I'm sad how little views this video is getting, it is the best review video on grounded I have ever seen edit: never mind on little views the video has so many views now, to clarify when I watched it, it had only two thousand views.

Well to be fair this guy's review is a bit late. If he'd done this review like 2 years ago when it was arguably more popular would've been a better time
Dude this is perhaps one of the best reviews for Grounded, or any game, I've seen in a long while. You touched on everything that makes the game great and showed the games flaws in an understanding light. Well done sir!
I do enjoy survival games, but something about Grounded just grabbed me. I love the originality of it. It's well designed, after each session I've explored or discovered something new that leads to new recipes or mysteries to solve. The few times that's not going on, I'm building something, usually my main base which I expand on. I'm enjoying it so much that I've been playing it slow. Just hit the upper yard and I'm at the 200 hour mark. Playing single player. You created a great review here, hit all the important points and summed it up nicely. Great work!
This game is spectacular! As a Subnautica fan, Grounded made me feel at home. Enemies are relentless in the beginning, but that makes the progress feel even more special. The dandelion glider shouldn’t require equipping to work. Also the map markers shouldn’t require leaf clovers to build. Fall damage is exaggerated. A quick radial menu to change mutations mid battle would also be a welcome feature.
I haven't been really truly invested in a video game in years. I downloaded Grounded for Xbox after watching the Neebs gaming series on it. It's such an amazing game! I am blown away by the amount of stuff there is to do in the game and by how large and diverse the map is. One of the best games I've played in ages and I highly recommend it!
I've played it when it was just in early access. Two years later and it's insane how much they've added to the game. The story, progression, items, building, armor. There is so much to unlock and discover. I bet if I actually complete it and find all the weapons and build my main base I'm gonna come back to do it all over again.
@@XXLRebel same I played it when they first brought it to Xbox I played it on and off since then but I agree since they added a bunch of new stuff this game has never felt more fun on top of that series s/x compatible
14:41 some of the upper yard bugs are re-colored, because Microsoft force them to finish the game before they were actually ready, and it took them like five years to make most of the lower yard and they only had like six months to make the upper yard
100% best all around review I’ve seen on UA-cam. You’ve got talent young man. That aside I’ve played since the beginning as well and couldn’t agree more about the journey to full release. Most of which was spent co-op with close friends that created some of my fondest gaming memories. That initial adventure into the unknown, hours spent trying to figure out how to do something, the first encounter with a wolf spider and so on. I think what I like the most about the game is it’s ability to immerse the player in the world even with its cartoonish graphics and absolute absurdity as a whole. I can still feel the fear hearing those loud stomps, extinguishing my torch, crouching behind a small boulder to see the tree sized blades of grass spread in the moonlight exposing those long hairy spider legs. Very few games have been able to do that. To give me that full immersion I seek but rarely find these days. I’m grateful for Grounded, and look forward for what’s next from that team.
Thanks for mentioning the accessibility options. Knowing I can play with the spiders changed to look less scary or turned off completely helped me make up my mind to give this a try.
I wish they added mounts to this game. You can have a pet aphid, why not an animal you can ride? Something like a Jumping Spider, or a House Centipede.
As somebody who also very rarely enjoys survival games may I recommend the long dark. Which is not only a survival game I enjoy but Is so good in the feeling it sets out to give you it has clawed its way to my number one spot.
Yo this is a bad ass review I just started playing again recently and been into it more than the last time I was playing and I gotta say this game scares the shit out of me sometimes lol
One of if not the best game I played in 22 and also my most played game of 22. But I admit that was not on my first try as i failed miserably but so glad I stuck with it as the amount of tension and general fear you feel while trying to navigate an ant hill is amazing. The story is not handed to you and can be so rewarding when you accidentally discover something you need to make life easier but check your situation and realise that you have used all you health and healing items getting there and you now need to be very careful to get it back before dying. I couldn't recommend a game more after playing well over 300 hrs.
