is to burn calories.
Most boring sport I have ever seen XD
Padel is way more fun than pickleball
This guys really need to stop criticizing and start watching 🤣
How tf did he lose💀💀
What are you doing, Jack Sock?! Return to tennis, please. This is nothing.
He has a 3 year deal. We need him too. he is a showman.
@@PickleballHighlightHub No, you do not. What you need is to play tennis and not this. Tennis wants your forehand back, Jack Sock. You can be top 10 again.
"No" he doesn't have a 3 year deal? No, we don't need him? When you say you can be top 10 again do you think Jack is actually reading this?
@@PickleballHighlightHub Probably not, but he might. I just love his forehand. It is so unique.
How embarrassing for Sock to stop playing a sport to do this. 🤦♂️

@@PickleballHighlightHub Come on go full in the worst that can happen is a temp ban.
I always find it comical how the commentators are so surprised that Jack Sock is so athletic and hits so many winners. Did you not watch him play tennis?
Watch tennis? Why
@@PickleballHighlightHubbecause pickle ball is for non athletic people that can’t move… nothing against pickle ball, tennis is much harder though 🤷🏽
Jack will have the same thing happen that happened to him in tennis if he doesn’t figure out a backhand
As someone who enjoys tennis more than pickleball, this comment section is just crazy to me. Why is there so much hate towards pickleball?
I too prefer tennis but is it really so bad for another racket sport to become popular? If people enjoy it, awesome. That just gets more people on their feet playing. Ive had a lot more friends hop a court willing to try pickleball than tennis due to its lower barrier to entry. Thats a good thing in my eyes.
Edit: One small not to the lady/gentleman posting this video. I know its hard to not be negative and derogatory to the people who are rude about tennis vs. Pickleball but you have to try and turn the other cheek. Right now you seem to be fanning the flame. I get it, saying that it's hard to do is an understatment, but all you're doing here is making the divide deeper. Feeding hatred with hatred only makes matters worse.
I guess because tennis courts keep being turned into pickleball courts.
@@bluekirbyrocks that much makes sense. That too drives me nuts. But it still doesn't justify how much it's hated.
Tennis players want to compete with Pickleball players and make us the enemy. It's the same story all the time. Go to a tennis court and see how little they are used.
@@PickleballHighlightHub I've seen it both ways. Ive been to courts where all the tennis courts are full but the pickleball courts (which replaced tennis courts) are empty. Ive also seen it the other way around.
It use to be a real issue for my friends and I. We always struggled to find open tennis courts (sometimes driving 30+ minutes to get to some we knew would be open) but the pickle ball courts were rarely all in use. One of the places we use to go originally had 6 tennis courts. One day they converted 2 of those courts into 3 or 4 pickleball courts. The place went from already crowded on the tennis front to sometimes unusable for tennis due to wait times. So the sentiment can be real.
All I'm trying to say is there is a valid argument to why folks are upset about losing tennis courts. If you really want to make a difference and bridge the divide between pickleball and tennis players, you can't strawman an argument with the assumption of your opponents just lying or making things up.
While they may not say it in the best way, that doesn't mean they don't have a point or a reason to be upset.
Instead of throwing their concerns to the side, I'd recommend trying to show why losing 2 out of 10 tennis courts to gain 4 pickle ball courts can be a good thing for everyone. If pickleball is actually popular in the area, that means instead of 4 out of 10 tennis courts being used for pickleball, it's instead essentially 2 out of 10. Bow this logic only checks out if pickleball is that popular in the given area but it helps try and bridge the gap.
I'm a tennis player too, but I don't play anymore, I play Padel instead.
And we have the same comments on Padel videos, saying it's easier than tennis so it's inferior (while Padel is way more tecnical than tennis...)
They are just sad to loose some players years after years. In spain, France and some norther european country, Padel is now more popular than tennis. In spain it's the second sport right after soccer, which is insane considering tennis legends they have (Nadal, Alcaraz...), so yeah, recreative tennis is dying and they need a culprit to shame.
Jack crushed in Pickleball as well
Happy to see him find his best
To be fair to jack, his biggest weapon (serve) isn’t even used here
Jack Sock almost Pickle-king !
His progression is amazing. Give him a year.
Pickleball is fun to play but my only two problems are that there's too much play at the net in pro pickleball (especially in doubles) so it makes it a little boring to watch and the fact that side out scoring (or whatever they call it in pickleball) is stupid imo. Other than that I like it
I don't know what of think about PB. It seems like he's wasting his talent playing this sport.
I’m just glad you called it a sport.
I need that sport in France.
Call me. I will help.
Il y en mais ça prend pas du tout.
Compliqué d'arriver en même temps que le Padel qui est quand même nettement plus sympa et intéressant (je fais les deux)
@@PickleballHighlightHub 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
LMAO. ben got so piised after 2nd game loss. Beat by a tennis player 1 yr into PB . Love it. .
At 4:03 Sock touches the grey small area. Is he allowed to do that?
I believe so because the ball bounced in the kitchen.
I guess this is the sport you switch to when you dont have the motivation to train hard anymore and compete in PRO tennis?
Must be.
Wow
i dont understand this modern ping pong
what a shame, a tennis pro player go to play pickleball
haha.
Soooo there’s no strategy except running forward after 1 shot huh….
What would your strategy be?

