When he says “Temptations, sing!” that’s the REAL Temptations. His uncle was a member of the group. Rick also wrote all the instrumentals for this as well!
Wow I didn’t know that. I learned something new today ☺️
@@JeanaeJonesPlanningAvonHome didn't know that
Yes the one named Blue was related to him.
What!?!? WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
melvin franklin
Rick would be so proud seeing his long lost son jamming to his song! Love it!
🤣🤣🤣
Hey that’s funny as hell !!
He really looks like Rick fr 🤣🤣🤣
When Hammer asked him if he would let him sample this Rick thought it was just gonna be a little bit, Rick was mad when he heard what Hammer did with his song, until he started getting royality checks
And hammer is broke
@@-M0LE His entourage ,stage show, and the home office of Hammer Inc was over 100 full time people at one point. He found his whole family jobs.
@@-M0LE but Rick is dead
SO Rick could touch this
Rick was happy as hell when he that royalty check tho!! He said that himself in an interview
" C0caines a helluva drug" 😂 I just noticed he has one female from damn near every race. Pretty sure he was telling us he don't discriminate!
Rick said: "Put all the glitter on me, none for the ladies"
Don't get it twisted...RICK is the star of the show
@@a.r.3922 oh...for sure! He's cold blooded 🤣🤣
Back then, the glitter was broken glass! Lady T used to get MAD cuz he'd shake his head and it would get all over her and scratch her up.
"Rick said: "Put all the glitter on me, none for the ladies"" It's almost like he said "Give It to Me, Baby!"
@@davidmernick7360 Ha! Nice one David 🤣
Rick James' uncle was Melvin Franklin, bass vocalist for The Temptations. And Rick James produced Eddie Murphy's 80s hit - Party All the Time (a must see)!
What! Blue was his uncle!!!! My favorite Temptation
Charlie Murphy telling stories about Rick James is so funny
I miss Charlie Murphy stories so much! I thought he was funnier than Eddie. Charlieeeee Murphyyyyyy RIP
@@roxannemoser Hi i agree he was so funny. A big loss.
F*** yo couch
"Cocaine is a helluva drug." - Rick James (b*tch)
Every time Leo said his name at the beginning, I was waiting for "b*tch" ala Dave Chappelle.
There was a lawsuit for copyright infringement. Hammer agreed to credit James as a "writer". He subsequently made millions in royalties.
Omg I'm dyin'. Next Halloween, you could dress up as Rick James.
Don't forget the gold glitter on your face
DEFINITELY
You’re so right... Would be a great costume for him...killin’ myself laughing thinking of MrV in the sparkly wig 🖖🏻🇨🇦😂
Make sure to keep a bit of powdered sugar on you for the costume. Your gonna need to put some on your nose and re-apply FREQUENTLY.
Dang, I miss that glitter hairspray. Not only did I use it on my hair, but used it to decorate my bedroom. ✨
Fun fact:
the lady in purple and blonde hair was my mom!! She choreographed the whole video and obviously danced too. She also was in grease 2 and met Michelle pheifer!
STOP IT!!!! Love it🥰 I was in grade school when Grease 2 came out my best friend and I watched it all the time-but both fans of the original of course❣️
Why did your mom look like a man in drag?
the one whose nose Rick tried to eat in the cab lol?
That Rick was quite a freak himself. lol. A famous Rick James quote, “Cocaine is a helluva drug.” He would know. lol
When he says, "Blow, Danny!" in the song, you could be forgiven for thinking he was asking for more coke. XD
💯❣️
The Brutha wasn't lying😳
Remember that time he kidnapped someone? Remember the second time he kidnapped someone?
"Are there anymore white women left?" I just spit out my coffee! Damn Mr.V you never cease to surprise me. Hahahahahaha. Love it!
Yes!!
“I look like Rick James...”🤣 yes you do.
That's what I thought when I first watched Mr. Video!
"Look like Rick James?!" Hell, you could be his Twin Bruthah!
you didn't recognize him Eddies "Party Time" video.
Yes he absolutely does.
King and Queens reference?
I didn't even occur to me that you two looked alike! Another BANGA!!
SHIT YEAH THEY DO!!!!
