1200 plus hours that's a good start but my 72 year old Dad is pushing 2700 hours he has chests full of resources. That man is a non-stop farm machine what a great way to spend retirement playing video games is. He has had some major health issues and video games really keep his mind sharp, alert and busy.
my biggest gripe with this game is backpack storage space, since i play solo most of the time my backpack is always almost full, maybe half empty when i leave out (yes i carry my tools and weapons lol). i dont see why extra storage for our inventory isnt upgradeable through what Milton said, milk molars or raw science but we could in theory craft a new backpack too with plenty of materials were all hoarding.
The main annoyance I have with base defense is when the orb weavers attack my oak tree base, so I kill a bunch of them then about 3 or 5 minutes later it says payback delivered, which means they were successful yet I look around and nothing is broken so I am assuming what actually happens is they just time out.
@@akamikegansta Or they spawn somewhere and cant reach my base . I actually have a lot of defence events happen and most off them bug out . Might be the reason for the quantity now that I think about it ..
@@shadowkhan422 I also have like 4 spots 2 big ones and 2 small ones. But they always spawn by the right corner of the pond that is where my main base is
Always thought about how a big portion of the upper yard is optional somewhat to the story, and one way i imagine could be done to make use of it is instead of Burgl givin you the quest item for the final stages, maybe you need to get some parts from the upper yard to give to Burgl to make it with, like say some parts are found in the lab hidden up there for example Would encourage to explore it to get them, and point us to some of the other optional content we can do too if we include the lab
I mostly agree with your end thoughts/review. I do think the lower yard is mostly well sorted, but its after tier 1 things get funky. Its like the jump to tier 3 is just nuts. Same with going to the upper yard. Like I think they could have the same items, but spread them out to 5 tiers and throw in some middle of pack bugs. I mean they just changed color on bugs to make all the different ants, they could of done some things like that with other bugs. Like its the middle game where I have issues. You have nothing then all of a sudden you have everything and the game is over. I still do think the game has alot of potential, and is good
As for the pacing, obsidian has always had issues with that. Outerworlds for example feels like it's really starting to go somewhere and then just slams the brakes into a sudden finale
me and my friend have been playin the game nonstop for around 7 days now. we beat the game, got the bad ending, went back n got the good ending. now, we’re working on 100%ing the game. my overall outlook on grounded was very good my first time playing. i will admit, at least for me, the first play through can be frustrating. between the annoying boss fights you weren’t prepared for or the god damn water levels, being new and relatively unprepared for things made it seem difficult. but on my second run, we blew thru the game because of the new knowledge and experience we had, yet we’re still learning so much. that’s the beauty of survival games, n i think grounded captures that perfectly.
I really enjoyed the game, however it does have some issues. The pacing of the game is definitely an issue. As you said, the lower yard is paced well, everything after that is rushed. They need to make upgrade resources respawn, no-one wants to do that grind, especially when they keep nerfing things. Again, backpack space is too limited aswell. Especially as you need to carry all your tools, a torch, food etc. Maybe just make the backpack for resources, and make everything else free to carry. The building is excellent, but everything requires too much resources imo. Last issue is the display for stats for weapons and armor being just a visual bar which isnt consistent throughout the game. Visually you have T1 and T3 weapons with similar stats.
Mutations should all be passive, although most of them seem pointless, same with consumables, making the food feels like to much work to get not much out of it
3:52 max says the same thing everytime you look at a wolf spider and look away then look back rinse and repeat. He says, “Doooon’t think my go to spider-elimination strategy is gonna be much use on thaat.” It’s annoying ass hell.
On the waft emitter when I put 15 bombardier beetle parts wanting boiling glands I got a decent amount of them more than I expected. Recently I put 15 wolf spider fangs in got a total of 6 in return for one of the absolute hardest defenses out there, so putting the wolf spider fangs in is the only way to summon wolf spiders but if you put the max 15 in you do get wolf spiders about 7 or so but you also get about 5 or more infected wolf spiders and they love to gang up on you. Someone may be a perfect block god but all the explosive bites are tough and constantly stagger you.
Infected wolf spiders also attack faster than wolf spiders. So spider attack speed goes like this for the adults, orb weavers, wolf spiders, infected wolf spiders, and finally the black widow. I would say the broodmother is more unique since her attacks are kinda fast and kinda slow especially the last bite.
Don't know where to put recommendations so im just going to put it here. I think it whould be cool of they did something with the faction reactivity. Like 7 days to die, every couple days the base defence would start.
