    I have an f30 320d which was manufactured in November 2015. According to Bimmerlink, it now only charges to 63% so I think a new battery will be needed before the winter. Two years ago it used to charge to 82%, so the decline in capacity seems to speed up as they age.

      You're correct, the batteries degrade over time and doesn't charge to full capacity after a few years. Mine in the video was 5 years old and it could only charge around %65 and wouldn't hold charge for long. In reality, we should replace the batteries every 5 years without question for a piece of mind.

      You're welcome, and thank you for your comment.
      Ista battery registration is not too complicated but app registration is way easier than ista. Also, not many people use ista, so that's the reason I preferd this method which is much cheaper and easier.

    Hi there. Thank you so much.
    I've got 2015 model 320. It was standing for quite a while. Replaced the battery this morning. But now there is two questions.
    Question one, Where do you put the small gas pipe? And second question, I've got a small little black wire now hanging which I don't know where it is suppose to go. Maybe you know? It's very small. Car still doesn't want to start. Haven't done the "Trip" register method yet. Car is cranking and wants to start but just doesn't want to turn over. Is it perhaps that small little black wire?

    I just watched your video and I am looking at replacing the same battery in your video with the same Bosch battery for me 320d F30. Question is… why did you not register new values? The new battery was higher amp so doesn’t the alternator need to know this from the ECU so it pre longs the life of the battery?

    • @bmwsolutions7880
      @bmwsolutions7880  2 роки тому +2

      You can change the values using Bimmercode, then register it with new values using Bimmerlink. I just wanted to keep the process simple. Also registering with higher values will make your alternator work longer and possibly reduce the life time (which is not a big deal in reality).

    Hi
    I've got the same Bluetooth adapter as you and for some reason it works with bimmercode but doesn't work with bimmerlink. Connection fails when I'm trying to use bimmerlink. Any idea what could be the issue?

    • @bmwsolutions7880
      @bmwsolutions7880  2 роки тому

      Hi, I think I remember same thing happening to me in the past. As far as I can remember, switching from bimmercode to bimmerlink (vice versa) is not seamless as the adaptor not recognising the switch correctly, so make sure you disconnect then take out the adaptor first, then try again.

    I just bought a bmw 328i GT..will the weak battery cause the random ABS Light and the electronic wing to promp in the meter cluster?tq

    • @bmwsolutions7880
      @bmwsolutions7880  2 роки тому

      What do you mean by "weak battery?" Is it not charging up properly? Or battery state of health is low? In my case, it was a low state of health in the battery test, so it put the car in limp mode. In your case, I suggest you carry out a scan and see if your problem is linked to bad sensors or bad battery.

    Hi. Thanks for the information. My old battery is 90Ah. Now i’m gonna replace it with a 95Ah and different brand battery. So my question is, will there be any future problem with registering it via bimmerlink app and standart OBD2 adapter?
    ps: My car is F30 3.20i 2012

      Hi, you're welcome👍 you're going to do exactly what I did in the video, so there will be no problem in the future at all. Make sure you buy an AGM battery, brand doesn't matter, bimmerlink or bimmertool app should do the registration as long as you have a compatible obd2 adaptor.

    • @bmwsolutions7880
      @bmwsolutions7880  Рік тому

      Hi there, you can easily replace the battery on any F series and register it with Bimmerlink or Bimmertool. You don't need to change any Amperage values when registering.

    • @bmwsolutions7880
      @bmwsolutions7880  3 роки тому

      Sounds like your car's not charging the battery properly as it doesn't recognise the battery. Registration of battery would solve the problem.