Damn Leo !! You go from Mozart to Rick James. That's a leap for sure.
It's hard not to think of Chappelle doing
" I'm Rick James Bitch !!" whenever I hear this now
Great jam. Used to skate my ass off to it.
While I love that one, "I'm Wayne Brady Bitch" was my all time fave. >.
Charlie Murphy!!! What did the five fingers... SAY TO THE FACE!? SLAAAAP!
@@RareHarmony u beat me to it
fuck the couch! lol
@@w1975b he'll need some muddy ass platform boots for that Halloween costume.
"...are there any white women left?"
bout did a spit take and fell outta my chair with that. Immediately thought of Blazing Saddles.
Me too 😂😆😅
@@jessicashelton967 😂😂😂 where is all the white woman
Thought it was.... where's the white women at..... superfreaks!🤣
Box saddles line where the white women at?
Hard to believe this guy was bigger than prince for a VERY brief time. Prince was actually his support act at one concert.
Prince had to adapt lol
i guess his first 2 albums were bigger but by 79 prince already had a higher charting song than rick james ever had
Not hard to believe. Back in the day Rick was the shit!!!
@@mike04574 not true. Ricks song You and I was #1 in 79' and Mary Jane was #3 in 78'.
@@randywissler9923 prince also had a numbe r 1 in 79, guess rick james was bigger for those earlier years
I had this 45 when I was in pre-school. Never thought anything of it until the first time I heard it after I became a mom. I was shocked & asked my mom why she let me listen to this when I was 4. She said, “Did you know what they were talking about?” I said no, and she said, “So what’s the problem, then?” 🤣🤣🤣 Parenting was different in the 70’s & 80’s! 😂
Lmao🤣🤣
Yup
Rick James - Give it to me baby
Rick James is your spirit animal.
I recommend : Rick James
Give It To Me Baby
and
Mary Jane
How did I miss this reaction!!?? 😂😂😂 “Did he just bust out the Temptations?” Leo, I think you need some glitter and leather clothes, and you got a perfect Halloween costume.
Oh I totally forgot Cheryl Song was in the vid! She was the first Asian American to dance on Soul Train! Just a fun fact
I remember her!
My god, your right. I never caught that. It is her.
Thanks for the reminder ! she was on Soultrain every week dancing either on the main stage or that upper platform you can’t miss her! I had a crush on her for years as a kid
Oh- I wanted to add something about Rick James past- when he was young, and just becoming a musician, he was in a band with Neal Young- the folk rocker, who use to be in C.S.N.and Young☺ I know it is hard to believe, but true!!
Actually, "You Can't touch this" is sampled from this song.
MC Hammer lost in court for plagiarism of the base line of this song....Rick James recorded it first....
There was no court decision. A settlement was reached out of court. Part of the settlement required MC to publicly credit Rick James for the bass line from “Super Freak”. There was probably an undisclosed dollar amount as well
There will never ever be anybody like Rick James he was one of a kind we're all going to miss him
He said " Rick like white women" , I immediately thought of Tina Marie and Linda Blair! You are too funny and entertaining. Yeah you look like Rick!
@veronica carlson I know right. She must have been a Super Freak LOL. We know he was one.
@veronica carlson He wrote Cold-Blooded about her I think. Linda was fine back in the day.
"No he didn't bust out The Temptations.. " 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Fun Fact: The Oriental girl with the really long hair was a featured regular on SOUL TRAIN .....much love ❤
* Asian
Her name is Cheryl song
I think she was in Michael Jackson's Beat It video
The Soooul 🚂 Train!
With your host, Mr. Don Cornelius! RIP
@Jack Bauer Asian is the preferred term when referring to people. Oriental is fine when referring to food and rugs.
"Is there any more white women left?" got me. Lmao
try Eddie Murphy - Party All the Time...Rick is in video too and he produce track
Yes this song is awesome. Do Party all the Time please
Yes I agree
GTA!!!!
I'd give anything to see you in that body suit and those boots. Holy crap, that furry feathery jacket of yours would match.... smokin hot! I pictured it and my face hurts from smiling! You're too much fun Mr.Video
This one brings me back! He had talent...but went down a sad path. RIP Rick James. I pray you found peace.
