That’s just oppositional without thought. I own this bike and buying the bottle is no big deal when up look at the spec and the fact that this is a downhill, bike park bike that has a category 5e bombproof frame. I don’t think that was explained enough in the review. It’s not a trail bike, and being a gravity bike the water bottle won’t fly out.
I bought this bike (the Ken Roczen version) and i really like it. That water bottle is just mint. I updated the Zeb fork to 190mm for a tat more ground clearance on the BB and put some 145mm PINND cranks arms on it to prevent pedal strikes. Now this is the bike that can do it all. From 80+km XC rides to Trail/Enduro and Bikepark laps. I also own a Commencal Power Meta Trail, but i hardly touch it anymore. Rock solid bike! 💯❤
The water bottle is the only thing turning me off buying this beast, if only someone made some clean shroud that covers it or maybe a shroud with integrated tool kit or something.

I ordered an e-bike from Canyon. Bike turned up with no keys. I asked for the keys to be sent out but they said it was not possible and the bike had to be returned with no date on a replacement bike. They then took a couple of months to return my money. Customer service was terrible. I would never order from them again.
There are so many stories like this that keep me from buying their bikes. A normal bike with fewer parts, like a gravel bike I could get behind, I don't need much support and can do everything myself. But an e-bike? No way.
I have this Canyon and another e bikes. My other bike was twice as much as the canyon. My Canyon is 51lbs with the 700 series battery. I made several modifications, rims,155 cranks, and thin pedals to help with strikes. It turns on a dime. Hate on the bike because of the water bottle set up, but give it a ride if you can.
just to give everyone who doesn't ride an Ebike a good idea of the real world range on a 900wh battery on the canyon spectral ON with the new ep801....i'm about 225 with all my bike gear on, i did just under 21 miles, 3310 elevation gain, and had about 20% left on the battery. I ran it in boost on the service roads and trail on the descents. I find i like eco or trail even on the downs. sometimes you run into flatter connecting trails before going back down, or even small punchy climbs, and having the motor on, just makes it that much faster and easier.
I love mine. I have this same exact bike and it is great from XC to bike park. I am a season pass hold at a ski lift bike park and this rides like a DH bike. This is like a mini YT Tues and the rear end looks like it too. $4800 US no tax no shipping for Black Friday sale

For all those that dislike the water bottle top tube. I have this bike and have simply applied some contact/car wrap over it. You wouldn’t know otherwise. However it would be nice if Canyon would manufacture a blank insert to fit if you decided the water bottle idea is not for you.
I own this bike and nice review. The motor is less important than what this bike is designed for which is gravity, bike park, and downhill. I ride downhill a lot and never hit the bottom bracket and for jumps the lower BB height makes this bike one of the best jumpers on the market, so raising the BB would ruin the bikes intended use. I think you could’ve explained more on what the bikes purpose is vs talking about the motor. People that buy a bike just for the motor really aren’t looking at the whole picture because all the motors are pretty good out there and you need to ask yourself does the frame / spec if the bike fit your needs and your riding style. This bike fits mine needs perfectly because I like gravity flow trails downhill. It will do technical climbs just fine, but that is not its intended use. you take the fire road up or the easy trail and then you bomb down with confidence due to that low center of gravity.

Press brief from canyon -> Rob, please downplay bosch, please up play Shimano EP8 and cable XT gears - avoid talking about how perfect Specialized is, how great AXS is and dont mention that their product is sold out because of it.
That water bottle makes it a big no from my dog. Functionally I don’t love it, I know the sloshing would annoy the F out of me, and aesthetically it looks awful.
Nice bike! I think big travel e-bikes make so much sense. Just one thing Rob: I think you got it wrong about the low BB making a bike easier to tilt around. It is actually quite the opposite. The lower the mass, the more it tends to stay upright (think of roly-poly toys) So actually a low BB makes a bike more stable and predictable, but also harder to lean very fast from side to side. IMO canyon made a mistake with such a low BB, ebikes should benefit from a couple extra mm in that area. The bike would be still very planted because of the weight. But you would have less pedal strikes and it would add a little more lively attitude to it Just my 2 cents, awesome video as always, love your work!
The motor and bottle are a deal breaker. Bosch or Pinion MGU and belt drive would be great, and get rid of the bottle. I wear a pack and would never use that bottle. It’s too much weight up high and in front.
I like the agressive styling but thats about where i lose interest. #1 the water bottle is dumb! its not where you want weight and you have to buy the water bottle seperate! The bike also looks terrible with out it. #2 It still has a cassette get a pinion gearbox on that thing.
Looks like a great bike... but the very aspect that they've focused the whole design around, is the very thing completely putting me off...and you can't opt out of it.

