With respect to Rashmika and peoples hate towards her, it wasn't Rashmika vs Rakshit or Rishab or anything. Rashmika and Rakshit got engaged after Kirik Party and they broke it afterwards. Just after that she got her break in Telugu with Geetha Govindam and rose to fame in Telugu just like she did here in Kannada. And she started sucking up to actors etc in awards shows (Hiii sirrrr....is a famous meme here in Karnataka). She came on Instagram live and people used to comment talk in Kannada while live (her primary audience was still Kannada at that time), she told only English for now, no Kannada. Then in an interview in Tamil she tried speaking Tamil and the interviewer appreciated her efforts and she told she tries to learn but she doesn't know any language properly. The interviewer told, you must know Kannada atleast, she told no. She doesn't know Kannada also that well. Then when rumours started that she is dating Vijay Devarakonda, she told in interviews that he is such a great friend, he is not insecure like her ex (i.e Rakshit) and he helped through her break-up etc etc. Rakshit Shetty never badmouthed her anywhere and always wished well for her and future, while she continued talking about the relationship. Pushpa was released in Kannada also, and when journalists asked her why she didn't dub in Kannada herself, she told she didn't get time. People were not happy with her once she went out of Kannada movies and when asked why she isn't doing any Kannada movies, she told she isn't getting any good script and she is not offered good movies and all, yet she did average movies all over other languages. It was kind of clear for the Kannada audience that she abandoned the very crowd which gave her an overnight stardom for more money or screen space with bigger stars elsewhere. And her interviews and actions kept on adding fuel to the hate. It was never about just the break up. She never respected the people of Karnataka and Kannada which were the two main factors that gave her the overnight stardom.
Edit: Add recent controversial statement of her saying South films don't have romantic songs and is mostly limited to item dance numbers during Mission Majnu song release event.
I can imagine the pain of telugu movie audience now. When they realize, the same Rashmika acted in Geeta Govindam whose romantic songs were a huge it!

Rashmika definitely had a bitter experience after the breaking up her engagement with Rakshit Shetty. As a person from Karnataka I can say people brutally trolled her. But this disrespectful behavior of hers is going to take her down even more. She should separate her personal and professional life and be mature enough to give credit to people who helped her and supported her in her initial days. Here's my two cents on the worthiness of film critics: I as a potential cine-goer would want to know how entertaining a movie is. Usually a good movie is appreciated across the board by most film critics. So I watch/ listen to 2-3 reviewers and if the average review is good, I decide to invest time and money into watching the movie. How do I decide which reviewer/ critic to listen to? The ones whose preferences/thoughts I have found to be consistently coherent and relatable in the past. So if Anmol says Bhediya is worth a watch I will watch it. Do I spend time reviewing his review - don't think so. Reviewing a review is something people who are close to the film - esp filmmakers tend to do - because it's too personal.

People watch films as simple viewers and/or as filmmakers. The position you watch it from doesn't dictate whether you're a film critic or not. To me, that depends on the lens you watch a film through and the purpose of watching it. I think if a person watching a film analyses it in terms of the technical aspects of filmmaking and/or is looking to learn about the elements of filmmaking by watching it (like they're "studying"), then that person can be called a film critic.

Most people in Karnataka know the history and reason why she did that but still that should not be the reason you belittle the production house which launched you. If anyone wants to brand themselves as a 'film critic'- I believe they need to be aware of the process.. Aware of technicalities. Rest- people who don't identify themselves as 'film critics' are entitled to their opinions - even though they don't have technical awareness. Coz we are customers and it's our discretion to like a product or not and have an opinion on it.. What elevates a critic is that- knowing the technical aspects of film making, while being empathetic to creators, they are able to call a spade and spade and become the voice of a common person.. They also are able to gently nudge the audience to take note of the brilliance of movie making, sometimes lost to the untrained eyes of the audience..

While she's made efforts learning Telugu and Tamil and speaks fluently she, for some reason doesn't respect our language and keeps insulting it though it's her own language. That's why we Kannada people hate her to the core and have banned her.

Rashmika has knowingly/unknowingly pulled the wrong chords many a times. I definitely detest all the name calling that's barraged on her, but time and again she's shown how un-rooted (if that's a word) she has been.
    - She'd named Yash (before KGF was released) as a build-up star in an interview with Rakshit Shetty. That had irked many as Yash was already the darling of Kannada masses by then.
    - Her broken engagement with Rakshit made another dent in her popularity. Kannada fans loved their chemistry in the movie and in real but were disappointed (apart from a heart broken Rakshit Shetty) when the two parted ways, despite amicably. The fact that Rakshit being a thorough gentleman and Rashmika easily moving on (with Vijay D) made matters worse. Till date Rakshit has had zero love affairs apart from this one.
    - and the final blow was her hesitancy to acknowledge her debut from Kannada Industry. Kirik Party was a huge hit. So the masses can't get over disloyalty.