Some of these young ladies were regulars on Soul Train every week. You need to do a paternity test, Son! P.S. Rick James was a producer at Motown!
RIP to Rick James man. Innovator and pioneer and a Crazy SOB
Check out the Dave Chapelle Charlie Murphy stories about him if you haven’t already. Legendary stories hah
Also. You need to check out Mary Jane by Rick James that’s all you bro hah. He’s talking about a green lady on that one hah
“I’m Rick James, bitch!” 🤣🤣🤣
I was about to say that. All I can think of during the video were the Dave Chapelle Charlie Murphy stories “Darkness,” “F^*~ Yo Couch” and the scene in Coming to America when Eriq La Salle gets up from the couch and leaves the jerry curl Maxim hairspray spot on the sofa. 😂🤣
@@OZYM1 well back then, Charlie and Eddie were the blackest on the planet according to Rick, darkness brothers, twin brother darkness, you black magic, darkness, fuck yo couch.
@@bridget5180 That was...cold blooded
@@derekcep Unity!!!!
I'm a woman in my 60's and I get a big laugh every time I tune in to see you. I love you!!! Super Freaky!!
Rick James really lived this. In about 1986 I'm trying to get into a swanky LA dance club, a limo drives right up to the front and this crew of 5 hot chicks gets out , then Rick James scoots out backwards. He pivots and makes a "pistol" with his thumb and forefinger of both hands. He throws a huge grin and gives everybody in line a shot with his finger guns - then they all boogied their way inside. It was cool as shit.
Asian lady the first non-Black dancer on soul train, later became dance choreographer and became pretty well known an her own right.
Indeed, Rick James is underrated, as a producer, writer, and performer. He merged James Brown’s emphasis on funk grooves with P-Funk’s party funk vibe brilliantly. It’s a shame he flamed out so early. This is easily the best funk jam of the ‘80s, with Cameo’s “Word Up” and “Candy” close behind. If you want a real funk rabbit role to explore, check out James Brown’s early ‘70s JBs band, which, note-for-note, is the best funk band ever-before and after the Collins brothers defected to P-Funk. The JBs’ 1971 “Love, Power, Peace” live album in Paris is epic. Their best jam ever was “Can’t Stand It ’76,” from their “Hell” album. Starts out slow, then by the end, every instrument is in the groove-tightest, fattest funk sound ever. James surely was inspired by the JBs’ grooves.
You can actually quote Cheppelle " I'm Rick James Bytch!" 😂
I'm gonna go out on a limb and guess that 'Mary Jane', another song by your father ;-), will be your jam.
Loved this in the 80s and onward. Never had so much fun as dancing this song.
My mom & I used to dance to Rick James in the living room 💃🏻💃🏻Good times 🎶😎🤩She bought me this album for Christmas. Yes... ALBUM 🤓
OMG you be grooving and partying all the time..😂
I have so much fun just watching your reactions...😂🤣
"Charlie Murphy’s True Hollywood Stories: Rick James - Chappelle’s Show". Hope it don't get blocked!
I’m Rick James Bitch , Dave Chappelle 😂😂
Darkness!
Was only thinking that as soon as I seen the thumbnail 🤣 "Fuck Yo Couch"
Charlie Murphy's stories were (still are) my fave bits on The Chappelle Show, the one with Prince is my fave though, just due to the fact, Prince used Dave Chappelle's image on his Breakfast Can Wait singles cover art to troll him back for his skit.
Uniiiiitttyyy
My boy say “Are there anymore white women left?” LMAO!!! Damn, you crazy!
Check out Teena Marie's videos. Or as Rick James called her ....Lady T. She was definitely a black woman in a White womans body. Blacks mourned and had tributes after she died. She passed away 5 years after Rick. They were very close friends , and once were an item. Their famous song together was Fire and Desire. Teena said she used to get upset with Rick James for wearing the glitter in his hair. (Back then , it was made from fiberglass) She said it would cut her to pieces when it dropped off on her.
Check out her singing Ooh Baby Baby at the tribute for Smokey Robinson. (This was Smokeys hit song)
Teena looks like an older frumpy housewife here , but when she opened her mouth......Wow!!!
