Kyrgios possessed the greatest raw talent of any player including the big 3 IMO. Unfortunately, he doesn't have any of the other hallmarks needed for the success they accomplished. The passion, tenacity, and willpower. If he'd have worked as hard as them, he really could have been unstoppable. Oh well, at least we got to see a sliver of brilliance from him.
This is all too true. I have been a tennis instructor at a high level academy in Irvine for many years. I have seen the most insanely talented players get passed by the most untalented, unathletic, but highly motivated players over and over again. I can guarantee that Kyrgios works very hard. You cannot get to that level without hard work, but there are levels within levels to tennis. I think Kyrgios' biggest downfall is his mental fortitude, or lack there of. He all too often allows how he is feeling in any particular moment to dictate how he is performing. That is not a trait that will result in greatness, unfortunately for Nick.
@@Vince6323 May seem pedantic, and I don't mean it that way, but I think the issue ISN'T that he's driven by how he's feeling, it's that he's seemingly unable to convert any negativity into motivation for greater performance. @@steeltrap3800 I appreciate your gracefulness in expressing your differing opinion. It's rare to find in a UA-cam comment section. I do, however, disagree with you on how this dynamic plays into the game of tennis, and the success of a player. These examples show how emotion, positive or negative, almost always adversely effects a players performance. Each of these top players you mentioned reached their peak level of performance when they were able to wield a high level of stoicism, eliminating emotion as a variable as much as possible. Tennis is a game with an incredible amount of variables that dictate outcomes. The technical aspect of tennis is among the highest of any sport, including golf, yet the physical aspect is equally prevalent, as well as strategical, mental, and emotional. Tennis is a sport with no time limit, and even if you have won or lost every single point prior, the outcome is still undetermined. This adds for an incredible need for mental stability and focus. Allowing negative OR positive emotions to settle can cloud your shot selection, as well as cause your form to falter. Negative emotion often causes a player to become overly aggressive with shot selection, trying to win back your sense of dominance over the other player, instead of making precise and calculated plays. Typically this manifests as a player attempting to end points before they are well earned, simply by "hitting big." Inversely, positive emotion, i.e.: feeling like you are the dominant player, can often lead to a player feeling as though he can coast through the rest of the match, and allowing your opponent to claw their way back into the match. We see this often in tennis with back and forth sets. Playing with a sense of stoicism allows you to play to your strengths, methodically and with patience, regardless of the circumstances. For many players, every game is “all on the line” - all the training, time, effort in training, etc. You can't lose, it would all be for nothing - just being first means something. Prime djokovic 😂😂 only fedal fans can create own happiness like that 😂 even 2007 was better for Novak than 2017
How many Grand Slams does Kyrgios have and how many dose Djokovic have ?
Had he taken this sport slightly more serious, he could have reigned for years and obtained #1 ranking.
Nevertheless, still one of my favorites! Speechless talent.
what can be more exciting to watch than Nick vs Nole
actually all matches with Nick are barnburners if he feels good and has desire to win
I think your channel needs Wimbledon 2019 final with title for example 'Djokovic upsets Federer, London and entire (tennis) world'
Remember prime nadal lost in the first round of the Australian open in 2016
7:26 ahhhh hahahah
He hits a lot of hard flat shots and sometimes thats the key to beating BIG opponents like Djokovic
It is, you hit the nail on the head. In 2009 Del Potro beat Federer at that end of his prime, and Federer had won the US Open 5 times in a row. I specifically remember Del Potro hitting these insane flat 100mph+ shots.
@markaven5249 Also David Nalbandian in the Master Series where he beat all the big 3 Federer Djokovic Nadal in the same tournament only man to ever do this
@@alexbeast8845 I miss Nalbandian, he was the greatest player to never start winning tons of slams. They go too early.
@markaven5249 Had too much talent he could beat anyone on his best days...Also had the best backhand in tennis history in my opinion...Too bad he was not consistent enough with his training...He was kind of lazy he was busy doing other stuff he could not put his effort and focus 100% in tennis so he stopped
@@alexbeast8845 They just for whatever reason don't want it as much as they get older. I mean if you think of Novak you think of a big 37 year old kid, people grow up and these guys are already multi-millionaires, probably think about their health, legs, elbows, and retire early and relax playing club tennis on the beach with their families instead.
Nick's an entertainer. I'd be more impressed if he actually tried to win a grand slam. His final against Djokovic at Wimbledon was a joke, He started yelling at his box and spitting at them.
You can love Kyrgios or hate him. Both are understandable.