Great video, Perfect balance of celebrating and criticizing the game. It's clear that you enjoy the game and want to see it be even better. Nowadays most fall into a love or hate position if you love a game you can't see anything negative and vice versa. Right before I saw your video I watched another semi popular grounded YT channel literally dismiss and excuse every negative in the game. Again good job on highlighting both the good and bad in game
All I can say is thanks for all the content for this game. You have a great format, thank you THANK YOU for not prefixing every video with an annoying fifteen second generic CGI intro like so many other content creators do. It is channels like this that really make the spirit of independent media continue on. Pushing your "brand" is getting tiresome and commercial feeling, and you avoided that nicely. It wouldn't surprise me if the game devs watched these videos and considered changes. The Coup De Grass for example would have been impossible to find on raw exploration - the "puddle" didn't look like it was deep enough to be dive-able and I must have walked past it fifty times before looking up the four leaf clover on your channel.
I lovely review, I am a casual player I feel like some of your points are a little harsh like many games have useless perks… but I really enjoyed this review keep up the great content
Make upgrade resources respawn so you don’t just end up saving them instead of wasting them. The fact you can actually WASTE them on tier 1 stuff before you learn that it doesn’t respawn is a badly implemented feature.
I thoroughly enjoy your videos on Grounded. I referred to them many times for advice. Unfortunately, I disagree with your final review. Most gamers don't understand the importance of value. Value is how we treat almost everything in life and its importance to us. That being said, you played this game for over 1200 hours which is like three 40 hour work weeks. The game cost about $40 and if you divide that by hours played you were entertained for about $.035 per hour. Would you say the time you played is worth 35 cents an hour? I believe it was. Why? Because I'm only 12 hours in and I feel this game is amazing because of its originality and graphics. I've already got my moneys worth. I love creativity when it comes to gaming and this was VERY creative. Lastly, I understand completely when you said it feels like the game isn't complete and may have been rushed. I get that. The best example is Cyberpunk2077. That being said they keep trying to improve with updates and haven't abandoned it. I'm looking forward to see what the game becomes in the next few months. Lastly, keep up the great work. I will continue to follow you because you material is amazing.
Ok, so to me it looks like, I could play it rleaxed for hundreds of hours and just gather and collect and build? But whenever I want a challenge I could move up? To be more precise: Can i focus on basebuilding, and potentially keep my base the way I like it? Because, lets say, I push a few hundred hours in my base, I dont want to lose it maybe? :D
the only thing i disagree on is the co-op experience, I might be wrong but my friend plays xbox and im on pc and its perfectly smooth if i get ruberbanding i just crouch and uncrouch and it fixes it. (note: i have bad internet and my friend has god internet so he hosts it)
I can see what your saying, but perfect block timings are extremely off for non-host players, and blocking after doing a full combo on someone else's world will result in lagging the block and won't actually block at all. Also ping is not very based on internet, more so on location, however grounded has an issue with ping making all of what you and I stated happen regardless of location or internet when in a world that you aren't hosting. I constantly have issues with this while fighting simple and easy enemies like wolf spiders, black widows, ladybirds and so many more. You can test if you want.
as soon as you said "several different biomes" i immedietly thought Subnautica, which is my second favorite game behind Elden Ring. definitely going to be giving it a try!
You should look into Subnautica: Below Zero if haven't already. It doesn't really change the overall gameplay from the first game, but it DOES give you a fresh set of biomes to explore.
I’ve played over 150 hrs and I can’t pick out too many things I don’t like. The best way for the creators to make the games better is to expand the yard further, possibly into the inside of the house making the game longer. I would like to also see more weapons/armor/mutation types with more combinations of maximizing DPS and I would like to see some sets become super powered. Lastly it would be nice if upgrading materials respawn and the shiny green Beatles were more common so the late game wasn’t such a grind.
I dont feel like the base attacks matters where your spawn point is. I have ziplines all over, and a base where you are in the video. Maybe 10 times now im ziplining from the sandbox to the base where you are then back to my main near the oak tree. That middle base I never set my spawn but get raid incoming as im almost back to my main base
Any new players planning to play grounded be aware the game is drastically different playing as a group. A lot of popular review videos are from the view of a single player. This game is not currently adjusted for a good multiplayer experience as is. Upgrade materials not responding in addition with being awarded with a single reward or unique item. So if you're going to play with kids get ready to have to hear about who gets to use what unique weapon. IMO multiplayer is currently the most broken part of this game currently.
Multiplayer whoa mode is completely unbalanced, i get one shot by ladybirds with full level 4 antlion armor. And those lil shits just LOVE to be right next to ox beatles on my playthrough. Which makes it a struggle when me and my friend are trying to get ox parts to make the armor
if they were to add more combat mechanics, new game plus, mod support and a procedurally generated mode i'd be the best game of all time no contest. right now it still is a fantastic game and the most creative one i've played as of late