Sorry , Smokey. Her version was best.
Look for Teena Marie/Tribute to Smokey Robinson. Close your eyes while you listen. You would never believe she's a white woman. Her popular hit in the 80's was I just want to be your Lover Girl.
R.I.P. Rick and Lady T.
To hang out with this guy for just 5 minutes would be beyond EPIC!!
Besides looking like him, I feel like Rick James is your spirit animal. 😁😁😁
Yup 😀
Amen !
I've been watching your reaction videos for about two weeks. You make me laugh the way you feel the music. Especially Mozart, James Brown and Etta James. Keep me smiling, love your spirit.
I laughed so hard, at about 1:50 when the super freak.... made you cough on your hit. Thank you for being you, I needed that laugh even if it led to tearing and coughing on my part. 💖😂
I loved it too.
Great concert back in the day..!! Saw him at The Oakland Coliseum in the late 70's... I'll Never forget that Night..!!!!
My God, you do look like him! I love this song and I like you too, you brightened my days, thanks!
Love it... Mr. Video: "That's Can't Touch This"... I was waiting for it...that moment you realized. Priceless.
In '90 my friend was at a grocery store in LA & some dude was hard stalking her around the aisles. As she was checking out she realized it was RICK JAMES 😬🤣
Hahaha .. I love it .. you broke out into singing "you cant touch this" lol !!!
Babe.. don't Ever go down the road he went down. Just admire it from the bridge. Seriously.
Yeah, Rick James is a cautionary tale not a role model.
100 % I agree!
He was really talented. Too bad, I guess we all have our demons.
He's a super freak. But hey, this song gets you moving... can't deny danced to this many a time at after-school functions
@@kimbare7434 oh for sure!! I have danced/roller skated/ twerked out a moving car window to Rick James many a time 🤫
Mr. V, so much for u to learn, but enjoying u enjoying. U happy makes me smile ! Keep on and thanks so much ! ( CAN REMEMBER DANCING TO THIS IN A BAR, GOOD NIGHT ! ) LOL
Rick James autobiography “Glow” is MUST READ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Fascinating man and super entertaining book.
Yo I think I’m buying that. He lived a life man.
He lived a life worth living! But one that doesn't age well. Much like a ponzi scheme it's amazing for awhile then it all comes crashing down on ya and what's left of your life is shit 💩.
My friend used run into Ricks and do blo at the Rainbow Room next to the Roxy on Hollywood Blvd. Rick was cool, man. Never had the pleasure of partying with him, but he is legend.
"Super Freak" came out before "Can't Touch This"
Damn you! I'm watching this on my porch, laughing with absolute intent with the headphones on, and my neighbor just rushed by dragging her four-year-old who was pointing at the crazy lady... Good times, love your reactions! 🖖🐢
You GOTTA do “Party All the Time” by Eddie Murphy!!! Rick is in the video along with Eddie. The song is pretty catchy...Eddie took a lot of shit for it, but I loved it.
I saw it, he didn't ever recognized him at first man.
My other favorite Rick James songs are "Give It To Me" and "You and I". Great energy. A musical genius. So sad what happened to Rick. RIP, Rick.
Rick James once played in a band with Neil Young.
The Mynah Birds
Rick James is credited as a writer for “YOU CAN’T TOUCH THIS.”
he produced it too
You had me truly lol’ing!!! Before you even said it, I thought hey, Leo and Rick cousins!! 😂😂. Man, you giving me musical whiplash! Mozart then Rick James!! 👍💚😎. F’ing Awesome! You alright with me, MrVideo!
I live in Buffalo about 10 minutes from where the Perry projects used to be. That is where Rick James grew up. My boyfriend and I went to his funeral when he passed away and we visit his grave sometimes. He is buried in Forest Lawn cemetery. My grandmother's grave is not to far from Rick James's mother's and his grave. He was married to a white woman and they have a son and daughter together
Check out Eddie Murphy’s party all the time song written by Rick James
He is in the video too!
Yes
Omg yes! Forgot about that song. He def has to react to it!