Fun fact: ladybugs will sleep under the leaves of dandelions. If you cut down the dandelion while she’s sleeping under it she will relocate to another dandelion to keep napping. This game is great! One of my favorites. Happy to have 100% it solo on medium.
i got into the game pretty early on in development as well and its cathartic to hear you parallel a lot of the thoughts i had on it. i love grounded--it quickly became one of my favorite games of all time and following it along during early access was such an unforgettable experience. i do get the impression that a decision was made to release the game a lot earlier than the developers initially anticipated, but i think what we ended up with is still pretty fantastic. here's hoping they continue to give it some love going into the future. this was such an amazing review 👏👏 your writing, delivery, editing, it's all great. i love your style, and the fact that you have 85 subs at the time of writing is absolutely outrageous--ill catch you at 10k
I, too, feel it was released a little bit too soon. As much as I love the yard overall, I felt that final update was missing something. Either way, the experiences I had with it, especially those in early access, I wouldn't change for the world. Thank you for supporting the video and the channel! See you at the 10K mark 😀
I had been following the making of Grounded for a little while and played it in early access through till its full release and I really enjoyed myself, I feel like there was lots of variety in the bugs you come across. I thought the world building and story was pretty good too, reading bits here and there to slowly world build really worked in my opinion. This is a good look at Grounded and presented very well :D
bro keep making videos. I SWEAR TO YOU, you just need 1 banger and you'll make it. This shit it too high quality and well done to get this little attention. It's criminal
Just beat most of the stuff the game has to offer and it's one of my favourite games at the moment. It gives me a bit more faith in Obsidian's future stuff, especially after I've also just beat this and Outer Worlds. I've played Minecraft for years and I've become jaded on it because it just feels pretty bland to me; exploration becomes monotonous and every new update brings very little to the table. Of course, there's modding but I don't feel interested in most mod packs I've seen. Grounded practically revitalized my interest in survival adventure because of the exploration and creature design. I hope that they release expansions to it like new maps to survive in but that'd be very expensive and time consuming for them to develop. My only issue with Grounded is that most of the stuff to unlock requires so much grinding that they're useless by the time you unlock them, like some mutations.
Really? This grindy mess is your favorite at the moment? If so cookie clicker is up your ally. Edit: really a game with little to no variation to it's landscapes/ environments is the opposite of boring but minecraft is "bland" you need to get your head checked.
my two favourite gaming content creators are yahtzee and matthewmatosis. there's the essence of both in here. well done, subbed, looking forward to more.
There is a new game out there that has been in development before Grounded and it just released into early access. Smalland has a similar premise of being tiny in a normal world. The map is enormous is freaking beautiful and its getting even bigger in a few days with an update. There is a Merchant and Armorers around the map that will build higher level armors. Not to mention there is a back story unfolding of the giants that lived there before the Small Folk.
One thing i would add that love about grounded is the relationship among creaturs and the way you can make the bugs to fight each other for fun or for any other reason.
Personally I have always struggled with actually completing survival games, games like Minecraft and ARK have never been able to hold my attention for long enough before my rampant ADHD spends 20 minutes running around the base doing fuck all, but with Grounded, something clicked, I first played Grounded back when it was an unfinished beta build on game pass back in July of 2020, in the 2 years it took for it to fully release, I followed it constantly, always playing each major update and exploring it in detail no matter how far the game still was from actually coming out and not being a beta build, something just clicked between me and grounded, I remember playing for the first time with my friend who i will refer to as Kal, it was simple, me and Kal were learning the ropes on what to do and how to do it, then night fell and we were both huddled inside a research station while a fucking Wolf Spider literally had one of its legs poking through the roof and was about one step away from coming into full view and murdering the both of us and I swear on god that was the most scared I have ever been in a game and from that moment I was hooked on grounded, granted after a few months Kal stopped playing and I eventually stopped talking to him due to my absolutely horrid social skills that keep me from even coming close to initiating a conversation but that's besides the point, even after he was gone and I was playing by myself, I still stuck around to it, fast foward to when the game comes out I grab another friend who i will refer to as Ghost and me and him make a new save to play on which was both for me wanting to see the game from start to finish no main save 200 hour bullshit and this was Ghosts first experience with Grounded, we both beat the game with little to no ADHD brain frying moments in my end, Grounded just had the uncanny ability to grab my attention and keep it without fail, better yet nothing in Grounded seemed unfair, everything could be done with just a tiny bit of planning which with the temporary execution of my ADHD was not a problem at all, granted the final wave defense to defend the MIX.R was some definitive bullshit at some points but thankfully that's nothing excessive mushroom wall spam can't fix, Grounded is probably the best survival game I have played and I wish I could have the experience of following it from beta to release again
Excellent video! I sure hope it brings in more views and subscribers for you dude. You put into words my exact feelings about the game and it’s wonderful to see so many people enjoy it as much as I do.
