Best C4D tutorial channel, hands down. This channel needs more subscribers. Clear, concise, and I love the assumption that we are not idiots and your pacing is perfect.
that last tip about the camera vs cursor mode was really helpful. I've been running into that issue for the longest time and didn't know there was a way around it. Thanks for the tip!
8:05 - You saved me from the constant frustration... i'm a noob in C4D. Will be looking forward to watching more of your content. Hopefully will get some tips on this version im using which is R21
Big up, from the mid west. I've learned a lot just from two of your clips. Love how you said that you'll go meet them up and teach them. I wish you were in the states, man.
First I thought it's gonna be another R19 viewport updates but these were invaluable. Thank you Here are some topics that I would looooooooove to see you cover - Substance to C4D workfliow - Mulitpass Compositing - Fluid Simulation - Ways to get interesting looks alternative to Sketch and Toon because I just gave up on rendering something realistic out of physical. my work have been flat 2D stuff for the most part since I realized that getting octane is crucial for realistic rendering.
Last secret about the camera mode is golden, especially with the insert key to switch temporarily back to cursor mode, but, i had put it this way : 'page up arrow' = camera mode, 'page down arrow' = cursor mode, so i can toggle between the two easily. But i will need to find better keys because i hate having to cross the keyboard with my left hand :)
Thank you so much for explaining all these tips....Can you make some kind of tutorial which involves hdri skies where if I like create a room and use lights using hdri skies then how will I match the lighting in the inside and the hdri sky so that the sky doesn't look like image rather it looks like its something that was created inside Cinema 4D
This is usually more a question of what source images you use for outside the windows. Generally you should never use the hdri image itself as it will almost certainly not have enough resolution, you'll need a specific photo.. The next point is to match the angle of your render with the photo, but again, that's always just a question of photo choice.
Select the sky with the hdri, add a compositing tag and turn off: seen by camera; seen by transparency; and seen by refraction. Now you can add any background in you wish.
3DFluff oh sorry I didn't tell you but I am using Corona Renderer to render things so in that I am not able to hide the background of the hdri even using corona's compositing tag and doing the same
Thanks for that. I just wanna know if there is a way to link the default render camera to another view. Let's suppose you have two views side-by-side and you want your render view on the right, how can we do that?
hi thx again, for all, i want to say that when the render setting are set to ProRender, the lights doesn't work,Details and Visibility are grey and can't adjust. You must set the Rendersettings to Standard or Physical to fix it. Kim.
+ do you know a way to change view mode around a selected object you are working on, and the object stay 'centered' and the same 'size'? so i can see it from top, right, front etc with just keys? I see guys doing that in 3Ds max and it's pretty useful^^
Your best bet would be to enable viewport synchronization in the preferences then use F1 - F4 to switch views. This will maintain zoom and positions for the camera.
hey i just got my hands c4d R21. And when I open the software the viewport is totally black and doesnt show any objects. Even though the objects panel shows the object. Can some give me a solusion?
A full keyboard has an insert or ins button. If you are using a laptop you will need to read the manual to find the insert key, or open the c4d preferences and rebind what the insert key does.
Can Anybody Help Me! I Can't Select Anything In The Camera View, How I Can Fix This?? I Can't Select Objects Polygons ANYTHING!! Only In The Object List In The Right Side!!!
On the left toolbar, make sure you have the model tool selected (cube at the top) and on the top toolbar, make sure you have something like the move tool selected (yellow cross icon)
1.xxx updates are for new features x.1xx updates are for bug fixes x.x1x updates are for changing things around slightly, just to annoy you. x.xx1 updates are for inserting new spyware code for the NSA
WHAT IF YOUR STUPID KEYBOARD DOESNT HAVE AN INSERT KEY SO YOU CAN'T GET RID OF THAT STUPID GREEN CURSOR? THEN WHAT? WHERE IS THIS DUMB SUPER STUPID BUTTON IN C4D?
no body explains Cinema 4D like you do. you rock!

I use HDRI image to light the scene up but then I can't stop or disable the background of HDRI being shown in the scene
Select the sky with the hdri, add a compositing tag and turn off: seen by camera; seen by transparency; and seen by refraction. Now you can add any background in you wish.

How do you show the perspective grid? example from the box to its vanishing points 2points or 3 points perspective?
If only everyone was more interested in teaching than inflating their ego, we'd all be pros by now! Thanks!

Have you been on american idol? You seem...familiar.
In the latest version the viewport is just black, how do I fix this
99% likely a driver problem, update your gfx card drivers
The best!