looking into getting the Strive ON UNDERDOG , thinknibjust might do it ,it has the bosch
When you can't get a replacement water bottle in 5 years the whole bike is going to landfill 🤣
That's why you buy a spare one with the bike if you are smart. 😜
"Could probably ride all day on Turbo, haven't tested it yet" what's the point of a 15min vid then?
I demo'd one of these and it's an amazing bike, if it had the Bosch cx motor it would be perfect, the Shimano just isn't for me.
Press brief from canyon -> Rob, please downplay bosch, please up play Shimano EP8 and cable XT gears - avoid talking about how perfect Specialized is, how great AXS is and dont mention that their product is sold out because of it.
Canyon warranty is a hard pass for me.
That water bottle makes it a big no from my dog. Functionally I don’t love it, I know the sloshing would annoy the F out of me, and aesthetically it looks awful.
Where we can parches this cycle
Nice bike! I think big travel e-bikes make so much sense.
Just one thing Rob: I think you got it wrong about the low BB making a bike easier to tilt around. It is actually quite the opposite. The lower the mass, the more it tends to stay upright (think of roly-poly toys)
So actually a low BB makes a bike more stable and predictable, but also harder to lean very fast from side to side.
IMO canyon made a mistake with such a low BB, ebikes should benefit from a couple extra mm in that area. The bike would be still very planted because of the weight. But you would have less pedal strikes and it would add a little more lively attitude to it
Just my 2 cents, awesome video as always, love your work!
This bike in 3 years with DJI motor and 1000wh battery with 20kg is going to be the best! 😂
Rob, seems your arm show signs of the missing weight on the front wheel 🤫
Космический аппарат... 😎🔥🔥🔥👍
100% this would sell a lot better without the water bottle integration.
I like it!
I love this e bike
Water bottle raising the center of gravity up? No thanks
I wished I’d bought one of these instead of a Kelly’s Theo’s which has now snapped across head tube 😤
shimano should start making shorter crank arms..
Bb is so low. I had to fit 160 cranks right away
The motor and bottle are a deal breaker. Bosch or Pinion MGU and belt drive would be great, and get rid of the bottle. I wear a pack and would never use that bottle. It’s too much weight up high and in front.
Triangle bottles are the future. I’ve been saying this for years.
🤣
It's kinda crazy to point out that the water bottle stands on its own 🤯
I like the agressive styling but thats about where i lose interest. #1 the water bottle is dumb! its not where you want weight and you have to buy the water bottle seperate! The bike also looks terrible with out it. #2 It still has a cassette get a pinion gearbox on that thing.
The bottle looks ridiculous, one of the reasons i didn't buy the bike.
that water bottle just kill the bike
Can you grab an orange patriot to test please
The water bottle is a waste of tech ! You don't need to re- invent the wheel !
Looks like a great bike... but the very aspect that they've focused the whole design around, is the very thing completely putting me off...and you can't opt out of it.
Personally I don’t like the water bottle rest looks ok though
Ya tuhan bagus sekali sepedanya, sekalipun bekas gak apa2 yang penting punya😊
Cool cool, to bad it rattles.
No belt driven, no integrated gearbox, not intrested...
Same lol that tech is taking over the market it's just leaps above in durability!
I think you love this bike 😂
Omg this water bottle stuff 🤦♂️. Who are these people so concerned about their damn water bottle.. any serious MTBer carries a camelback.
$7k hell nah 💰💰💰