This is the first video i've watched from you and i'm already in love with your channel, it's just calm and fun no screaming and such and your voice really compliments your style! I'm definitely going to subscribe with the bell because if this is how your videos are I love it, great job man!
Indeed i still am watching. Great video. I am most definitely not a survival expert. This game tempted me in with it's awesome concept. They had a free weekend one June during early access. After it was over i had to buy it. I was hooked!
Really loved your commentary watched the whole way through to the end. Started grounded when it was first released on consle early access. Been a fan since. I loved the concept and environment setting the game was in. Enjoyed playing all the new updates as the game progressed. I'm very open minded on a lot of things, so I don't really have anything I would critique on the game with my experience. It was just something that peaked my interest and I liked it. Looking forward to seeing what you have in store for us next.
Thank you for your comment! Sounds like we've had similar experiences with the game as its grown. Glad you enjoyed the video, got a good few more coming out soon!
So surprised at how low your sub count is, but I imagine if you keep making videos that are this high quality, you'll get a dedicated following in no time. Awesome review, too :)
since one handed weapons are more efficient at stamina management and they are strong, shield is actually good for offensive since the fire ant shield is really strong
Well, you've earned my subscribe. Well-written script, nicely put together, has a beginning and an end. It's mostly factual while hinting it with your own opinions. That is the type of video I have always wanted to make. I love the game and I agree with you in most things you say, but I'm surprised and happy that I came across such a great video. Keep up the great work!
I think this game is horribly underrated, i've been gaming since the 90s and this easily cracks my top 5 games list, I like it so much I've purchased 3 copies in total, 1 for me and 2 for friends
I’ve always thought that this game was underrated and a really fun game. People are sleeping on it, especially if they’re into survival games. Those spiders are genuinely scary and I always try to avoid them by sneaking if I can, but when they start running after you😬
Dude I stayed since it’s first ever time on the Beta and I’ve loved every single step except when they removed standard quartzite. May she rest in piece.
I was not a fan of grounded I played it on release date (not the finished version mind u) the game was boring limited and it felt awful to play with its building mechanics. I actually really like survival games, so I was sceptical of this video. I am nothing if not an opinionist and I fully embrace that, just as I have embraced ur video, honestly I havent gone back to that game in years but you have convinced me to try it again, maybe I was too harsh, maybe I really didn't know what I was doing and just got lost, kept dying. Thank you even if I end up still not liking it, your video quality and depth truly was phenomenal. It might not mean much in the grand scheme but u gained a subscriber today :) hope to see more from u.
I have been playing grounded for a few years now on the test game and the fully released game is amazing! It’s fantastic and as a gamer who is old enough to remember the VERY first games this is defo a winner! Loads to do it your own time and challenges to keep it interesting. I have been playing and have very merry finished but I am still finding new little hidden places and rewards! I have done all the challenges only have the very final big battle to complete before getting big again but will be starting again in a new save to just build and survive for fun! No end of fun and challenges.
I feel that. A lot of games require creativity and the other aspects of the game I like, but when it comes down to creativity and base building...I suck at being creative lmao.
