People were slagging this bike when it was first introduced by Honda, I guess that's not the case anymore is it? For the amount of technology this bike has I don't think there's anything else better for the money. Honda made this almost a dream come true 👍 well done Mark for the great review as usual.

@@Tondaloona03 "Thanks for making my point"? I think you must be deluded, I have not made your point. You have totally contradicted yourself.
Neither of the two Bentley's I purchased were cheap, nor was the modern Rolls Royce Ghost I purchased cheap.
I am not sure why you think because something is cheap it means it will be unreliable. I have run a £500 Peugeot 106 diesel that never missed a beat, and a £100,000 Bentley that was forever needing attention.
Maybe you just have an issue with Honda motorcycles? Maybe you are just a twat. I suspect the latter.

I've just put a deposit down on a black CB750 Hornet. I tend not to look too deeply at reviews and always test ride a bike and judge for myself. Now looking at your review, having not seen it before, I would agree with everything you said. I didn't opt for the end can as it was an additional £900!!!!!!. Like the two previous Honda's I've owned I imagine the speed will exaggerate by 10% so that 70mph at 4000 revs will probably be 63mph at 4000, which is still good.

Great review and riding habits! I watch a lot of riding fail type videos to train myself to spot hazards; but most of the times the greatest hazards are the riders speeding between cars in traffic, intersections and highways, taking twisties wide, etc. You’re one of the few reviewers who can talk and keep his hands on the handlebar at the same time.

Thanks as always for the review, Mark. I took one for a test ride yesterday here in Sydney, about 50ks on familiar urban and country roads. It didn't do much for me. If i was coming off a smaller bike maybe but compared to my z900RS it felt cramped, rode harshly, and lacked power. I was debating whether to continue on the demo after about 5k but thought I'd see how it went on the open road. Wind protection was surprisingly good as you found. But having to rev it over 4,000 RPM for any urgency didn't suit my riding style. Not a bike i could live with.

Brilliant as ever. Some quite tall people have reviewed the bike. I was waiting for yo to do it as your the same height as I am. It appears to be totally ideal? One question, which bike would you prefer, the CB650R (mine) or the new Hornet? I've never really cared what a bike is called but, my bike is more of a Hornet than the new bike is. I would guess that the only important thing is the relative performance.

at 6'1" and 18 stone I think I might be a bit too big for the Hornet!!😀
Only thing about the Transalp I don't like the sound of is the tubed wheels,
hopefully they might do a version with 17/19 inch cast wheels at some point, that engine seems ideal to me for this category and the times we live in, lightweight bike with plenty of power and great fuel economy.

Another lovely review Mark. My current short-list consists of two Hondas. 2023 CL500 Scrambler (in Green) which comes out (came out in April 2023) and this Hornet. As others have said this Hornet (Sheikh the Hive, see what I did there?) is much like the CB500F with that very beaky looking beak. So much power without the roads to use it on here in the UK (legally). Is it better to ride a slow bike fast or a fast bike slowish. So the CL500 Scrambler (I know, totally different from this mid powered naked), which I look forward to your review, may do it for me. That being said, this engine/price combo in the Neo Sports Cafe look such of the CB650R may have persuaded me to go and order one immediately but you can't argue that this is an outstanding motorcycle. Keep them coming MP and Honda!

Great review as usual. One of the few modern "standard" bikes I would consider purchasing, so naturally, it's not available in the states where I live. It's grasping at straws, but it's a little odd that Honda did not put an inner rear fender on the bike, so it's going to run "dirtier" because of that.

Nice review & a heck of a lot of bike for the money but I just can't excited when looking at it. I know it's subjective but it just seems a bit bland & budget looking to me. Rightly or wrongly if I'm buying a bike I want it to look good too which is all part of the appeal. Presumably the main reason it's so cheap is Honda's use of existing CB style plastics which does it no favours as a new bike imo. They've should've made it more individualistic & edgy but for the price they'll still sell loads of them regardless.

Excellent review Mark as ever ,I like this one I like the price even the looks as I am not into the angular looks of today . I could well see myself testing one later this year as I am thinking of adding to my garage , and it is at the price of other twins you could buy used .good amount of horses which I will say isn't far off my current bike which has a bigger engine so like it . I understand the price is a little cheaper without the quick shifter "correct me if I am wrong'' never had one of those so would it be necessary I ask ? .👌👍

This looks stunning for the money. Back in my day all 750s were 4 pots. I used to ride the Yamaha FZ750. It cost me 3 grand used back in 1988. It was a lot of money in them days. Zero rider aids, single disc brake. How I never totalled it I'll never know because I used to thrash the living daylights out of it.

Yes, car drivers will start ignoring a lit indicator. Drivers will get too busy/lazy to wait for it to flash and will become (subconsciously anyway) far too used to pulling out on a lit indicator. I mentioned this to TMF on his review of the bike and he quoted some research that showed common bright colours get ignored with common usage. Well done The Missenden Flyer for putting in the effort to dig out this research!

But, here's the but, since watching your review and it was the very 1st of many I watched back in 2022, I've actually fallen in love with the Honda NC750 DCT, it just won't leave my head, it seems the perfect bike for me, when I'm finally able to be able to afford it, its definitely the bike I'll be getting, I've not even ridden or seen it in the flesh so to speak, but I will get one eventually as its on my bucket list.

Seems a cracking bike for the money. Nic colour scheme. Honda build quality is not what it was. CB1000R doesn’t have very durable engine paint as it all came off AndyManCam’s bike. Older Hondas have excellent build quality.
Rivals to this I am thinking Triumph Street Triple, KTM 790 Duke, Aprilia 660 Tuono.