You definitely have to react to that song! It was a great Party song back in the day. Eddie Murphy did really good
Potty all the time. 🤣
You are a trip. I'm laughing my butt off 🤣 you do look like him ! Your reaction was hilarious. I love when you get to watch a funny one..
Oh the 80s .....glad I got to enjoy these songs as a kid🤣thanks mom🤣🤣🤣🤣
We need Eddie Murphy's "My girl likes to party all the time" now.
YES PLEASE
It is a must!!
ty for including the sax solo at the end.
Temptations: "Ain't Too Proud to Beg" (1966).
another vote for listening to "Ain't Too Proud to Beg"
I've seen this video so many times my daughters love the song but I've never paid attention to him saying temptations sing nor them in the video. Glad I viewed this. Thank 😊
So no one has ever said to you, "Hey man, you remind me of Rick James". NEVER???? REALLY????
One of my favorite bass players! This riff is a go-to warm up jam for me.
We danced to this in grade school gymnastics. The parents were not exactly enthused. O_o We didn't know better. lol
I remember going to skating rink and shuffling to this and slots other "funky" songs. Ahhh to be in the 70's again! What a time.
Rick James liked ALL women lol....he died in 2004 of heart failure after decades of drug abuse, it was a sad ending.
Well, he was on fire for quite a while there. I always wonder whether I’d rather have a short but action-packed life or a long and mediocre one.
OMG, you and Rick James rock the same style/look! LOL! Love that song! Miss him!
When I hear the name Rick James all I think about is the old comedy show "in living color". Keenen Ivory Wayans would dress like him allot in skits. Great show and wish it was still around
OMG!!!! I think I went through 4 or 5 cassettes of Rick James Super Freak. Man I had a great time when I was young and danced my ass off to this song!
Cameo “Word up” is a good follow-up song to review in this genre.
that and the Remake done by Korn,,,,,,,,,both kick
Yep!
No doubt! That's a good one!!
I know this is 3 years late, but Rick James also wrote 'Party All The Time' for Eddie Murphy and was in the film clip too.
Can't touch this didn't come out till years after this. Rick James also sings, give it to me. You should play that one.
Rick James toured with the Temptations (they were both on the same label) and it was actually them singing backup on this song.
🤣🤣🤣🤣 .
Mozart to super freak.
Wow. Head spinning.🥰🥰🥰😅😅😅. Yes does look like you
Just soo much awesome music everywhere!
Hand to God I played this at my wedding reception. Moms..Grandmoms..all dancing lol.
Man I miss the 80’s
Mr. Video you are the absolutely THE BEST REACTIONS ON UA-cam!! LOVE LISTENING AND WATCHING. I want to request an amazing group THE SWAN SILVERTONES SING The day will surely come. Bless you and yours this Season!
Just started, "Don't go Rick James, you got all the Coke!"🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
LOL...I love your reaction to this song Leo! Man I was about 12 years old when I first heard it! Love me some Rick James~ RIP "Cocaine is a hell of a dug man!"
🤣🤣 Thankyou, I needed a good laugh. Love this song! Can't touch this....
the Asian Lady was a Soul Train Dancer! also one of Rick's uncles was a member for the Temptations! his uncle is Melvin the one with the really deep voice! Rick also dated Teena Marie and if i'm not mistaken Rick was her daughter's father!
This song is one of my fav perverted songs
Hi Mr. Video! I'm Chuck's woman named Jae Monroe! I always laugh when I hear this song because I was a punk rocker in the 80's at an inner city HS in Manhattan. My fellow classmates were not used to seeing punks back then so I got a lot of funny comments on my teased up dyed black hair and heavy black eye makeup etc... One of which is the other kids would walk by and point at me and sing this song! "She's a super freaky" LOL. It was better than being hated on at least I gave everyone something unusual and funny at times to look at!
"You got all the women. You got all the ... coke." 😂😂😂 Now you need to do the song "White Lines".
Loved your reaction - and you resemble him! Brings back some major memories, skating to this at Ohio Skate! I live in Arizona's but I'm from your home town! I'll always be strong for Toledo! Keep up the good work!
You MUST watch or react to Chappelle's Rick James Charlie Murphy story. Funniest shit I ever saw.