I definitely don’t recommend plugging the gas can. Gas Masks/Minty Defense are very easy & effective workarounds to the Haze, and you don’t have to deal with Infected Wolf Spiders (among other Haze encounters all over the yard) if you keep the gas flowing
The Infected Wolf Spiders are only in a couple areas. At the Oak Tree, Near a Berry Bush next to the Castle, and next to the green bag near the Termites. It’s very easy to avoid them plus once you actually get geared up they aren’t hard to kill at all. If you’re near the oak tree just build walls on each entrance and yo can just trap him inside. As for all the other Infected Creatures you can honestly go a whole play through not fighting a single one unless you’re in the haze area.
grounded is seriously an amazing game that i loved playing. but the downside is i cant play it anymore because i started having vivid dreams about the wolf spider chasing me lol
I do agree with the set bonuses feeling weak compared to the actual main progress armors.. Roly Poly, Ladybug, Acorn etc. A few other problems is the delay before you acquire Building materials.. In order to get mushroom you have to defeat the REDACTED in the REDACTED lab but at that point you're most likely already done with building your base. I feel this was placed like this for first time players only to get through the defense events. Same for the Large Stem Pallet that can carry 40 weed stems, you need Pinecones for that.. And if you've played the game for long enough, you know how late game those are.. Why would I need a 40 stem pallet that late in the game?! I'm already done building and done with having to use that many stems.
Short answer: Yes. On top of that you have absolutely nothing to lose, it’s completely free on Xbox live. You can easily get over hundreds of hours on this game if you play without any guides, and even then they’ll be a lot of hidden bosses and etc, and the graphics, as you can see, are pretty neat. Definitely worth a try, you can play with up to 4 players as well I believe.
i love this game, the only thing that I don't like is the late game due to how many new enemies are just reskins and the main villain being extremely underwhelming, still probably my favourite game ive played in 2022, just felt a little repetitive towards the end
Well its not new thing which i am going to say... Already many comments are there regarding this... Yet i will say... The best grounded review i had ever saw... starting from thumbnail to end... I bet even obsidian cant make a video like this about their game...
I'm sad how little views this video is getting, it is the best review video on grounded I have ever seen
edit: never mind on little views the video has so many views now, to clarify when I watched it, it had only two thousand views.
Very kind of you friend, thanks for watching!
It probably would have done far better a few months ago when there was a large spike of interest in grounded, (the 1.0 release)
I would say that this video might do well the next time grounded draws a bunch of interest to it / lots of new players checking it out.
Probably because of the title. I almost didn't click because of it. This game is great, and has been good since day one.
Well to be fair this guy's review is a bit late. If he'd done this review like 2 years ago when it was arguably more popular would've been a better time
He starts out by saying he doesn't like survival games. Most people who watch reviews look for reviewers that are like minded.
Dude this is such good quality. You managed to capture almost every opinion I have exactly. Good stuff dude.
Cheers mate!
Dude this is perhaps one of the best reviews for Grounded, or any game, I've seen in a long while. You touched on everything that makes the game great and showed the games flaws in an understanding light. Well done sir!
Cheers mate thank you for your kind words 👍🏻
Funnily enough there is now a radial menu to swap mutation loadouts on the go
@@Darkex72 spectacular developers. this game is underrated AF.
At least it’s not like raft, where I didn’t realize fall damage even exists until I fell off a huge cliff, and even then I was on half health

Gives me a The Forest type vibe, where it starts off as survival until you discover the experiments and futuristic tech that has now become abandoned
I loved The Forest but man was it depressing. A true horror game. Not for everyone although I'm pleasantly surprised by its popularity.
I 100%'d the game and I still come back to it. One of my all time favorite games. I do wish the story had a lil more cutscenes and dialogues.

Thank you for your comment! Sounds like we've had similar experiences with the game as its grown. Glad you enjoyed the video, got a good few more coming out soon!
nah i gotta subscribe, you deserve so many subs cos this is like a top tier review, idk why you was recommended but this is great
Thank you kindly 🙂
I'm almost shocked how little views this has (or how few subs you have). Absolutely great quality video!
Thank you! It was a lot of hard work given that I'm a YT noob 😂
Great video! And btw if you really need a graphic designer for your channel layout I can help lol
So surprised at how low your sub count is, but I imagine if you keep making videos that are this high quality, you'll get a dedicated following in no time. Awesome review, too :)
Thanks mate good to hear you liked it 🙂
Great review! I’ve been loving this game lately, my first impression was “this game is way too hard” and yet I kept coming back to it
Thanks mate 👍🏻
Tied with subnautica for best survival all time imo
since one handed weapons are more efficient at stamina management and they are strong, shield is actually good for offensive since the fire ant shield is really strong
Thanks mate I appreciate your comment 👍🏻
One of the best games I’ve ever played tbh
I liked this vid a lot, hope it brings you more exposure as you deserve it. I subbed.