most ridiculous game ever invented... the sound, the paddles.. everything.
This is so damn unathletic I have to watch at 2x speed to make it seem like a sport.
What is this about they not even moving
volley's shouldn't be allowed in pickleball - kind of like ping pong
i wanna see long rallies
Jack Sock watching his wallet increase in volume, while his reputation goes to waste.
To the 30 million pickleball players. Reputation for not playing tennis? Who cares.
tableless table tennis
Big difference is in table tennis you can generate enormous amounts of spin. PB is more like playing table tennis with a wooden paddle (ie, no grippy rubber). That is a horrible game if you've experienced it.
nah table tennis with good players is fun this shit is just goofy
Gym class “sport”
ofc pickleball uses ai art for its thumbnails an stuff. fake tennis using fake art
so Roger would ruin this sport at his old age
that's not a sport
This goes hard on mute!
Lmao the Tennis fan hate on PB is so silly.
Just cause PB is an eaiser sport does it make it a lesser sport? Should MMA and boxing fans shit on Tennis for the lack of injuries and risk then?
How far should this hate train go to prove which is a "more skilled sport"?
Theyre all sports with individual fanbases. Just stay in your lane and respect eachother
I agree. They help with views and algorithm. Tennis needs a villain.
For tennis Jack isnt that much of an athletic guy he has had problems with his weight and injuries. But for pickleball which is deisgned for unathletic bozos Jack is like Usain bolt compared to them/
Sport for gays, retirees and frustrated unsuccessful tennis aspirants.
Tennis fan boys that take time to hate on pickleball videos are pathetic. Most good tennis players are not insecure. 😂

JS is so bad. he is like Florida 5.0 player and got sponsored
Did you watch the video? Sock is great!
and I think he is getting better each time.
Why do you need to have 2 handed backhand in pickleball ? It looks silly.
The same reason why tennis has moved to the 2 handed backhand... It's more stable and easier to hit drives. Also the 2nd hand tends to enforce proper technique for the drives.
@@DarrenCorreaDCLOL…then why don’t they use a two-hander in ping pong?
The two-hander is popular in pb because most players are simply copying tennis players and/or are ex-tennis youth players who never developed a one-handler.
Tennis needs a two-handed because the racket is long and hard to leverage with one hand…a pb paddle is a large ping pong paddle, not a small tennis racket…
@@guslevy3506a table tennis ball is much lighter and the pace of the game is faster. You don’t see tennis strokes in table tennis for a reason, forehand or backhand
@@guslevy3506 you dont need two hands to put a drive behind a ping pong ball. also, the longer you go thinking everyone is just trying to copy tennis, or that someone just "hasnt developed a two-hander", and the more that you try and prove to everyone that tennis is better, the more frustrated you're gonna end up haha
Most PB pro players probably have a tennis background. The two handed BH in tennis is actually a FH on the non dominant side. So the dominant arm is used for stability and support. If you were trained with a 2 hander in tennis, that's a totally different shot. And you might not be comfortable hitting the PB with a one handed BH, even though the ball is much lighter and racket much shorter. It's a matter of muscle memory. You just feel you have much more control with the mechanics that you have trained with.
