    Great video! One thing you’ve gotta be so careful with deep cycle batteries, is ensuring your connections are tight and you don’t have any uncovered wire. My buddies Jon boat trolling motor setup caught fire when I took it out because of improper wiring. He used electrical tape to insulate some wires which is NOT good enough. Make sure to use shrink tube or something permanent to make sure your batteries don’t catch fire!

    Makes sense to me. You mentioned grounding the batteries, how are you doing that?

      Yeah.. not sure how that made it in there.... I just deleted that part.. good catch!

    Maybe I missed something, and if I did, I'm sorry. But why not just buy a 24 volt 100 ah lithium battery (@ $550 on Amazon) instead of 2 12 volt 100 ah lithium batteries (@ $175 each on Amazon, $350 total.) I could be wrong, but the 24 volt 100 ah lithium battery would take @ 1-2 hours to recharge, while the 12 volt batteries take @ 14 hours to recharge. Also, wiring the 12 volt batteries in series reduces their lifespan/total recharging cycles, and adds unnecessary weight to your boat. The extra initial @ $200 in cost seems well worth it in the long run to me. But, the video was very good and very informative, and I enjoy your content immensely! Thank you.

      I hear ya and that is what I would do as well.. however, $200 is a dealbreaker for some folks and since I am trying to create a deep inventory I figured I would make the video.

      @@WillSelbyKayakFishing a 200Ah 24vt would cost you $1K+ and that battery would weight 80lbs. As a kayak angler.. that's a no go... but for boat anglers.. right on

      @wendellfishing not sure why you assume I'm not a kayak Angler. I actually meant a 24-volt 100 amp hour .LiTime makes a 24v 100ah battery that weighs 45lbs. Seems like it would take up less room and be faster to charge.

    Should you hook 2 12 volt batteries together for a 12 volt trolling motor

  • @lowlifeangler
    @lowlifeangler Місяць тому +2

    Good job! It shouldn't catch fire like a Chevrolet Bolt.
    Those had a ternary lithium battery which was unsafe and less stable. Plus the charging software had alot of bugs. Saying if you set to charge at 90% it was more like 110% then it will catch fire. Chevrolet changed te battery package.
    Your battery is probably set up is probably a lithium phosphate Ion ,alot safer.

    Dumb question
    Since it’s in series does that mean if I charge one of the battery the other would also be charging?

    • @wendellfishing
      @wendellfishing  25 днів тому +1

      Batteries connected in series strings can also be recharged by a single charger having the same charging voltage output as the battery pack voltage
