I own the nicolai since a month. It has changed everything. It’s so fast and so incredibly, ridiculously, capable on steep technical climbs. The gearbox is a gamechanger, most of the time I ride in full automatic mode. Fun fact: you don’t feel the weight at all!🎉❤
Happy New Year Rob, after 5 years + more 20k kms on E-enduros(scott ransom, orbea rise, mondraker dune r),now riding Cannondale MoterraSL( low + slack,19.5kg) =absolute shredmachine. sunny greetings fromPortugal
That was a very comprehensive list of great e-MTBs . I went for the value for money Cube One77 Slx at £4500 . Would love to see you do a review as In my opinion it's killer value for money and proper enduro geometry.Only issue so far is the seat post slammed is not low enough for proper steep enduro trails in the tweed valley . 😊
7:50 I've heard from my friend who has focus on fazua that fazua solve the problem and now they improved the motor assembly process. He had also 3 motor replacements and from last one it just works.
will you have to be adding the new 2025 Specialized Turbo levo Gen 4 to the list when its officially released which we know you have been riding n testing lol
Hope you get to test the new Cube one77. I know it isnt a dream bike, but the value is insane. I wonder how close it gets to the orbea or crestline despite equivalent builds being almost half the cost.
2025 looks to be a good year for e-bikes. I’m looking forward to your reviews of the Wild and Crestline. I’ll most likely upgrade e-bikes later this year so I’m also curious to see what else comes out.
don't be mislead by the amflow "from 19.2Kgs" a max spec is 22+Kgs yes lighter than the competitors but not by much you can find bosch bikes at 23.9kgs good on DJI to advertise they are category 4 (which most ebikes are but not all cat4 means the highest drop-jump is 4.72inch or 1.20m cat5 is all out jumps you recognize them from being more expensive for seemingly below spec, they usually have no display for example as floppy displays are not compatible with cat5 which requires no dangly bits)
Happy New Year Rob and Congratulations on 1 million subscribers! Great Video as always! My favourite emtb is the Crestline! I cant afford one but joined the Crestline forum on facebook ages ago so I can drool over the pictures of owners bikes! I know I'm sad arent I! I still have a mint condition Xduro Nduro Pro Haibike its 10 years old this year! The Battery is still charging to 100% I have it in my living room as it's still very eyecatching!
I skipped thought the video to the Nikolai and paid close attention. Not for bike itself it for the Pinion and Gats belt combo. That is definitely a game changer. I was in the market for a new eMTB and almost bought a Specialized for close to $10K when I came across the Pinion a year ago or so. Glad I didn’t. I waiting for the tech to be adopted by US bike manufacturers. The others bikes on this list are, well, obsolete tech.
Happy new year Rob! Loving your videos! I've got a 2022 Simplon Rapcon Pmax and could not be happier with it. It's an Incredible bike in my opinion, I always look forward to getting out on it every time! I am surprised not to see much about them on here though! All the best, Adrian
Rob can you get a statement or something from Fazua. I've asked them about their reliability through Instagram comments and they said it was only the early models that had problems but people still seem to complain about replacing motors.
I have had an issue with every single Fazua bike resulting in having to change motors. My experience has been terrible with that motor. I will ask for some info from Fazua.
I've heard from my friend who has focus on fazua that fazua solve the problem and now they improved the motor assembly process. He had 3 motor replacements too and from last one it just works. I've talked also with shop owner who sell ebikes mainly full power but also with fazua (focus and santa) and he confirmed that currently there is no problems with fazua, and If there is any their their warranty process is hassle-free and much more faster than bosch or shimano. He says that he stops selling bicycles based on the shimano system bc of how their guarantee process works and how many rejected warranty claims he had from shimano compared to bosch. It wasn't a big number, less than couple % but still, he says bosch or fazua just replace if something happens during warranty period. I am currently in the process of purchasing new ebike, previous was on shimano ep8, gladly after 1,700 km without any problems but I will definitely avoid bikes on shimano mainly due to their approach to after warranty repairs as they do not sell any spare parts to any EP motors.. and I want to try something new ;]
Rob, not sure you can recommend a bike thats had reliability issues like the decoy. There are plenty of other bikes out there. Personally Im looking forward to the new Forbidden.
I did think long about this one. I really like the bike. I also know people who have had no issues at all with Fazua and many faultless miles. Maybe I’m unlucky! I hope they have a rolling change soon that can fix these issues.
@lforrest14 thanks fore that answer. Its because im coming from a full power bike. So im a bit concerned about going to TQ. But my next bike shall be all about the down hill fun 😁
@@Kurt.1980 For a bit of note, I have a full power Rocky Mountain instinct, one of the most powerful Class 1 emtb motors. After trying the Slash+ I was blown away. Sure not as much power, but I did not need it, climbed everything with plenty of energy and the big bonus was everywhere else. Amazing. So I know it too and my RM is a loaner bike when taking friends out.
I think where DJI/Amflow also deserve credit is including a portable battery out of the box, without paying a fortune for a “range extender”. It really does put other manufacturers to shame.
Happy New Year Rob. I would love a full review on these please , cannondale moterra sl and the cube stereo hybrid one77 hpc slx 800 I cant decide which one to buy. Thanks Rob
The DJI engine is definitely a game changer, though because of the novelty we don't have long term reliability data, and currently it's only mounted in their Amflow bikes that at least in my country (Spain) are not available for sale at this moment, as if you try to purchase one in their page it just ask you got your email so to notify you when it's available. The Pinion e12.1 it's also awesome and I think that's how the future of e-MTB transmission looks like, but for now it's too expensive. Let's hope to see more and less expensive systems like these in the future.
Have you ridden the Trek Slash +? I dismissed it as the motor is small, however I have not ridden any ebike that rides like the Slash+, it was amazing. It handles so well, feel so smooth and the smaller motor did not matter, I actually enjoyed it more. So stealth, so quiet and the battery lasted well in to 30+ mile (48+km) rides.
I have the Santa Cruz Vala and absolutely love it. Can you tell me what bottle cage and pump holder this is please on the clip? I’ve been looking for the exact set up.

The Crestline is the dream bike for sure...also, I am curious about the new bike from Forbidden, it is going to be an e Dreadnaught with the DJI motor, due to be released on June
You aren't recommending the Dengfu? I just built up my Dengfu E82 after watching Your videos and doing a lot of research. I Love it and there's nothing like building your own eBike. 😁🤘🏻
All ebikes with less than 800mw batt is pointless for me personally. We want to ride for 4 to 6 hours. No use for a 100nm motor with a small battery. I'll take a 50nm motor with 1000 my battery and internal gearing system. Hassle-free and whole day riding.
I see that DJI AmFlow has what looks like an optical disc on the back, how is that going to cope with the heavy mud a lot of us have to endure in the UK? I have visions of those cutouts filling up with sticky mud/clay within minutes of hitting the trails near me.
Hi Rob, first of all happy new year and thanks so much for all these videos. I'm probably going to buy my first e-bike this year, I've had 30 years of analogue mountain biking and I ride an amazing tuned 2019 Scott Ransom 900 bought for my 50th birthday! Integrate DJI system into SN YT Decoy and you will kill all competition.
Who the heck is AMflow ?
They are DJI’s own frame company… set up to introduce the drive system.
Why do you never feature Whyte bikes, Rob?
That is definitely going to change this year! I have plans 👍