But no one could ever deny the fact he was great and one of a kind player
It’s not prime Novak but the way he’s losing points still shows something. How many aces did nick get? Doing this to a top 10ish ATP player is still insane.
To ace Djokovic 25 times in one game is unreal...I think Djoker is the best returner the game has seen. The only other person I think who could do this is John Isner.. Kyrgios was 2-0 against Djokovic and it's funny cuz Kyrgios originally said Federer was much tougher to play than Djokovic.. (Kyrgios was 1-6 vs Federer I believe). Strange how tennis works sometimes..
Kyrgios plays well when his shoes and socks are the same colour.
Who made this video either doesn't know Djokovic's history or hates Djokovic...2017 was Djokovic's worst year. After he won French open 2016 he experienced a motivational drop and some elbow injuries...he took 2 years to get back to his prime winning Wimbledon 2018.
Respect for Kyrgios...but against prime Djokovic he has little chances (see Wimbledon 2022 final)
he hates djokovic, it was always obvious but this title is another level of bullshit
9:34 those repeated identical, yet unstoppable serves would have me furious lol
Plays like he's been learning tennis for 100 years , and acts like he's been living for 2.
anyone know how to watch tennis on youtube without getting WivoRN recommended? i have clicked dont show videos from this channel like 100x and they keep showing up
Petition to get this video removed from youtube. How low can tou go Wivo
Labelling him as Prime Djokovic in his worst year😂
Lol at the line call at 7:27 and the crowd's laugh. So awesome to see Nick beat prime Djoker as he was vocal about not liking him as a person too...Djoker did get him at wimbledon though.
Right,in 2017 when Novak was injured...there is no doubt that Nick was one of the biggest talents to hit the tennis scene in the last 15 years, but it seems that he wasn't serious enough to take it to the next level and become a great champion that he could've been... :)))
220km/h consistent serves are crazy
One of the best serves of all time
Imagine if Kyrgios took tennis seriously. Definitely would have been world #1 and won a few slams.
Fun fact... these two are now like best friends!
"Prime". Such an miserable title to hide the pain of the 24.
Will he ever come back?
Which one of the two?
@@ricklee5845 Nick. (Novak is still an active player.)
@@Yorgos2007 Are you sure about that?
@@ricklee5845 Novak Djokovic will play at Roland Garros, while Nick Kyrgios has disappeared. I really don't know why. He is not even 30. He should still compete.
@@Yorgos2007 As I already said, Kyrgios is now an influencer.
Swap "Prime" with "Injured"
Keegs then: "Murray is a better returner than Novak, Novak was playing dodgeball when I was serving"
Keega now: "Novak the goat"
The Indian Wells match is explains why Novak hired a specialist to deal with Nicks serve.
Nick's worst record is 0-4 vs Nishikori.
The greatest wasted talent I can think in tennis, if not in sports in general. This performance is terrifying.
What are you smoking, how is this prime Djokovic? He was so off this year with elbow problems, family issues and motivation problems...this was a transition period for novak that Kyrgios capitalized on
i don't know if kyrgios was a genius but he is way too funny when mocking djoko around 7:30 🤣
wasnt novak just comming from a operation or some?
Novak couldn’t read a single serve, never saw him returning that bad as this match in Mexico
Guys who base their game on consistency, rhythm, and percentages like Djokovic, Rudd, and Zverev tend to get beaten badly by Nick. Assuming of course, that Nick is there mentally.
What a talent🎉
What a potential this dude had. Wow. But he was unstable both mentally and physically.
Very seldom could he put together 2 good matches in a row. He made it to 2022 Wimbledon final due Nadal's injury and could not play against Djokovic at all. These current 2 matches one in Acapulco and the other in Indian Wells were fantastic tennis by Kyrgios. His potential was immense. Could have easily been "numero uno" on ATP-s list. Yet he also acted like child growing older and was obviously proud of it
"prime", ok then 2015-2016 Rafa is also prime Rafa and 2013 federer is prime federer
2017 is the only year in the past 16 that Djokovic did not win at least one major. He lost to Dennis Istomin at the Aussie Open. Nowhere near prime level.....He was starting to be injured and STILL could have beaten Kyrgios in the first match. Had a bunch of set points.
Anyone notice first match was atp 500?
Kyrgios, after challenging, got one ball corrected in the first set. After this, he still complains. If you get it right, you don't have to complain.
Bro hates Djokovic 😂😂 #1 Baby
Title should be: the only time kyrgios could hit prime in his career.😂😂
now do a video about prime nadal (2024) and prime federer (2021) haha
apparently Novak was in prime last 12 years...He would just go on operation here