    Thanks for the clip, very helpful! It is possible that because of the battery the all-wheel drive can be deactivated, can the vtg actuator be coded with that module?
    I have a BMW f30 320xd, some time ago I received an error on board (Driving Stabilisation), the car now only enters comfort mode and I have traction only on the rear wheels, after some investigations I found the following code: 48097D (Transfer box - open clutch position, rear drive only), I mention that the failure occurred in the morning immediately after starting the engine. The car has no transfer case symptoms, (ATC35L) no strange noises.
    The tires are identical and match, the electrical fuses were checked, the new actuator was coded with ISTA, it worked without problems for 3 days, I tried a recalibration with ISTA but it no longer allows, the error is permanent
    The car is from 11.2013 and has 292000km, the first owner changed the entire transmission in 2016 under warranty in Germany
    I thought maybe the clutch in the VTG was worn out. At first I thought it was the actuator and replaced it but the error came back after 3 days.
    Sincerely, Octavian!

    Hi mate quick question i have a 4series 420D 2014 plate brought fairly recent i realised a short while after buying my car would need to press the start button a few times for it to start drives absolutely fine when it starts i took it to BMW they said diagnosed it said the battery bracket was loose and wasnt sending enough power to starter motor this was in Jan since they fixed it started no issues at all fast forward to now the problem has come back would you suggest getting the battery replaced with a more stronger durable one? Cheers

    • @bmwsolutions7880
      @bmwsolutions7880  2 роки тому +1

      Hi Omar, if your battery is 5 years old it is best to replace it. Your F36 has around 20 ECUs and lots of other electronics that rely on a health battery. If it's not that old, I'd suggest you use a sand paper to clean the contact points on the battery and the leads, then observe the fault code again. Kepp me updated on that, so we can solve it one way or another 👍

    • @bmwsolutions7880
      @bmwsolutions7880  2 роки тому

      Hi, I assume you're referring to the new battery registration using the app. Unfortunately it is a must have process to tell your car that a new battery is installed. By doing so, the alternator will charge it at the correct rate and time which is important to keep the battery healthy. Otherwise, your battery will degrade early and you'll have to buy another one. In rare occasions, car can go into limp mode as well if ECUs can't receive precise information from the intelligent battery sensor due to the unregistered battery.

    Hello, I would like to change the OEM 90 Ah AGM battery to a 95 Ah AGM battery. I also would change the value in bimmercode FEM to 95 Ah. But the only option is 90 Ah or 105 Ah. Can I put a custom value (95 Ah) in bimmercode? Thanks.

    • @bmwsolutions7880
      @bmwsolutions7880  Рік тому +1

      Hi, very good point and I experienced exact same thing when bought a new 95ah battery. Unfortunately, there's no option in bimmercode to change that value. As you saw in the video, I registered the new battery with same values. Been using it since and didn't have any issues. At the end of the day 5ah difference is not an issue, the alternator needs to run another a few mins to compensate that difference.

      @bmwsolutions7880  3 роки тому

      You're welcome.
      Yes there are options to change amperage for a higher capacity but you need to change it with bimmercode. Only then you can register it with bimmerlink. Nevertheless, between 90 and 95ah batteries are recommended since bmw components are sensitive to changes.

      Thanks for the source, but is far from being a reference video for a few reasons;
      1- the car is a 2008 E series and 2013 video which is not related to 2016 F series in 2021.
      2- He doesn't explain why he attached the battery charger
      3- He didn't register the new battery despite there was a need for it. He claimed in his comments that he didn't have any issues afterwards which is not professional in my eye.
      4- Although I'm not a professional, I always go through bmw ista+ repair and maintenance guide to take extra care for my car. I then try to give as much reference points as possible in my videos for not guiding viewers in the wrong direction.
      5- So many comments on his video are left unanswered, so no one should take into account such videos (even if they claim to be professionals)
      Finally, there are times that you need to put your car on sleep mode, so you need to disconnect the battery for 30 min in F series which I did a few times during some coding sessions. It is perfectly fine to disconnect and reconnect it with or without battery replacement. However, there are times that we need to use a battery charger before doing any work, I clearly point out those key areas in my other videos.
      My advise is that, information is available from reliable sources, we just need to find it, rather than watching a few videos and attempting same work. Best source is always Bmw Ista+ guide.
      I wish you all the best and take care.✌
