The mental toughness of Ben Johns to win the last 6 points of the game and win the match is impressive.
Nasty forehands at the end by Ben. Great match
Clutch!
23:47 insane shot from Quang, dude has had some nasty ATPs against Ben lol
Especially the single-handed backhand ATP was amazing.
Sitting next to his dad listening to him cuss him out in Vietnamese at the end of the match is wild. Hard not to feel bad for the kid seeing him tear up at the end, but maybe thats just the coaching style that works for their relationship
Really? Hopefully it wasn’t cussing him out and more constructive 😬
Were you sitting next to him throughout the match? If so, is Quang looking at him (after nearly every point)?
@@andrewtirado1778 yeah after every point he would look over at his dad as if he is looking for advice or approval
@@imK3VBOT could you tell if his dad was giving any?
I have a lot of questions: You sat next to his dad? Can we see you in the video? LOL You speak Vietnamese?
I’ve seen comments like this about their relationship but I never see any about ALW and her mom who’s publicly stated she says mean spirited things to get ALW going. I wonder why that is….
Ben Johnson; is aCool;
composed; quiet dynamic young man
pleasure to watch him play..
entertaining..
His maturity level is off the charts. He's also very well-spoken.
Quang always plays out of his mind vs Ben. Was painting the baseline with returns for awhile. He choked away match point a couple of times man. His drives are so good he could’ve taken some heat off them at the end.
great contrast of styles. great game!
Ben got his get back. He looked solid, and Quang has some sick patterns!
Wow, awesome, Ben.
Great job Ben!
I just got in to pickleball and wow great match.
Learning a lot from these pros Ben with the come back to win.
Commentators glazing for ben is wild
Quong is young and quickly getting better. At this pace, he'll overtake Ben soon.
Maybe, but I doubt he could have played any better in this match.
I wish Quang Duong win Vizzy Atlanta Open champion 2025. He will vs Jack Sock at final.
Great comeback !
To see a player *redline* for the whole match (Duong) is impressive.
Good win for Ben, who played under control 85% of the match.
Ben Johns still the best!
Quang has only one style - hard, fast, hard and fast. Ben is the complete package - he can be athletic and hard game and delicate and the soft game. Great job Ben!!!
Quang beat Ben on the majority of the cat and mouse games. My boy Quang is better than Ben, he just choked at the end of game three. I like Ben but Style Bender is the future of sport.
He has a Long Way to go to beat Ben John’s,, Best Pickleball Player in the World 🌎.
@@PhilProfEdwardschoking at the end is part of not being better yet. There were stretches where Quang looked like the far superior player, but truthfully he’s probably just the better athlete. Ben was wayyyy off his normal game today. That part was obvious. A standard deviation below his normal play and he still found a way. I like Quang too but we have to be objective about what we see.
@@PhilProfEdwards Ya not ....... Quang has a long way to go yet!
Quang just lost to him. Avoid the excuses. You look willy.
Quang is 17 yrs old? Dayum… close games! Great job to both! Quang is gonna be a menace
He's 18 and is already a menace. His shot-making skills are the best.
It was strange to hear clapping while Duong was setting up to serve.
heartbreaker of a loss...I hope Quong can recover. Keep going man!
Is that a foot fault on ben at 32:22? He slid his foot back but it looks like he was touching when he hit the ball
Definitely a fault. Ref missed it. I didnt see it till you pointed it out!
We have all been privileged to see the future of pickleball and it is spelled Dong. The kid is amazing, and will only improve with time.
I'm pretty sure it's spelled wrong. Who the hell is Dong?
At 6:10 one of the announcers mentions how Quang is constantly looking over at the bench, speculating that something’s wrong. I’ve noticed that in every game he plays, though. Watch him - he looks over after nearly every shot.
His dad is his coach
How the hell you know? Abused? Come on, every player has his own style. Don’t judge. Or maybe you a better player.
He looks to his dad and he gets here. Where are your kids? C'mon people.
@@razrgu3838
No coaching allowed outside of timeouts. Not saying he is, but I've seen it in person and it's not a good look.
@@SanityReigns-pz8qh a) I don’t know who he’s looking at for sure, b) don’t know if, as you say, no coaching is allowed outside of timeouts, though I will assume you are correct there, and c) don’t know what constitutes coaching. I haven’t seen any cameras directed toward whoever Quang is looking at but would like to know if any signaling seems to be going on, or is it just “encouragement”? Clapping, saying “You got this”, etc? And, again, don’t know if coaches are allowed to signal anything. Maybe they can. Lots of conjecture. Just wanted to comment that I’ve seen it every match I’ve watch him play. It’s so regular, it began to really stand out to me. Amazing shots from Quang against Johns, and incredible mental strength from Johns (and, of course, play) to pull out the win.