Thanks for the support!
Ill never forget my first ox beetle encounter
I think this game is horribly underrated, i've been gaming since the 90s and this easily cracks my top 5 games list, I like it so much I've purchased 3 copies in total, 1 for me and 2 for friends
I’ve always thought that this game was underrated and a really fun game. People are sleeping on it, especially if they’re into survival games. Those spiders are genuinely scary and I always try to avoid them by sneaking if I can, but when they start running after you😬
This channel has super high quality videos for a small channel I hope you get some more subs
Cheers mate 👍🏻
Thanks for watching and subbing mate it helps out a lot! Really hope Grounded clicks with you this time around as well 👍🏻
Now this was a wonderful and through review! It makes me curious how your style would work if you actually did go into the story!
the main villain not trying to kill you the whole game actually does make sense since he doesn't know you exist until a certain point in the game
No end of fun and challenges.
nice cinematic, good production
I feel that. A lot of games require creativity and the other aspects of the game I like, but when it comes down to creativity and base building...I suck at being creative lmao.
Great coverage. Got my sub for sure. Keep up the good work and see you on the next one.
Much appreciated!
Congratulations on 502 million!!!!🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Cheers mate 😂 MrBeast will be getting nervous now!
Probably one of my favorite games of all time
This video is perfect. And ur voice is so soothing. Love it👍
Thanks you, that's high praise indeed! Us northerners aren't known for our soothing voices 😂
im personally not a fan of survival games but grounded has to be one of my favorite game that have come out in the last couple of years.
Was shocked by your sub count compared to your views, instant sub
Thanks mate I appreciate it and it helps out a lot 👍🏻
@@GunslingerNV of course
Quality vid. Have a like and sub. Keep up the good work.
Cheers mate thanks for the sub 👍🏻
I have played grounded at every stage and loved definitely my favourite survival game
Downloading tonight awesome vid bud
If this guy uploaded regularly, I really think he could be great.
I'm working to change that mate. Got 5 projects on the go at the minute. Next one releases this Wednesday
Amazing review! Subbed
After 1 year, he has returned.
😂 Hopefully here to stay this time!
0:26 you probably still build better than I ever have in the seven years I've played that game
I’m actually so angry that this video isn’t more popular!
i think its funny how none of the neighbors have noticed the giant grass tower in the neighbors backyard
Definitely worth a play through. I enjoyed it alot.
There are many an update coming, so I wouldn’t give up in that ice biome yet
I'm already done building and done with having to use that many stems.
i love survival games, and this is by far my favorite one
Short answer: Yes. On top of that you have absolutely nothing to lose, it’s completely free on Xbox live. You can easily get over hundreds of hours on this game if you play without any guides, and even then they’ll be a lot of hidden bosses and etc, and the graphics, as you can see, are pretty neat. Definitely worth a try, you can play with up to 4 players as well I believe.
Spicy Safety may or may not have reduced explosive damage taken in the past, but since at least 1.0 it does not.
definitely slipped under the radar. I am new to the survival genre. I grind. I like it but damn. Knowledge helps.
I'd be interested to see you play Subnautica 1 since I assume you haven't played much survival games
UA-cam just decided to reccomend this to me which is intresting.
i love this game, the only thing that I don't like is the late game due to how many new enemies are just reskins and the main villain being extremely underwhelming, still probably my favourite game ive played in 2022, just felt a little repetitive towards the end
Grounded and subnautica are similar games, and I love them both
Grounded was a nice little tease while waiting for ark 2. I loved the game but made me want to play ark hella
great review
This is amazing thank you so much for this review
Well its not new thing which i am going to say... Already many comments are there regarding this... Yet i will say...
The best grounded review i had ever saw... starting from thumbnail to end... I bet even obsidian cant make a video like this about their game...
Kind of you to say that regardless, thanks for watching mate 👍🏻
Fantastic review!
I love the survival jjarah
