I really like that he understood right away that if his voice was the tool to provide a living, you have to treat it like a business and get your name out to as many customers as possible. He worked. He worked hard.

I just wanna let you know sir David that you've changed my life. You are an inspiration to me. Coming from a Muslim family, it was really hard for me being an only-Christian living in one compound. Friends left me, families disregarded me, fellow Islam judged and hated me. I mean the judgements and all was very painful. I felt hopeless but I know Jesus has never forsaken me. And then he introduced me to your music. Your music helped me to get through it all and now half of my family watches me every time I sing gospel songs in front of people. You're music was like an anchor to me keeping me stable from the storm. I listen to your music everyday sir. You, the Gaithers, Heritage Singers and other artist. You guys helped me fight my battle while believing God is right by my side. THANK YOU SO MUCH for sharing your God given talent with us. Looking forward for more tips from you.. Godbless!

Take note: It's music expertise mixed with business savvy (finding more opportunities). This is why David is where he is... (1) He gave his life to his gift, (2) he listened to others and learned from them, (3) he became a musical and vocal expert/genius, (4) he found multiple opportunities to sing everywhere he could, (5) he worked on weekends - singing - when everyone else spent time partying and having fun and (6) he leveraged every singing opportunity into more singing opportunities... 👈🏾All of this happened BEFORE he ever became signed and famous.
It begins with mastering your craft, expressing your craft and leveraging every opportunity to use your craft into more opportunities to share your craft. David earned his way to the top.

I have known about David Phelps since he joined the artists with Bill Gaither & the Homecoming concerts in the mid 1990s. I have seen him perform live at a TBN taping & at a few Gaither Homecoming concerts about 12-13 years ago. His Nessun Dorma is gorgeous. My little sister has seen him perform many times as she lives in TX, I am in CA. He is truly amazing, amazing!! A sweet family man who loves the Lord. His technique is impeccable & he is still going strong at age 53! Love David & his ministry! ❤️✝️🙏🏼

Hands down best male vocalist of all time!
I didn’t realize Phelps was almost the same age as my father! Not to act as if one’s 50’s are the golden years or anything, but I do find it interesting to hear how similar his outlook is to the man who raised me, with all the talk of finding the people who can make you the best _you_ you can be, and the uplifting of those who supported them through their journey.
Then to hear they were born at almost the same time! I wonder if this is just a perspective that that generation has more of, or if it’s how they talk about it, but I love how much emphasis folks like Phelps place on their community when talking about their own achievements. It’s obvious they’re grateful for and appreciative of all the folks who believed in them when they achieve their dreams, and it warms my heart to see it ☺️❤️
I recently saw him live in a small venue and it was the most amazing performance I will probably ever experience

My son sang for David years ago at his CHRISTmas concert, my son was 12 years old, singing for the greatest voice on Earth, having taught himself how to sing by watching David growing up, it was my son's greatest moment. David gave him the same advice that he received, "sing everywhere you can". David and my son have a fabulous relationship from years of going to David's house for Labor Day Barn Bash.

David is definitely one of my few absolute favourite singers out there. He's a huge inspiration to me when I try to sing. I started singing when I was about 39yo, I've only had 5 basic singing lessons in my life. I'm 47 today. I've only sung Karaoke live a few times, but never with a real orchestra. So that is one of my dreams to sing live with a real orchestra, if I can get good enough. I know I'm never ever going to reach Davids level.
Hoping I can get the money for a singing coach some day.

It seems like with certain voices the most important components are the cruicial ones because with some character voices with just one of the first four components all alone it’ll be clear who you’re imitating. Like with the Grinch if you simply focus on retracting the front of the tongue that one single component all alone will make it very clear you’re mimicking the Grinch voice