What's their record this year (Duong vs B.Johns)? 2-2, i believe.
I've said this before in another one of Quong's matches. If he just added a little more soft game, I think that would help him. He's currently at 90% hard game...maybe 80/20 would be better.
It seemed to me It changed when Ben failed to hit a ball out of the air, in the middle of game three. After that, he took several out of the air for winners. crazy good by both.
38:10 the announcer said SACK instead of Sock 😂
Ben just showed us why is the #2 singles player in the world
Singles in points, but he has dominated Fed.
Con, Sir Ben!!
Quang couldn't have played a better match than he did in this one, and he still lost. However, his shot-making is the best in the sport.
so why isn't this on PickleBall TV??????
It was live on pickleball tv yesterday. They upload these after the fact for people to rewatch
crazy how little quangnathan is the only one who can make ben sweat, and how ben is seed 2 even though federico has never even made it close before against ben. the only way federico has won a tournament in the last few years has been when quang knocked out ben or ben didnt participate.
Ben has to get to his forehand more
the grunting is too much. At what point is it a hindrance😆
Ya me too. So distracting
Why is Quang doing the tennis grunts/groans?? Like there’s no need for it lmao
Does Duong yell “what!” after some of his winners?
Yes, often
FEED THE DONG !!! He hungry. he'll be back !
That was strangely... inappropriate!
@@Fernando-vg4ym hehehehe me love the dong!!! the future of pickleball
Best nickname ever, you always crack me up
@@Branko1964 It came so naturally!!! I mean, He plays a big pickle game so he should be named Big Dong the king of pickles!!!
Ben not getting paid to let Quang win anymore
Announcers riding Ben so hard
quang would win more games if he grunted less
Who does duong keep looking at when he looses a point?
Dad on the sideline. They put a camera spot on him near the end of the he’s bald and a little fluffy but same complexion and eyes.
Hey Atlanta Open, move to the rally scoring like the MLP. I'm a busy guy, I can't spend 5 minutes to see one point scored. I need to know approximately how long a match will take, so I can manage my time appropriately. Thanks.
Stop saying his name wrong guys
still pronouncing duong incorrectly?
its not “DWONG”.
That 18:22 cut after Ben hits the ball lol
Hate the grunts! yuk!!!
WOW what a match! Duong is definitely a banger (not that Ben doesn't put some away nicely) but Ben showed unmatched finesse with those spinning resets!
Still can't say the kids name right.. 😢
guy is like the tiger woods of pickleball. absolutely icey cold
Quit lookin at your Dad all the time and play your game.
8:15 did i just hear you both say Ch*nk in the Armor? wow...
It’s a saying lol, like chainmail
I still think it’s not necessary at that level. You don’t hear the John’s or ALWaters making noises. It’s a wiffle ball not a heavy tennis ball.
Commentators should be calling the match, not root for a particular player. I can do without the commentators.
Must we have the tennis moans in pickleball , it’s very annoying !!
The sharp exhale as you uncoil your core through a stroke is a core tennet of any racquet sport. The sharpness can be exaggerated with sound for consistency. Soooo....I think the moans will probably stay.....for scientific reasons
commentators pretty biased bs lol
yes ahahaha biased commentators
Outlaw the grunts. So rude.
Absolutely agree! Hate the grunts
How are they rude? They do it in Tennis and Badminton and other sports. It's been proven that the grunting can lead to more power and keeps your core stable, keeps your breathing consistent. Just cause you don't like the sound, doesn't mean it's not valid or disrespectful
Don’t give pickle ball the reputation of being sensitive as fk to everything please
Remember that guy shouts every time if he wins a point in foreign language? If you people can’t stand grunts in professional sports and make it so politically, stay away from his match. Simple as that.
@@BlGSac
They tried to ban it in tennis, but didn't have the cajones to follow through. Forceful expelling of air does not need to result in a drawn out grunt. That came about in tennis very much as a borderline distraction, cover the ball-strike sound, tactic.
Duong not good enough
SPOILER BLOCKER
Quang's grunts are annoying af
As Ben ages and his skills fade, he is going to transform into the biggest baby whiner in pro sports.
Why are they trying to make this activity into something for people below 65 years old? There is a sport called tennis
😂
Because more people are casually playing pickleball, there is less need for athleticism so people who aren’t in pristine shape can play and compete pretty well, the learning curve isn’t as high (it’s easier to be competitive at a casual level in pickleball than in tennis), the courts are smaller so you can fit more in a given area thus more people can play concurrently, need I go on? Why don’t you ask yourself why you’re trying to prevent people from playing a fun casual sport?
Number 1 in the world? How? If he hasnt even played tournaments outside of the US
Ready for Ben Johns to be done… such a boring style, the new high energy players will take over soon!