I am not even talking about kannada here. She comes from a beautiful community of kodavas who are probably the most generous and welcoming people of my state. I have never seen her endorse any of that too. I guess as a community who have hardly had any representation for so long we got excited and expected a lot out of her. Maybe it's not even her responsibility. But it's one thing to not represent but to constantly go on undermining and being unapologetic about it really hits hard. You for sure need to have a film knowledge before going there. Anmol is calling Anjali's response "condescending" cause he feel attacked by those comments. Cause ultimately speaking, Anmol don't really have a film degree or anything. He is someone who just loves to watch movies. Hey, Kannadiga here. Rashmika Mandanna's first movie was Kirik Party & right after that she was engaged to Rakshit Shetty who launched her. She went on to became a huge hit heroine & started getting opportunities from every south industry, because she was hailed as "Karnataka ka Crush". Until here everything was fine. Rakshit Shetty has a huge fan base in Kannada (Im a greatest fan too!) Both Rashmika & Rakshit broke up - none of them revealed why. Coincidentally she did 2 movies in a row with Vijay Devarakonda & one of them had a kissing scene with him as well. Obviously this typical low class, no brain, "so-called" fans of Rakshit Shetty (A real fan of his will never do this to the lady he ever loved) were after her life since then & creating controversy even if she breathes (Rolling eyes..) She is a Kodava, one of the languages in karnataka & actually cannot speak kannada that well, which is ok & she admitted to that humbly once in an interview that she struggles in dialogue delivery in every language which is also true, I feel. 70% of bengaluru does not speak kannada and nobody has balls to ask them but just because they can troll Rashmika online they do it. And they always find such reasons to miscontrue whatever she says. From what I see in this video what she meant was that she had no knowledge on which production house it was & it was not meant to insult the production house. Which any sane person can see.
You will see a lot of ppl saying that she disrespected the industry. But in real you can search the entire internet and cant find even 1 single video where she actually said anything bad about Kannada or the industry. Thats when you will understand how big this propaganda is.

It was never about just the language. Many people don't know kannada living here and you are absolutely Right. But she speaks other languages very well from other industries. She started speaking them within months. Leave that aside. You have a freedom of speech. You are comfortable with a language, u speak that, it's totally fine. Problem is A Production House, which calls you, gives you an opportunity despite having no film background, coaching you for the acting, helping you with the Kickstarter success, just because you are very successful today, doesn't give you an excuse to name that production house as if they were dying to cast her. There are many great actresses who are far better than her. She got a great chance in the movies, being an outsider, having zero acting experience. This shows the level of disrespect and the audacity thinking that she is better than everyone.
If you look at her career history, according to me she only got good roles in Kirik Party, Goodbye and Sita Ramam. The rest of her roles she has done are either cringe, a love interest, or her character is extremely sexualised. She chooses roles which degrade women. She just cares about a fat paycheck.

Rashmika could speak Kannada quite a bit and she could have learned the language better, but when you constantly bully someone for not knowing Kannada how can one learn the language in such a toxic environment.
The problematic part of Kannada cinema fans is that we want everyone from Karnataka to speak Kannada not understanding the state's linguistic diversity. The same people who tell me to speak Kannada when I speak English or Hindi in office space would make fun of my dialect of Kannada as I speak Havyaka Kannada instead of Urban Kannada. Exactly, we have nothing against her for breaking the engagement. She was young, had more opportunities to explore. But I really started disliking her for the shady behavior towards kannada language, kannada film industry and her debut production house. In mangalore we don't speak kannada on daily basis but we are fluent in kannada, similarly every coorgi I met till date can speak in kannada very well. I don't understand why she behaves as if she is from other state. Her English isn't good as well, any guess about what language she spoke when she lived in bengaluru ??.

I think she is another spoilt out of touch from biology,reality- indoctrinated pseudo intellectual. Such interview question arises because heroes legit are able to retain their looks n shape more than heroines. Example? SRK, AB, salman, sunil shetty, hrithik roshan, akshay kumar, john abraham. On the other hand most female celebs lose their looks(away from camera especially) to say the least, owing to their pregnancy and biological facts like women having slower metabolism, menopause, etc. which they don't have any control over n am not blaming them. It's natural ❤️.
Also, most people including women consciously or subconsciously follow n admire an actress more for her looks than acting in comparison to actors. There must be a reason why nana patekar, rajpal yadav, AB, nawaz are so celebrated but not that lady who acted alongside brett lee or any non stereotypically gorgeous looking actress.
