    Hey buddy! I have a 12v 30 amp 300watts space heater that I’d like to take camping. How many 12v car battery do I need to power it for 7hrs and what solar panels wattage do I need to recharged it? Thank you so much for your video best explanation I’ve found so far here!! Oh by the way I’m a subscriber!!🎉

    • @diypotentials
      @diypotentials  Рік тому +1

      It depends on the capacity of your battery. If you have a 12V 30AH battery, you will need 7 of those for a 7 hrs runtime. If you are planning on charging the 12v 30AH battery with solar panels , a 60 watts solar panel at 12v will offer 6 amps of current. Be careful to read the charging rate of the battery. Too much charging current can ruin the battery. Good luck!

    Hello, thank you for your informative videos. I just watched your Costco jump starter & power bank review which I also just bought one. I have a scooter that uses 4 SLA batteries like what you're showing which are connected in series? (not sure), and I haven't used the scooter for quite a while, so the batteries are dead and I can't charge it with the original scooter charger. Can I use the Costco jump starter to recharge or jump start these SLA batteries? Do I have to remove the batteries completely out of the scooter, and one by one to charge them or can I just leave them in the scooter and connect the Costco jump starter to them? If so, can you show me how to connect the Costco jump starter to the batteries? Thank you.

    I see you linked the 14 AWG Wires in the description. I am new to all of this and I was wondering how it works. Does the color of the wire matter? How can I get the same legnth and adapter type that you have, where I can slide it on and off easily? Thanks

    • @diypotentials
      @diypotentials  Рік тому +1

      The color doesn't matter for the flow of electricity, but the having different color wires helps to identify the positive and negative flow of electricity from the battery. The red wire is normally used for the positive terminal and the black is often used for the negative terminal. You can get these wires from you local Home Depot or Lowes or local auto shops. To get the same length, you simple cut them. For the connectors, you can get them at Lowes, Home Depot as well and local auto shops as well. To connect them, watch my the video at time stamp, 11:28 to 12:00. Good luck on your project. Thanks!

    Silly question as I’m new to this I want to connect two batteries on a motorcycle the reason why is often a heated accessory is left in and kills the battery then stranded so let’s say it takes 1 hour to kill the battery and the motorcycle is dead if I had two batteries it would last longer say 2 hours till it died? Meaning have more chance of saving it before it died?

    • @mtthwjhnsn34
      @mtthwjhnsn34 23 дні тому

      Correct, however on my motorcycle I connected the positive wire of the 12v port to a power source that is only active when the ignition is on, like a wire from the headlight or another accessory circuit, and connect the negative wire to a grounded point on the motorcycle frame; essentially, tapping into an existing ignition-controlled circuit to power the heated gear or anything else so you wouldn't drain the battery in the first place :)

    I know this is sort of off of the beaten path but just generally.
    We have a scooter that has four batteries wired in series 4. 12 volt batteries wired to 48 volt.
    We use the scooter just for going back and forth to craft fairs that we go to to carry supplies from time to time to our RV.
    I can't find a reason why I wouldn't be able to just add one battery parallel temporarily At the end of the series chain for a little more capacity once in a while because there are times when we use it so much that there isn't time to really charge it
    I would just put dongles off of the end of one of the batteries in the series to be able to connect parallel to the end battery and attach an extra battery for the rare times that we need Just a little more power before we could actually charge. It would only be used sparingly and unattached when not needed and also unattached when charging the scooter normally. I would charge the additional spare battery separately.
    I do understand it is probably not an ideal situation that the battery should technically match the same amp hour rating and voltage of course but again, this is just for temporary use here and there.
    Does it seem feasible? This could work in a pinch?

    Hi there... In this video (ua-cam.com/video/Ajt1ElIw8Qg/v-deo.htmlsi=OJx-Whmp4V6F23kP), you used a 7ah/20hr battery, and at 2:28, you said to divide the "20" by 7 to get the amount of amps that the battery can discharge (or something to that effect). But in this video, the one I'm currently commenting on, you used 5ah/20hr battery, and at 4:36, you said to divide the "5" by the 20 to get the constant rate of current.
    Assuming "getting the amount of amps that the battery can discharge" and "getting the constant rate of current" are the same, this seems contradictory.
    Again, in the first video, you said to divide the second number by the first number. And in this video, you said to divide the first number by the second number. I'm not necessarily doubting the information you've provided. I'm simply trying to learn and this confuses me. Thank you in advance!
